Hello everyone!

FYI, there is someone tracking the 'sherlock' and 'holmes' tags (perhaps more tags are affected, but these are the ones that we are aware of). That someone targets people who create new posts in these tags - be it text posts, gifsets or edits - and use this copypasta template in order to send anonymous hate and unsolicited accusations to the content creators (either that, or all of us hacked their computer, Microsoft word and private Tumblr in unison and stole all of their private work without crediting it. Also, let’s pretend that the incorrect quote in this case is not a public joke and that none of the sources has been stated :D). 

Below you can find a couple of examples - everyone involved has been very kind and agreed for these to be shared in here as a warning to others:   1. @winter2112rose was attacked in this nasty post:

4. One more example to share is this message sent to @married-to-google-translater. Again, does the template look familiar?

These are only a few examples of creators that have been inappropriately targeted and accused by this person / or a group of people that have obviously too much time on their hands.

If you do get a message similar to these, save your energy. Do not try to engage in a conversation with a bully - be kind to yourself, you deserve it! Ignore this kind of message altogether (you can also report it if you feel like it), but do not let it discourage you from doing the amazing and original work that you are doing. You are awesome and the fandom loves you!

i used to read smut as a minor, you used to read smut as a minor, your fav authors used to read smut as minors, and minors still read smut today. there is no way we can prevent or change this.

but you know what i DIDN'T do when reading smut as a minor? interact with it or the authors. i kept to myself, got my fill, and then stayed away. it really wasn't hard.

whether or not minors should read smut at all is debatable. on the one hand, it can be a fun and safe way to explore your sexuality through fantasy, rather than going out there and catching STIs and getting pregnant. on the other, the smut fanfic corner of the internet is vast and largely unmoderated; it is likely you will stumble upon topics/kinks/stories that can be traumatic or harmful to some individuals. reading about fictional sex and intimacy may also create unrealistic expectations about real-life sex and intimacy.

but regardless of the moral/ethical intricacies of minors reading smut, the fact remains that teens are very often horny, and once a horny teen sets their mind to reading smutty fic about their favorite characters, there's nothing we can do to stop them.

then, what can we do? well, a few things:

- we can maintain our boundaries and continue to block minors and ageless blogs that follow us

- we can continue to impress upon minors who stumble upon our blogs the importance of respecting those boundaries

- we can continue to tag our smutty fanfic thoroughly and appropriately, so people can avoid things that they know will be harmful for them to read

- we can continue having discussions about fantasy vs reality, and what is and is not healthy in a real-life sexual or intimate scenario/relationship

in my opinion, shaming minors for reading smut altogether only does more harm than good - the more a kid is shamed for their sexuality, the more they try to hide it and the more likely they are to engage in risky sex. that doesn't mean we shouldn't shame them for not respecting a DNI boundary.

i don't have a witty, cutting conclusion to this rant, so i'll conclude by saying that i think the only way to protect everyone best is to be realistic, firm, and kind in the manner in which we address this issue. shaming kids for being horny isn't gonna get us anywhere at all.

On this day, 26 February 2012, Trayvon Martin, an unarmed Black child, was shot and killed by a neighbourhood watch volunteer in Sanford, Florida. Martin was born in Florida on February 5, 1995, and later attended Dr Michael M Krop high school where he played sports, and mathematics was said to be his favourite subject. He had a keen interest in aviation and considered becoming a pilot. Initially, Sanford police filed no charges against the killer. But marches and protests had begun breaking out across the United States, and the Black Lives Matter movement was born. As public pressure grew, charges of second-degree murder were eventually filed, but the killer was acquitted. The killer also later sold the gun he used to an anonymous buyer for $250,000, and in 2019 he sued the Martin family and others for $100 million.
