unsorted | park sunghoon x male!reader
pairing: sunghoon x male!reader genre: fluff !! words: 3.1k notes: have you ever had that one person in your past that you just never forgot? what if they went out and looked for you??? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA just knew this trope for almost all the fandoms i've been but not here?? atleast for male readers?? so i had to do it to em!! LOL
"Want this pack of chips I've got?" You offered the silent boy a small pack of cheese-flavored chips, looking at him with a bright smile on your face. The playful glint in your eyes seemed to lighten the mood of the cramped elevator.
"Uhm..." He muttered, clearly unsure what to do with it, his gaze darting back and forth as if searching for an escape route from the awkwardness.
"Don't worry!" You shook the pack in front of him, the crinkling sound breaking the silence. "It's not that cheesy! But it is tasty, hehe." Your enthusiasm was infectious.
The boy examined you with a long gaze, taking in the way the cheese dust coated your fingertips. It was messy, but somehow charming. You were obviously bigger than him, and that felt... strange. Yet, there was something comforting about it. Knowing he had someone to share this moment with in a hellish, broken elevator made him smile, even if it was just a little.
"Oh! You smile!" You cheered, noticing the small smirk forming on his lips. His laughter echoed softly as you both shared a moment of joy, the tension lifting slightly.
"Of course I do." He fiddled with his hands, the skating gloves protecting his fragile fingers. "I'm not a robot."
"Hmm." You put your hand on your chin, trying to think deeply, which made you look even more playful. "Well, my friend has this big robot at his house."
The boy's eyes widened with curiosity. "Really?"
"Yeah! It will definitely blow your mind." You twirled your fingers in the air, mimicking an explosion. "Even dances like a real person!"
"Whoa..." The boy was fascinated by the topic. A robot that dances seemed to spark an interest in him, lighting up his expression. It may sound childish, but he was definitely hooked on the idea of it.
Even though it was 2016, technology still held a certain magic for him. He had never been spoiled with so much toys or even a nice phone, but the thought of a dancing robot captivated him. It was a world he could only dream of, and he liked the idea of entertaining people too.
"Yeah!" You spoke as you continued to munch on your chips, the cheesy flavor making your eyes sparkle. "I'm sure you have one! You look rich."
The boy tilted his head, confused by the compliment. He looked... rich? His family can barely afford their lifestyle, opting to travel overseas just to find cheaper skating lessons. Was it the way he dressed? Or the way he spoke? He felt uncomfortable at that observation but couldn’t blame you for it.
Looking back at you, he wondered about your own life. How did you experience the world? You seemed so carefree, so mature, yet so childlike. Where did you get all this energy? He could only wish to play with someone like you, a normal boy.
"Wait..." You asked, sensing his silence. "You must be a prince or something!"
The boy could only look down at the ground, his thoughts drowning out your words.
Realizing the shift in his demeanor, you quickly stood up and walked to his side. You playfully slid your back against the metallic wall of the elevator, settling down next to him.
"You good?" You spoke softly, trying to catch his attention.
"Y-yeah..." He mumbled, still avoiding your gaze.
Curious, you held the bag of chips in front of his face, and he flinched at the sudden movement.
"You sure you're not hungry?" You asked, still offering the bag, your voice full of warmth and kindness.
"I'm not a kid..." The boy thought for a moment, when his stomach growled deep in response. The two boys looked at each other.
Sunghoon sighed. "You really are persistent, huh?"
You laughed, surprised by his response. "Not hungry?"
He took the pack of chips from your hands, quickly grabbing whatever he could.
"Wait a minute..." He looked at you, his expression turning from excitement to confusion.
"Hmmm?" You tilted your head, not yet realizing the issue.
"It’s just dust!" He whined, clearly disappointed as he peered into the bag.
"Wah?" You looked inside the bag, brow furrowed. "No, it's not! There's still more stuff. Look harder."
The boy, still wanting to complain, peered back down into the bag. Indeed, there were still bits of chips at the bottom, the smell of cheese and salt wafting up and making his stomach grumble again.
Suddenly, a loud noise interrupted the moment. "Is..."
"What?" You asked, confusion etched on your face.
"That was you, wasn't it?" He asked, realizing how loud his stomach had been.
"No way." The boy answered, bringing the bag up to his face and taking a handful of chips.
"Wah, hey!" You exclaimed, half-laughing, half-worried as you watched him devour the remnants. You wanted to either save some for yourself or scold him for eating so quickly.
After he wiped his lips clean, satisfaction washed over his face. "That was good." He tried to flick the dust off his gloves, but it was futile; they were already stained.
"Thank you," he added, unsure if he should be embarrassed or grateful.
You assumed a reply was coming, and took a deep breath, but what came next was entirely unexpected.
"Wah! Your face!" You chuckled, unable to contain yourself as you noticed the remnants of cheese dust on his cheeks. It was too funny not to laugh at.
"What?" The boy asked, genuinely confused, his brows furrowing.
"Haha, look!" You raised a finger and tried to wipe the dust off his face, unintentionally smearing it across his cheeks. "Cheese!"
His eyes went wide as he realized how messy he looked, and he quickly tried to wipe his face with his gloves. In the process, he only managed to dirty them further.
"Oh no," he muttered, anxiety creeping in. His mother would definitely get angry.
"Huh?" You looked at him, before spotting the dirtied gloves.
"Take those gloves off then," you suggested. "Let's take it off so it doesn't bother you."
He hesitated, thinking about the consequences of his actions, but ultimately decided to let his hands free from the tight grip of his gloves. As he tried to salvage them, you continued to brush his face clean, your touch gentle and caring.
Noticing how close you were, the boy felt a warmth spread across his cheeks, turning bright red. He was mesmerized by the way your hands moved on his face.
Embarrassed, he instinctively moved away, refusing to let you touch him anymore.
"Oh?" You spoke, a playful tone in your voice. "I... I'm just cleaning it."
"I- I can do it," he stammered, trembling at the situation. Why on earth was he blushing about a boy in front of him? He didn't want to like that, but the touch of your hand on his cheek felt... nice.
Alarming both of them, the elevator suddenly jolted, and the doors opened revealing the bright lights of the mall.
"Ah! We're safe!!" You jumped up high, cheering at the top of your lungs. The boy, still dazed, could only think about the warmth of your touch when suddenly, you wrapped your hands around his and clasped them tightly.
You were holding his hand... you were holding his hand.
Even as you jumped for joy, and as the guards entered the elevator to safely assess the two of you, he couldn't get that moment out of his mind.
He liked the warmth he felt from you. It was like a fire he wanted to bathe in. Like a moth drawn to a flame, you occupied his thoughts for a while.
After getting rescued by the mall security, your mother came to talk to you, but you noticed that Sunghoon looked a bit... melancholic. It didn't sit well with you, and as you approached, you could hear how his mom and dad talked down to him. Your heart ached for him.
Running carefree, you walked towards him, determined to cheer him up.
"Hey!" You shouted when you saw him again, and he felt a rush of warmth as his face flushed.
"You good?"
Was he good? He couldn't even think straight...
"Hey..." You tried to communicate, catching his attention one last time.
"Yes?"
"You alright?" You asked, genuinely concerned but trying not to pry. You were just a kid after all.
"Y-yeah." The boy noticed how you had gone silent, while his parents looked at you with uncertainty before walking a bit farther away.
"You know, my mom told me you were a skater!" You exclaimed, your eyes lighting up as if a huge star had twinkled right beside him.
That's why you were dressed so elegantly. It was a beautiful costume that made him stand out.
"Y-yeah." He replied shyly, feeling the warmth of your compliment.
"You wear those blade things, right?" You asked, your curiosity spilling over as you admired him.
"Right??" You repeated, as if needing confirmation.
"Yes. And they're called roller blades."
"How do you not cut yourself?" You asked, your eyes wide with intrigue.
"You uhh..." The boy thought for a moment, trying to give a proper answer. "You really have to be careful."
"Woah..." You smiled, leaning closer as if he had just revealed a great secret. That was definitely something fascinating for you.
"Yeah." He nodded, seeing how your face lit up with admiration. "Why?"
"Why? Can't your new best friend ask you?"
"New best friend?" That was sudden. But not that he minded.
"Yeah!" You declared with confidence, your eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Who decided that?" The boy asked, amused.
"Me!" You chirped, causing him to giggle softly at your boldness.
"Of course it's you." He smiled, feeling a bit closer to you than he had earlier.
"Yeah!" You beamed back, your joy infectious and making his cheeks heat up a little. He was becoming fond of you already.
"We shared food together and I like you!" You announced proudly. "So now, we're best friends!"
"L-like?" The boy stuttered, clearly surprised by your declaration.
"Yeah!" You replied without a second thought. You both were definitely on different pages.
"Ahh..." The boy smiled, the word 'like' resonating with him in a pleasant way. To him, it beautifully described this interaction.
He liked you.
"Can I just say? You're definitely cuter than any other girl classmate I have." You smiled brightly. "Really!"
Okay, maybe you were on the same page together.
But for the boy? That heated his face even further, turning it bright red.
"And you have the cutest moles too..." You pointed out as you looked at his small face. "Look!"
He instinctively covered his face in embarrassment, wishing he could disappear into the ground. Even at the young age of 14, this was not how he pictured his simple day going.
Suddenly, he heard his parents call out to him. With your ears perking up, you held his arm, trying to talk to him one last time.
"Wait!"
The boy looked back at you, confusion evident on his face.
"Hmm?" He glanced at you, still holding onto his arm.
"What's your name?" You asked, your tone playful yet sincere.
It felt ridiculous not to know, but it was fair; he didn’t want too much attention anyway. Relaxing, he smiled softly.
"Park Sunghoon." He beamed, showing off his shy smile. "I... I skate professionally."
"Ahh..."
"And you?"
You gave your name, and Sunghoon made sure to remember it, etching that smile into his memory.
"It's ... a beautiful name." Sunghoon looked at you with fascination written all over his face.
"So is yours!" You cheered, making him giggle at that.
As he ran to catch up with his parents, you bid farewell to the skater, your heart a bit heavy at the parting.
As for Sunghoon, he couldn't care less about his performance for the day. Instead, he was only thinking of your name, itching to write it down in his notebook back at the hotel.
"I'll have to remember it," he thought to himself, gazing out the car window as the city lights glimmered against the darkening sky.
Unbeknownst to him, his future self would retire gracefully from skating. But being scouted as an idol wasn’t so bad, as he would later join a company focused on training the next big stars.
Yet, with everything that happened, nothing changed whenever he thought of you. There wasn't a single day that he didn't wonder what you were currently doing.
Did you pursue something amazing, like medicine or law? Did you commit to a good job that paid well?
Had you moved on from the memory of him? Had you dated anyone in your school or neighborhood?
And what about him? He definitely failed to forget you.
In the end, your memory lingered in his mind, like a song on repeat. Sunghoon had your name written in his heart with permanent ink, occupying a specific part of his brain that continued to wander.
Then, when he finally debuted, he could finally come to your country.
Finally, he had a way to see you again. To find you at least. To see you one last time before he let's go of that precious memory.
As he was on tour inside a shopping mall, Sunghoon browsed through a selection of fragrances. He couldn't wait to try some, fascinated by the exclusive items only sold at this location.
As if by random chance, he looked out the window and saw the bright sun shining outside the hall. Children played, adults walked by, and the scene was warm and cozy.
In a split second, he caught sight of the most unexpected thing he had ever seen through the thin glass.
You, standing there, exchanging a call with someone on your phone.
Sunghoon couldn't believe it. It was you. Really you. After all those years of not seeing your face, he was shocked to recognize that familiar sliver of hair. Maybe it was the way you stood? The way you carried yourself? Or just your eyes?
He couldn't even fathom it. Even after examining every angle, only he could recognize you from afar.
As you began to walk away, Sunghoon let go of his bags and handed them to his manager, rushing after you in a split second.
The wind whipped around him as he pushed through time and distance. He needed to see if it was really you. If it was your eyes he recognized, your stature, or just the very essence of you.
In his mind, he was set on one thing: finding you.
With what seemed like a goose chase, Sunghoon finally caught up to you.
Thinking of a way to get your attention, he recalled all the things he had practiced saying if you ever met again.
"Hey! It's Sunghoon. The skater guy? ... No."
"Hi! I'm Sunghoon's Enhype... shit."
"Hello? I... I think I know you?" Coming up with a quick line, he tapped your shoulder and waited for a response, his heart racing.
As he waited for you to turn, he steeled himself. Until he saw your face.
Or not.
"Sunghoon!!" It was a fan who just happened to be there. Thinking he was so utterly screwed; he stood frozen as he watched people flood around him. Smiling sheepishly, he scanned the crowd, searching for you again.
Suddenly, a tug pulled him out like a fish from the wild crowd.
"Get your head down, you're too tall." A whispering tone spoke to him, as if only he could understand. He nodded, prioritizing his safety as he ducked down.
Slowly, the stranger led him to a nearby exit door. It was a closed space, away from prying eyes, secluded from the bustling crowd.
"What were you trying to do over there? Public execution?" Sunghoon turned his head upwards, finally catching his breath. In that moment, he stood stiff, planted like a log on the ground.
The familiar eyes, the stature, the confident aura... it was you.
You found him first.
"Remember m-"
Before he could finish, a tight hug enveloped your body as you spoke. It wasn't just any hug; it was a warm embrace that expressed how much he longed to see you again. Even for just a second, he would sacrifice it all to be with you.
He never knew he missed you this much. Way too much.
"I remember you." As cheesy as it sounded, he gripped onto you tightly, cherishing the moment he had yearned for so long.
He met that boy again.
He was here with you, again.
You could only smile back, hugging him just as tightly. There were no words needed; only the warmth you two shared at that moment.
He was happy. And so were you.
After that, you talked and talked for moments, forgetting everything else around you.
Sunghoon was definitely smiling as he learned about your life and your dreams.
And you? You were happy to see how well he was taking care of himself. He was definitely taller than last time, and—
"You became even more handsome. Or pretty?" You smiled, taking in his physicality. Sunghoon couldn’t help but brush his hand through his hair, flustered and shy.
"Even better than the girls in your school?" Sunghoon quoted, still having that engraved in his mind.
It took you a second to understand, before bursting out in laughter.
"What?"
"Huh?"
"You remember that?"
"Of course." He chuckled softly. He remembered every little detail, replaying it like a favorite movie in his head.
You looked at him, seeing his genuine affection take center stage.
"Even better than anyone else." The way you said it made Sunghoon’s heart race.
Caught off guard with your boldness, he had no hesitations. With a rush of sweet adrenaline, he grabbed your face and kissed you with all the warmth and affection he had kept inside.
It was a kiss he had reserved just for you, his first.
As he pulled away, a bright smile adorned his features, his laughter bubbling up in childish joy.
"That... that was definitely a first." You stammered, feeling a bit taken back to be kissed like that.
"Yeah, I... I have no idea what a kiss with a guy should be."
"Oh, so you’ve kissed girls before?"
"No." That was quite a response.
"No?" You thought. You seemed ... relieved at that too?
"Never kissed a girl." Sunghoon replied straightforwardly. "My mind was filled with thoughts of only you."
You laughed again, finding it absurd that he had such thoughts of you.
"Seriously?!"
"Really." Sunghoon smiled. "You were very persistent in my head, even after everything. Even when you weren't there."
You looked at him, seeing his genuine affection take center stage.
"Same." You hugged him again, resting your head on his broad shoulder. Sunghoon liked that, caressing your back as you enjoyed having your weight upon his frame.
You stayed like that for a while, reminiscing and rekindling the bond you both had formed.
One thing was clear: Sunghoon wasn’t going to forget you anytime soon.
And neither would you.

Your days at school began like any other student's. Each day was a repetitive cycle of subjects you had to endure until the semester ended. You had memorized these lessons long ago, yet still found yourself sitting in class, trying to absorb the material. It was exhausting, but deep down, you loved the thrill of academics. School was a place of peace for you, a welcome escape from home, which felt far away. It was a place you cherished, filled with the laughter of friends and the buzz of youthful dreams.
However, if you could choose to be anywhere else, it certainly wouldn't be your school, especially not during the school's founding celebration fair. To make matters worse, your friend had signed you up to help out at your class's assigned booth — the kissing booth.
You rested your head against your hand, manning the busy booth with an aloof gaze. It wasn't that you disliked helping; it was just that you hadn’t volunteered for this. You watched the chaos unfold around you, the energy of the fair buzzing like a live wire. Everywhere you looked, students were laughing, playing games, and enjoying the festivities. But here you were, stationed at the kissing booth, a reluctant participant in this social spectacle.
"Thanks again for helping out!" a classmate chimed in, trying to lift your spirits. His bright smile was infectious, but you only managed a half-hearted nod.
"Ugh... it’s not like I had a choice. Joey signed me up before I could protest," you replied, rolling your eyes.
"Joey did? She's a riot!" your classmate laughed nervously, glancing at you. Your glare silenced him. "Oh! I mean... she's just so... um, enthusiastic, right?"
"It’s for fun!" Joey interjected, crashing into the conversation, her energy palpable. The other student bolted away as if he had just seen a ghost.
"Aren't you allowed to have fun, Mr. President?" Joey turned her gaze to you as she held her hands onto your shoulders.
You sighed, leaning back in your chair. Making friends in high school was challenging enough, but when people clung to you like they were your lifeline, things got complicated. Joey had always stuck to you like glue. As you grew to tolerate her presence, she introduced you to 'normal high school things'—experiences you had only read about in books or seen in movies. You felt like you could only refuse her so many times before she'd throw a tantrum.
"Again, it's ACTING president. I've only been called that since the new semester started, okay?" you corrected her, a hint of frustration creeping into your voice.
"Yeah, right. You'll definitely win again if you ever run. It’s your calling!" she teased, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"That’s why I can't be here," you said, standing up, feeling the weight of tiredness settling on your shoulders.
Joey grabbed your arm, pulling you back down. You knew this would happen, but it never hurt to try and escape, right?
"Hey! Not again!" she sighed, exasperated. "You've only been here for two hours! I promised you food, right? Just help out at the booth."
You shot her a glare but couldn't keep the corners of your mouth from twitching upward. "Fine, but I can’t promise I won’t try to escape again. It’s exhausting watching people come in and out of this booth."
Joey looked where you pointed, a smirk growing on her face. "Why? Curious about what happens there?"
You shot her an incredulous look, but she only saw the red flush creeping across your cheeks.
"What?" she defended, eyes sparkling with mischief. "Ding ding ding?"
"No one’s interested!" you exclaimed, covering your face in embarrassment. Joey just laughed, the sound ringing like music in the chaos around you.
"Sure! It isn’t a big deal. Not at all~" she sang, and you couldn’t help but feel a bit of warmth at her playful attitude.
As you chatted with Joey, a commotion erupted nearby, followed by a wave of cheers.
"Aahh! It's the soccer team!"
"The boys! The boys!"
The crowd erupted as the campus soccer team made their entrance, radiating an undeniable charm. With their impressive recent state champion title win for the nth time, and their unrealistic and striking looks, they were the stars of the event. You could see the excitement in the air, students gushing over their favorite players, the thrill of being close to someone so admired.
One of them, clearly the leader, locked eyes with you and bit his lip. "Hey~" he called out, confidence radiating like a warm sun on a cold day, having brushed his hair back, a gesture that seemed to send the crowd into a frenzy.
You blinked, looking to your side. "Uh... who are you talking to?" You felt your heart race, unsure if he was really addressing you. "Me?"
The guy grinned, stepping closer, and you could feel the heat radiating from him. "Oh definitely. You're really adorable up close, huh?"
You rolled your eyes, convinced this must be one of those pranks online. But he didn’t back down; instead, he moved closer to your ticket table, his presence both thrilling and intimidating.
"Ahem ... To purchase a ticket for the booth, please ensure you have your partner with you. All pairs come first," you stated, reading the fine print from the paper in your hands, trying to maintain your composure.
"Good then." He flashed you his ID. "Jake Sim."
"Jake Sim," you repeated, scribbling his name down. "Who would you be taking to the kissing booth?"
You looked behind him as his members stood still. "One of them?" You snickered.
"Kissing booth?" Jake's eyes widened in surprise, who seemingly haven't heard you talk for that second. "This isn't just a regular dating booth?"
You sighed, feeling an exasperated laugh bubble up. Of course, it isn't. The dating booth idea was scrapped due to budget constraints, leaving this more intimate alternative. There wasn't anything you can do at that point, even though you were the council's ACTING president.
"Yes."
"Shoot..." Jake checked his breath, a sudden look of concern washing over his face. You couldn’t help but chuckle at his sudden panic.
You laughed lightly. "Mint?"
He shot you a look, as if to say don’t look at me right now.
"Huh? I'm good!" he declared, spraying some fresh mist into his mouth. "See? Nothing happened." he smirked, spreading his arms wide, clearly trying to charm you.
"I still can't give you a ticket," you replied firmly, crossing your arms.
"Why?" he pressed, a playful challenge in his eyes.
"You have no partner—"
"I can take you with me, can't I?" he cut in, blunt and straightforward, his eagerness palpable.
It felt as if time had frozen. He looked at you with eager anticipation, and you could only respond with confusion, your heart fluttering unexpectedly.
"Me?" you stammered, flustered. "You can't possibly think of me as—"
Suddenly, you heard a whirlwind of chaos behind you, like a storm brewing in your booth.
"Two dollars, and he's yours!" Joey shouted, tossing you toward Jake with a mischievous grin.
"That's more like it!" Jake said, handing over the bills to Joey and waving goodbye as he led you toward the booth.
"Thank you for the donation!" Joey called after you, her voice fading as you felt your heart racing faster than ever.
"Two dollars?!" you exclaimed, shooting a death glare at Joey, who simply smiled and waved goodbye, leaving you feeling wronged yet slightly amused.
"Trust me! You’re worth more than that!" she whispered dramatically, retreating into the crowd.
You felt your blood boil at the suddenness of it all, yet something else stopped you in your tracks. It was as if time had paused again, leaving only the two of you in this moment filled with tension and unspoken words.
"This is ridiculous," you mumbled, avoiding Jake's gaze. Beads of sweat trickled down your forehead, and you wiped them away with your hands, feeling the heat of embarrassment creeping up.
Jake laughed, drawing closer, his presence overwhelming and oddly comforting.
"What?" You looked at him.
"I'm just trying to understand why you don’t want me kissing you," he said with that playful grin that made your heart skip a beat. "I mean, everybody wants a piece of me."
So bold?! You rolled your eyes at his audacity. "What an airhead you are..."
Airhead? I thought people liked confident guys. Jake pondered, trying to maintain his charming facade.
"Heh. Am I an airhead?" he scoffed, a playful smirk on his face. "Isn’t it just because I know what I like?"
"Ugh." You mimicked your friend's signature sassy move. "Do NOT tell me that."
Am I already screwing this up? Jake’s mind raced, unable to keep up with his facade crumbling under the pressure.
"Can’t we just enjoy this moment between us, babe?" Jake said, leaning in and pressing his hands beside your head. Your eyes widened in shock, and you felt your heart hammering in your chest.
That's it, look flustered… please? Jake thought desperately, a hint of vulnerability breaking through his bravado.
You stared at him, disbelief washing over you. He was already making a move with something as cringeworthy as this? And calling you by such a boring pet name? You couldn't even imagine the other ridiculous things he might do. Maybe he would—
KISS YOU?! In a blink, his lips met yours, soft as a cloud brushing against your skin.
In that instant, something snapped within you. You tried to push him away, but he only deepened the kiss, and you felt something strange sliding between your mouths.
"Hey!" you exclaimed, trying to pull away.
"What—"
"A tongue?!" you gasped, staring at him, bewildered. Jake chuckled, clearly enjoying your reaction, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
"What? I’m not doing anything," he smirked, knowing full well what he was doing.
"You snuck that devilish tip of your tongue into my mouth!" you accused, covering your face as heat rushed to your cheeks, embarrassment flooding your senses.
"Oh come on, you liked it," Jake teased, his confidence unwavering.
Did you? He wondered, feeling a mix of hope and doubt.
"That’s it! You had your time!" you declared, storming away, embarrassed and flustered. "Enjoy, then get lost!"
As you walked away, you shot one last glance over your shoulder, throwing out something Jake never thought he’d hear directed at him.
"Weirdo..." you muttered, shaking your head in disbelief, a mixture of confusion and exhilaration swirling inside you.
Jake stood there, feeling like a lost puppy searching for its owner. The thrill of the kiss lingered on his lips, but the sting of embarrassment washed over him.
Somewhere on campus, you could almost hear his loud screams of agony.
His friends rushed over, concern etched on their faces. "Hey, Jake!" a couple of teammates called, finding their captain lying on the ground, kicking his feet in shame.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!" Jake screamed again, all his efforts feeling wasted, his face buried in his hands as if he could hide from the world.
"Oh my god, he’s breaking down..." Joey remarked, stepping into the booth. She quickly closed the curtains, glancing at the curious onlookers, knowing too well the rumors that would fly around.
"Shh! People will get the wrong idea about our booth! This is NOT a screamo booth; the main stage is down by the garden pavilion."
Jake grabbed one of his larger teammates, his eyes wide with despair. "He looked at me like I was DIRTY!!!" he cried, trying to wipe away his tears, but failing miserably.
"Are you ... crying?!" Joey exclaimed, her eyes wide in disbelief.
"Yes, I’m crying!" Jake declared, wiping his face in a panic, his emotions spilling over.
"Captain, your image—"
"Who cares!" Jake slumped back down, defeated. "He probably thinks I’m a loser at this point... What gives?"
A heavy silence blanketed the booth, the weight of the moment pressing down on him.
"It’s not like it’s the last chance you’ll ever get, you know cap?" one teammate said, trying to console him, though the words felt hollow in the air.
"But..." Jake murmured, his confidence wavering.
Another teammate stood up, raising his fist in determination. "You’re Jake Sim, our all-powerful soccer team captain! You can do anything!"
Jake slowly lifted his gaze, intrigued by their words, the fire within him beginning to reignite.
"And you can make up for it!" his teammates urged. "Then you’ll get that chance!"
He considered his situation. If he could somehow make up for what he did with you, it would earn him some serious brownie points, right? Maybe then he'd finally get the chance to ask you out.
"Okay!" Jake declared, standing tall and raising his fist triumphantly. "I’ll try better this time!"
"That’s the spirit, Captain Jake!" his teammates cheered, ending with a loud burst of laughter, their camaraderie lifting his spirits.
"Ugh... you guys are hopeless." Joey facepalmed, shaking her head in disbelief as she tried to suppress a smile. "Whatever... that’s not my business..."
As the fair continued around them, Jake felt a newfound determination swell within him. He couldn't let this moment define him; he had to make things right. With a deep breath, he plotted his next move, ready to win you over, one awkward attempt at a time.
I really wanted to make Jake someone who tries too hard to get someone's attention, only making himself a pitiful sack of potatoes by the end of the ordeal. DONT WORRY he should be able to get the guy right ...right?!

notes: HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY TO EVERYONE!! i wrote some feel good stories for my three boyos right here, and hopefully they can fill your heart this lovely dayyy~
As you leaned back in your chair, you wondered how much longer this work could drag on. One hour? Two? Four? The thought alone made you feel drained.
Things like this wear you out the most. Having an online meeting is one thing, but dealing with foreign guests and board members—on top of a hectic schedule and the constant pressure—was something else entirely.
Suddenly, you felt a blistering, frozen kiss against your cheek.
"Ah!" You jolted, turning slowly to see your handsome lover holding out a drink for you. You wiped the sweat from your forehead as he brought the cup close.
"Bored?" he asked, his voice deep and smooth.
"You know it," you replied, rolling your eyes.
Ni-ki walked closer and set a drink down on your desk, landing it safely atop a small wooden coaster.
"Ohh! Matcha!" you cheered, spotting the familiar green hue. Of course, he ordered your favorite.
Ni-ki smiled at you, then playfully pinched your cheek. "Don’t get sleepy. It’s important, right?" he teased. And it WAS important.
"Ugh... they’re just talking." You couldn’t help but roll your eyes again.
"And?" Ni-ki raised an eyebrow, noticing how deflated you looked in your chair. "You gotta work. Unless you want me to drink that milk tea of yours?"
"Waa, no!" you exclaimed, your eyes wide.
Ni-ki laughed, doubling over as soft cackles escaped him.
"Leave it!" you pleaded.
"Alright, alright, I’ll let it be." Ni-ki turned to head back to the living room. "I’ll just be here."
"No work?" you asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No work," Ni-ki replied casually, strolling out. "So you’ve got me for the day."
You barely noticed his last words as the volume of your meeting suddenly surged in your ear.
"Thank you for the drink, hon!" you called out, trying to shout over the noise.
Ni-ki smiled as he settled onto the couch, making himself comfortable while he waited for you to finish.
Sure, it was Valentine’s Day, but neither you nor Ni-ki needed a special occasion to express your love. Through ups and downs, you always found ways to mend mistakes and be there for each other. Ni-ki cherished your resilience and determination as you pursued your dreams while building a life together. He felt a sense of fulfillment, knowing he had a meaningful purpose beyond just being someone’s idol.
He was yours. And you were his. He was fulfilled.
"Oh lordie," you muttered under your breath, stifling a yawn. You slowly swiveled your chair and glanced at the clock on the wall.
"Oh my god!" you gasped. "I’ve been here for that long?!"
Rushing to get out of your office, you quickly slipped on your inside slippers and sprinted to the door.
As you opened it, a gentle breeze greeted you, and you saw the television screen playing what seemed to be a Nat Geo documentary.
"Pfft…" you snickered. "Of course he’s watching ducks."
You walked slowly into the living room, taking in the comfortable couch and the equally comfortable man sprawled out on his side.
"Why is he hugging the couch again?" you mumbled, remembering how chaotic Ni-ki could be when he slept.
As you approached, you gently lifted one of his hanging legs to place it down on the couch again.
He let out a deep groan and turned onto his back, still lost in slumber.
You couldn’t help but admire his features; his lips looked irresistibly seductive at that moment.
With three cautious steps, you knelt beside him and laid your legs on the floor, inching closer to his face. Your fingers brushed against his soft cheeks.
"And you say you’re not cute anymore," you grinned, swiping a bit of hair from his beautiful face.
"Aren’t you something..." you pondered aloud.
"I want something," Ni-ki mumbled, eyes still shut, startling you for a moment.
"Goodn—What do you want?" you teased, holding his sleepy hand in yours.
"Isn’t it obvious?" he pouted, his lips teasingly close to a smile. With his eyes closed, it seemed he was pretending to be asleep, maybe just waiting for a kiss.
You rolled your eyes, pretending to be annoyed, but deep down, you loved this playful side of him.
Then, you leaned in and placed a perfect kiss on his lips, the warmth so fine and sprinkled with just the right amount of love. The moment felt surreal; who in their right mind would waste such a beautiful experience?
None. No one at all. Certainly not you.
"Mmh," Ni-ki hummed, "you taste so good."
You laughed, resting your hand against his chest as you felt yourself getting lost in the moment.
"You!" you sniffed playfully, inhaling a fresh breath of air. "You’re so annoying!"
Ni-ki smiled at you, his eyes slowly opening.
"I know," he said, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "And I know you can’t say anything else that works as well as that."
He cupped your face gently. "Thank you, hon."
"Mhm."
"For being here with me. Every day. Every second. Every passing moment."
You smiled back. "Heh… that’s so not like you to talk like that."
"So just listen to me," Ni-ki said softly. You nodded, unable to resist his earnest gaze.
"I will forever thank you," he continued, his heart full of gratitude. "Even if it’s Valentine’s Day or not."
You shot him a surprised look. "It was?!"
"Pff," Ni-ki snickered.
"Hey! Hon!"
"It was," he confirmed. "But it doesn’t matter; I had a good rest."
"But—" you gasped, realizing a thought. "Did you take the day off for us to go out?!"
Ni-ki burst into laughter, propping himself up from where he was lying. "I knew you’d say that! C'mon, hon!"
You looked at him with tears of joy in your eyes. "But!"
"There’s always tomorrow, and the day after that, and every hour we have together in this life," Ni-ki assured you, his hand gently cupping your chin.
"We’re always going to celebrate our love, one way or another."
"Hehehe..." You giggled as the wind blew, sending a shiver under your skin.
It was only natural; you weren’t used to this much cold, but it was okay. You were used to something else.
Someone else.
"Baby!" Jake called out, walking a few paces ahead as he tried to find something on his map. "Taking your time?"
"Yup!" you replied, diligently following the trail while rubbing your hands together. It was February, but the wind still felt frigid. You had packed the warmest coat you could find, yet it seemed you were still unprepared.
What you didn’t notice was Jake, glancing back at you with a long, hopeful look. He was concerned you weren’t tired, bored, or anything else negative about this trip. After all, it was his idea to push through. He felt guilty, knowing you still weren’t quite used to such weather.
"Aish!" Jake exclaimed, hurriedly tucking his phone away in his pocket.
Suddenly, your lover knelt in front of you—but not directly in front, rather with his back facing you.
"What are you—"
"I told you, use my back!" Jake insisted, offering his back for you to ride on. It sounded slightly dirty, but you got the point.
"Ugh, no way." You declined, playfully pinching his ear to tip him off balance.
"Hey!" Jake flinched, then chased after you.
After what felt like your two-hundredth step, a tight warmth enveloped you. It felt good, but not because it was necessarily warm. It was Jake.
"Baby..." he cooed, sounding a little dejected.
"I told you..."
"And I told you back!" He pouted. "Use my back!"
You sighed, a puff of steam escaping your lips. Jake walked to your side and held your hand.
"I didn’t work so hard to get rejected after proving my strength, baby." He looked at you, confidence radiating from him. You couldn’t help but laugh.
"Ugh, is this the part where you let me touch your muscles or something to prove you’re 'built right'?"
"I would!" Jake raised his hands dramatically. "But it’s freezing… we can skip that part. What’s important is that you get on my back."
Jake insisted, turning around again to offer his back.
"You’re hopeless." You sighed with a cheerful laugh.
"I am!" Jake replied, grinning. "In love with you~"
You playfully swatted his neck as he carefully hoisted you onto his back for a piggyback ride. With every step toward the top, Jake took his time to keep you safe.
"Why is it called a piggyback?" he suddenly asked.
"You're asking me that question?" you shot back.
"What? I’m curious!" he said, genuinely invested.
"Uhh..." you stalled, trying to think.
"Come on!" Jake continued walking, keeping the conversation going. "Between us, there are at least two brain cells. And they all belong to you."
You laughed. "Jake, if humans only had that much, I don’t think they’d be alive."
Jake gasped in mock horror. "Just answer me, babe! Why is it called piggyback?"
You sighed, burying your face in his nape.
"Etymology says that the word may have been corrupted or altered through time… they say the original word must’ve been 'pickaback,' then before that 'pickapack,' then 'pickpack.'" You groaned, regretting how useless that knowledge felt.
"See?" Jake cheered. "You’re the smartest, most handsome, and most adorable boyfriend one could love. I’m just so proud."
It always warmed your heart when Jake spoke like that. He was genuine, and you knew he meant every word.
"Were you thinking it was some kind of person carrying a pig?" you asked, holding onto his shoulder tightly.
"N-no...?" Jake glanced away, clearly having thought that.
You sighed. "No, Jake, you can’t tame a pig with carrots. And you can’t bait them with a carrot on a stick either."
"C’mon, that’s childish!" Jake defended himself. He had a reputation to uphold.
"Yet you still think Minecraft's based on real life," you snickered. "Fine, fine."
Jake laughed, knowing he might have looked a tad silly. But real or not, he knew his feelings for you were genuine.
You were real, and so was he. This relationship? It was real. This love? It was real.
"Hah!" Jake paused in his tracks after a few more steps, seemingly out of breath.
Once you both checked around to see if you were at the right spot, you quickly jumped off his back.
"You’re not bad," you jested, causing Jake to give you an incredulous look.
"Not bad?" he feigned offense, raising his voice playfully.
"Fineeee." You walked toward him and gave him a sweet kiss. "Five stars. Would ride again."
Jake blushed, pouting his bottom lip out with raised eyebrows.
"Oh come on!" You swatted his side as he reacted dramatically—predictably, yet still endearingly.
As you continued walking to where Jake had led you, he suddenly pointed excitedly.
"Baby, look!" Jake exclaimed, gesturing toward a field. "Here!"
Curious, you followed his finger and soon saw what he was excited about.
"AAAAAAAA!!" You swore you could’ve pushed Jake over the fence as you screamed in delight.
"Yeah! Yeah!" Jake cheered, obviously thrilled to see you so happy.
"LLAMAS!!" you shouted confidently, pointing toward the large herd gathering nearby.
"Close enough!" Jake chuckled, planting a kiss on your head. It was actually a herd of alpacas.
Walking slowly and finding your place in line, you couldn’t help but gaze at the adorable herd. And Jake? Well, he couldn’t help but gaze at you. You and only you.
"Happy Valentine’s," he whispered softly by your ear.
You rested your head against his padded chest, sneaking your hands inside his coat to feel that authentic Jake warmth.
"Thank you, my Valentine," you replied, your tone making Jake’s heart swell.
"Mhm…" he hummed back, caressing your side and hugging you like a koala. "Gonna hug you like this forever. Deal?"
"Never let go then." You looked up at him with a smile that could melt the thickest layers of ice.
Jake nodded. There were no other words but "Never." Or four. "Letting," "You," and "Go."
Or five. "Ever."
He showered you with kisses right then and there, each one tickling your cold skin. You flinched and cackled like a wacky, flailing inflatable tube man out of air. Hopefully, no one batted an eye at how loud you two were.
"Isn't this the set I gave you for your birthday?" Jay asked as he stumbled through your shared kitchen cabinets, clearly searching for something—a pot or two.
"Oh my god, yeah!" You shot a quick glance in his direction, setting down the groceries you had just brought from your car.
It had been a wild day, but maybe not that wild. You' and Jay had only gone to the grocery store for several essentials and missing ingredients, but there were huge lines everywhere. You could only guess everyone had the same idea as you and Jay 0 a nice Valentine's dinner at home.
"Oh!" Jay moved to the side as you quickly darted past him to grab the pots yourself. "What's the rush?"
"Ugh..." You sighed, taking a moment to catch your breath. "I just feel... awful."
"Huh?" Jay drew closer to you.
"I mean," you looked away, wiping the sweat from your brow, "you gave me this special set, and I STILL haven't used it..."
Jay looked at you, his expression softening as he understood.
"Jagi."
"Hmm?"
"Are you embarrassed because I brought you something like this?"
"I— No!" You looked away, flustered. "Listen, it's a good set! I'm just—"
Jay placed both his hands on your shoulders, reassuring you with a warm smile. "Jagi, don't feel bad." He moved a bit closer. "You must be keeping them for a reason, right?"
"Yeah." You looked away, fidgeting with your fingers. "I didn't want to touch them because they're a gift from you... you know me..."
Jay laughed lightly, looking at you once more. "Don't worry. We can have all the pots and pans in the world. If you treasure these pieces that much, we can—"
"We can!" You spoke loudly, catching your lover off guard.
"I—I mean... we can use it!" You smiled back at him. "It's time."
Jay couldn't help but beam with joy, planting a gentle kiss on your forehead as a 'thank you' before grabbing the pots himself.
"H-hey!" You tried to stand up as you took in that gentle moment for a bit. "I told you, jagi. I'm helping!"
He nodded as he prepared the pots and pans, wiping them down with a kitchen towel nearby. "Mhm."
"Mhm? I can?"
"You can." He pointed at the grocery bags behind him. "Have a start by taking out and preparing the ingredients."
Snapping back to reality, you immediately got to work. You knew how much Jay loved cooking, so you had to do your best, too.
In Jay's eyes, you seemed excited and engaged. It had been a while since you two had done a homemade dinner date. Usually, it was a quick pot of ramyeon or takeout from various restaurants.
But today was special—he was cooking with you.
Jay smiled wide as he watched you passionately prepare the food you brought home.
He took a moment to walk over to you, admiring how your hands expertly grazed the vegetables and meat with a sharp knife and precision.
"You do that so well," Jay said softly near your ear, making a blush creep onto your cheeks.
"Uh... I try..." You stammered, feeling shy under his gaze.
"You're an expert," he assured you, holding your hands together and guiding you as you cut the leeks. "But you always seem to be distracted every once in a while."
You knew what he was doing at that moment. All it took was Jay's fatal lower register and his breath close to you, his signature smirk playing on his lips.
"You're despicable..." You muttered, unable to hide your smile.
"Sure." Jay continued to gaze at you, admiring how your handsome face contrasted with his own. "And you're so undeniably delectable in every angle I see you." He traced your jaw with his own finger, slowly coming down towards your chest.
Without thinking, you turned around and kissed him right there. You set the knife aside, and Jay's fingers slipped inside your sleeves, pulling you closer.
With a gentle lift, you continued to kiss him, your back pressed against the kitchen column as all of his weight fall upon you. Jay's sorted collection of fine liquor on the column shook slightly with the movement.
"Be careful..." Jay whispered, but you couldn’t help yourself, kissing him again, indulging in the sweetness of his lips and letting yourself melt onto him.
In that moment, Jay could only confirm one thing: he couldn't control himself with you right beside him. And neither can you.
And that he loves you. He really loves you. So much. Okay, maybe that’s two things.
"This is so good!" you exclaimed, savoring the dish Jay had made, relishing the flavors that danced on your tongue.
Jay chuckled lightly, sipping a full glass of cabernet sauvignon. He loved having you as his drinking buddy; it made enjoying his wine so much more worthwhile. And the aftermath of the evening? That was definitely his favorite part.
You noticed Jay’s dazed look, almost seductive yet still curious.
"We just made out for 30 minutes," you said as you took a bite of the juicy sirloin steak on your other plate, not letting the moment go to waste. Jay did pay a hefty sum for it, no matter how much you insisted against it.
"Oh?" Jay replied, his tone inquisitive. "Pray tell, why are you aware of the time we spent doing so?"
You sighed in bashful embarrassment. "You and your urges..."
"Hmm?" Jay leaned in closer, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "You don’t like it when I’m like this?"
"I don’t... know," you admitted, feeling the heat rise in your cheeks. "It's so unfamiliar to me that I feel like I'm cheating... o-on you... with you..." You buried your face in your hands, while your lover laughed at your 'misery.'
"Hehe." You sighed again, hearing him laugh it off.
"What?"
"You're adorable, jagi," Jay smiled earnestly. "I just wanted to be something different for Valentine's."
"I roll my eyes as my ridiculous boyfriend tries to seduce me," you muttered under your breath. "It's just—"
"I love you." Jay's hand inched towards yours, his eyes sincere.
You locked eyes with him, seeing the genuine affection and care reflected there. That was Jay.
"I love you," you replied. "But don’t be too forward again! Or atleast warn me? My heart can’t take it."
Jay burst into laughter, almost throwing his glass aside.
"Don’t laugh!"
"What?" Jay asked, adjusting his chair. "I always want you. I just seem so nonchalant about it, but today, I've crossed my own line, and I gotta admit... that was fun."
You sighed one last time. "Is this your Valentine's Day gift?"
You caught Jay off-guard yet again, who could only lay back in his chair and surrender. "You got me."
"Pfft." You laughed, clearly amused. "Thank you."
After dinner, Jay’s eyes sparkled with excitement. "How about we make dessert together? I was thinking leche flan."
You grinned, remembering how your family made it during special occasions. "That sounds perfect! I haven't made it in ages."
As you gathered the ingredients insise your drawers and so, you felt a rush of nostalgia. You come from a family that had always been so loving and family-oriented, and making leche flan was a tradition that brought everyone together. You shared stories with Jay about your parents and how they had taught you the significance growing, staying, living, and being in-love together.
"I've always admired your bond with your family..." Jay said, breaking your reverie. "It makes me cherish our time together even more."
You smiled, feeling warmth spread through your heart. "They taught me all about what they knew about love. It's not just about how one person seems attractive, or impressive ... it’s about nurturing those bonds. I have that with you."
Jay nodded, his eyes sparkling. "I feel the same way. It’s like every moment we share is part of a bigger picture."
As you began preparing the leche flan, you took turns mixing the ingredients, laughing at the splashes of sweetened condensed milk that ended up on Jay’s cheek. "Look at you! You look like a mess," you teased.
He grinned, playfully wiping his cheek with the back of his hand. "Well, I think it adds character." You then kissed the splash just right off his cheek and you swore he got beet red for a while.
You both poured the mixture into a mold, Jay holding it steady while you carefully added the caramelized sugar. "See how it blends? Gosh I'm pumped!" you exclaimed, picturing how it would taste once it was chilled.
"I can already sense this flan is going to be a masterpiece," Jay said, leaning in with a playful glint in his eyes. "Just like us—full of flavor, a bit unpredictable, but ultimately beautiful."
You couldn’t help but smile at the thought, feeling the warmth radiate between you. "Mmh... just like the flan, every moment we share makes it all worthwhile."
Once the flan was safely nestled in the fridge to chill, you turned to Jay and wrapped your arms around him, feeling the comfort of his presence. "Thank you for ... loving me."
He pulled you closer. "There’s nowhere else I’d rather be." He then pressed a tender kiss to your forehead. "Loving you, that is."
You chuckled, lightly tapping him. "We're so sappy..."
"Is that SAP-possed to be funny?" Jay shot a joke at you. All you can do is burst into tears. lounging on the floor like a loon.
You we're definitely his best audience for his stand-up comedy.
