I don't actually live near a library, as I live in a pretty rural village. But damn, I wish I do. Something about them just sounds so enchanting, rows upon rows of weathered and worn books, passed down from holder to holder. Even to someone who's unfortunately lost their spark for reading, it sounds like paradise.
My favourite LotR headcanon is that the existence of hobbits implies the existence of bits, creatures so small they are harder to find than someone wearing the One Ring.
This series is canon, as far as I'm concerned
Something I decided to cook up to celebrate the completion of the AHS 1 edit (YES THE FIRST BOOK HAS BEEN OVERHAULED AND IT'S SO MUCH BETTER NOW GO REREAD IF YOU LIKED IT PLEASE!! I PROMISE IT'S WORTH IT!)
Ripred & Henry are one of my favorite dynamics to write in AHS 3 and I adore how far they've come and where they started.
That and Henry in general. This is your AHS 1 vs AHS 3 Henry comparison as well (yes, ALL the text here are actual quotes from the books.)
Honestly, Ripred should start to consider paying rent with how much he and his words of harsh but wise truth live in Henry's head 🤣
Maybe I am just overreacting. Maybe it is just British weather. But I just can't shake this feeling of doubt and concern. The weather has been getting more and more extreme each year too. Sure, I've always known it was important and dangerous, but I've never felt this way about climate change before, and it's starting to concern me.
mmmm, writer juice
One of the best writing advice I have gotten in all the months I have been writing is "if you can't go anywhere from a sentence, the problem isn't in you, it's in the last sentence." and I'm mad because it works so well and barely anyone talks about it. If you're stuck at a line, go back. Backspace those last two lines and write it from another angle or take it to some other route. You're stuck because you thought up to that exact sentence and nothing after that. Well, delete that sentence, make your brain think because the dead end is gone. It has worked wonders for me for so long it's unreal

doomed lovers? tragic, sure. but doomed siblings? the same blood is running through our veins, but the differences between us feel insurmountable. i love you. i hate you. sometimes i think i would’ve died without you. you drive me insane. i would take a bullet for you. i’d kill someone for you. i know you better than myself. i feel like i don’t know you at all. our parents failed us. you left me. i left you. you taught me how to love. you taught me how to be loved. i’m sorry. i miss you. i never want to see you again. i only ever wanted you to stay.
noted.
my writing fundamentally changed forever ten years ago when i realized you could use sentence structure to control people’s heart rates. is this still forbidden knowledge or does everyone know it now
I can see why
Flowers have a long history of symbolism that you can incorporate into your writing to give subtext.
Symbolism varies between cultures and customs, and these particular examples come from Victorian Era Britain. You'll find examples of this symbolism in many well-known novels of the era!
