Title of Fic: "Ocean Nora"
Author: KathleenDee
Fandom/Pairing: "Rizzoli & Isles", Maura Isles and Jane Rizzoli ("Rizzles")
TW: /
Rating: M
Synopsis: Set in the canonical Rizzoli & Isles universe, this story is a Jane and Maura love story worth reading. Maura is the one here who finally makes a tentative move - and Jane finds herself wondering... When they finally acknowledge that there is more between them than "just friendship", they decide to take things slow but explore their romantic feelings for one another after years of not giving in to temptation.
"Ocean Nora" beautifully explores the main character's feelings, their thoughts, their actions. It is incredible how the author managed to get not only Jane and Maura just right, but also all the side characters that appear throughout the story. It is full of warmth, fluff, but also some slightly angsty moments. The slow-burn here is written exquisitely well, you find yourself rooting for the detective and the medical examiner so much it makes you forget everything else around you.
Also, the way the author writes about Jane's cases and Maura's autopsies is utterly brilliant, they're woven into the plot seamlessly, it's basically like watching Rizzoli & Isles on TV only better because we get the love story we're all pining for!
I found myself wishing more than once that KathleenDee could have been an actuall screenwriter for the show cuz "Ocean Nora" would actually be the perfect take on Rizzles!
I'm still a little speechless about the way the fic writer poured her heart and stoul into this story. The time and effort writing this gem of a story must have taken up - I'm in awe and I'll never cease to be madly in love with this brilliant, heartwarming piece of writing.
Please note that while this fic is currently not finished, you get 45 chapters of absolute quality content that will keep you up well into the night - I just could not tear myself away from it. No matter if this ever again gets updated or not, if you ship Rizzles, this should be one of the fics to not miss out on.
Jane 'why does this feel so right?' Rizzoli, everybody.
I think it's a sign of good media when you have to reread or rewatch it to get the full experience. First time is for getting your brain blasted by the story and being confused second time is for knowing who's who and what's what and willingly getting your brain blasted again.
I wish this was how Capitalism actually worked
for anyone who needs to hear this!
Honestly I'm currently only rewatching older Law and Order: SVU seasons but I will very likely never watch the new ones without Amanda Rollins in it! She seriously is one of the best, nuanced, most complex characters of the show and watching her growth and her development really was one of the best parts of the later seasons, so why exactly let such an interesting character go???? I could warm to Amaro and Rollins and even Carisi, but I'm not interested in doing that again and again. It's like Grey's Anatomy, at some point I simply stop caring when they introduce new characters because it's just not the same anymore...
Every time I remember Kelli Giddish is leaving I start seething. Rollisi was just getting to a pivotal moment and I want to scream, Mariska fought for her and who is this new dillweed who thinks Rollins is the one who needs to leave. Rollins is one of the most complex characters on svu and she has had so much growth the last 3 seasons learning to love and be loved, I cannot fathom this reasoning
Just watched "The Banshees of Inisherin" and it's been such an emotional rollercoaster in the most satisfying way... go watch it, you won't regret it
Okay, but season 2 episode 2 of Rizzoli & Isles?! It's somehow so sweet and tender and desperately makes me want to write a fluffy Rizzles fic about them becoming parents together… I actually already have some ideas how this could go, now I just need days to be longer so I can write lol… In the meantime, I'll just continue to gush about them with the baby - I mean, Maura is defo looking at Jane and smiling to herself as if she's wondering what it would be like to have kids together with her..ugh, imagine how cute that would be^-^
Side note: Love how Maura is so kind with Jane's mom Angela, like the way she immediately buys the painting Angela had created herself and that she even sets her up as a kangaroo carer for premature newborns… it makes Jane go so soft for her, Maura is simply the best wife she could ever hope for * awwws*
Once again, I find myself thinking about that Cabenson kiss that was filmed, but never saw the light of the day.
Please think before you comment on people's physical traits/appearance! There is NO NEED WHATSOEVER to shame, belittle or otherwise mess with someone's feelings because of something as superficial and unimportant than looks!! It's dumb, it's insensitive, it's unnecessary, uncalled for and oftentimes simply cruel.
Care for some examples?
I was walking my dogs once and stopped at a local dogpark where an elder woman started chatting to me. She was nice enough, but all of a sudden she asked why I didn't get my teeth fix. Yeah, I am 100% aware that I have crooked front teeth. I don't really care, I accept them the way they are, back then I also was not generally in a good mental state and such a comment felt downright mean and utterly out of place. Luckily, I was able to tell her as much by coolly stating that this was none of her business and that it's extremely impolite and rude to say something like that...
I've also had several occassions in my life where people told me negative things about my hair which is not only rude, but also plain racist. European, white people telling me, a PoC, that I should get another hairstyle 'cuz it would look "much better"?! I mean, do they even know what they are suggesting?! Yeah, get over it; not everybody needs to have fair, straight hair. I like my hair the way it is naturally: curly, sometimes a little messy, and whenever I dye it, I do it because I enjoy being colorful (I had it pink for quite some time), but that's my decision and no one else's business and maybe these people should take a long hard look at themselves and understand how utterly brainwashed they have been to believe that there is exactly ONE way of being beautiful/handsome/pretty.
Also, do not comment on people's weight!! Seriously?! Why is this even still a thing?! You know NOTHING about a person's history, about their eating habits, their routines, you don't know whether they are struggling with an eating disorder and you certainly don't get to decide what their body has to look like for them to like and celebrate themselves!! It's just not okay to tell someone "Oh, you used to be so thin, what happened?" or "You have lost way too much weight, it doesn't suit you at all!" or "You've grown fat since I last saw you" - CUT THAT SH*T!!
Also, you don't have to comment on other people's fashion preferences; if you don't want to wear skinny jeans or leoprints or bright neon colors or cheap shoes or wheaver, well, you are not obliged to do so, but let other people wear whatever they want and just LEAVE THEM ALONE.
I don't care about canon, I want The Gay TM
"that ship isn't canon! that character isn't gay!" well thats not what the voices told me
