I love how Dead poets society perfectly presented how kids who don't receive enough validation that they crave from their parents often seek validation on teachers who act like parental figures to them instead. You know that thing where people would say that kids with mother issues often cling to female teachers while those with father issues on the other half often cling to male teachers? ── Neil's father issues explains why he was so drawn to Mr. Keating. He's fond of him very much because Mr. Keating treated him with warmth unlike his father who treated him with such sternness and coldness. Mr. Keating acted like the father figure that he needed.

~✧°+* 100 days of doing better *+°✧~
I have seen various versions of these 100-day-challenges floating around and decided I wanted to try it out as well!
Instead of just doing "100 days of productivity" or "100 days of studying", however, I decided on coming up with a version of this challenge that better fits my life and caters towards my personal goals more effectively.
100 days of doing better combines efforts to improve academically (through studying and working on assignments), to improve my daily life (through keeping on top of chores and managing my living spaces), my social life (through taking breaks and spending time with friends) as well as efforts ot improve my mental health (through doing things I like, indulging in hobbies and taking a step back if I need it).
Some specific goals I would like to achieve/do in these 100 days:
start studying Spanish more seriously
read at least 2-5 books for fun
cut down on social media/phone time
start the first draft for a story I have been meaning to write
try new recipes and cook a meal once a day
start research on possible BA thesis topics
get out of the house once a day
find an internship for the next semester break
meet up with friends from school at least once
declutter my closet
If you like this version of the challange feel free to join me!
Either way, I hope we'll spend the coming 100 days making the best of out lives <3

I blame the fact that I am so lost in the sauce on the amount of stress I am under at the moment. It's also gotten really hot again which my body is NOT built for.
I started looking for apartments, though. I'm planning to move to a bigger place with some friends early next year - we'll see if that actually works, but we for sure are motivated.
Positive things I did today:
cleaned the apartment
worked on the Hamilton essay
read before bed
Hours slept: ~7hrs Screentime: ~5hrs Steps taken: ~4.400

I am still lost in the sauce but the sauce is more like a clear broth now, so I think we are getting somewhere.
I had to escape to the city library today in order not to melt. I wouldn't want an AC in my home, but thank god public buildings have them.
Pogress is being made with my essay. Slow, slow progress, but once I get out of the mental haze that is the planning phase I think I'll manage to wrap this one up quite smoothly. It#s only supposed to be 8-10 pages, probably around 2.5k words, anyways.
Also, damn, I really gotta start putting more effort into taking pictures for these posts again. Sorry about that.
Positive Things I did today:
worked on my Hamilton essay
went grocery shopping
cooked dinner for my me and my friend
continued reading Swimming in the Dark
Hours slept: ~7hrs Screentime: ~5hrs 30mins Steps taken: ~4.100
