Ringo Starr at the Variety Club luncheon, 19th March 1964

The Beatles attended the 12th annual luncheon held by the Variety Club of Great Britain, where leader of the opposition Harold Wilson presented them with the Show Business Personalities of 1963 award. The ceremony took place at the Dorchester Hotel in Park Lane, London.

I still remember the day when I passed the only exam (the general hygiene exam), even though it wasn't that long ago (like a week ago).

I was exhausted because I was repeating/learning the topics of the questions and hadn't eaten for more than 10 hours. When I passed the exam, my father drove me to a cafe and I finally ate a shawarma. I still remember that Octopus's Garden was playing at that moment. I finally felt free and relaxed after a few weeks of stress.

At a private reception, 25 February 2017 at Subliminal projects gallery in Echo Park, Starr was perusing the lyrics to one of the previously unfinished songs included in the new volume, one that name checked him "Hey Ringo"

After smiling at a rhyme about "my guitar sounds so bare / when your drums aren't there" the 76 years old drummer became choked with emotion by the next line, "Hey Ringo, there's one thing that I've not said/ I'll play my guitar with you until I drop dead"

"I'm sorry" he said, his eyes misting and turning back towards his wife, actress Barbara Bach.
