Star Gazing

Xavier x Reader

Sweet nights, him holding your hand, the world didn’t matter. You were both on the ground staring up at the stars, your boyfriend, Xavier, gently rubbed small circles on your hand.  Everything was perfect, he loved telling you about the different stars and constellations, you've never seen your boyfriend so happy.

“Look! There, the constellation of Leo,” Xavier said happily as he pointed at the stars. You tried to see it, but you only saw many stars.  He didn’t have to know that, though; he was having the time of his life, and that was the only thing that mattered to you currently.

“Did you know that Leo was one of the earliest recognized constellations in the sky?  Back then, the summer solstice was observed exactly in this constellation.  Which means it begins the flood of the Nile in Egypt.”   He said as he looked at you, as he was so eager to show you his knowledge.

You nodded, showing that you were listening to his talk as he yapped about the stars.  “Is that so?” You responded, looking into his eyes.  He nodded eagerly as he smiled again, you saw the little sparks of light of his evol dancing around you guys.  He was telling you random facts or just amazing things about space and different exoplanets that exist.

“There's a theory of a 9th planet, yet they say that this planet is far away and it is bigger than Jupiter.  This theory was started due to you needing things on two sides to balance something out. Which would be the same as the solar system.” He explained, looking far into the distance.  Silence grew between both of you only the wind was heard.  Then he turned around to look at you.

“My star…” He said, looking at you, his eyes showed a soft look at you. “There are billions of different stars out there..Yet I found the only star that really matters to me.”  He spoke gently, his words with deep affection as he gently put a strand of hair behind your ear.

Some Of Us Have Just Never Known Ease.

some of us have just never known ease.

we've known so much fear energy, and we've spent our lives with this feeling… like we're always on the verge of being in trouble for something. it's intangible, but it's always there… and the dream is to close our eyes someday and to just feel safe, to feel held by a universe that loves us.

Dance With Me - Xavier

You can feel the breeze rushing through the trees you hear overhead as their leaves rustle. The wind plays with the hem of your skirt, making it flutter around your legs. The gauzy material feels like a feather as it brushes against your legs.

"Where are we going, Xavier?" You ask as he leads you further into the woods. "You'll see, just trust me." He responds, squeezing your hand. You do trust him, Xavier would never lead you to harm. Of that, you are absolutely certain. But you can't deny that curiosity burning in you.

A week ago, Xavier had asked you to clear your day for the 14th. He wanted to take you somewhere. He'd also requested you wear the white dress with thin straps and the silver star pattern sweeping up the skirt. You paired the dress with white flats and left your hair down.

"How much further?" You asked, becoming increasingly antsy about where he was taking you. "We're almost there, promise." He answered as he grabbed your other hand. "Step up now." He said, guiding you onto a hard surface. Guessing that it had been a rock when he guided you to step down again right after.

The breeze blowing seemed more free here. The space felt bigger. A few more steps, and he stopped and let go of both hands and moved away. "Xavier?" You call holding your hands out in front, trying to search for him. Walking carefully so as no to tripnor stumbled.

Your hand came into contact with something warm, and you smiled in relief. Feeling the slow, steady beat of Xavier's heart. His hand curled over the top of yours. His fingers brushed your cheek as he carefully slid the blindfold off.

You blinked several times as your eyes adjusted to the light. Several orbs of light were floating around you, just suspended in air. Looking up, you saw that they had completely set and the stars were shining brightly, scattered across the sky without competition.

"Oh wow." You said in awe, looking around. A large checkered blanket had been laid out on the grass, and a wicker basket was set on one of the corners.

"You told me that you'd always wanted to picnic under the stars, so what do you think." He said, gesturing to his spread. He handed you a bouquet of red, purple, and burgundy roses. They were the largest blooms you had ever seen. "Happy Valentiens Day." He said softly, watching you intently.

"Oh, Xavier, these are beautiful!" You say after finding your voice. You hold the flowers in one hand and reach up to kiss him. Placing your free hand on his face as you do. He wraps his arms around your waist and bends down to you.

"I got your favorite foods. I did try to make something myself, but..". He trails off, scratching the side of his head. You laugh, knowing he was absolutely hopeless in the kitchen. He did much better when you cooked together, but on his own... You just couldn't understand where he was going wrong.

"It's ok." You say smiling up at him. His sheepish expression is just too cute. "I love you, not your cooking skills." He smiles softly, a faint pink on his cheeks and ears.

Xavier unpacks the basket and pours you a glass of wine. Sitting down next to him, you snack on the food, watching him quietly. He seems to be thinking about something.

"Did you know we're supposed yo have a meteor shower tonight?" He asks, showing you his phone screen. You glance down at the article he had been reading. "Wow, I wonder if we're in a good spot to see it." You say and go yo grab a cherry as Xavier is also reaching for one. Your fingers touch. Instead of grabbing one, Xavier laces his finger with yours.

You grab a cherry with your free hand and press it to his lips. He stared at you as he bites it. Your faces heats up from his intense eye contact. You blink and look away flustered.

"No fair." You mutter and hear him laugh softly. You never should have told him you loved his gaze and how deep his eyes were. He used the knowledge on you every opportunity.

He pulls out a portable radio from the basket and starts fiddling with it, seemingly trying to find a station signal.

A few minutes later and a voice comes out. "... and now, for all you valentine lovers out there on this special day, we bring you this next song." You recognize the opening notes of an old song that was popular about fifteen years ago.

Xavier stands up and offers you his hand as Adele's voice starts singing. "Dance with me." You smile and take his hand.

He brings you in close, holding you tightly against his body as he begins swaying with you slowly. The moon shines down on you brightly.

You press your ear against his chest, listening to his faster than normal heartbeat and close your eyes. The feeling of home was over you. Adele's sweet voice is in the background as her song draws to a close.

Even after the song is over, Xavier continues holding you as you slowly move about the clearing.

A while later, he's getting your attention and telling you to look up. Bright flicks of light are blinking across the sky one after another. Just a few at first and then dozens.

"Wow, how pretty." You reach a hand out as if to try and touch them. Leaning back into Xavier's arms, you watch the lights fly across the sky, thinking that there is no place in the galaxy you'd rather be than right here with Xavier right by your side.

****************************************************

Yes, I was listening to Adele while I wrote this. Guilty.

I know what you might be thinking. Why didn't I post Xavier's story yesterday? The answer is simple! I had a hard time writing his story and have myself an extra day! Hence why I posted the first one on the 9th.

I prolly wrote and rewrote this one seven times.

I love Xavier. But he is SO HARD for me to write without him being completely OOC! 😫

I did try really hard, I hope you love it!!

hii, im really a sucker for arguments/angst imagine HAHA can I please have a request for LaDS guys where they made you flinch in an argument (^_^;)

LaDS men when you flinch during an argument

pairings: Xavier, Zayne, Rafayel, Sylus, Caleb x Reader

content: arguments, hurt/comfort, misunderstandings if you squint

a/n: small break from the silly

Hii, Im Really A Sucker For Arguments/angst Imagine HAHA Can I Please Have A Request For LaDS Guys Where

Xavier

Xavier usually didn’t get worked up during arguments, he’d just observe.

He’d listen to everything you had to say, taking the words to heart but trying not to engage too much, especially when he noticed you were starting to get more animated.

This time, however, was different.

He was upset and he wanted you to know.

He wasn’t raising his voice, he wasn’t being mean or mocking but his face gave his inner conflict away.

You weren’t backing down and neither was he.

“I can hold my own and you know that Xavier, you’ve seen me in action.”

His sharp inhale didn’t go unnoticed by you,

“I’m not doubting that, not doubting you, I just need to know that you won’t get hurt.”

It’s like you two were talking right past each other,

“I won’t, we don’t need to be attached at the hip for you to know that!”

He turned around quickly,

“Yes but I want to be able to reach you quickly, to get to you in time-“

He took a fast, heavy step towards you, wanting you to see the sincerity and genuine concern on his face, what he didn’t anticipate was for you to flinch at his sudden approach.

He stopped, his words catching in his throat as he just… looked at you.

You stared up at him, hands balled up in front of you and he felt immense regret wash over him.

“You…”

He started but couldn’t finish the sentence, being at a loss for words.

You lowered your hands, trying to adapt a more relaxed stance,

“Xavier, I didn’t mean to…”

His head hung low now, his eyes covered by his bangs.

You could see his shoulders rise and fall with uneven breaths.

Silence stretched between the two of you.

“Xavier…”

You tried again, softer this time.

He didn’t respond, he was standing there, the internal conflict in his mind clear.

When his gaze finally met yours again, his expression left you breathless.

It wasn’t what you had expected, it wasn’t anger, not disappointed but aching.

“I would never…”

The words left him quietly, not able to voice out what exactly had gone down just now.

“I need you to believe that.”

“I do,”

You blurted out,

“It’s not your fault. You just surprised me and I-“

“I scared you.”

He finished for you.

“Even if I didn’t do it on purpose, I can’t just say that, that’s okay with me.”

You took a careful step closer, tension between the two of you starting to ease.

Xavier didn’t move, he just watched.

“I know you’re not trying to control me,”

You said.

“But I need you to trust the decisions I make. And that I can take care of myself and still come back to you.”

“I trust you.”

He murmured,

“But what if something happens and I’m not there? What if I won’t be able to reach you in time-“

He swallowed the “again” that was about to slip him,

He took a small breath and then looked down at his hands.

“…can I touch you?”

He asked, hesitantly.

“Just- your hand. If it’s okay.”

You immediately softened at that.

You nodded, yes.

“Of course.”

He inched closer, steps slow, making sure you took in every one of his movements.

His hand reached for yours, getting a hold of it as if it were something fragile.

He brushed the back of your hand with his thumb in an attempt to ground himself.

“I’m sorry.”

You held onto his hand tightly, squeezing.

“I’m glad you’re being open about your concern but don’t try and decide for me. You want to protect me and I want to protect you.”

The ghost of a smile showed on his lips.

He leaned closer, close enough for your breaths to mingle.

He whispered,

“I want to figure this out with you.”

And this time, when his hand lifted to touch your cheek, you leaned into it without hesitation.

Zayne

The silence between you and Zayne hung heavy in the hospital room, occasionally interrupted by the soft hums of the equipment around the room.

Your boyfriend had been trying, trying to get through to you.

Telling you to stop pushing your limits, to stop taking unnecessary risks.

Yet you brushed him off everytime.

And now the consequences sat between the two of you.

“You could’ve gotten seriously injured.”

His voice was laced with restrained emotion.

Your eyes were looking at everything but him, hands clenched into fists at your sides.

“I know. I just didn’t think-“

“Exactly. You didn’t think.”

He interrupted you, voice sharper than what you were used to.

His eyes were cold behind his glasses,

“I kept trying to tell you-“

He went to adjust his glasses, hand raising.

But out of instinct, you flinched at the sudden movement.

It wasn’t a big reaction, barely a twitch but it was enough to gain Zayne’s attention.

He froze.

His face fell and any trace of anger and disappointment gone.

Instead, it was replaced by hurt.

He started,

“I wasn’t going to-“

A shaky exhale left him,

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.”

Zayne stood awkwardly, his shoulders were tense, guilt reflecting in his eyes.

You looked up at him.

“It’s okay.”

Your eyes met, relief finally easing onto his face.

Still, he didn’t dare to move.

“…are you sure?”

You nodded, a small smile gracing your lips.

That’s when he stepped forward.

This time, not to lecture and to fight but just to be there.

Rafayel

A storm cloud was starting to form in the room.

The tension thick because of something more akin to a misunderstanding than an argument. At least that’s how Rafayel saw it.

He was gesturing animatedly, his voice was getting a little more heated than intended as he tried to explain himself, it was unusual for him to get so worked up over something he himself considered trivial.

Your arms were crossed, your brows were furrowed, frustration written on your face.

With one especially sudden swing of his arm, you flinched.

You stepped back a bit and Rafayel felt himself freeze as his words were caught in his throat.

He was staring at you, confusion and concern displayed on his face.

“Why?”

His voice had quieted down, soft.

“What… why did you react like that?”

You couldn’t immediately answer.

You were standing still, feeling guilty at that urge that had overcome you.

It was an instinctive reaction, not something you had realised in time to stop.

Rafayel hesitated, he could feel his hands twitch with the urge to reach out to you, wanting to comfort you but doubt filled his mind.

He was torn between wanting to pull you close and giving you the space you might’ve needed.

“Have I ever made you feel unsafe?”

His question wasn’t meant to make you feel guilty, it was sincere, making your heartbreak even more.

The raw vulnerability in his tone simply had your heart aching.

His question hung between you two, it was his way of asking for reassurance.

You shook your head, whispering,

“No,”

You put your hand over your heart,

“No, Rafayel. Never. I wasn’t expecting it. I didn’t mean to react like that.”

You could see some of the tension leave him.

The next time his eyes found yours, they were filled with the light echo of relief but also a hint of regret.

“I shouldn’t have gotten carried away like that.”

He stepped closer, gently wrapping his fingers around your wrist, an attempt to test the waters.

“Can I… hold you? Or do you want some space?”

You offered him a small, comforting smile,

“Come here, you big baby.”

A sigh of relief left him and he stepped closer to pull you into an embrace.

His hand brushed through your hair, as if attempting to make all your pain and sorrows go away.

“I’m sorry.”

He whispered against your ear, his voice low and sincere.

Sylus

Sylus and you stood opposite of each other, his face was devoid of any emotion but you could see his eyes, dark with frustration, showing his true feelings.

You went on a mission he warned you about, recklessly pushing ahead without considering any risks.

And lo and behold, it had gone sideways.

His arms were crossed over his chest and his breath came in sharp, controlled bursts.

“Do you think this is a game?”

His voice was firm, his words sharp.

“I told you not to go, not alone, and what do you do?”

“I could handle it.”

Cutting him off, you tried to stand your ground, though you could feel the anger radiating off of him.

As he let out a frustrated exhale, he threw his hand up, running it through his hair.

His movement was so fast and controlled, that you couldn’t help but flinch back, instinctively shrinking away.

The man facing you froze.

For a moment that felt far longer than it actually was, the room felt suffocating.

He stared at you with wide eyes, caught between something you couldn’t quite make out and something softer, something making his chest ache.

He felt overwhelmed by guilt.

“You know, Id never hurt you, right?”

His question was barely above a whisper.

His gaze softened, frustration replaced by something more vulnerable.

Your answer was caught in your throat.

You felt his gaze on you, watching you carefully, analysing your every move like you were something fragile, small.

Something to protect.

After a second, Sylus took a step back, creating some space between the two of you, giving you room to breathe.

He felt the weight of his actions making his shoulders sag.

He wanted to reach out, make sure you were okay but something in the back of his mind told him not, to not scare you further.

“I didn’t mean to scare you.”

The regret in his voice shining through,

“I was worried. And I often don’t know how to get that through to you without pushing.”

You lowered your head, letting his words settle, understanding him.

“I didn’t want you to think I wasn’t taking it seriously. I was just-“

You stopped yourself, inhaling, to collect your thoughts,

“I guess I just didn’t want to feel like I couldn’t handle it.”

Sylus watched you, his features softening.

He quietly said,

“You’re strong.”

A slow exhale,

“But you should know you have nothing to prove to me. All I ask for is to know that you’re safe.”

You searched for his eyes, finding worry and care still there.

They were always there.

Under all of it, even on the rare occasions that his frustrations got the better of him.

He muttered an apology, slowly closing the space between you.

“This won’t happen again.”

He kept up the eye contact as his hand reached out.

You didn’t flinch this time.

It came to rest on your shoulder, the slight pressure from his heavy hand grounding you.

It felt like an unspoken promise between the two of you.

He’d be by your side no matter what.

Caleb

Caleb’s voice was thick with concern, frustration and something he tried not to reveal to you often: fear.

He wasn’t one to argue, never one to raise his voice or escalate things, not when it came to you.

But this, this was about your safety and he couldn’t just stand to the side and not do anything.

“You’re not listening to me.”

His voice was steady, yet the edges let his worry show.

“You could’ve been hurt and you don’t even seem to care.”

Your arms were crossed tightly over your chest, brows furrowed.

You didn’t want to back down, wanting to stand your ground but you knew he was only acting like this because he cared.

Yet the ache of knowing he still doubted your capabilities pushed you to keep going.

“I can take care of myself.”

You said, frustration overtaking your voice,

“You’ve seen me in action before.”

In a moment of bad judgment, he thrust his arm out to emphasise his point, the movement swift.

Before he could even finish speaking, you flinched.

Caleb halted at that, words dying in his throat, eyes widening in realisation.

He felt his chest constrict slightly, breath hitching.

No, I-“

His voice cracked as he took a step back, face twisted in a display of guilt.

“I’m so sorry.”

He murmured, struggling to look you in the eyes.

Before you knew it, he dropped to his knees in front of you, face pale.

The slight tremble in his hands didn’t escape you, as he reached for you, not wanting to overstep but trying to lay his heart bare to you.

“I didn’t mean to scare you. I would never-“

He stopped mid sentence, shaking his head,

“I should’ve thought before… moving like that, acting like that.”

Your heart was pounding as you watched him bow his head in front of you, remorse clear on his face.

“I’m sorry.”

He said again, voice desperate.

“Please, just… tell me you’re okay. I didn’t mean to hurt you...”

He trailed off, wide eyes looking up at you, searching for a sign, any sign that you didn’t fear him, didn’t hate him.

He had to know that he didn’t destroy something he held so dear.

Swallowing the lump in your throat, you reached out, patting his head.

He stiffened at first, he was hesitant, but your warm touch seemed to reel him in.

“I’m okay.”

You reassured,

“It wasn’t your fault. It was just a reflex.”

Unbeknownst to you, Caleb wasn’t looking for reassurance, he was looking for forgiveness.

“Forgive me? Please?”

His voice was low, unsure, letting his insecurities and vulnerability show.

You knelt beside him, meeting his gaze with softness.

Cupping his face, you felt the warmth coming off him.

His breath was starting to steady slightly.

“Nothing to forgive you for…”

Your quiet voice reached his ears,

“I know you’d never hurt me, Caleb.”

He closed his eyes and leaned into your touch, resembling a puppy.

You closed the last of the space between you two, resting your forehead against his.

You and Caleb didn’t need words to understand one another.

˚₊·Zayne: Doctor-On-Call—̳͟͞͞♡

Part 1 (Xavier) | Next: Part 3

Ever since you and Zayne had been children, he had always been one of the boys a little closer to your age that you were comfortable being around with, especially during Winter.

You, Caleb, and Zayne had just come home from school and decided to play against each other in a snowball fight. Supposedly, it was a 1vs.1vs.1 kind of challenge but, Caleb couldn't leave you alone to defend for yourself as Caleb explained: "I'll always be here to protect you, I'd never leave you to fight for yourself".

But, in reality, that was only part of his actual reason. He actually just wanted to get back at Zayne for another one of his many petty reasons.

So, while you and Caleb were busy winning with a score leading of 5 against 4, Zayne decided to pull out his final blow. With no hesitation, Zayne formed a large snowball carefully placing it above his head and aiming it towards the small snow tower on the opposite side of the lawn.

You and Caleb were too busy building the fort to realize the huge snowball hurling towards you and could do nothing but stare at the size of the snowball and anticipate it's cold crash onto the both of you.

"Not fair, you used your evol!" Caleb yelled, digging himself out of the pile of snow and rolling a ball in his hands and tossing it over to Zayne. With Zaynezs evol in use, he freezes the ball before it could reach its impact towards him. "I could say the same to you, using your evol to control the weight of my snowballs was not a fair game at all".

The two began to bicker not realizing you were still very stuck in the snow pile. "Caleb! Zayne!", you called out, trying to dig yourself out of the pile of snow. Unlike Caleb and Zayne's taller and bigger physique compared to yours, it made it a lot harder for you to get yourself out of the pile. What a bunch of idiots, you'd think just 'cause they're older, they'd actually know any better than to bicker in a middle of a game.

It took you no longer than a good 10 minutes to wiggle yourself out of the snow and finally reach the surface. A mental note to yourself: never play with Caleb and Zayne at the same time during winter. As you were busy dusting off the snow from your jacket, you took a few peeks at the area around you to spot either or Zayne or Caleb nearby. "Where did they go, I could've sworn I heard their bickering nearby," you muttered to yourself, still scanning your surroundings to look for the two boys. It took a while, but you could see their silhouettes not too far from where you stood. While waving your arms you shouted: "Caleb! Zayne!"

It did not take long for the two to stop their mini snowball war to realize it was you who was calling them. Settling on a truce, the two boys walked towards you. "Hey, be careful climbing down!" Caleb yelled, walking a little faster than Zayne to get to you first.

"Don't worry too much, I got this!" You yelled back as you slowly made your descend down the pile of snow. But, as you climbed down it's sturdy surface, you did not expect to have your ankle twist against a bump of snow and fall onto your back and roll downwards, landing with a loud thud on the ground.

The pain was excruciating, not just from the sudden twist of your ankle but from the growing ache you felt landing on your back. You could feel tears start to sting your eyes from the pain of falling down and from embarrassment of having Zayne and Caleb see you fall from a short distance and still manage to hurt yourself in the process.

The aftermath of the fall did not register as all you could feel were a pair of warm hands gently soothing your back and another wiping out your tears as you sob uncontrollably. Not long after what felt like an eternity, a pair of hands scooped you up from the floor and carried you.

"It's alright," the voice said, hushing away your sobs. "I'm sorry, I won't leave you alone next time, I promise". Everything that happened in-between was a blur afterwards. It then became a habit that after every fall of Snow, instead of holding snowball fights, the boys would work with you to build snow angels, even snowmen. You couldn't remember a day during the season of winter where they left your side.

"I will always be here for you, no matter what".

But, you never brought it upon yourself to ask which one of them told you that. Leaving it as another distant memory in the void.

♡。·˚˚· ·˚˚·。♡

You were awoken by a loud ringtone to your right. Groaning and grumbling, you allow yourself to slowly come back to reality and turn to your right to see which one of your emergency contacts would grace you with their presence for today. With one eye open, you reach out for your phone and open it to read a message, rather, a line of messages from your favorite healthcare provider: Zayne. Even as a child, Zayne has never stopped looking after you even if distance separated you for quite some time.

7-Days Of Recovery With You 🍧🌸

After reading all the texts Zayne has left on your phone, your eyes widen in shock as you realize you've been sleeping for a whole day. The wounds from the recent battle with the Wanderers have not yet fully healed, still you are thankful the association gave you time to recuperate. More so, since you have your very own on-the-call doctor Zayne as your miracle healthcare provider. However, your peace had been cut-short with loud tapping on your windows. Quickly turning to your right and snatching your gun from the table near you, you turned your attention towards your tapping intruder only to discover it was none other than Mephisto.

Of course, the universe definitely has strange ways of granting you peace and quiet and for some reason, having all your five emergency contacts just fits the universe's standards on "rest and relaxation protocol".

"To what do I owe the honor of your visit?" You start off sarcastically, knowing with Mephisto on the clock-watch means Sylus' ever watchful gaze is on you too. Tucking away your gun under your pillow, you muster up all the strength to push yourself upwards until your back was fully lying on the board attached to the bed. "Just checking on my little miss. Doing any better, Kitten?" Sylus' voice greets you from outside the window.

"Still bound to the bed as you can see. Is there anything the might leader of Onichinus needs of me?"

"None as of the moment. But, I do have something for you. It should be on its way. Luke and Kieran should be there soon enough." With that, Mephisto caws and flaps its wings while perched on the small window sill, slowly preparing to fly off who-knows-where. But with Mephisto flying nearby could also mean Sylus is within the vicinity.

Still deep in thought about Sylus' words, a gentle knock breaks you out of your trance. Without a second thought, you knew who it was at your door: Zayne. Not sparing a second longer, the door could be heard opening with a light creak and sets of keys clanging against each other.

A tall shadow could be seen from beyond the door frame and you could confirm that it was definitely Zayne. With a gentle tap on your doorframe, Zayne greeted you with his oh-so-ever icy gaze. "I knew you haven't gotten out of bed. I'm assuming you haven't eating anything as well?"

"Well, you aren't wrong. What's the diagnosis doc?" You joked, trying to lighten the mood, knowing deep down that like Caleb, Zayne would also give you an earful amount of reprimanding about lack of self-care. "Without a doubt, it's definitely a rare condition, one I have not seen in a long time."

"What is it?"

"Laziness." As he walks towards you and flicks your forehead, making you wince at the sudden contact of his fingers against your forehead. "It's not my fault! My body hurts from head-to-toe." You argued, gripping the sheets tightly in your hands, feeling yourself huff and pout at his response.

"You know better than to go off a full day without eating a meal. What would your doctor have to say when he find out you haven't been taking care of yourself?" Zayne presses on, pulling out a nearby chair and dragging it closer to the bed, his icy gaze holding more than just one emotion directed towards you, emotions you fully couldn't figure out just yet. "The point of bedrest is to recuperate and regain what you have lost. Would it not make sense to take care of yourself too?" He asks, slowly lifting your chin, putting enough force onto you to have you meet him eye-to-eye.

Zayne had always had a presence that commands, that always calls onto you every time he is near. You've always thought that maybe Zayne just has this "magnetic personality" that pulls at you like a puppet and puppeteer, forever connected and attached to one another. Even as adults, Zayne still had this bit of control over you. A connection, you could not comprehend yet continue to allow and exist.

What felt like a long stand-off with nothing but silence between the both of you, you felt the pressure from your chin grow weak and slowly, Zayne pulled away. "I've brought you the basics for a good meal. I know the way around the kitchen. I want you to just rest". As Zayne begins to take a step back, the lights suddenly flicker for a brief moment before it makes a spark and goes out.

Zayne did not think twice, and began to work his way out of the room to check the apartment's breakers including the other lights and appliances within the other rooms. "It's a full blackout," Zayne states, opening your bedroom window to check the other apartments as well for any sign of light but, unfortunately you and other apartments are pretty much in the same situation.

"It might take a while before the power comes back on," you mutter underneath your breathe and releasing a deep sigh off your chest. "We might as well, open the windows to let some air inside the rooms."

"I'll work to it and then let's figure out how to kill the time". Grabbing his phone from the pocket and once again turning on the phone's torch mode to navigate through the dark path that would lead him towards the apartment's living room.

♡。·˚˚· ·˚˚·。♡

It did not take long for you and Zayne to find comfort in the darkness while sitting on your bed, as you both decided the best way to kill the time was to watch through videos to help lighten up the atmosphere. "You know, I really do miss this. When we were kids you'd always nag us about watching shows on the television in the dark. Come to think of it, you were such a mom at that point".

"Well, the nagging had you and Caleb glasses-free for quite a long time. Didn't it?" Zayne comments, playfully nudging your side with his elbow. You couldn't help but let out a small laugh and a smile, recalling all those moments when you, Caleb, Zayne didn't have to bear the burden and struggles the world has to off to the three of you. Back then, life was simple and easy.

You were both half-way through a video when you heard a creaking sound from outside of the bedroom. It might just be your senses acting up, but you could have sworn you've been hearing repetitive creaking sounds from different places in the apartment for the past minute as if there was someone else just outside the room.

Not wanting to freak out, you tuck the thought behind you and continue to leisurely watch with Zayne. While watching the video with your head slowly leaning onto his shoulder and your eyelids feeling heavier by the second, you couldn't help but think about all the times when you were kids with Zayne. Looking at him now and comparing him from who he was before, you've come to realize that nothing had ever change. Zayne was always constant, before and now.

"You know, I put you as my emergency contact for a reason." You stated, suddenly feeling the sleepiness roll away from your body as you talked with Zayne. "You've always been one of the things in my life that has always been constant".

"How do you define constant?" He asks, slightly lowering the phones volume to get a better hearing of you as you speak. "You've always been here. Never-changing, constant."

"Even as kids, you'd always be there. Just waiting and watching, not too far from me. When I get hurt, you'd also be there to take care of me too." You continued, a small smile gracing your lips as you recall all the times Zayne had come to the rescue, no matter how miniscule the problem may have been because out of the many things in this world, Zayne had always been constant with you.

You could feel Zayne's heavy gaze on you as you lift your head to meet him eye-to-eye, wanting him to feel the sincerity of your words because even if you have time to spare, no amount of time would be enough to compensate with the amount of gratitude you feel towards Zayne and all that he has done for you.

"I don't say it often enough but I-," You were cut off when you and Zayne heard the unmistakable loud thud of a heavy bag being dropped onto the floor. Both being on high alert, you both wasted no time and carefully crawled out of bed, making sure no creaking sound would escape from the mattress and board. Glancing over at Zayne, you put your fingers towards your lips and point towards the room outside of the bedroom.

"I assumed with the amount you pay, this place would be a guaranteed safe haven".

"Nothing's ever guaranteed as a safe haven, you and I both know that." You whispered back at Zayne, quickly grabbing the gun tucked underneath your pillow and moving slowly across the floor in careful and calculated movements. Zayne on the other hand begins to prepare to use his evol to launch it towards our very uninvited guests.

"Did you invite the glowing neighbor over?"

"No, he's out of town. Second, even if he glows, he doesn't do it on purpose. Xavier doesn't work as a part-time bulb."

"Maybe he should reconsider his life occupations." Zayne responds, shooting a glare over to you as you quietly open the drawer beside your bed and grab a few extra bullets.

"Why are we even having this conversation in the first place?" You hissed, trying to manage to lower your voice as you load your gun with extra bullets.

"Because you wouldn't have gotten hurt if he did his job a little better." Zayne pointed out, hinting to a more complex reason underneath his steady and firm tone. You couldn't help but scrunch your brows together in confusion, baffled with the sudden confession coming from Zayne.

"Well, it isn't his job to protect me. I'm not a child". You could feel your voice escalating from a whisper to a much more audible volume. "You of all people should know that this is how my job goes. Being hurt is part of the job description."

"Being reckless isn't part of the job description either yet you constantly put yourself in harm's way."

"You have little to no faith in me, I know what I get myself into every single day. Why would you even care about what I have to do? I'm fighting to stay alive, to protect people."

"Then fight to protect yourself too," Zayne responds back, bringing back his cool and calm demeanor as he stares at you with what seems like longing and fear mixed together. "Because, I care for you more than you could ever know".

You were out of words, staring at the man to your left, wondering what to respond with his confession. Because, I care for you more than you could ever know, the words constantly ringing through your head. Before you could even let out a response, a nearby thud could be heard, slowly coming in closer towards the bedroom. Pushing away your thoughts and getting into your stance, you quickly shot up from your position, ignoring the growing ache of your muscles being forced to work to support your position, and fired a warning shot at the intruders.

"Arms up! Move and I'll shoot." You threatened, slowly moving out of the bedroom and towards the living room, keeping your stance still despite the aches crawling up from your legs to your upper body.

"Wait, Miss! It's us!" Two voices said in unison, with familiarity finally registering in your head, you slowly lowered your gun. However, before you could call out for them, Zayne stepped out of the room and bound the two intruders by their arms and legs in ice.

"Wait, Zayne. It's okay. It's just Luke and Kieran," you said quickly, putting your hands on Zayne's chest to put some distance between him and the twins, who were now uncomfortably trapped to the floor, rolling back and forth in attempt to break free from their ice shackles.

"I don't even want to hear your excuse, but I do hope you're not the reason behind the entire building going into a blackout." You start as you stare at the twins, crossing your arms across your chest. "We promise not, miss! We just came to deliver a gift from Mr. Sylus!" Luke explained, trying to ease away your growing anger with the peace offering A.K.A, the gift Sylus mentioned a while back.

"Why didn't you bother to call? You both have my numbers on your phones. What's the point of exchanging numbers in the first place if you're just going to barge into my home?"

"We promise it won't happen again miss! We just wanted to surprise you!" Kieran added.

"Well pretending to be home intruders isn't a pleasant surprise at all, do you even know what time it is?"

"Dinner time?" Luke responded with hopeful eyes, pleading for you to release them from their bounded shackles.

"No," you responded, pinching the bridge of your nose in hopes it would give you a quick relief from this sudden headache. Zayne, on the other hand, did not have to be told twice and partially dissolved the ice shackles from the twins. "And even if it was, how do you think we'd even cook at a time like this?"

"I'll see what I can do with what we have," Zayne quickly responds, grabbing his phone from his pocket and heading towards the kitchen with the torch button left turned on to make navigation of the still-dark environment manageable for Zayne.

Pushing aside your most recent argument at the back of your head, you let out a heavy sigh and look over to the twins. "I'll thank Sylus later. For now, just sit still and don't do anything. No more barging in next time, I'm taking away your key privileges from now on".

"But," the twins started, initially hoping you'd let them go after their 25th time in a row of breaking and entering your apartment. "Absolutely no, now hand over the spare keys."

♡。·˚˚· ·˚˚·。♡

With Zayne's talent, he was able to make cold but delicious sandwiches for you and the twins' consumption. As Zayne began to throw out used wrappers and other contents into the bin, you slowly approached him and gave a light poke to his waist causing Zayne to flinch and turn his attention towards you with one brow raised in curiosity.

"Thanks for dinner," you say quickly, swinging on the balls of your feet in a gentle back and forth motion. "And for everything". You continue, your voice almost coming off as a whisper, shyly averting your gaze from Zayne and focusing it towards the twins.

Without a second thought for hesitation, Zayne reached out and cupped your cheek while the other brushed away strands of hair from your face. With the moon's light shining upon you, no words could describe the beauty you held, even now with just the light of the sky highlighting your features.

"You are the very thing I care for, don't put yourself in harm's way because not every risk is worth the loss".

Moving himself backwards, away from you, he grabs his phone from the table and gives you a small smile before heading towards the direction of the bedroom. You were left stunned and at awe with Zayne's confession, not knowing what else to do. One can only hope that regardless of these new changes, what you and Zayne have will forever remain as constant as the stars above you.

𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐄𝐗𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄

𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐄𝐗𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄

- sylus x reader

you and your lover are hailed and feared, but who would have guessed that behind closed doors, both of you are just that — lovers?

genre/warnings: very suggestive, making out, fluff, comfort, period cramps, assassin!reader (not l&ds mc), loosely based on sylus' secret times: midnight warmth & exclusive care!

note: very self-indulgent bye pls don't look at me :') this fic is a companion to assassin!reader series (strictly (un)professional and jealousy incarnate)

𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐄𝐗𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄

“Who’s ther— lord! Missus! What happened to you!?”

On a rainy night, you staggered into the base, drenched and covered with dirt. Your steps were unsteady as you made your way through the front door, and the first person to see you, Luke, was so shocked by the sight that he rushed to your side.

“Kieran! Call Boss!” he shouted to his twin, who immediately sprinted off to find him, steadying you. “Are you injured?”

“No,” you hissed, wincing as you clutched your abdomen. “Let go, I’m fine—” But before you could finish, you missed a step and—

—fell into Luke's arms.

In that very instant, Luke genuinely feared for his life. He squeaked and stammered, incoherent sounds escaping him, because oh lord— if Boss sees me ever touching his woman—

“What are you doing?”

And there came his nightmare. Sylus’ deep voice cut through like a blade, marking the arrival of doomsday itself.

“B-Boss! It isn’t what it looks like!” Luke quivered, desperately trying to explain himself.

However, Sylus paid him no mind and exhaled sharply, immediately moving over to pull you out of Luke’s grasp. “Are you hurt?”

“I’m fine!” you insisted, pulling away from him while staggering. “I’m not wounded or anything. Just... I just need a bath, please.”

Sylus eyed you from top to bottom. You had just been out for a reconnaissance, and yet you looked as though you had been through a tornado and back. Disheveled, your dress was smeared with mud and dirt, and even grime clung to your hair.

“Did you fall into a sewer or something?” he questioned, and he knew he had hit a nerve when you shot him a glare.

But you spared him no answer, walking away with labored breaths and a hand pressed against your lower belly. It was clear you were in pain, and the sight tugged at him as he followed you.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, his concern growing. “What hurts?”

“You don’t have to fuss over me—” your breath hitched, feeling exhausted, and ashamed all at once. “Just my period, nothing much,” you murmured in a quieter voice so the twins wouldn’t hear.

As you reached the stairs to the second floor, you felt like collapsing. Did you really have to climb these stairs, too?

As if reading your mind, Sylus let out a sigh, but you nearly squealed when he lifted you into his arms.

“You’ll get dirty!” you rebuked, even as he took large strides up the stairs. “Sylus!”

“Just hold onto me.” He shot you a pointed look. “You can’t even walk without gasping for air, and you still want to climb the stairs? You’ll end up rolling and breaking your back.”

Despite your protests, your lover immediately brought you to his bathroom and sat you down on the sink. He turned the hot water on and then faced you.

“So? What did you get yourself into?” he asked, his red eyes narrowing in dissatisfaction. “You were fine, and you didn’t face anyone.”

You pressed your eyes shut, leaning against the wall, resigned to explain. “Fell into mud. Totally idiotic, I know, but my cramps started right before, so…”

“I don’t recall you experiencing this before. What brought this on?”

You met his gaze indignantly, retorting, “Well, a certain someone banged me so hard last night, and I got my period right after.”

It was quite unexpected, but still answered his concern. So, to that, Sylus snorted and tousled your hair, a playful twinkle in his eyes. “Ah, sorry, I guess?”

You pursed your lips, aware of how unapologetic he was. He smirked and added, “Now that I’m dirty too... I suppose we’ll have to take a bath together.”

“Are you mad? Do you want to get covered in my blood?”

He shrugged nonchalantly. “Why not—”

“No,” you retorted firmly, clearly irked. “You take the bath after me, and that’s final.”

. . .

“Put your arm around my neck,” Sylus commanded when you both emerged from the bath and already dressed in silk bathrobes. You complied, and he swiftly lifted you into a princess carry, bringing you to the bed.

Despite yourself, your heart fluttered at his action. He set you down gently, and the moment your back met the soft surface, you relished it and let out an involuntary moan. “Ahh...”

Your voice was soft and sultry, though tinged with a hint of pain. Sylus placed his hand gently on your face. “Your cheeks are warm,” he noted. “And you still look pale.”

"Mmm," you mumbled, suddenly the total fatigue catching up to you as you leaned into his touch. Seeing you so pliant like this seemed to flip a switch inside him, and he immediately settled next to you and placed his huge hand on your lower belly, pressing down on it.

“What are you doing?” you frowned.

“I’m giving you a massage,” he replied. “Stop squirming. I’m trying to pamper you here.”

“You don’t have to…”

“My woman is in enough pain that she doesn’t talk back to me. It’s feels off.”

“...actually, you suck. You’re too rough.”

Taking your whine into account, he adjusted his touch, softening his pressure. "How is it? Better?"

You didn’t immediately reply, indulging in the warm sensation, letting out a sigh as you squeezed your eyes shut. “Mm... Yeah, it feels good now. Don’t stop…”

There was something quietly erotic about watching you, usually so defiant, surrender to his touch like this. Sylus felt a deep, protective satisfaction as he continued his gentle ministrations—

But after a while...

Before he could stop himself, he leaned in, pulling you closer as he buried his face in your shoulder, inhaling deeply, savoring the scent of the bath foam you had just shared. “Mmm…”

You were caught off-guard and shivered at his breath tickling your skin, eyes fluttering open. “Sylus…” you murmured, a mix of protest and surprise in your voice.

But he didn’t pull away, his lips lingering against your skin, his gaze fixed on your bare neck, whispering, “Just relax. I’ve got you.”

Then, when he suddenly nibbled on your neck, you jolted awake. The gentle bite on your sensitive skin sent another shiver down your spine, stirring a mix of warmth that made your pulse race.

But he didn't stop there, as Sylus trailed your neck with a series of kisses and wet sucks, his breath hot against your skin. Soon, the only sounds filling the room were his quiet sighs and the soft noises of his lips as he continued to bite and pepper kisses on your skin, over and over.

“Ngh…” Each touch left you almost breathless, and the heat between you growing with every passing moment, making your toes curl and you moan softly by his ear.

“Hold me,” he gruffly whispered, and as if bewitched, you clung to his shoulders. He let out a husky chuckle. “Not too hard, or you won't be able to sleep later.”

“And whose fault would that be?” you quipped, entangling your legs with his, savoring the warmth of his body against yours.

“I’ve spoiled you rotten, haven’t I... sweetie?” he murmured amidst kisses, his tone laced with intrigue and his burgundy eyes flashing with a glint. “Just let me have my fill for a while.”

If you had a mirror, you’d see the hickeys forming on your neck, but instead of fighting him, you pulled him closer, letting out breathy moans freely and massaging his scalp as if urging him to go further.

“Naughty vixen—you are,” Sylus rasped deliciously in your ear, thick with desire and restraint as his grip on you tightened. “Tempting me, knowing full well I can’t do anything to you…”

A low giggle slipped from your lips. “Unfortunately… I learn from the best.”

Hard to get, snarky, taunting... You were the bane of his existence, and yet Sylus wouldn't have it another way. Your defiance and teasing only deepened his affection, making every challenge you presented feel like an irresistible part of what drew him to you.

He knew when his patience was on the verge of snapping, so to end it, he sucked hard on your shoulder one last time, making sure to leave another mark there. The squelching sound reverberated through both of you, before he pulled away and planted a firm kiss on your forehead, a gesture of both dominance and fondness for you.

“Now sleep,” he grounded out. “Your body has been through enough.”

“Mngh...” you whined, curling into him in contentment, your head nestled against his toned chest where you could feel his strong, steady heartbeat. “Really unfair...”

“You're going to feel better soon...” he sighed, one hand soothing your back and the other resting on your waist. “And as soon as you do...”

A wicked grin curved his lips.

“I'll pick up where I left off.”
