This is my favorite recipe for recovering from cold and flu. I made a batch of it this morning for some of my officemates who haven't been feeling well and I thought I would share in case anyone needs a pick-me-up.
You will need:
Black tea (I usually use Earl Grey for this recipe)
Honey (local is best if you can get it)
Ginger paste
A fresh orange
Cinnamon stick (if desired)
Brew the tea on the strong side and fill your favorite mug about 2/3 of the way. Add a pea-sized amount of ginger paste plus honey to taste and stir well. Slice the orange into wedges. Select a piece and prick the rind with a fork before adding it to the cup of tea. Macerate the orange a little to release the juice and pulp. If you want, you can also add a cinnamon stick for flavor.
Breathe in the steam while the tea is hot, then sip slowly once it's cooled to a drinkable temperature. It's best to drink it while it's hot. I find this really helps with cough and sore throat, plus it's tasty and comforting. Nothing like a good cuppa to put oneself right again.
Pro-Tip: If you want to make a decongestant version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper. Your nose will run like a faucet, but it helps.
Happy Witching! đ¤§

Hi! this is a list of witchy self-care things you can do. Most of these are pretty basic on account that i wrote this ages ago but they definitely still work. Anyways, I hope these help :)
Do the dishes and dedicate it to your house spirit (if you have one) or a deity (if you're religious)
sweep/mop your floor in the shape of sigils
add rosemary (or rosemary water/essential oils) to the water you mop with to set an intention of cleansing
taking ritual a bath/shower
cleansing your energy. it's so basic but I forget more than i'd like to admit
dedicating time to yourself. it's just as important as dedicating time to your deities/other spirits
light shadow work or going to therapy. bettering your mental health also betters your spiritual.
go outside and ground yourself
take a nap (less witchy, more, I love naps. rest is important)
work out/stretch and dedicate it to an entity
do some gratitude
take 5 minutes to just sit and turn off your devices. you can use this time for anything, just take a second to get off screens and connect with the world around you
meditate. if you can't sit still long enough to meditate, just focus on taking 3 deep breathes
when you wash your face, draw sigils on your face with the cleanser and moisturiser
^do the same as above but with your body wash and when you wash your hair
say some affirmations/manifestations while brushing your teeth
just check in with yourself and see how you're feeling spiritually, psychically and emotionally. sometimes we don't actually know how we're feeling until we sit down and actually ask ourselves.
If anyone has any more to add please comment. I'll add them to the list (with credit of course)

You're journey begins and ends here
As I'm in the process of reconnecting with witchcraft after being not so dedicated for the last two years, there are things I'm being mindful of as I read books as research and wait for some supplies I ordered to be delivered (just coz I wanna do some crafty stuff, not that you need supplies for witchcraft!). Here are some things I've been up to:
Lighting a candle or more everyday and feeling it's warmth and watching it for the fire element
Lighting an incense stick every few days and watching the smoke and taking in the smell. Opening my window wide and smelling the air outside whether it's sunny or raining. For the air element
Being more mindful of how water cleanses and feels when I wash my hands or shower. Drinking more water. For the water element
Researching on herbs and flowers by reading green witchcraft books. Making plans for indoor plants, even if they're fake because of responsibilities and cat. Plans to check the front yard for any herbs my mum may have planted there before she moved. Incorporating more herbs and spices in my food and drinks. Drinking tea. For the earth element
A few minutes of meditation and non screen time. Thinking about my belief and forming it. Working on the arrangement of my altar and making plans for it. Rolling crystals around in my hand as I do uni work. Being more mindful of what I say and my intentions. For the spirit element
Setting up sun water to charge on the windowsill during the day with crystals and the sun tarot card. For Solar and water
Looking into the current moon phase on my side of the world and what to do during it (currently waning crescent for me!). Aligning my goals and intentions with the moon phase. For Lunar and spirit
Despite me having a giant shopping list of things I want to get over time to make things and do spells, and books I want to get physical copies of for taking notes and referring to, right now I'm finding ways I have at home to connect with the elements, especially work on my relationship with earth as one I've neglected previously but now want to focus on as a green witchling, and work on my belief.
Blessed Be!
What Native people say about the use of sage: you can use sage, but you cannot smudge as nothing you are doing (waving sage around) is actually smudging. Smudging is a ceremony and you are, we promise, not smudging. Please buy sage from either us, or someone who sources the sage from us. White sage may not be considered endangered by the US government but corperate sourcing is making it difficult for us to source sage for our own religious purposes. Let alone to sell it.
What white people hear: never use sage ever, donât ever buy it, donât own it, donât even look at it.
Look, yâall. Thereâs a couple of facets to my talk today.
1) Yes! You can buy sage! You really, truly can! Buy it from either native sellers (go to a powwow! Eat our food, buy our stuff, watch some dancing!) Or buy it from a seller who sources the sage from native people. Pick one. And no, buying it from 5 Below doesnât count.
2) you CANNOT smudge. This isnât just you âshouldnâtââ this is a YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF SMUDGING. Waving a sage stick around your doorways IS NOT SMUDGING. It is smoke clensing. Smudging, depending on the tradition and tribe, could easily have dancing and drums involved. You, as a white person, do not have the cultural BACKGROUND to even know how it works. At all. Period.
3) please, for FUCKS SAKE, stop making posts here on tumblr where you tell other white people about cultural appropriation and what they can and cannot do. Please stop, your license has been revoked because none of you bother to get the facts right. We native people are FULLY CAPABLE OF DOING IT OURSELVES. Consider instead: a) reblogging our posts where we talk about it! Weâre here! We have made posts!! b) Making a post that states what we said and then LINKS BACK TO US. Screenshot with a link if you must. Stop centering your own voices in these conversations. You are already centered in everything, stop centering yourselves in a native space.
Iâm tired of this nonsense, yâall.
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk â˘

Hey, so I understand that your intentions are good, but if we've never really talked, I'd appreciate you not sending me overly familiar asks, such as roleplaying physical affection. I don't know you, and if I ran into you in person I would not want to have physical contact with you.
This isn't directed at any one person -- I've had a few such asks at this point, and at least one fairly unsettling parasocial situation, so I'm asking folks to respect this boundary.
âFind meaning. Distinguish melancholy from sadness. Go out for a walk. It doesnât have to be a romantic walk in the park, spring at its most spectacular moment, flowers and smells and outstanding poetical imagery smoothly transferring you into another world. It doesnât have to be a walk during which youâll have multiple life epiphanies and discover meanings no other brain ever managed to encounter. Do not be afraid of spending quality time by yourself. Find meaning or donât find meaning but âstealâ some time and give it freely and exclusively to your own self. Opt for privacy and solitude. That doesnât make you antisocial or cause you to reject the rest of the world. But you need to breathe. And you need to be.â
