the thing about the way that eddie talks is that he doesn’t leave room for doubt or misinterpretation when it comes to telling buck exactly what role he has in the diaz boys’ lives. “there’s no one else I trust more with my son.” “no one else will fight for my son as hard as you.” “that’s what I want for him.”
it’s not “I trust you” or “I appreciate how much you love my son”, no. eddie has told Buck over and over again that he’s his number one.
If you and your partner practice frequent, non-sexual consent, your relationship will be healthier and easier.
“Are you comfortable with me ranting about my day for a few minutes?”
“Oh, this is your poetry? Would it be okay if I read it?”
“Do you mind if I use your phone for a few minutes?”
“Wow, your meal looks awesome. Could I try some?”
It will save a lot of grief, especially in a developing relationship. Eventually, with consistent “yes’s” and “no’s” you can figure out more permanent boundaries and guidelines.
“I need to ask before ranting about my day or taking their food, but my partner is okay with me using their phone whenever. However, my partner does not like me reading their poetry unless they offer first.”
Being a writer is writing 3,000 words at 4 in the morning and then not touching your work for a month

『 09/10』
Jamie Tartt neurodivergent CONFIRMED this episode with that breakdown because I too want to just move my body around when I’m too emotionally overwhelmed and ALSO don’t have any idea how to articulate what I’m feeling or why
Now let me tell you why
@astralgabriel posted this gif recently and I realized
Look who he makes a bee-line for
He doesn’t even look at anyone else, he just books it to Sam immediately and he jumps in front of him no one else. He looks almost worried, very protective.
He stops immediately in front of Sam and turns around ready to fuck shit up, knowing damn well he isn’t strong enough to take them, but he still planted himself in front of Sam and I’m emotional.
LOOK AT HIM SQUARING UP IN FRONT OF SAM
He only starts to relax when he realizes Lucifer killed the angels. But guys if you notice, everytime there was something major happening he always checked on Sam and focused on Sam. Just like he stared at Sam before he stepped up to Michael. He looked at Sam back in hammer of the gods. Sam always seems to be the most important thing in his mind in stressful situations. I feel like that little scene in exodus should get more recognition so here @softiesabriel please notice my post ahh. @letbuckyeathisgoddamnplums
Buck is not a tactile person, at least not in the way we think.
I know in fanon and fanfics, many of us (especially me) love to imagine Buck as someone who constantly presses these small touches into the ones he loves. Except, he doesn't.
Don't misunderstand, Buck thrives on physical affection. Some of his happiest moments are when he receives that form of love. Except, when he gives it, it's almost always under a specific condition.
Buck waits for near-explicit consent.
Hear me out:
It's not as if he doesn't touch people, but it's very much a needed-as situation on the job and then rare occasions such as celebrations with the team. And again, it's never those small, mindless touches of someone who just wants to physically feel someone they care for.
Even in the scariest moments, he waits.
And we can infer he accepted her permission because we see Buck this terrified for a loved one the very next season. Except, he doesn't get any request for comfort or form of consent then.
They're both obviously in critical condition. Both need medical attention immediately. Yet, Buck takes the time to hug and comfort Maddie because she asked for it.
He clearly doesn't mind either option. He's overjoyed just to see them alive. And that's the point. For Buck, these interactions aren't about him. Which is why he doesn't actively pursue them. (Not saying he shouldn't. I, personally, think he should.)
This is a perspective I think many authors can take advantage of when writing fanfiction.
I am not saying to stop writing Buck as openly tactile. I'm saying write both. Write either. Write it all. I need more of this when I search my ship.
And in case you didn't know, EDDIE is the one more openly, physically affectionate between the two of them. 100%. But that's a separate post if you want it.
Also, Buck does not hold these standards when it comes to Chris. Also another post.
The only time I could actively remember Buck touching Eddie without consent (when he wasn't saving his life). Season 2x14 "Broken". This wasn't the first time Eddie had been in danger, but it was the first time he was in danger without Buck there. They were ready to run into the house after he didn't respond on the radio. Eddie came out after his "Spiderman" routine, saving a child in the process. Buck couldn't help himself.
(Just gonna mention how the physical distance between these two has only grown after every time Eddie's needed help... Hmm...)
Prompt - “use your words, baby”
☺️
hello! Using this prompt for my royal trans buck au that should be out in Nov (praying that the days I've lost don't fuck me up)
Eddie ducks his head down, kissing up his neck and then along his jaw. He lets out a shaky breath, hands still glued to the wall.
“Everyone talked about what a charmer you were, how you had all these people falling over you from just a glance in their direction. So what is about me that makes you so nervous?” Eddie makes eye contact with him again and he tries to chuckle a bit, playing off his nervousness, but it comes out as more of a whimper than anything. Eddie leans back into his neck, teeth lightly scraping there.
“Use your words, baby.” And Buck lets out a ragged moan he’s never heard from himself before. He wants to clasp a hand over his mouth and prevent something like that from happening again, but Eddie is smiling into his neck so he assumes something is going right.
“Not sure you really want me to answer,” Buck tries to save face and play it cool.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“The way you’re touching me… right in the hallways where anyone can see…” Buck tsks, “it’s indecent, even for a king, my lord.” His heart hammers as Eddie grinds forward, hips probably searching for a bulge they won’t find and so Buck turns around. It’s not the smoothest transition because Eddie is so close to him, but he allows Buck the space to move once he realizes what’s happening.
“Well I could also say the way you look has filled me with indecent thoughts for days. And I would love for the chance to act on them.
So what am I supposed to do when Eddie obviously makes the mistake one day and calls Buck Christopher’s other dad like give me a scene of Chris asking a question and Eddie just nonchalantly goes “I don’t know ask your dad.” Or a “Christopher listen to your father.” What then your honor, what am I supposed to do?
So, we all know that Eddie hated Buck so easily saying he was the one who should’ve been shot.
But can we take a minute to acknowledge how much it also hurt him? He’s not just exasperated. There’s a reason he’s so emotional talking about it later.
It’s absolutely gut wrenching to hear someone you love talk about themselves like they don’t matter. Like their life doesn’t matter. And Eddie has been listening to Buck’s self-deprecation for a long time.
This was just what finally broke him.
