I thought it over and I now think this is very unlikely to be the reason the person said nao instead of nou

obviously a lot of ink has been spilled on how prefacing statements with "I'm not even gonna TRY to pronounce that!" is way worse than just. trying and getting it wrong

but what really bothers me is when people mispronounce something very badly even though it's written using a phonetic alphabet

This blog is how I get recs for new UTAUs to listen to

Sakebi is really good, I hope there are more synths out there with quirky concepts like screaming

Sakebi-chan! Managed by 狼少女21号, her voice provider (according to VocaDB) is 衣川狼.

Releasing April 2nd, 2012, Sakebi-chan is a voice bank made entirely from high pitched shouts. She's a demon, she has no known age, and her favorite thing is Girls.

There's not really a lot to go off of with ol' Sakebi, at least in English, she's just a weird little guy. Her official site is still up surprisingly, and her download link (I believe, take this with a grain of salt) was updated in 2017, but I think that might've just been because the original link was broken and so the uploader fixed it. She's also no longer on the UTAU fandom wiki for some reason?

I love her a lot, even if I don't get to use her much, her voice is very situational.

Also I just learned, Sakebi was designed by Matsuda Toki. It's a small world ig.

It's the Da He Ding! Chinese ritual bronzes should be contemplated while reading Bataille on sacrifice

I was always amazed by the elaborate surrealism in ancient bronze. The examples are not limited to this famous Square Humanoid Ding (人面銅方鼎). My friend calls it "Shang era TV-set."

Animalistic motifs are common in household items and especially ritual items of the Shang and Zhou eras. However, such Janus-like vessels were rare even in those good old days.

In Yume Nikki,

Isn't the idea that the staircase to the sky garden is a step pyramid entirely inspired by people mischaracterizing the Paracas art as "Mesoamerican?" People assume it's an Aztec or Maya pyramid. But the only reference to Indigenous Americas culture is Paracas imagery, which has no particular connection to the distant Mesoamerican region. So there really isn't any reason to assume these steps are part of some kind of Aztec or Maya structure

people who try to turn being 'weird' into just another way of being virtuous don't really understand what they're doing. Being a social outcast will always mean being in a category that includes perpetrators of evil.

it was illuminating to be in Japan and see how this side of Ghibli is much more prominent over there.

I don't hate their creative works, but I hate how they are held on a pedestal above other anime, and seen as superior, more 'wholesome...'

I hope other things become more popular

I feel as if studio ghibli films being reduced to their 'cozyness' would be tragic if not for the fact that it is a deliberate branding thing for them. from the ghibli museum to the revolving door of hot topic collabs, miyazaki and/or the people he puts in charge of these things are aware of how desirable the worlds within ghibli films are. even at that, how meaningful is the politics of howl's moving castle being motivated by miyazaki's outrage at the 2003 iraq invasion when you examine it alongside the actual text of the wind rises? what does the environmentalism of ponyo mean when faced with the massive amounts of waste generated by ghibli merch you can get at wal mart? i'm straying from the point here but

This picture of a 'shanty town' in Peru looks quite similar to the Barracks Settlement in Yume Nikki! Especially how it is located in a desert. This lines up with the other Peruvian references in Yume Nikki, namely the Paracas style art and the Inca motif on Madotsuki's character design.

This map is probably 90% done but I'm very tired of working on it
