The fact Chuuya calls Akutagawa "my boy Akutagawa" is not only sweet on his part but also SALTY towards Dazai?
Like Chuuya saw this kid getting treated like that by Dazai and decided "no no no, HE'S MINE"
The background friendship of Akutagawa and Chuuya will always be heartwarming to me. And this is completely in character for Chuuya, he has shown affection to Kenji, Elise and Q (in the manga, anthology, official arts, etc.)
Sure Atsushi can be Dazai's favourite, but Akutagawa is Chuuya's, always.
Dazai: We're like a big happy family! And I am the dad, and Kunikida's the mom!
Kunikida: why am I the mom? What gender roles are we pushing here?
Atsushi: I know they are probably thinking I am the son. But I am not. I will be the gay emo cousin.
Junichiro: I will be the son, that hotshot whose only dream is...to be a starβ¨
Ranpo: I feel like I'll be a fresh out of jail uncle
Yosano: and I am the sassy aunt, who talks shit about everyone
Dazai getting out of Chuuya's apartment in the morning: πΆ
Atsushi getting out of Akutagawa's apartment in the morning: πΆ
Dazai: let's keep this a secret between us and not tell anyone about this in the ADA
Atsushi: deal.
My mom thinks I am in a cult. No, The secret history, iwwv, and dead poet's society are not books/movie, it's a religion.
The Greek Class didn't destroy Richard, he brought that on himself.
He chose to be destroyed and I am sure a part of him wanted to be.
He's the type of person who wants to be different, to be admired, to be apart from normal people.
That's why he tried to get in the Greek class in the first place even when Julian rejected him ounce, he wanted to be with the elites, to be exclusive.
Richard does show remorse for his actions at times but that doesn't mean he didn't find it thrilling.
He wanted an adventure, to see a tragedy, to be part of something dramatic and exciting. He was bored in his little town, around distant parents and normal friends.
He has always felt like he was above other people and he does look down on others who don't understand or follow his ideals.
His idolization of the Greek class is the reason he got destroyed, he was blinded by the opportunity to be included and accepted by them that he didn't look back at the mistakes he made for them.
Richard's story is a cautionary tale about foregoing your sanity and ethics for a broken, one sided friendship. They used him again and again, he did everything for them. Never questioning what he was really doing.
In the end, he was never a part of their group.
He was just there.

Sskk are making me go crazzzzyyy ahhhh
Aku watching Atsushi "die" ahhhhhh. His "were-tiger" nickname feels way too gentle rt now
"why did you protect me?" Because you protected him, you fool. Let him protect you!!!! Akutagawa you deserve to be protected too πππππ
I always felt like Dazai and Akutagawa are very similar. Both of them are constantly looking for reasons to live. It's so sad that this was the reason Aku joined the PM, just like Dazai did. To find a reason to live for.
Dazai just left without an explanation, leaving Akutagawa behind.
Aku's jealousy of Dazai getting a "new better boy" hits the heart. Seeing how Dazai's approval was his will to live.
The mirroring of both Aku and Atsushi having thoughts about Dazai at the same time!!!! And on one hand Aku is seeing the Dazai in the past and Atsushi is seeing him in the present. PM Dazai and ADA Dazai are both one in the same but they are very different in what type of mentors they are.
Atsushi knows now this wasn't Dazai, he has been hearing him in his head for a long time, and all this time it wasn't him???? ππππ
"And then...and then" how about I cry???? ππππ
Atsushi CHANGED Akutagawa's perspective on life. I love everything about this. I love the way Atsushi changes people's ideas about the world. He has done that to Dazai, Kyouka, Lucy and now Akutagawa.
We now know that when Atsushi and him fought together, ("let's do this together") Aku felt something. Maybe a want for support.
If they are not besties after all this ends, bickering with each other and working together then I don't know why this all happened. I want a sskk trying to be friends arc so bad rn πππππ. Atsushi SAW Akutagawa's past, he knows his trauma, Aku already knew his. This is a perfect starting point for them to understand eachother.
Everytime I see them together, it drives me crazy at how layered their relationship is.
I want them to drink tea together. I want Aku to stop caring about Dazai's approval. I want Atsushi to believe in himself. I want them to be happy.
Richard: hey guys do you want to...
Henry: We threw a bacchanal
Richard: whaaa...
Henry: Bunny saw us with blood on
Richard: wait what...
Henry: he blackmailed us for months and I had to shut his mouth by taking him on a trip to Italy.
Richard: why don't you go to the police?
Henry: police are not real, Richard.
Fyodor gets captured just to flirt with his rivals--------the biggest man-whore of all man-whores
Probably had an affair with Ceaser, Alex the great, Jesus, Napoleon, British/French kings and other prominent people to make history what it is today π
I don't know about other characters but if there was a TSH adaptation on screen (which I hope is directed and written by Donna herself) then my fancast for Julian is Steve Carrel.
Julian is charismatic and friendly, all knowing or at least seeming so, a talker, a mystic type of person. He isn't young but has young features and greying hair but still handsome. He is supposed to make you want to listen to him all the time and Steve Carrel just exudes that energy.
Just the idea of Atsushi going out of his way to decorate his house for the new years using all the money he has to make Kyouka happy comes into my head----
I do think ever since Kyouka moved in with Atsushi he has changed his lifestyle. He bought new furniture, he makes good food at home and keeps the house warm. Cuz Atsushi is never letting his little sister have anything less than what she deserves.
Kunikida: Atsushi came to get his salary in advance again. Do you want me to check on him?
Fukuzawa: no, don't. It's fine
Kunikida: I hope he's not wasting his money like Dazai does....
Fukuzawa: he doesn't. I know it.
*meanwhile*
Kyouka: you didn't have to buy the bunny plushie, I didn't need it!
Atsushi: of course I had to. It's your Christmas gift.
Kyouka: I don't need gifts. I already have everything
Atsushi: no you don't. I want you to have all the things a little girl should have
Kyouka: I already have you, I didn't need anything else.
Atsushi: *starts crying*
Kyouka: *pat pat* I made some cake big bro, let's eat.
