I plan to draw Kamala Joshi in a Nauvari sari. I feel it would suit her and hope @cassandraclare can include this in her story or maybe @cassandrajp can also draw her in this attire. I was born and raised in Mumbai so I’m very excited at the prospect of my city being included in a series I love. The Nauvari ( Nine yards of fabric) is also referred to as the Kaashta or Lugade. It is a traditional sari of the state of Maharashtra and Mumbai is the state capital. Unlike other sarees, the Nauvari is built to mirror the traditional trousers that men wore and is made to be comfortable and easy to move in. It was also the staple of the Maratha clan of fighters, which was a clan that rivalled the Mughals in power and firmly established guerrila warfare training in their soldiers.
There is so much fear-mongering about sharia law, when the actual fear should be from oppressive government institutions using Sharia law as an excuse to justify their actions. These countries say they follow sharia law and if someone dissents, they are called an enemy of state and executed. And whenever you use sharia as a representative of oppression of women, you effectively shit on those who died to protest against the hypocrisy and let the corruption win. This is not a friendly reminder. Sharia law is to resolve disputes with equal rights given to both men and women. It is very easy to defend all women instead of just one group of them. Malaysia and Indonesia also use Sharia law. While those countries do have problems with women's rights, those problems are completely different from middle eastern countries (more similar to India then Saudi Arabia). You don't see them being denied the right to work, right to education, being forced to wear or remove their hijabs .etc.
already seeing a lot of *drops comparisons to muslim countries*/*uneducated quips about sharia law*/*general fear mongering, racism and islamophobia*
friendly reminder to express your anger about roe v wade without being a bigot
Indian woman here. What the fuck? No, Indian men aren't all animals. Not all of them are that bad. And this exact approach is what makes them so isolated and willing to assault us. There's 1.4 billion Indians. Are you generalising all of them as rapists? Are you that fucking dumb? Everybody hears about the rapes and they should, those are horrible and the perpetrators should be punished. What you don't hear is how the other men themselves band together to lynch or mob or arrest or hunt down these other rapists. Yes, there’s a lot of cases. Yes, the misogyny is bad. But the number is due to our high population. And men and women work to make sure these cases aren't covered. So hate these rapists all you want, you absolutely should, but don't do it on race, because you're indirectly also insulting the characteristics of their victims and the people who were close to them and are trying so hard to seek justice. Don't hate them because they're Indian. Hate them because they're not worthy of being called Indian at all.
idc what anyone says you guys should definitely hate on all indian men ♥️ its not fucking racist when all u indian men do is gangrape women every 20 seconds
Athena headed out of Zeus's cranium.
so athena burst out fully born from zeus's skull, right?
People keep comparing Starship to SaturnV, because tentatively, if it ever became a space worthy vessel and orbital delivery vehicle (it's not); it'd be the largest and most powerful one in history, with SaturnV its only near peer (sorry, N-1, you really didn't qualify).
And the first "integration test vehicle" (read: the actually whole complete thing, that's literally the point of that kind of test; it's meant to be all the pieces, already tested and proven on their own, finally assembled into the final thing to make sure everything plays nice when together)
So lets see how did Saturn family development go in comparison? How many "integration test vehicles" did the Saturn project obliterate in the process?
ZERO. They blew up ZERO Saturn first stages, ZERO Saturn second stages, and ZERO Saturn payloads.
It's not fucking normal to blow up rockets this size and complexity, because they're expensive and dangerous! You build SMALLER, SIMPLER prototypes, you test those, you do all the "risky" tests on your separate parts of the system, and test the integration at less ambitious scales and stress levels. That's how you do rocket science. Iteratively, yes! But the iterations must make sense!
And let me stress
SpaceX exists at a time where they can (and should) do 90% of the raw, grueling development with lot of painful failures in digital simulations, or tests where you build a small, simple thing and enhance the simulation based on what you learned there.
Saturn and other projects paved the worst of this goddamn slog. They did all the dirty, awful work already. They literally gave us the textbooks that you study from if you actually get a science degree (Elon does not have one).
And again, the most embarrassing thing isn't Musk and his poor, toxic, overworked circus that's SpaceX. The most embarrassing thing is the "space science enthusiast" crowd that's cheering on this launch as some sort of tentative success.
@wearewatcher what if the ghost of Sally and everyone else who communed to you through the spirit box was trapped in it and you guys just stamped over them all? Did Shane try to save Ryan from their wrath by simply putting it back? Or was he actually intrigued by the supernatural phenomenon? Cause I can't think of any other reason for him to fix the hellborn box.
What's interesting to note is that back in the covid era, TikTok was banned along with a number of Chinese apps in India (around 40 of them). You know what happened? People simply moved on to Instagram or Snapchat. I think something similar may happen. And American companies like Meta will greatly benefit. They might even launch a new app.
How does the batfam celebrate the TikTok ban?
So my two cents that no one asked for is that a TikTok ban is actually Not A Good Thing. A lot of small businesses and artists (including my own band) rely on TikTok for marketing and growing an audience. TikTok is also a source of community for people from marginalized groups who might not feel safe expressing themselves in real life, especially younger folks. Not to mention the amount of real-time news we get that other sites suppress, such as the raw footage from Gaza or people organizing healthcare protests.
Does TikTok have issues specific to its platform? Undeniably. It's a digital meth house where I got flagged for the using the fuck word in a lyric. But when you find yourself dealing with a meth house, you don't take a wrecking ball to it and evict the residents. Banning Tiktok won't stop the widespread trends that other social media sites have now adopted. We still have short-form content. We still have algorithms tailoring our feed for the maximum dopamine rush while bombarding us with ads. Companies are still harvesting and selling our data. The worst people you can think of still have a Wi-Fi connection.
What will happen if TikTok is banned is that all these people and all these problems will be dispersed even further, making them even harder to address. All the while, it sets a dangerous new precedent for government censorship and the level of power it has over our information and communication. I don't know about you, but the shit I can't access worries me a lot more than all the shit I can.
I don't get it. Why does it have to be at the opposite ends of the spectrum? Women rarely get their own space at all. The house is decorated for show. They are also made to give up their hobbies "for family." Let each have their own space. Or decorate together. My shurikens with you GOT Stark sword. My shounen manga with your shoujo manga. Let's do it together.
I’ve seen this new trend of girls posting videos like “I hate my boyfriend for bringing all of his stupid boy things into our apartment when we moved in together 🙄” and then pictures of his hot wheels collection or a Halloween skeleton or an extremely cool pirate flag. Give him to me you do not deserve him.
The backgrounds are immaculate.
