Loved this!
Not gonna lie, I'm in love with Chandler since the first time I watched FRIENDS and it's so sad that out there doesn't seem to exist many fanfics about him.
So, every single fanfic I find is like a gem and this one is one of the best ones that I have read. Loved your writing. Absolutely amazing! đ„°

Waking up feeling refreshed was rare for Chandler Bing. Usually, he awoke to the sound of Joeyâs snoring in the next room or his alarm clock ringing for work, rubbing his hardly-awake aching eyes and forcing a shirt over his frame to start his day.
Today was much different. Sure, it was a Sunday with no work, but he woke up feeling as happy as ever, a permanent smile upon his face and his heart feeling full while butterflies continue to invade his stomach. Still to dissipate after last night.
Y/n was the cause of this. One of his best friends, part of the group he considers family more-so than the parents he grew up with. One of his favourite people in his life and someone he was falling in love with, greatly.
It was only a few days before that Chandler braved himself enough to tell her, tell her how infatuated he was that it was almost scary to him. He had never felt like this with another person before. And last night Chandler had took her on a date, since she was quick to reply with her returned feelings, to Chandlerâs shock.
Chandler remembers how tightly Y/n held his hand despite how clammy his palm mustâve been, or the light-hearted giggles whenever he pulled his collar from how tight it felt while stuttering over another sentence. Or how she smiled against his lips when he kissed her goodnight by her front door.
They were crossing a line, from friendship into something more, and while it was what Chandler wanted, he was still horrendously nervous when it came to it. He didnât want to mess anything up between both of them and then affect the group.
But the feeling of Y/nâs lips against his proven far too addictive that Chandler was extra willing to try, desperate to feel her kiss again and form what they had into a special bond he hoped would last.
He didnât have a great track record when it came to relationships, breaking up with each women whenever he got too scared of the commitment, and using any little flaw they had as the reason for bailing. Y/n was different, Chandler already knew her completely. Every flaw and indifference in her life, every quirk and hyper fixation. Each only made Chandler fall in love with her more.
And Chandler knew he would never treat Y/n like he has his previous girlfriends. God forbid he would ever be stupid enough to mess things up with her when sheâs the best thing in his life. She makes him feel seen, laughs at all his jokes, helped him quit smoking and makes him never want to go back, loves all the movies he does, and cuddles with him, squished on the one chair after sheâs had her heart broken.
No matter how bad Chandler was at comforting someone, unable to find the right words to help support, Y/n always went to him. Out of her six friends, it was always Chandler she went to for comfort. And he never understood it until now, how they were everything to one another.
Glancing at his alarm, Chandlerâs eyes nearly pop when realising itâs reaching midday. He was usually an early bird, waking up before everyone else to get ready and start his working day and with the routine it meant most weekends he was still up early.
At least earlier than Joey.
Sure, he walked Y/n home last night just after midnight and then went a long walk himself before returning home, but waking up at midday was a stretch for Chandler. So, heâs quick to get out of bed and change.
Joey wasnât even home, most likely at Monica and Rachelâs apartment having a late breakfast while Ross reads the newspaper and Phoebe chats in his ear, all likely to wonder why Chandlerâs still to appear.
He pairs his beige trousers with a shirt and stripey sweater. Spending an extra few minutes on brushing his teeth and making sure his hair looked perfect in case Y/n dropped by Monicaâs at any point. The smile on his face yet to falter.
The group turn to the front door when it slams, Monica refilling the coffee pot while Ross, Rachel, and Joey sit by the kitchen table with aimless chatter. Phoebe rustles with a card packet on the sofa.
They all observe as Chandler walks in with a slight spring in his step, one hand stuffed in his pocket with a grin upon his face while he speaks, âmorning!â They all glance at each other, no joke or sarcastic tone as of yet, an unusual happiness radiating off him that they only guessed came from the date last night.
âLook whoâs finally up,â Ross says, taking the last sip of his coffee mug and shaking his newspaper when it flops over. Joey nudges him before looking back to his friend, eyebrows wagging, âwell, you did get back late last night.â
Chandler pulls a face at him, shaking his head disapprovingly before walking over to the counter by the door, pushing the key dish away before sitting atop it, facing them all as he speaks, ânothing like that happened.â
âYouâre smile says otherwise,â Monica teases, from beside the kitchen window. Chandler looks to her before he falters to speak, unsure with where to start, âI just- Y/n was great, it wasââ he splutters over himself.
âGood night?â Rachel asks. âGood night? It was the best night.â Chandler finally finds the words to express, taking it further as he thinks back to the best first date of his life, âsheâs so great. We had dinner and she gave me her mushrooms because she knows I like them. We talked the entire night, right up until the restaurant was closing and we had be told to leave.â
They are all fond of the change in Chandler, it was unusual to see him so happy and upbeat, lacking in his sarcastic comments which could be tiring within each response. He lets out a chuckle as he thinks back to the night, the waiter coming over and pulling them out of their reverie for them to see they were the only customers left.
Y/n fought to split half the bill with him, leaning over to pry his credit card away from his hand while he uses his free one to usher hers away. Both of them laughing fondly while the waiter keeps a straight face, unamused by their antics and snatching the card from Chandler before they made their way out.
âI walked her home, and we ended up spending more time at her front door, just talking â I never knew two people could find so much to talk about â and then I kissed her goodnight,â a blush arises on Chandlerâs cheek as he admits he kissed her and they all let out little âwooâs in response, Joey leaning back in his chair to pat his friendâs knee.
âWell, Y/n sounded just as excited on the phone.â Chandlerâs expression dropped into shock, Monica turning back to the table to pour more coffee into each friends mugs, âwant a cup, Chandler?â she asks but Chandler is too caught up in her previous comment.
âS-she called here?â asks Chandler, Monicaâs eyes fleeting to the side, coffee pot frozen in her hand as she airily chuckles, confused, âyeah, she phones every morning, why?â. Chandler runs his hands over the top of his hair, right through the strands he perfected because even though he made sure they were perfect for Y/n to see, he didnât process that heâll have to see her the day after their date.
Chandler jumps from his spot to stand in front of her, hands on either of her shoulders, âwhat did she say?â. Monica tuts, the others chuckling at the old-Chandler returning, the awkward and weird version, âshe said you were cute and that you kissed her.â
âThatâs all?â Chandler asks and before he can feel relieved, Monica continues, âapart from that, sheâs headed over.â
Thatâs what he was afraid of hearing. Of course she was coming over, she was just as close a friend to everyone as Chandler was. âOh dear God,â Chandler moves away from his friend and covers his red-beat face with his hands, each of the girls look confused as they watch him go from loved-up and sappy to a nervous wreck in a matter of seconds.
âWhat did I miss?â Rachel asks, while Ross and Joey only smile awkwardly, âitâs the day after their date,â Joey begins but defensively Rachel continues before he can fully explain, âyeah, so?â.
Chandler pulls his hands away before landing on the back of the chair Joeyâs sitting on, looking down at Rachel with a newfound fear in his eyes, âsheâs my friend! my best friend, even! Normally the day after the date you donât see the girl for a few days, especially not the day after.â
âNot unless theyâve slept over if you knowââ before Joey can continue in his flirty manner, Chandler cuts in, âI gotta get outta here.â The girls âpshhâ in disbelief of the way heâs acting, overdramatic and a little bit rude.
Ross tries to level with him as Chandler turns around to leave, âsuck it up, this is Y/n weâre talking about. If youâre the only one not here sheâll think somethingâs wrong.â Chandlerâs still turning towards the door, maybe heâll leave her a message once heâs back in his own apartment and say heâs sorry he missed her today. Maybe heâll wait until sheâs home later and then they can talk over the phone.
However, before the million thoughts can dissipate into one idea, the door is opening in front of him and in Y/n walks. Chandler has a hand over his mouth while his thoughts ran wild, but the moment sheâs in sight, it drops like each worried thought.
She wears a long trench coat and pale coloured scarf to battle the cold New York winter weather, wide-leg trousers with boots peeking out the bottom and Chandler is simply swooning within that moment that he canât think straight anymore.
Heâs kissed this girl. He still canât believe it.
Y/nâs eyes land on Chandler first and she gives him a warm smile before greeting everyone else, who replies lightly but way too focused on watching the pair interact. She unravels her scarf before shrugging off her coat to place on the hooks by the door, if it were any other day Chandler wouldâve helped her, but his feet were glued to the floor.
She looks back to Chandler, entirely delicate and earnest as she walks over. Her hand gently ghosts over his hip while whispering a soft, âhey, Chandler.â Leaning up, she places a kiss to his cheek before moving away from him.
Chandlerâs frozen, hand reaching up so his fingers touch the spot she just kissed before turning to the rest of his friendâs once again. Y/n sat by Phoebe, quietly enquiring the girl of her cards who pulls her curious expression away from Chandler to amuse Y/n instead.
The others watch Chandler from behind Y/nâs spot, Joey nodding encouragingly towards the girl while Monica interjects from leaning against the counter, feeling some tension across the room, âcoffee, Y/n?â.
âCoffee would be great, thank you, Mon,â Y/n speaks up in her oh-so-sweet voice that makes Chandler think he could melt into a puddle of sappiness and pure love. Compared to the chattiness from them both last night to the quiet on this noon, Chandler knows itâs only because he has to get used to it.
Y/n and him.
Not that he didnât want that, he had been thinking about Y/n and him for God-knows how long, Chandler had never wanted a relationship as badly as he wanted one with Y/n. But they were friends, and he had never dated a friend before, and it was terrifying to him as much as he loved the idea.
What are they right now? Still just friends? Friends that date? or just dating but happen to be best friends?
It seems anytime Y/n makes eye contact with him that his worrying stops seize so he can focus on how amazing she is. Since his second wave of worries fall the moment she turns to look at him again, that kind smile addicting.
Joey stands from his spot, the lovesick gazes from one another tiring since he knows Chandler is a wimp to do anything about it. He stands behind Chandler, a hand on either of his shoulders before pushing his friend towards the couch, ushering him while the others silently gesture to Y/n so Chandler can make a move.
He clears his throat awkwardly, the sweater added with the situation making Chandler feel overheated when he looks to them all scared before sitting down beside Y/n. He tries to look casual, leaning back on the seat and his arm leaning against the back of the sofa, the space behind Y/n.
Y/n continues to look up at him, his awkward stance somehow not scaring her away as Chandler would expect. Instead, she moves slightly from Phoebeâs side and into Chandlerâs, thigh brushing his and her shoulder tucking under his underarm.
There go the butterflies over Chandlerâs stomach again at the feeling of Y/n so close to him.
Finally finding the words to speak, Chandler clears his throat again before asking, âhey, uh- did you, uh- sleep well last night?. The gang roll their eyes from behind Y/nâs head at the question, Phoebe looking at Chandler in sympathy before standing from her spot to leave them alone on the sofa.
Before Chandler can curse himself for sounding weird, Y/nâs giggling at how nervous he seems, finding his attitude so cute and so very Chandler. âI slept great, thank you,â her eyes never fail to pull from his, addicting, as her giggle lowers, âdid you get home okay?â.
God, sheâs so pretty. Chandler thinks before mustering up an answer.
He scratches the tiny stubble upon his jaw, a quirk Y/n had took notice of him doing when heâs nervous and awkward, âyeah, fine, fine,â Chandler replies and his eyes crinkle when he smiles so sweetly, Y/nâs expression matching, âgood.â
They can feel their friends eyes on them, so intense that Y/n canât help but giggle again as she breaks the ice by holding her hand to his jaw gently before quickly leaning in to peck his lips. Itâs small and finishes as quick as it happens, Chandler trying to lean towards her after she pulls away.
His mouth agapes, eyes wide and surprised that Y/n was that bold to do it in front of the gang, but more than happy she did. Y/nâs hand then trails from his jaw to the shoulder of his arm rested behind her, fingers poking the sweater material endearingly while Chandler watches.
âYouâre awfully tense. Are you okay?â Y/n asks and Chandler is practically swooning at her feet from the affection sheâs delivering him, her hand flat and rubbing his arm so lovingly that he wants to bury his head against her neck and keep her as close as he possibly can.
His cheeks are red and mind feels hazy and light, the worries from earlier long gone and feeling less awkward from the moment her lips pecked his, the muscles beneath her touch relaxing. âYeah, yâknow, just went home and lifted some weights last night,â Chandlerâs smile grows when Y/n laughs at his sarcasm.
That was the Chandler she knew, and the Chandler she was gravely in love with.
âIs that your post-date routine?â Y/n asks and Chandler outwardly laughs while leaning further into her touch, his friends watching him fall back into the sappy nature he was at first. âNah, my post-date routine consists of a pit of worrying if I did something wrong and thinking of how pretty you looked in that dress while Joeyâs snores keep me up.â
With that Y/n giggles even more, face close to his when she replies, âwell, you better get used to that.â Chandlerâs nose nudges Y/nâs before he tilts to the side, âmore than happy to,â he says under his breath before their lips connect in a longer, more tender kiss than before.
âAlright, alright, get a room, you guys,â they pull away at the sound of Joeyâs voice while Monica and Rachel lean over to smack his arm. Chandler looking up while Y/n digs her head into his neck, Chandler forgetting how awkward he was before as he only pulls her comfortingly into his side.
He will definitely get used to this.

Summary: After a wild night out at The Hideout, Eddie Munson wakes up in bed with some unexpected company and no memory of what happened.
Rating: General Auidences
Author Note: Gender neutral reader, no pronouns used.
CW: Recreational alcohol and marijuana use; tobacco use; heavily implied sex (no details); could be seen as dubcon due to the use of mild altering substances, but I tried my best to address it in the story that this is something they all wouldn't done sober, too.

Waking up after a hard night of drinking was always strange and unpleasant. In all honesty, that was why Eddie Munson preferred weed. Sure, getting drunk could be fun with the right people, but the next day was always a little slice of hell on earth.
Today was no exception. Rather than gently lifting up into consciousness as he woke up naturally, he was instead woken up by a severe pounding in his head.
Eddie opened his eyes briefly and groaned in pain before closing them again. The open curtains allowed the late morning sun to illuminate the room. The bright light sent bolts of pain through each of his eyeballs, making the headache worse. It was a steady pounding feeling, as if someone were in his head playing a drum solo.
Rolling onto his back, Eddie brought his ring clad hands up to his face to rub his eyes for a bit before attempting to open them again. While it still hurt, at least he expected the room to be so bright this time. Still though, it made his stomach turn a bit and his head throb even more. He knew if he tried to get up right now that his stomach wouldnât be feeling too good either. Eddie decided his normal hangover cure was in order.
Shutting his eyes again, he rolled over towards the center of his bed, fully intending to go back to sleep. He threw his arm out to stretch across the empty space next to him.
Instead of stretching out like he intended though, his arm landed on something that cause it do bend at an awkward angle, as if draped over something. Eddie cracked his eyes open again and lifted his head slightly. It took him a moment to process it, but he eventually realized there was someone else laying under the blankets with him, still sleeping peacefully.
While bringing someone home with him from The Hideout wasnât a completely uncommon occurrence, it didnât happen very often. And, when it did, he was always sober enough to remember it once he woke up in the next day. Right now, though, Eddie couldnât even remember how he got home from the bar last night, much less remember bringing someone home with him.
Though Eddieâs head was still pounding, the idea of sleep was forgotten. He started wracking his brain, trying to piece together the previous night.
Corroded Coffin had a Saturday night gig at The Hideout. That much he remembered. It ended up being a fantastic show. All of their friends came out for it, and they drew in a fairly large crowd since they were playing on the weekend. Granted, the bar was still under half capacity, but it was one of their largest crowds to date and that was something to celebrate. And, after the show, thatâs exactly what everyone had done.
Eddie remembered Steve buying a round of drinks after the performance. He remembered you and him sneaking off to a stall in the menâs room to share a joint. He remembered Gareth ordering a round of shots when the two of you got back. Then Robin ordered a round of drinks after that. And then Jeff ordered another round of shots after that. At some point, he vaguely remembered tequila getting involved. But, after that, there was nothing until just a little bit ago when he woke up.
After thinking on it for a while, he gave up on trying to remember, figuring that would come back later. But Eddie was curious now. He reached over to gently pull the blanket down a bit to see who it was he ended up taking home with him.
Eddie froze, still holding the blanket.
You. You were lying next to him in bed.
Eddieâs mind whirled, his heart pounding as loudly as his head by this point.
Youâd never been in bed with him before, even just to sleep. There were only a few times youâd ever stayed over, only on nights when you couldnât drive home or the weather was bad, but he always slept on the couch those nights so you could have the bed to yourself. There had to be a logical explanation for this.
Out of curiosity, he lifted the edge of the blanket and looked down.
Eddieâs heart stopped.
You both were completely naked.
He stared down at your bodies as he tried to comprehend what he was seeing.
You were laying with your arms folded against your chest and half on your stomach, which blocked your private areas from his view. All he could really see the full length of your bare leg all the way up past the curve of your ass to your hip.
Your hip that currently had a hand on it, which was neither his nor yours.
Eddie sat up hurriedly. It was quite a shock realizing there was a third person in bed with you two, but that was nothing in comparison to the shock of seeing who exactly it was.
Curled up on your other side was none other than Steve Harrington.
Once again, it took a moment for Eddie to comprehend what he was seeing.
The section of blanket on Steveâs side had slid down some, revealing that he was shirtless. Though, another peek under the blankets revealed that he was just as naked as you and Eddie were.
Fully in shock now, Eddie slowly laid back down. He stared at the ceiling, wracking his brain again in a desperate attempt to remember the night before.
The fog of alcohol and the headache from the hangover blocked off his memory still, so he gave up again and debated on what he should do next.
He supposed he could just leave and come back later after the both of you had left, but that would only delay the inevitable. You two would still be waking up naked in his bed even if he wasnât there to see it. Eventually, this would need to be addressed if you all wanted any sort of friendship after this. It was going to be awkward when the two of you woke up. That much he knew for sure.
Now in desperate need in of a smoke, Eddie carefully slipped out of bed, trying not to wake either of you. He found a pair of sweatpants among his laundry scattered about on the floor. As he pulled them on, he noticed your clothes and Steveâs flung haphazardly around the room, along with the clothes he had been wearing last night. He swallowed heavily, quietly heading from the bedroom.
As he made a pit stop in the bathroom, Eddie was still trying to figure out how you all ended up in bed together. He knew what it looked like. He was well aware of what it looked like. But it couldnât possibly have been that. No way. Heâd never been drunk or high enough to act on his attraction to either of you. The only thing he could think of was that all you all started feeling hot from the alcohol, stripped down to cool off and just fell asleep. That had to be it.
But then as he went to leave the bathroom, he glanced in the mirror and did a double take. Scattered along his upper chest, neck and shoulders were hickies and bite marks of various sizes and shades.
Stunned, he stared at himself for a moment. He turned slowly then turned to get a good look at the rest of his body. While there wasnât any more hickies that he could see, streaked down his back were several dark pink welts that were clearly nail marks. In addition to that, just above his shoulder blades were a few crescent shaped bruises, like someone had dug their nails into his back while holding onto him.
Eddieâs jaw dropped. He met his own gaze in the mirror.
âWhat the fuck did you do?â he said softly to his reflection.
In the living room, Eddie found evidence that you three had hung out here for a while before migrating to his bed. A few empty beer bottles littered the coffee table and a half-smoked joint sat in the ashtray. Eddie slipped on his jacket and sneakers before grabbing the joint on the way to the front door.
This morning called for something stronger than a cigarette now.
Trying to stay quiet, he left the front door partially open and gently closed the screen door. The sun was even brighter now that he was outside, which immediately got in Eddieâs eyes and made him wince. His head was throbbing even more now that he was up, which, as predicted, was starting to make his stomach queasy. He lit the joint first, hoping to calm his nerves as well as the effects of the hangover. Once that was gone, he fished his cigarettes out of his pocket and began chain smoking.
Not too long after Eddie started on his first cigarette, a very groggy, and very hungover, Steve sat up in bed. He rubbed his eyes and squinted as he looked around the room. Confusion sat in as he didnât recognize where he was at first. But then after his gaze landed on a couple of guitars and one heavy metal poster after another, he slowly came to realize he was in Eddieâs bedroom.
This didnât come as a surprise to Steve though. The plan the night before had always been to come back to Eddieâs place at the end of the night. Nancy had picked the three of you up from there since it was her turn to be the designated driver, so you all had left your vehicles there. While he didnât remember coming to bed, he had vague memories of sharing a cab with you and Eddie once the bar had closed, well after Nancy and the others had left. He remembered you three wanted to continue partying and you two decided you were staying the night. Wayne was out of town that weekend for work training, so Eddie was all for having you two over for the night.
As Steve went to swing his legs out of bed, a sudden throbbing in his head made him double over slightly, his elbows resting on his thighs, eyes squeezed closed and slightly watering.
Getting drunk is always a good idea until the next day.
Halfway through his third cigarette, Eddie heard someone stirring in the trailer through the screen door. Whoever it was, be it you or Steve, was trying to be quiet, but the creaky floor wasnât having it.
Eddie wasnât any closer to figuring out what he was going to do. Leaving still seemed like the best idea, but it was too late for that now. The keys to his van were on the kitchen counter.
Fortunately, whoever was it was didnât come outside, giving him some more time to compose himself. He listened to them shuffle across the living room, pick up the phone and dial a number.
Whoever they were trying to call didnât answer because Eddie heard them hang up then try again.
âCâmon, pick up,â a voice muttered from inside.
Eddie couldnât tell who it was until whoever the person they were trying to call finally answered.
âRobin! Finally!â they whisper yelled. âIâm freaking out over here!â
Eddie finally recognized the voice as Steveâs and some of his nerves eased hearing it was Steve, but he still wasnât quite ready to face him just yet. Creeping closer to the door, he listened in on Steveâs side of the conversation.
âYouâve gotta help me out, I donât know what to do!â Pause. âI canât calm down! I just woke up next to Y/N in Eddieâs bed!â Pause. âRobin, we were both naked!â Pause. âNo, Iâm not joking!â Pause. âSeriously, Robin, now is not the time for jokes!â Pause. âI donât know if I had fun, I donât remember anything after leaving The Hideout!â
Knowing that he wasnât the only one in the dark made Eddie feel a little better about the whole thing. But then a thought occurred to him, and all of his nerves came back.
In a way, he hoped you wouldnât remember any it either. There was no telling what your reaction would be to all this. There wasnât any use trying to deny what happened anymore. The three of you had a threesome last night. Or, at the very least, you and Eddie fucked. That much was obviously for certain judging from the way his own chest and back looked. But, then again, it wouldnât make much sense why Harrington would be in the same state as you both unless he was also involved too. At least if none of you remembered what happened, that way you would all be a blank slate and could pretend it didnât happen.
Granted, he didnât know how that would be possible since you all would know it happened, regardless of whether or not any of you remembered it. But, if thatâs what it took to still be friends after all this, he was willing to give it a shot. He didnât want to lose either of you due to some stupid drunken escapade.
Eddie sighed and took the last drag off his cigarette as Steve was finishing his call.
Time to face the music.
He stepped back into the trailer as Steve was hanging up the phone. Steve didnât hear him at first, giving Eddie the chance to get a look at him.
While Steve had pulled on his jeans, he was still shirtless, giving Eddie a good view of his torso. He could see some nail marks down his back, as well as a few hickies on his neck and shoulders.
There was one question answered, at least.
The sound of the screen door closing made Steve finally turn around, revealing more hickies across his chest. A sheepish look came over his face when he saw Eddie.
âUh, hey,â Steve said, running his hand through his hair nervously. âMorning.â
âMorning,â Eddie said, fiddling with his rings nervously.
A brief silence fell over the two men.
âY/Nâs naked,â Steve suddenly blurted out, and then pointed towards Eddieâs bedroom. âIn your bed. Back there.â
Eddie nodded slowly.
âYeah,â Eddie said, swallowing heavily. âYeah, I saw.â
âSo was I,â Steve said, and once again run his hand through his hair. âCompletely naked. Next to Y/N. In your bed.â
Eddie nodded again.
âYeeeah,â he said slowly. âI, uh, was naked, too. With you two. In my bed.â
Steveâs eyes widened and he swallowed heavily. He looked in the direction of the bedroom then back to Eddie.
âDo you think weâŠyou know?â Steve asked, gesturing between the two of them and the bedroom, then gave the air a little thrust of his hips, as if he didnât want to say what he was thinking.
âObviously,â Eddie said, and gestured between the two of them. âLook at us, man. We had a pretty wild night from the looks of it.â
At Eddieâs words, Steve looked down at his chest. His eyes were wide as he slowly looked back up at Eddie.
âWhat the hell should we do?â Steve whisper yelled, looking close to panicking.
âI have no idea!â Eddie whisper yelled back. âI canât say Iâve ever woken up like this before, much less with either of you!â
The two men stared at each other for a moment before Steve sighed.
âMan, this is crazy,â Steve said, which Eddie nodded in agreement with. Then Steve sighed, his arms crossing over his chest. âMaybeâŠwe should see how Y/N feels about it first?â
Eddie brightened.
âGood idea,â he said hurriedly, feeling somewhat relieved the overall outcome wouldnât be on his shoulders. âIf Y/Nâs fine with it, then Iâm fine with it.â
Steve nodded readily in agreement. He opened his mouth to say something else but cut himself off when the sound of the toilet flushing came from the bathroom down the hall.
Both men whipped their heads around at the sound. Neither of them had heard you get up. Soon, they heard the bathroom door open.
Now it really was time to face the music.
Since facing Steve had gone easier than expected, Eddie braced himself for your reaction. He was fully prepared for a meltdown. He expected you to be upset, and even braced himself for tears. He expected some yelling, possibly some screaming. There might even be some accusations, though the possibility of you thinking anything like that made Eddieâs stomach clench. He hoped you would know that he would never take advantage of you while you were drunkâŠbut, then again, could he really say that since he didnât even remember what happened? The very idea alone made his stomach clenched even tighter.
When you came out of the bathroom, you were dressed in your clothes from the night before. You were humming softly, which struck Eddie as strange considering the circumstances. You usually didnât hum all that much, just when you were in an exceedingly good mood. This didnât really strike Eddie as an occasion where you would be in a good mood though.
As you started to turn into the kitchen, you looked up and saw them in the living room.
âMorning fellas,â you said, smiling brightly at them both before ducking into the small kitchen.
They could hear you start to open cabinet doors. Eddie and Steve both looked at each other, deep confusion on their faces. It didnât seem like you were bothered by the state of things at all. Maybe you hadnât put two and two together yet? You woke up alone in bed, so it was possible.
You came back a moment later and stood in the doorway to the living room. A box of cereal was tucked under your arm, and you were eating it dry right out of the box with your free hand.
Aside from the crunch of cereal and the sounds drifting in from the outside, the room was silent. It wasnât exactly a comfortable silence but wasnât really an uncomfortable one either. It was just a silence.
Eddie started rubbing the back of his neck nervously, his gaze flicking repeatedly between you and Steve. Steve was in a similar state, one of his feet tapping anxiously and he kept crossing and uncrossing his arms, his eyes looking between you and Eddie. You seemed to be the only one relaxed, munching on your cereal and looking between the two men.
It seemed like everyone was waiting on someone else to start talking first.
After some time of this, you cleared your throat, which made them both look back over at you.
âUh,â you finally said, smiling shyly at them. âHi.â
âHi,â said both Eddie and Steve at the same time.
âI, uh,â you said, then stopped to clear your throat. âI had a lot of fun last night.â you said.
Before either of them could process what you just said, you started laughing nervously and shook your head.
âSorry,â you said, your cheeks flushing a soft pink. âThat was a really weird thing for me to say after everything. I mean, obviously, I had fun.â
Eddie exchanged another look with Steve, then back to you.
Now you were the one who looked nervous, taking their silent exchange of a look for something else.
âDid, did you two have fun, too?â you asked, shifting on your feet.
Eddie rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
âWell, um, thatâs the thing, Princess,â he said, then stopped, unsure of how to phrase things.
âWe were, uh,â Steve continued after a moment. âActually trying to figure all that out. What happened last night, I mean.â
Your eyes widened at their words, and you looked back and forth between the two again.
âYou guys donât remember?â you asked.
Both men shook their heads.
Your mouth dropped opened in shock.
âExactly h-how drunk were you two last night?â you asked softly.
âI donât remember leaving The Hideout,â Eddie confessed, with a shrug.
âI barely remember the cab ride here,â Steve said. âNothing after that though.â
Your hand flew to your mouth, an expression of horror on your face.
âOh my god, I am so sorry,â you said, your voice remorseful and you looked on the verge of tears. âI had no idea you guys were that drunk, I swear!â
âNo no no!â Eddie said, taking a few steps forward so he could rest a hand on your shoulder. âYou have nothing to be sorry for. This isnât your fault.â
All of a sudden, a very sheepish look came to you face and your cheeks flushed a bright pink.
âActually, um,â you said. âI kind of initiated the whole thing.â
There was a moment of silence.
âWhat whole thing?â Steve asked, voice quiet and tinged with awe.
There was another moment of silence.
âYou know,â you finally said, then gestured between the three of you, as if you were hesitant to say it. âUs. Having sex. It was my idea.â
There was a lot longer than just a moment of silence after that one.
Steve nearly fell over where he was standing but managed to catch his balance.
Eddieâs hand dropped from your shoulder in shock to hang limply at his side.
Now that it was confirmed, Eddie tried once again to remember the night before. Squeezing his eyes shut, he rubbed the bridge of his nose. The fog of alcohol was still too thick to penetrate with his head in the state it was and straining to think didnât do anything but make the headache worse.
âSo, um,â Steve said, finally breaking the silence and making Eddie look up. âH-How did it happen?â
âWell,â you said slowly, swallowing a bite of cereal. âWeâve all been flirting pretty heavily with each other for a while now, and Iâve had a thing for both of you for a long time before that.â A bashful grin came to your face then. âSo, I may have gotten a little buzzed and handsy at the bar, and you both were into it. After we came back here, we had a few more drinks and, wellâŠâ You cleared your throat and looked down shyly. âI decided to try my luck and asked if you two wanted to have sex with me.â
Both Eddie and Steve stared at you in shock.
âYouâve had a thing got us for a while?â Eddie said when he finally found his voice again.
You nodded.
There was a short pause in the conversation as they processed this.
âWell?â Steve said after abit. âWhatâd we say?â
Eddie looked over at him with a raised brow. As if their answer wasnât obvious already.
âTruthfully, not much,â you said as you looked up. âIt escalated pretty quickly after that. Though, you both did double check to make sure I fully understood what I was saying after the alcohol and weed.â A warm smile came to your face. âI thought that was really sweet.â
Now it was Eddieâs turn to look down shyly.
The room was got quiet again.
âBut you said you had fun, right?â Steve suddenly asked. You nodded in confirmation. âThen that must mean we did good, right?â
Eddie looked over at Steve, gawking at him. While this was an entirely new situation for him, Eddie was pretty sure it was in poor taste to ask for a report card after having a threesome.
To his surprise, you didnât seem to mind. Biting your bottom lip, you grinned and nodded.
Eddie couldnât help but grin himself then, a boost of confidence suddenly coming back. It briefly made him forget about the oddness of this situation.
âYeah?â he asked, then decided to be bold. âHow good?â
Now you were blushing again.
âWell, Iâm pretty sore today,â you said, your voice going a bit higher pitched, so you had to clear your throat before continuing. âYou both were pretty enthusiastic all night.â
It wasnât too long after that you had to leave since you were supposed to meet up with family later on. The three of you kept conversation light as you and Steve finished dressing, talking about your plans for the day.
Once you got ready to leave, you gave them each a soft kiss on the lips.
âHopefully once the hangovers go away you guys will remember some of it,â you said with a smile as you headed for the door.
âI sure as hell hope so, Princess,â Eddie groaned before he could stop himself.
While he turned red at his own words, you giggled at him as you opened the door to leave. It was the first time Eddie had ever heard that sound from you and it made his heart speed up. It gave him even more of his confidence back.
âIf we donât remember, any chance there could be a redo?â Eddie asked before he could talk himself out of it.
You froze in mid-step halfway out the door and turned quickly to look at Eddie. The shock on your face was almost comical. A quick glance over at Steve showed him staring at Eddie in horror. Looking back at you, Eddie gave you his biggest grin and winked at you, which he was delighted to see made you blush.
âUm, I-I donât know,â you said, and then a grin of your own slowly spread across your face. âMaybe. Youâll just have to wait and see.â
You sent a wink back at Eddie before leaving then. Steve wasnât too far behind, heading out himself just a few minutes later.
Plopping down on the couch as he listened to Steveâs car driving away, Eddie sighed heavily and rubbed the bridge of his nose. Initially, he didnât have plans for today, but now he knew what he was going to spend the rest of his day doing.
Trying to remember fucking his two very hot best friends.
âThose poor boysâ
âShe deserves to be punished too.â
âIâm not saying I support rape, but-â
âSorry to say - she deserved it.â
âShe put herself in harmâs wayâ
âBut if she was fingered, then thatâs not rape.â
âShe ruined their lives.â
HEY GUYS
The new Venom movie has a scene with intense flashing lights (the lab entry scene) and I received no warnings and had to leave (just for that scene) as I am epileptic!!! PLEASE share this since Iâve seen NO warnings being shared and this is very important and can prevent people from having seizures etc during the film.
NO, IT'S NOT THE WORST FIC I'VE READ. IT'S THE BEST ONE.
I love this so much. Everything is so well written and my heart was doing flips reading it.
Bakugou being a simp is everything to me. And Shoto being the best of friends is đ€.
in which: a stealth mission gone awry leads to a chain of events (or kisses) where you question your relationship with bakugou.
warnings: 8K WORDS, FLUFF WITH ANGST, so much kissing lmfao, slowburn, sfw steamy scenes + suggestive ending- starts intense and ends intense, pining idiots, lovesick idiots, soooo much swearing because it's bakugou, platonic friendships with todoroki and midoriya, all characters aged 22+, gn!pro-hero!reader, bad writing pls excuse me.
a/n: SEVENTH ATTEMPT AT POSTING THIS!!!! GOD this took six days to write, i am exhausted. if you don't like it i will cry bc this drained me, goodness, so reblogs appreciated! i'm so insecure abt this fic so pls tell me i did well, anyways. missed writing for my skrunkly boi!
# ONE ! - the first kiss.Â
this was not ideal.
you listen with widened eyes and a racing heart as youâre pressed against the brick wall of a dingey alleyway, bakugouâs warm palms holding your hips tightly as his chest is pushed up against yours.
he is not looking at you, but instead, looking off to the side so he can hear a little clearer. on the other hand, all you could see was bakugouâs killer jawline, his perfectly smooth skin, and one half of his violent scowl.Â
the silence is disturbing, all you can hear is your heartbeat and bakugouâs heavy breaths, anticipation weighing down the air as you both try to suppress your breathing.
then it comes. heavy footsteps. multiple of them. theyâre running your way and at this rate, youâll be caught by the enemy. what, with bakugouâs hulking figure and the hoodie that just barely covered his spikey blond hair, one glance to their left and you would be caught.Â
this was no good. thereâs no way to get out of this alleyway in time either without attracting attention and being caught.
having a stealth mission gone awry was really embarrassing, especially when youâre pretty sure that bakugou can feel your heartbeat reverberating against him. you hope that he chalks it up to the nervousness you were currently feeling rather than the effect his proximity had on you. or, just the general effect he had on you.
âtheyâre coming,â you whisper so that only bakugou can hear. he finally looks you in the eye, sneering with fury in his crimson eyes. you almost flinch from the intensity of his gaze.
âi fucking know,â he retorts. âour only options are fight or flight, iâm thinking we take them.âÂ
with a drawled out exhale, an idea pops into your head. heâs definitely not going to approve, however.
âiâm gonna kiss you and youâre gonna need to like it.â
the footsteps are getting closer, you can now hear mumbling of the enemies chasing after you and bakugou. their leader is shouting commands and the subordinates are obeying, responding in kind with an âsir!â.
âexcuse me?â
heâs so beautiful up close.Â
âjust, trust me.âÂ
more shouts, more thundering footsteps, all silenced when you lean in to catch bakugouâs lips with yours. his exclamation of surprise is muffled before he promptly melts into you, hands now travelling up your waist as your arms wound around his neck. thereâs an element of stiffness still as his mouth moves against yours, but you doubt youâre any better.Â
this wasnât your first mission together, and most likely wonât be your last. however, the missions he normally accompanied you on were ambush, patrol, and dealing with general threats. stealth missions were a completely different story because bakugou was the loudest hero to ever exist.Â
so what was he thinking when he insisted on going along with you? for safety? he was the threat-
âjump,â his words cut through your thoughts like a warm knife through butter and with the way his hands sneak down to the back of your thighs, you canât help but give in to his demands like a programmed machine.Â
you wrap your legs around his waist, deepening the kiss whilst doing so.
bakugou presses you harder against the wall, ignoring the way his mouth smirks against yours as one of your hands go to cradle his jaw. youâre careful to not remove the hood covering his very obvious blond mop of hair.
youâre letting him lead you through the kiss and itâs intense to say the least. youâre getting increasingly light-headed, but no part of you wants this to stop, screaming with bliss as he avidly seeks your lips, even when you lean back for a short moment to catch your breath.
for an interaction purposefully orchestrated, heâs really getting into it. would he kiss all his coworkers like this when they asked?
several heavy footsteps pass by and youâre just in your right mind to hear someone say âget a roomâ before fading away. you were safe, you could run and make your escape now- a message bakugou hasnât yet comprehended despite how honed his senses are. with the last bit of conscious you have, you physically drag his face away from yours (otherwise you donât think youâll ever be able to stop him).Â
thereâs a moment of silence where you both just stare into the otherâs eyes, lips swollen and eyes wide with the realisation of what just happened.
âtheyâre gone,â you whisper, tearing apart the post-kiss euphoria. âput me down.â
with a grunt, he obliges, allowing you to slip away from him and into the main road again.Â
âletâs go whilst we have the chance. get ready to fly, blasty.â
bakugou is surprisingly silent for the remainder of the mission.Â
# TWO ! - the fleeting kiss.
surprisingly, there hasnât been much mention of the incident you had with bakugou ever since you returned from your stealth mission. intel was acquired, shared with the people who needed it, and nothing was discussed again. to be frank, you donât know how to feel about it.
on one hand, youâre relieved to not be able to relive the experience again but on the other, youâre disappointed to not be able to relive the experience again.
itâs been back to normal with bakugou. the occasional middle finger in the hallways, sticking your tongue at him during meetings, going into his office to bug him and him being very irritated despite not having the heart to remove you. everything fell right back into place, with an obvious piece now awkwardly attaching itself to the puzzle.Â
when you simply think about what happened, your heart begins to race uncontrollably and youâre rendered stupid for a minute as you have to collect yourself.Â
which is why you were throwing your head back in frustration as the cursor of your laptop blinks back at you, a sentence half-written in mocking.
âfuck off,â you whisper to yourself, punching your head even though you knew it would do nothing to stop the replay of the memory. your eyes were beginning to feel sore, mind slowly entering a state of numbness as the idea of taking a quick nap on your desk seemed more tempting than ever.Â
oh well, it wouldnât hurt.
pushing aside your laptop, keyboard, and papers, your submission to sleep is quick and effortless, not even complaining about the roughness of your desk jabbing into your chest as you doze off.Â
the door to the office opens, revealing bakugou standing in the doorway holding some files and a cup of tea- your favourite, to be precise. he furrows his eyebrows in confusion, swearing that you were in your office, except the sight of a totally barren room greeted him made him stop in his tracks. where could you have gone?Â
then, he hears breathing coming from behind your desk and as the blond approaches your space, he canât help the sigh escaping him at the sight of your figure hunched over your work, head rested on your hands. you were just hidden behind your office desk and the massive company monitors.Â
if being a hero doesnât kill him first, then how adorable you were just might.
âyou have a couch in your office for a reason, dumbass,â bakugou breathes to no one in particular.Â
placing the items in his hand on your desk, the pro-hero takes his time analysing the best way to smoothly pick you up without waking you. assessing the situation in record time, he slowly wounds his arms behind your legs and shoulders, effortlessly picking you up to walk the short distance to the couch.
itâs with an unmatched gentleness that he places you down on the piece of furniture, briefly observing how peaceful you seem. bakugou didnât have it in him to be mad at you for slacking off. with how you dedicate so much of yourself to your duties, he knows first hand just how hard you work.Â
heâs seen it since knowing you at u.a and he sees it now as you work at his agency.
he hopes you take care of yourself properly as well.
it hits bakugou that he still has work to be done and that he really should get back to his office to minimise some of the load. so, with a grunt, he stands up.
as a bid of farewell, bakugou places a hand on the arm of the couch before leaning in to press a kiss on your forehead, lingering there for a second before pulling away, retreating back into the hallways where his agencyâs top-heroes worked.Â
the domesticity of this encounter leaves him wanting more. an innate desire to care for you when times get rough settling stubbornly in his gut; and as a pro hero, times always get rough. however, bakugou knows heâs capable of holding up your load simultaneously to his, he just hopes you can understand that as well despite being relentlessly independent.
# THREE ! - the kiss to silence you.Â
you meet your gaze in the full-length mirror of your office with a huff, adjusting the neckline of your attire as you turn around to check your backside in the reflection too.Â
this outfit was mediocre at best and you didnât feel stunning in it at all. there was no way it would match up to the extravagant outfits youâve shown up to hero galas and balls in the past, but since the gala was literally tomorrow, and youâve delayed getting a dress to this point, it was impossible to go for another fitting.
ây/n, have you got the signed files- whoa.â
you meet bakugouâs fiery gaze in the mirror, turning around to greet him with a shy smile, somewhat embarrassed that he showed up at the exact moment you were all dressed up. immediately, you try to play it cool but scolded yourself internally for ignoring the gut feeling that someone would walk in whilst you were trying on your outfit- you just did not preempt for it to be the most attractive man in the building.Â
âuh yeah, i actually do have them. what do you need them for?â you ask, shyly using your hands to cover some parts of yourself despite bakugou already having seen a lot of your skin because of accidents and injuries on missions.Â
âi gotta send them off to dekuâs agency,â he mutters, keeping his gaze low as he treks over to your desk. if you werenât too caught up in your own feelings of humiliation, you wouldâve seen the way his ears flared red, the tint spreading to his cheeks.
then you suddenly blurt out a question for him. âdo you think i look good?âÂ
you meet his gaze in the mirror again, subtly feeling a part of you swell in pride at the way his eyes rake over your figure.
âyou look amazing. is the dress for tomorrow?â he begins to approach you, stopping when heâs right behind you.Â
âyeah. i donât really like it that much.â
âdonât be ridiculous. youâre a sight to behold.â
âthank you,â you mutter half-heartedly, lips twisting with uncertainty. giving bakugou the necklace in your hands that complimented the bracelets you adorned, he immediately understands the message. you try not to react when his warm hands come in contact with your neck. âi just donât think this outfit is flattering though.â
with nimble fingers, he clasps the chain successfully. âwhy?âÂ
âthe colour, the shape, it doesnât feel right, and i really hate it. i would go out and try to buy another dress but thereâs so little time, every appointment is booked because i was stupid enough to avoid getting-â
a kiss behind your ear silences you effortlessly and you feel your breath being stolen when notice bakugou craning his neck down to meet your height.Â
âcalm down, youâre beginning to ramble,â he whispers and you just stare at him with an agape mouth, something that causes him to smirk. then, his hands find their purchase on your waist and it takes a lot of your resolve to not melt into his warmth.
ever since the daring kiss you shared on the mission, bakugouâs been less and less conservative about the affection he shows you. from openly admiring you when having lunch in the agency cafeteria, to manhandling you freely, to leaving kisses, you donât know if your heart can keep up with his sudden change in behaviour.
worst part is, you canât tell if it means anything to him like it does to you.
bakugou is japanâs most desired bachelor. maybe apart from his attitude, there is no public figure adored more than the blond who is standing right behind you. heâs always been known to do things his own way. no rules or preconceived notions can hold him back from doing what he wants. perhaps his shamelessness is a new symbol of how comfortable he is around you,Â
you just wish it could be something more; something more⊠intimate.
but you could never reach bakugou, could you?
âi think you look beautiful but my opinion doesnât matter. you want a new dress?â asks the blond and you nod wordlessly. âi know a place. let me give them a call, owner wonât ever say no to me after i saved her from her. got so many last minute pieces from her store. iâll cover the bill too, just make sure you like what you wear.âÂ
he walks away with new swagger in his stride and you can only stare after him, dumbfounded.Â
well, at least your problems were solved.Â
bakugou might become a new problem.Â
# FOUR ! - the kiss of adoration.Â
the nerves in the limousine were uncontainable. as your sidekicks chattered amongst themselves, trying to rid any anxieties for the long night ahead, you couldnât help but recall your first gala a few years ago. a celebration to commemorate the heroes of japan and everything they do for the peace and safety was always a big deal.
however, having done this several times ever since graduating from U.A few years ago, thereâs little for you to be nervous about.
funny that you were only a few years older than your youngest sidekick (who was 18 years old), yet you were already exhausted by all the extravaganza and decorum.Â
as the limousine approaches the drop off area where all the paparazzi were waiting, it didnât take long for a tremendous tattle of inaudible words and shouts to erupt from them given that the windows were not totally tinted, meaning they could identify who was inside. being one of the biggest hero agencies would have this effect, especially when you were representing the name of #2 himself. but, even if it wasnât bakugou stepping out of the car himself, your rank still placed you remarkably in the greedy eyes of the public.
as your sidekicks file out one by one, with camera flashes practically every millisecond, the hype only worsens when you emerge.
the paparazzi are respectful enough to avoid the path where heroes were walking by and as you wave, smile, and bow to all of them, compliments of how stunning you looked and shouts of âlook here!â all faded into the crowd. then, you made it out.
âwell, if it isnât y/n,â a familiar, baritone calls out from behind you.Â
at the sight of a kind, smiling face, you canât help your grin from breaking out. âshouto. to what do i owe the honour?â
âno need to be so formal with me,â your dual-quirked friend says with open arms, ones that you rush into quite eagerly. shouto always gave such welcoming hugs, youâve been weak to them since second year of u.a. you ignore the camera flashes in your direction. âiâm just happy to see you here tonight.â
âiâm happy to see you too.â
âknowing you, you probably want to escape from here as soon as possible through any means possible.â
âyou are correct.â
âi hope you have room for another escapee.â
his questions causes you to recall fondly to the many galas and events both you and todoroki slipped out of- a feat easier said than done, especially when people are constantly on the look out for their top heroes.Â
âi donât know, i like to go solo,â you say with faux contemplation, âbut youâre the only exception.â
âwell, iâm honoured, especially since you look gorgeous tonight. your outfit is beautiful,â compliments todoroki before grabbing your hand to spin you around, an action you comply with readily and has you both chuckling to yourselves.
âthank you, shouto. you look irresistible as always.â
before he can reply, a familiar mop of green hair joins both yours and todorokiâs side and when you turn to see the face of the newcomer, midoriyaâs smiling and bright expression greets you. he immediately forgoes all greetings.Â
ây/n! you look like you came from a runway,â midoriya marvels before embracing you in a side hug, repeating the same action to the half-and-half hero in front of you. âstunning as always. you too, todoroki!â
you wave his compliment off, flattered at his honesty. âthank you, midoriya. i only managed to pull this look together yesterday if iâm being completely real,â you say with a small chuckle, âbut you look very handsome tonight. love this suit, the colour fits you well!â
todoroki nods, âi agree with y/n, and, congratulations on your agencyâs latest partnership.âÂ
âthank you! iâm excited to see what will come from it, hopefully a lot of good things because-â
âoi, cut it with the rambling, nerd!âÂ
ah, there he is. you never could really miss bakugouâs presence.
âyouâre already beginning to soil my night,â the blond continues when he emerges from behind midoriya. theyâve grown to about the same height now, with midoriya still two centimetres or so shorter than bakugou, but itâs always funny to see how the latter acts as if heâs all big and intimidating (as if todoroki isnât taller than him).Â
âah, kacchan!â midoriya greets, making room for the blond to fit in the circle as kirishima trails behind him.Â
as soon as the red-haired notices you, he gawks, mouth and eyes wide. ây/n!â exclaims the hardening hero. âlooking gorgeous, man!.â
âthatâs what we all said,â todoroki deadpans and you feel a little flustered from all the eyes on you- especially with the addition of a certain crimson pair. âshould we all head in now? the paparazzi is getting on my nerves.â
âsure,â agrees deku, who turns to you with an extended arm. âneed any help?â
youâre about to take his offer and hold on before heâs unceremoniously pushed to the side by bakugou, who offers you his arm instead with a mean look directed to midoriya. a glance of knowing is shared amongst the rest of your former classmates as they all make their way up the stairs.
âi thought midoriya was perfectly capable of helping me himself,â you chuckle before latching on to his forearm.Â
bakugou scoffs. ânot as capable as me.â
âsure, because only the great, pro-hero dynamight can help me up the stairs.âÂ
âdamn straight.â his pride is undeniably endearing, even if itâs a little pointless at times.Â
as he guides you up the stairs, your heart flutters a little at the way he holds you so delicately, all of his attention directed upon you and your safety. when you reach the top, youâre about to enter the ball room and let go of bakugou to talk to more people, but it seems like the blond has other plans.
with a small tug, youâre directed back to him, about to collide with his chest until a hand on your hips stops your momentum.
âthe stylist i gave you worked, huh?â he whispers lowly.
âyes she did. you really saved me,â you respond, feeling your heart skip a beat at the way his eyes rake over your body for a moment before heâs meeting your gaze again. âyou think i look good?â
âi think you look fuckinâ breathtaking.â
you keen at his authentic compliment, trying not to let him see how it effected you. âwell, this is all thanks to you so i owe you- money wise and everything else.âÂ
âyou can repay me by beinâ my date for the night,â he suggests, stroking the back of your hand with his thumb before bringing it up to his lips, placing a delicate kiss there as he maintains eye contact.
you gulp, agreeing before you can even think about the magnitude of his question.
âyou with me? you seem a little far away,â asks bakugou. far away was just the beginning of it.
shaking yourself out of your thoughts, you nod wordlessly before grabbing his arm to pull him towards the bustling crowd of heroes. every group if briefly silenced when you and the explosive hero pass by, eyes lingering a little too long at the arm that bakugou has around your waist.
this feels surreal.Â
he stands behind you like an intimidating shadow as you both speak to a range of people from support tech ambassadors, business consultants, aspiring heroes and sponsors- a crowd that only grows with the years youâve been working in the industry.Â
surprisingly, no one is brave enough to question what is happening between you and bakugou upfront.Â
eventually, everyone moves into a separate hall where dinner would be served. since you and bakugou were representing the same agency, your names were already on the same table. when realising that you were seated across from him, he scowls and shamelessly swaps the tags around, not at all remorseful when he sits down on his assigned seat and pats the vacant spot next to him. with an eye roll, you oblige dutifully.Â
âhold still,â you command the blond before reaching over to fix his tie, tightening it and aligning it properly before sitting back in satisfaction at your efforts. âthere. handsome and proper.â
âhandsome, huh?â bakugou teases with a shit-eating grin and you scoff, pushing his face away jokingly. you mutter an unimpressed âwhateverâ, ignoring the laughter that rips from the blond.Â
moving the conversation along, you sit up in your seat a little bit. âdid you see who was sitting at our table when you moved everything around?â
âjust a bunch of old geezers. thereâs that one marketing manager of some support gear business who kept bugging me last year to consider partnering with him,â he scoffs.Â
âyour luck, huh?âÂ
âfuck off, iâm just gonna ignore him for the whole night.â
âsure, do whatever you want, big guy.â
âi will. these extras donât matter when iâve already hired all the best in their industries. youâre my first example of that.â
your heart flutters at his recognition, about to respond with a quip when all of a sudden, your table guests materialise in front of you. all of them take their respective seats, settling down with formal greetings as you adjust yourself as well. only bakugou was unmoving, leaning against the back of his chair whilst merely staring every down as they appeared; an attitude very in character for him.
the night goes along rather smoothly. you do majority of the talking, forcing bakugou to respond and answer questions here and there, which he begrudgingly does. at least the people that were on your table were talkative themselves and could converse amongst themselves, leaving you with enough mental space to not solely concentrate on the way the explosion hero was holding your hand under the table.
the occasional caresses he placed along the back of it was enough to slowly drive you insane. he was being really shameless about the whole physical affection ordeal.Â
he acts similar to that a boyfriend should and the canniness has made you woozy. so much so that it strains your throat to breathe, hurts your heart to think about and makes your whole being itch with want.
what cemented your doom was the way he was willing to swap your plate with his if yours was a dish you didnât like. he would offer to take the ingredients you werenât fond of and give you the ones on his plate that you were. as if that wasnât the most endearing thing he could do this evening, he would tell you that thereâs food around your mouth before wiping it away. you owe a âthank youâ to mitsuki and masaru for raising him to be like this.Â
when the final dish of dinner was served, many jumped from their seats with the opportunity to mingle around; something that occurred at your table too to your relief. as the representatives all place their business cards in front of you, you farewell them with a friendly smile before slipping the small slips into bakugouâs shirt pocket, something he allows you to do.
âdynamight,â an authoritative voice comes from behind and when you both turn around to see who the instigator is, youâre a little surprised to see a well-dressed man in proper business man attire. he resembled tony stark- even down to his goatee and moustache. âpleasure to meet you. my name is yuu noguchi and i am a specialist in support gear. may i have a second of your time?âÂ
your eyes widen in recognition at the name. the man standing in front of you was currently one of the most desired support gear directors in the industry and apparently, had the skills to benefit almost every hero, no matter how difficult their requests were. it was thanks to his quirk, something about limitless intelligence.
so it wasnât only because of the tony stark resemblance that you recognised him.Â
bakugou glances at you, inquiring for your approval which you give by ushering him out of his seat. as you watch him strut away with the yuu beside him, you canât help but feel relieved because now your heart could have a chance to calm down and give your lungs a moment to breathe.
âam i right to assume that you and mr bakugou are an item?â comes a voice from your left.
itâs the old geezer your date was complaining about earlier. somehow he sneaked his way from across the table to right next to you, leaning over now-empty plates of food as he gives you a look that shakes you to your core. not in the good way that bakugou can do.
âonly for the night,â comes your curt reply. âi am his date to this gala.âÂ
âfascinating.â
âwhat you find so interesting about that?â
âperhaps youâd rather i not say, but, to be truthful, my theory has been plaguing my mind all night.â
raising an eyebrow at him was his only indication that you wish for him to expand on his point.
he obliges. âwell, you of course know about dynamiteâs competitive spirit, and how he has been constantly battling deku in all realms of hero work? rankings, the amount of employees, even popularity.â
was mentioning midoriya necessary? their past history has never been the cleanest, and although you knew bakugou wished he could have a clean slate with the one for all user, sometimes their relationship brought a little awkwardness to conversations.
âi cannot help but assume that, in order to pass deku once again, he is using you to his advantage?â
you canât help exposing your emotions through your microexpressions; something he catches onto.Â
bakugou? using you?Â
âright now deku is the hottest talk of the hero world with his latest partnership because of all the humanitarian advocacy he is partaking in. heâs gaining a lot of fans too. perhaps bakugouâs only way of upstaging midoriya is by using his well-liked status to the public a juicy scoop on his potential, new relationship, especially with one of japanâs favourite heroes. no doubt it will boost his name in the media, and give him a momentary push over the edge.â
you narrow your eyes at what his suggestion and although it pained you to admit, it had some credibility behind it. it even justified why bakugou has been acting weirdly attentive with you, and if you recalled properly, his sudden change in behaviour began around the news of midoriyaâs initiative.Â
but heâs not like that, right? your relationship canât be reduced to simply article headlines and traction⊠right?
âthatâs just my take as a specialist in the hero industry, specifically when it comes to brand and image,â the man ends, placing his hands on the table before standing up. âi hope the rest of the night treats you splendidly.â
when he waddles away, youâre left sitting at the same, empty tables. whilst the exterior may seem relaxed and collected, a whirlpool of thoughts erupt within, your thoughts jumbling and fumbling over one another.
without thinking, you end up at a table marked by todorokiâs agency logo, desperately searching for your dual-haired friend. in your haste, you didnât preempt knocking into a body with hardened muscles and when you look up to see who was the glorified wall, you breathe a sigh of relief when itâs todorokiâs concerned face you see.
maybe fate was kind to you tonight.
âsomething wrong, y/n?â he asks in that caring tone of his.
âyes,â comes your quick and frantic reply. todoroki sees right through that frazzled expression of yours.
âis it bakugou?â
âyes- can we get out of here? i donât care about propriety right now.â
âhold on, donât get too ahead of yourself. the media will have a storm if they see us together after youâve been accompanying dynamight the whole night.âÂ
âyouâre right.â youâre could get a headache from simply imagining the repercussions youâre going to go through with your pr team if todoroki didnât have his head on his shoulders. âdo you have any solutions?â
âi could cause a fire and start an evacuation?â
âyouâre ridiculous.â
âi was kidding. there is an authorised only back door escape near the bathrooms. i think it leads to the back of the building. does that sound better?â
âmuch. thank you, todoroki, i really appreciate it.â
âno problem. iâm looking forward to having a gossip âseshâ about bakugou.â
you snort unceremoniously, amused by him and his deliberate choice of trendy language. if he was trying to cheer you up, it was working.Â
following his instructions, you are more than relieved to see that the back door did indeed, lead to the back gardens of the site where gala was held. if you were correct, the parking lot for chauffeurs would be on the right side.Â
minutes later, you find yourself ranting to todoroki, taking it from the whole beginning and recounting every, minute detail of the journey.
â-and then we kissed during our stealth mission which only made it worse because then i realised i was flipping in love with him!â
âonly just then?â asks todoroki with a questioning look.Â
âlook, i had the hots for him in third year because of his growth spurt, i didnât like him so donât give me that look,â you justify, silencing him with a finger in his face. âanyways-â
â-is bakugou a good kisser?â
you press your lips together, unsure of how to answer without sounding ridiculous but really, your silence was the answer todoroki needed. he tilts his head to the side slightly, entertained by your sudden flustered behaviour before redirecting one hundred percent of his attention back your direction.
âfind out yourself,â you finally quip. despite how delayed your comeback was, the half-and-half pro-hero still laughs. âso after that mission, bakugouâs been acting weird with me ever since. everything heâs been doing is just so unlike him. i find him staring at me from time to time and when i catch him, he doesnât look away, just does that stupid, smug smirk of his! heâs been more handsy, and, this is the most confusing part.âÂ
âyesterday, i didnât have an adequate outfit for tonightâs gala. i had something planned but it just wasnât right and i was really down about it. well, bakugou walked in my office when i was trying it on-â
â-couldnât you have done that at home?â
âshouto. come on. i was planning to go straight from work to the gala because the grind never stops, you know this. so i was trying it on and i was telling him that i didnât like my outfit at all and then he kissed me on the back of my ear,â you explain, vividly using your hands to help your story.Â
the way todorokiâs eyes widen a little makes you feel better that you have someone else also astounded by bakugouâs boldness. âhe⊠kissed⊠your ear?â
âyes!â
âwhy your ear?â
âi donât know, shouto!â
âbut why did he kiss you?â
âi donât know, shouto! thatâs not something friends or coworkers do to one another.â
âright. i would never kiss your ear. or you.â
âi would never kiss you either, which confuses me so much as to why bakugou did that! and then he referred me to a personal stylist- who was amazing, i will absolutely be returning to her again- and when i showed up at the gala, he was just acting so⊠off!â
âlike how he pulled you away from midoriya.â
âprecisely! it got worse because when we arrived at the entrance, i was about to enter but then he stopped me by pulling my hand, which he then proceeded to kiss!â you exclaim animatedly, gesturing to the same hand. âthen he asked me to be his date!â
âthatâs odd. why not ask you in advance?â
âright?â
todoroki hums in contemplation for a second, furrowing his eyebrows as he thinks- a habit he has not rid of since u.a. âif i was going to be honest y/n, i was about to say my theory is that bakugou has a crush on you, but asking you to be his date tonight? it feels a little off to me.â
âwhy?â
âif he truly wanted you to accompany him to the gala, he wouldâve asked beforehand. doing it tonight just feels a little⊠orchestrated, asking whilst you were all dressed up,â todorokiâs articulate words pierce you through the heart and you feel your chest deflate, understanding what he was saying. âi donât want to assume anything of this because that is not in bakugouâs character, heâs never superficial about anything he does.â
you sigh, quietly muttering the next statement. âbelieve it or not youâre not the first person tonight telling me that bakugou has some ulterior motive with me.âÂ
your friendâs is taken aback, his hair jumping with his sudden movement. âwho else?â
âsome old, marketing guy from a support gear company that kept bothering bakugou at last yearâs gala,â you huff, placing your chin on your hand as you fiddle with the bracelets adorning your wrist. âsaid something that really messed with my brain.â
âhm?â
now finding your nails a lot more interesting than your dual-quirk friend, you donât think you can meet his eyes whilst repeating the embarrassing statement.Â
âhe said that since bakugou and midoriya have been rivals and competing against each other since they were young, bakugou was using me as a chance to one-up deku. especially because dekuâs the hottest talk in the hero world right now because of that partnership. he thought that if i could stand and look pretty by bakugouâs side, it would boost his image and get him into the headlines,â you spit, sounding more aggressive with each word that leaves your mouth.
you want to punch a wall.
todoroki places a gentle hand on your shoulder, one that felt grounding and reassuring. kind.
âyouâre more than just someone who can sit and look pretty,â he begins, âanyone who says otherwise is clearly stupid. youâre one of the top heroes in japan, simplifying your reputation to only benefit someone by being their date is offensive and incredibly ignorant.â
his assured words lifts your spirit a little, but thereâs still that little bit of weight clasping at your ankles. âbut what if bakugou doesnât see it that way?âÂ
âthen heâs an idiot.â
the laugh that escapes you makes your chest feel lighter; a remedy for the horrible emotions swirling in your gut. âyouâre right. this is all just so frustrating,â you mutter into your palms. âi need to stop thinking about bakugou or i will obliterate him the next time i see him.â
todoroki huffs, entertained. âi donât think you should hold any malice towards him. let the truth reveal itself, weâre both getting ahead of ourselves.â
âyeah,â you sigh before fishing for your phone. âplease take photos of me, i look too good tonight to not post myself on instagram. i need a distraction from my wallowing.â
âas you wish.â
# FIVE ! - the kiss of confession.Â
you did not take todorokiâs advice at all and instead, got ahead of yourself. the first day back to work since the gala, you began deliberately avoiding bakugou- as immature as that was.
itâs a task easier said than done because avoiding bakugou was really hard. like, really really hard. given that his office was literally right beside yours, it was hard to walk by his glass doors and pretend to not notice him in there, especially since he liked to weight lifts and walk around as he worked. you could probably draw bakugouâs build from heart with how many times you gawked at him as you passed by.
plus heâs the face of the wholeass agency, so. thereâs that.
the only solution you fathomed was to pick up more patrols during work hours, leaving more often during the day to return exhausted and irritated at night whilst you dealt with office work. seeing your sour mood apparently was enough to turn bakugou- and everyone else, away.Â
your assistant has booked you spa schedules for almost every weekend. multiple of them.
avoiding bakugou evolved from the root of two problems. the first one being the whole gala fiasco, the second one being that you genuinely donât believe itâs good for your health if he kept acting as intimate as he had with you. however, the more you thought about it, youâre not even sure if heâd treat you the same way he did before the gala and youâre also not risking any chance of finding that out.
âyou got another commission at downtown honei! join the cops in chasing down the assailant who claims to be âlava manâ. police recommend to bring another hero,â a voice from your operator calls and you quickly reply with a âon itâ. your first thought was ridiculing the villain name: âlava manâ. wonder what his quirk was.
adjusting your hero gear as you walk out of your office, you run into the exact gorgeous face youâve been avoiding.Â
ây/n i need to- where are you going in such a hurry?â asks bakugou, scrunching his eyebrows upon noticing your haste. you continue walking past him and without thinking, he trails behind.
âcommission. iâm going to get backup.â
âi can join-â
â-no, stay here. iâm calling kirishima on this one,â you say, sparing him a momentary glance to see a look of frustration appearing in his eyes.Â
he looks like heâs bursting at the seams to say something, but the blond shoves all protests down and shouts out a âstay safeâ before youâre turning around the corner.
the commission is easy enough and you solved it before the clock could progress another hour. the hard part was that you kept receiving mission after mission, unable to catch a break to have some lunch or retreat to the agency when you had to keep reprimanding villains. seriously, why did they all unanimously pick today to be menaces to society?
your muscles were getting increasingly sore, your body was starting to feel the after effects of your quirk, and you were grumpy for how little time you got to rest.Â
after reporting back your last commission for the day, you finally find some time to buy some food from your favourite ramen place. pathetically carrying the plastic bag all the way up to your office, you open the glass door with a grunt because of how much your body ached from one simple movement. you were going to be in even more pain tomorrow; maybe you should request a day off to see your physiotherapist.Â
as you leant against the front of your desk to search for the contact of your trusted physiotherapist, you jump about 2 feet when the door to your office slams open, revealing a fuming bakugou.
blinking once, then twice in fear, you feel cornered.
âuh⊠can i help you?â comes your meek greeting.
âyeah you can fuckinâ help me!â he booms, crossing the floor to stand directly in front of you, face only a few inches away from yours. âmind telling me why youâve been avoiding me ever since the gala? and why you didnât respond to any of my texts since?â
you cringe at the mention of the texts. whilst you were complaining your heart out to todoroki, bakugou was asking where you went and why you didnât tell him you were leaving. messed up move on your part, but it genuinely pained to even read his contact name, let alone send him a text to pretend like everything was okay.
now that heâs this close again, you realise just how much youâve missed him.
your heart is doing laps again, and your arms suddenly itch with a desire to pull him close.
âdonât try to say something stupid like you havenât been avoiding me, because you clearly have,â he scolds but the hurt in his eyes are very visible. it was time to just give him the truth, even if it still hurts you to think about.
with a sigh, you decide to surrender to your downfall through the form of a simple confession.Â
âi like you.â
the tension in the room increases by tenfold. your lungs tighten from how suffocating his presence is, especially as he looms over you, allowing you no space to breathe.
then he does something incredibly unexpected: he kisses you.Â
you feel your mind spinning and your heart picking up even more than you thought humanly possible. the way he curves himself around you is too much, the fire he ignites within your stomach, burning you from the inside out with his passion was too much, and the feeling of how desperately he was holding you against him was too much. heâs bleeding with love and need.
bakugouâs lips move against yours with a hint of urgency behind his actions, and you donât have it in you to deny him. so, you fully give in to the unstoppable force of bakugou katsuki, allowing him to pick you up and seat you on your office desk.
somehow your hands end up tangled in his hair and his are roaming all over your body, unable to find purchase for even a millisecond as he commits learning you to memory.
you snap back to reality when a grunt of satisfaction slips past his mouth and into yours, causing you to abruptly jump back whilst simultaneously pushing him away. you miss his warmth already, grip steady on his shoulders to keep him away.
the look of hunger and yearning in bakugouâs eyes tells you that heâs not yet satisfied.
âhold on- stop- we need to discuss this-â you stammer before being cut off by the blond.
â-i have been waitinâ forever for this fucking moment. discussion over-â
â-no, bakugou-â you push his face away, even as he keeps inching forward, hands tugging your closer towards his toned body, â-katsuki.â
bakugou perks up at the mention of his given name, stopping his struggle completely. you only ever use it to capture his attention but he wishes that you would use it for more casual means rather than purposeful ones. it sounds so nice when you say it after all.
âi need a second to think,â you explain, rubbing your temples.Â
âtalk to me, pretty. i can only answer if you verbalise your thoughts.â
âso you genuinely like me? youâre not using me for, yâknow, media rep and shit?â
the most flabbergasted, appalled, and astounded expression appears on bakugouâs face. he looks absolutely livid and you begin wondering why you ever assumed the things you did.
âthe fuck?â comes his reply. âwhy the fuck would you think that? who the fuck made you think that?â
you feel small under his fiery gaze, unable to properly look him in the eye as you recount the conversation shared between you and the old, marketing representative of the support gear company. with each sentence bakugouâs scowl grows deeper.
one the story is over, you knew that you were in for a mouthful. in more ways than one.Â
âthat stinky, old geezer was why you were ignoring me? i thought i messed up or something, but this was because you actually listened to that extra? are you fuckinâ kidding me? iâve been dyinâ because of you refused to even look at me and some asshole is the cause of that?â he asks. âiâm about to blow a bitch up-â
â-no, katsuki!â
would you look at that. heâs calm again.
âdonât do that. itâs my fault, i let him get to my head and suddenly some insecurities i didnât even know i had started emerging. if itâs anyone that needs to apologise itâs me, iâm sorry for how iâve been treating you after the gala, and for doubting you.â
âyeah you better be. donât do this shit again,â the blond commands. âyou really think that low of me that iâd use you to help my reputation?â
âi think it was moreso i thought really lowly of myself. to me, it didnât make sense that you would ever be interested in me.âÂ
a beat passes. he flops himself against you again, letting you hold up majority of his weight.Â
âyouâre kiddinâ, right? youâre a fuckinâ gem and iâll kill anyone who wonât treat you like one because i just had the worst few days of my life from this bullshit,â he complains, burying himself into the juncture of your shoulder and your neck.Â
the giggle of flattery escapes your lips before you can stop it, and you rub your hands soothingly along his spine before admitting a question that has plagued your mind ever since. âwhyâd you ask me to be your date at the gala and not beforehand?â
âi was nervous and chickened out every time i tried,â he confesses quietly, grumbling lowly into your skin. âwhen i saw you at the gala i swore i got a heart attack, and when that nerd almost swept you off your feet, i had to do something. i knew iâd lose you otherwise.â
âwhat, donât want to lose to deku again?â you ask with a teasing tone. bakugou bites your skin. you yelp.
âwatch your mouth.â
âyouâll be relieved to know that i donât want anyone but you, katsuki.â
âya sure?â
âiâve been sure for a while.â
the blond laughs, murmuring a âyouâre perfect. too good for meâ before connecting your lips again. you hum into him before muttering a âyeah i amâ against his mouth. it makes him smirk.Â
when you part, you pat his shoulder as a sign of surrender. âi need to get to working on some files so if you donât mind-â
as you try to shuffle off your table, bakugou stops you before your feet can even touch the ground. âare you kidding?â he challenges in an accusatory tone. âyouâre not doing shit, youâve been on commissions all day. have you even had a meal?â
âi just bought some ramen for myself,â you say whilst gesturing to the bag on your desk.Â
he grumbles. âwant me to warm it up?â
âno, itâs okay,â reaching around you to open the laptop sitting on your desk, bakugouâs quick to shut it close again.
âwhat part of âyouâre not doing shitâ do you not understand? fuckinâ rest!â
life is a little surreal right now, especially with bakugouâs aggressively ambiguous way of nurturing people. then he grabs the noodles and rips opens the packaging, fishing for the chopsticks also provided before ripping that apart too. so shameless in everything he does, thatâs a habit heâll never lose, you suppose.Â
you unknowingly smile when considering the prospect that bakugouâs shamelessness is something you have to deal with even more now.
a small cat fight erupts when you realise that the blond had full intentions of feeding you the ramen himself and your dignity refused to let him. he eventually coaxed you by saying heâll take your commissions for the next three days and the soreness of your muscles found the deal a little too tempting. with a huff, you give in.
âramen smells good,â he comments absentmindedly.
âitâs my favourite place. not too far away. we should go someday,â you say in between mouthfuls.
he scoffs in dismissal but the pink tint of his ears contrast his reluctant attitude. âit better not let me down.âÂ
you stop for a second, grabbing your phone and searching through your contacts again. âi need to book a session with my physiotherapist.âÂ
âwhy?â
âshe gives the best massages and my body is so sore right now.â
âi think i can help with that.â
âreally?â
âdonât underestimate me,â bakugou says, paired with a wink. you canât help but assume thereâs a not-so-innocent undertone to his intentions, especially with the way he smirks. âi could help you relax in more ways than one.â
goodness, were you in for a ride.
NOOOOOOOOO đđđđđđ

But sometimes, the best isnât what our heart wants; the perfect isnât what our heart seeks.
âDid you find it?â Before Satoru could even answer, you came jogging in. Your gaze shifted between him and Toji, curious as you noticed the awkward silence that took over when you approached. OrâŠhas it been there before you came? âWhat is it?â You asked, puzzled. Walking inside, your eyes met Satoruâs. He shook his head, giving a small smile before answering.
âNothing. Toji was just saying that we should check Yuiâs things to make sure we didnât forget anything else.â You could see his Adam's apple bob up and down, eyes half blinking. âWell yeah, I did. Her extra shirt was still on the hanger. I ironed it earlier.â You walked past him, smiling at Toji before you jogged upstairs, making the two men relax.
âY-yeah, of course. I could free my schedule, just tell me the details.â Satoruâs voice was much lower; quieter when he was sure that you were out of earshot. Toji nodded, blinking as he took a deep breath. âIâm glad you didnât tell her.â Satoru doesnât know why he hid it from you, but he felt like it would only worry you.Â
But could he really not tell you about it? He doesnât want to lie to you.
âYou know, it could only worry her; she probably doesnât even trust us in the same room together.â He added as if sensing Satoruâs doubts. Heâs got a point, but still, Satoru wants your relationship to be transparent. Yes, he still hasnât told you about what happened with Naomi and his mother but thatâs a different case.
âJust send me when and where.â Satoru took a deep breath, pulling out a calling card before quickly handing it to Toji as he kept an eye on the hallway to make sure you didnât see any of it. âThough, she probably wonât be happy about not being informed of this-â Footsteps can be heard as you appear with the clothing item in your hand.
âWhy didnât you go to Yui? Letâs go.â You gave Toji a quick kiss and goodbye before walking out the door, looking back at him just to make sure that he was already after you. And he is, but not without glancing at Toji who only nodded at him. âI was waiting for you, I could see the car from there.â He explained, opening the car door for you.
âYaaaay Mama! Dada!â The little girl put her hands up, opening and closing her chubby fingers, âNummy!â She squealed louder as Satoru wiggled the pacifier in his hands, legs kicking as she desperately tried to grab it. âWhatâs my name?â He tried to keep the object away from her.
âToru! Dada Toru!â She pushed on her chair, trying to move closer to her dad. Satoru laughed, letting her take the pacifier in her small hands. âHereâs your Nummy.â He cooed before putting on his seatbelt, ready to drive. You looked at him through the rearview mirror, meeting his gaze for a split second before you looked away.
âWhat is it?â He asked you, raising his brows as he drove. You shook your head, âNothing, I was justâŠI was wondering if you and Toji get along well now.â You didnât really want to ask this to Toji because he still gets grumpy at the mere mention of Satoruâs name in your conversations, which canât be helped since theyâre almost always about Yui.
âI thinkâŠâ He let out a small laugh at the end of his short answer. For a second, he thought about telling you of his conversation with Toji butâ âIt could only worry her.â His words reverberated in his head, making him bite his lip, waiting for your reaction. âOkay. Itâll get better, I guess.â You let out a large breath, lightly slapping your thighs with your hands.
âIâll⊠Iâm really trying to be less annoying to him. I know that itâs uncomfortable for the both of you.â He was trying to find the right words to assure you. He doesnât want you to think that heâs threatening your new relationship. Your new happiness.
âAnd that he probably doesnât even want you around me even for a minute and thatâs why I was saying that we should lessenââ You turned to look at him, making him pause as he quickly glanced at you. He was worried that he may have said something wrong or hurtful to you. Thatâs the last thing he wants.
âSatoru.â You licked your lips, feeling bad that he was probably feeling the same way you did when he was still with Naomi. Probably much worse because heâs also regretting so many things at the same time. âWe donât have to do that. We do it for Yui, I could talk about it with Toji. I will.â You start to look back on how your âtalksâ with him went.
But if itâs for Yui, youâre determined to make him understand and make all of this work.
âWe canât give Yui the family she deserves.â The words tasted bitter on your tongue as you leaned your elbow on the car window, massaging your temple. âBut I donât want her to feel that.â Thinking about the time scares you; how fast it goes, how quickly it changes. You fear that youâll wake up one day and you wonât have answers to her questions.
âHeyâŠâ You felt a hand on yours, noticing the car stop. You turned your head at Satoru, only noticing how blurry your vision has gotten. âYouâre already doing so many things for her. She wonât feel that. Thatâs why Iâm still here. You donât have to shoulder this alone even if weâre not with each other.â
In Satoruâs head, he doesnât like that youâre not with each other. But if thatâs what heals you from everything heâs put you through, then so be it. But that doesnât mean that he wonât be there for you; only heaven knows how much he wants to give you everything if only you allow it.Â
But heâs not that lucky anymore.
It took you a minute to snatch your hand away, probably just needing the warmth that it provided you in that vulnerable time, but you still did. âSorry,â He murmured as you turned away, wiping under your eyes quickly. âDid you have breakfast? Iâll get us something.â He cleared his throat, thinking about how Toji probably cooked breakfast for you.
âIâll just have coffeeââ You sat up straight, getting cut off by your baby as she struggled to get out of her seat. âMama! Ma!â She whined, kicking her feet as she reached up to you and pointing outside. âDo you want something, Miss?â Turning her attention to Satoru. âShe wants to go inside.â You spoke, removing your seatbelt.
âAlright, come on.â You stepped out of the car to get her, letting Satoru take her small bag. She squealed at the drawing of the cartoon on the wall, making you kiss her cheek. âThatâs why she wanted to go inside.â Satoru laughed, letting you walk in first. Greeted by the employee as you scanned their menu, your daughter started pointing.
âSuch a cute baby,â An old woman beside you said, âLooks very much like the Dad.â She laughed, making Satoru pat the little girlâs head, proud. âThank you, Maâam. Sheâs a mini of him.â You joked, allowing the old lady to play with your child as you conversed with the employee.
For some reason, the interaction made you feel warm. Itâs been a while since you felt like this when going out with them. You used to avoid these situations with him due to how things were, but lately, your guardâs been down around him. Maybe itâs because you can see with your own eyes how much he changed.Â
If only he was like this before, would things have been better?
âHow old is she?â The old womanâs voice sounded far, drowned by your thoughts. âSheâs 2, maâam.â You could feel Satoruâs hand on your shoulder, snapping you out of your trance. Your eyes met his, overflowing with concern as he tried to keep a conversation with the woman until she left.
âYou ok?â He spoke, adjusting Yui on the baby seat. âYou zoned out earlier.â He made sure to pull the chair for you before going to his. Shaking your head, you gave a small smile, âItâs nothing, just trying to recall if I packed everything she needs.â It wasnât convincing, but Satoru felt like heâd be meddling too much if he asked further.
Maybe he really should not add up to the things youâre worrying about.
âââââââââââââââââââ
âWhat is it about?â Satoruâs fingers tapped on his jeans, nervous as to what his baby mama's boyfriend was about to ask him. He was worried that itâd have something to do with the time he spent around you. Satoru isnât sure if itâs possible to reduce that since you have a daughter.
âYou know, to be honest, I just want to know how you see things.â Toji started, putting down his mug. âI know what happened between you and Y/N before I came along but I want to know what you were planning to do if I didnât appear.â Satoru was confused as to why he was asking all of it but his brain started to think back to it, nonetheless.
At that time, he was thinking about marrying Naomi. He saw it as an assurance that he was doing so much better; convinced that she was truly the one for him. Spending a year with her, he was sure that she was the better person for him. What with his daughter calling her mom, he thought that maybe it could put an end to most of his problems with you.
Recalling all of this just made him realize how much worse things couldâve been.
Seeing the pain in your eyes the moment those hurtful words came out of his mouth set all of these plans on fire. You looked shattered; like the tiniest glimmer of hope in your eyes died along with your aching heart, hearing that the man you love regrets everything he had with you.Â
It almost felt like stepping so abruptly on the brakes that he hit his head from the impact. When you crumbled in front of him that day, you were bare to Satoru. All the feelings, all the pain that you held in your heart were presented before him.
Satoru remembered thinking about why you were like that with him, why you acted indifferent. 'She has always loved me this much. She was just hurt.' And it broke him too. A couple of days after that, he tried. He tried to tell himself that it was just the emotions, that it was just the guilt eating him up and thatâs why he couldnât see anything but you.Â
But he caught himself thinking about how heâd like to put you back together again piece by piece if he was given a chance.
He didnât think too much of it; just a poor interpretation of his feelings towards your pain. He thought about his loving girlfriend, he reminded himself that there was someone who willingly put up with him when he was a mess. Thatâs how it always went. Thatâs how he pushed the thoughts of you away. With her, her words, her touch, her body.
But itâs never enough when he thinks about how you probably cry yourself to sleep at night, thinking about why you werenât enough to get the same treatment that he was giving her. Thatâs when his plans started to falter; like a building threatening to crumble, dust began to shower down on them.
The day he went to your house, he found himself fixing his collar, and his hair, thinking about the words to say to you. And if youâre not there, he thought of ways to get to you. But there Toji stood. With a smug look on his face and marks all over his neck that scream âI just fucked the girl you dreamt about last night.âÂ
That day he wanted to ask him directly what the fuck he think heâs doing, but that wouldnât seem right, knowing that Satoruâs nothing but a baby daddy to you. That day was a deja vu. All the events that happened between the two of you are being shown to him, and it seems like heâs feeling the pain threefold.
After that, Satoru tried. He tried to tell himself that he just got upset because of how disrespectful Toji was acting. He just couldnât stand that he acted as if he owned everything in that place, even flexing the hickeys you gave him the other night.
He thought that was the worst he could see that day but for some reason, seeing you in that shirt with marks on your collarbones triggered something in him. A question he didnât see coming popped up in his brain and along with it was the guilt that he felt for his girlfriend:Â
Am I too late?
The next thing he knew he was getting up and getting ready for when you pick Yui up from his place. He caught himself pulling at his clothes and pushing his hair back as he waited for you to open your door; like a teenage boy waiting for his crush. He denied himself that he wanted to look good; to look better for you.
Until it all sank in; until he couldnât handle it any longer. Each time he sees you with Toji, doing things that you should be doing with him, he gets pushed a bit more. He was already getting pulled back towards you again even before he came along but now that heâs beside you, it felt like Satoruâs spiraling back to you at the speed of light.
Then, that night happened. When all the bands that he used to stop himself snapped.
âI would appreciate it if we could be honest with each other. This could greatly affect the decisions Iâm about to make.â Tojiâs serious voice interrupted Satoruâs memories. He blinked, clearing his vision of him. He stared at the cup with a grim expression, which made Satoru realize the weight of the conversation.
This is not just a conversation, Satoru thought, licking his lips before speaking again.
âIâdâŠBack then, I was denying what I wanted. IâŠI was trying to get her back. Not just to make up for all that I said and done.â He rubbed his palms on his pants, seeing Toji lean back on his office chair. âI had a girlfriend, then. Naomi. I didnât really want to admit to myself that my heart wants to get back with Y/N when Iâm with someone so good to me.â He shook his head.
Satoruâs disappointment and anger about what happened between him and Naomi felt like a ton on his chest. She was a good woman to him and itâs true, but thinking about how everything aged; he canât even bear the thought of her and his memories with her. Itâs just sad that it had to end that way.
He canât help but to blame himself for the actions that she took. He couldâve written a better ending for them.
Satoru heard Toji sigh as he straightened his legs under his table, crossing his arms as he nodded for Satoru to continue. âThen, you appeared. And I donât know. I donât even know how it happened but everything that I was feeling about her was rushing into me faster than it used to and maybeâŠâ Satoru panted, shrugging as he gestured with his hands.
He couldnât believe that he was really talking about this to his baby momma's boyfriend. âIt just got me desperate. I told myself I was too slow and I lost my chance and I really did butâŠâ He looked at Toji, wanting to convey his sincerity. âI just want her to be happy. I feel like all I did was ruin things for her. I donât want to ruin what she has with you.â
It was a tough thing to say for Satoru. The words felt like shards of glass in his heart. Itâs not what he wants but if itâs what he must do then heâll do it. Tojiâs silence got him wondering if he was pissed or relieved that Satoru was aware that he was not getting you back as long as he was there. But in Tojiâs mind, thatâs not the case.
âSo youâre saying that you wanted to get her back even before she got with me?â He blinked slowly, trying to comprehend Satoruâs words. âI thought you only started to want her back because you donât want to see her with someone else.â He didnât bother filtering the words. He canât think of a better way to put this.
âItâs always her. Even if I end up with someone else, I need her to know that I had always wanted it to be her.âÂ
Toji didnât think that Satoru would be this transparent to him about his feelings towards you. There was an eerie look in his eyes as he stared at the open window, a defeated look plastered on his face.Â
âIf I didnât enter the story, would you still be doing all of this for her now?â Satoruâs eyes were back at him, nodding as he sat straight. âYes. It would probably take longer than it did but Iâm sure that I was bound to fall back into her at some point.â Tojiâs brows furrowed, trying to think of what the situation would be like if it were like that.
âWerenât you planning to marry Naomi?â Satoru chuckled bitterly, considering it another poor and rash decision that he made. âI was. Before I fought with Y/N.â Before he found that small light of hope in your eyes. Before he realized that not all of it was lost.
Toji laughed, rubbing his face with his palm as everything that had been going on sank in. Heâs talking with his girlfriendâs ex. And heâs telling him all of this. Like itâs the most natural thing to do. He sighed, swallowing as he bit his lip, feeling himself getting agitated by the second.Â
âI know I said Iâd appreciate honesty, but I didnât think youâd actually say all that to my face.â He chuckled bitterly, recalling every sentiment he just said about you. âIâm her boyfriend. Her new man.â His chest heaved, blinking to allow himself to calm down. Heâs the one who asked for this to happen, so whyâs he the one getting pissed now?
âWhat do you want me to say?â Satoruâs voice was calm, looking away from Tojiâs piercing glare. âYou shouldâve just told me to fuck off and stay away, though the latter oneâs not possible because Y/N and I have a child.â Satoru sat up straight, as if getting ready to be kicked out. Tojiâs jaw tightened visibly at the words.
Not because theyâre insulting but because theyâre right.
Thatâs what he wanted to do. He thought that if he couldnât get you away from Satoru then maybe Satoru could just stay away from you. But obviously, it isnât just some responsibility for him. Satoru isnât the type of guy to just send money for his child. Heâs not the type of guy to be just happy that his child knows he exists somewhere.
He wants to be present; to be there for Yui and watch her grow. He wants to be with her but of course, your circumstances wouldnât allow that. Maybe this isnât as easy as Toji thought itâd be and thatâs what makes him mad.Â
âToji, I know weâre not on the best of terms with each other, but what are you trying to get with this?â Toji didnât like how he asked it. It made him sound like a villain and thatâs the last thing he wants.Â
Is he getting so desperate that he allows himself to seem like one? âI agreed to this without knowing what youâre planning to do, Iâm just here to be honest to you. Really.â Satoru wanted to ease the tension between the two of them for your sake.Â
He knows that youâre still very uncomfortable with the two of them being around each other and that youâre also thinking about how to make it better. He thought that this âconversationâ would help.
âDo you really love her? Or did you just learn to love her for your child?â Toji gave his all to sound composed, scratching the edges of his thumb with his index finger. âI donât remember telling myself that I have to love her. I just know that I love her.â Toji could hear his teeth grind against one another; his frustration starting to surface.
âLook, if you want to hear from me that I am not trying to take Y/N away from you then, Iâll just say that.â Toji remained silent, forgetting what this meeting is supposed to be and how itâs supposed to go. Heâs bothered by this ever since he fought with you, but he cannot let that cloud his mind of what he would deem to be right.Â
And obviously, thatâs not whatâs happening right now.
âBut you canât tell me not to love her when even I myself canât control that.â You werenât lying when you said that this man changed a lot. It felt like this is the most mature Tojiâs ever heard him talk.
âTo feel that is one thing but to act upon it is another and I donât plan on doing that.â Satoru wondered if youâve been arguing about this with him, probably why heâs like this. He remembered your problem with him constantly mentioning his wife in whatever you do but after that, you never really told him anything about it anymore.
He didnât try to pry even when it felt like your mind was always somewhere else because he didn't want to seem like heâs taking advantage of the situation.
âWell, itâs good that I donât have to remind you.â Toji murmured, tilting his head as he furrowed his brows. Looking away, he pulled at his collar with his finger. The man in front of him looks nothing like a threat. Yet, he canât find it in him to let it go.
Probably because deep down, he knows that this is not a one sided problem.
âI wonât ask you to stay away from Yui. Iâm a father too. I just needed to hear this all from you, Satoru.â He opened a drawer, taking out a packet of cigarettes before putting one between his lips. The fire from the lighter lit up a portion of his face, inhaling only to let out smoke from one side of his mouth. âWhy?â Satoru asked, leaning back.
âI donât know. So, I could do better I guess?â Toji chuckled, making the other manâs brow bump with each other; not with anger but with an irritating confusion.Just as he was about to ask, Toji answered his question. âWe didnât fight. Thereâs just nothing left to do about it. Guess we gotta put extra effort.âÂ
With that he stood up, signaling that heâs already over this conversation. And Satoru sat there, still in the dark with his intention. Does he have some kind of mic here that recorded what he just said? Satoru doesnât care.Â
What he said was the truth, and it would be too funny to suspect Toji of some kind of evil plan when heâs literally the one who got heated up.
âI hope to work with you better, Satoru. After all, we love the same woman.â With that, he walked to the door to leave but not before Satoru could say a word. âJust take care of her for me. Iâm sure she wants it from you.â It came out softer than he intended to. He looked down at his hands as they played with one another; defeated.
He didnât hear a sigh from Toji. The sound of the door closing was the only signal that he already left. Clicking his tongue, Satoru stood up before running his fingers through his hair. He wonders if itâd be right to ask you about your situation with Toji. He wonders if you also want him to adjust.Â
He wonders if heâs just a nuisance in your life right now. Like how he made you feel before.Â
ââââââââââââââââ
âShe should start when sheâs like four. Or five.â Toji put Yuiâs bag down on the couch as they ran around him. The kids were still not tired enough to calm down after a whole day of swimming. Their cheeks are all red from the sun and you mentally noted to put aloe gel on her face before bed.
âMegumi will start next year?â You asked him, hearing a hum as his gaze followed the two kids who ran to your daughterâs room. ââGumi weâll be going in a few, donât fall asleep!â Toji called to the little boy who only stared at him from a distance before turning away. You felt a pair of hands pull you as Toji sat you on his lap.
âDid you have your own fun too?â He teased, squeezing your thigh as he kissed your cheek. Your mind went back to the other day. It has been a while since the two of you did it due to busy schedules. You admit that you felt like you and Toji are still being extra careful with a few topics but this past few days was a breather.Â
âMhm, definitely did.â You whispered to his lips, feeling his teeth bite your bottom one as he kissed you. You donât know when it started but things started to feel a bit different between you and Toji and you donât know if itâs because heâs starting to drop his worries for you and Satoru or if itâs because heâs just tired of thinking about it.
You were gonna talk to him regarding that but this weekend kind of assured you that itâs all going fine. As for you, youâre trying your best to adjust. You told yourself a thousand times that you had to think about Toji too and not just yourself but for some reason, you still find yourself questioning how you should do some things.Â
Thatâs not a good sign but you thought that maybe you could just take one step at a time. Tojiâs making adjustments for you and you canât just let him do all that work. The only thing youâre fearing is if itâs gonna burn out the two of you sooner or later.
Itâs not that your relationship with him is not sturdy, but itâs still young. There are still so many things that the two of you might go through. Youâre afraid that all of these are just taking a toll on both of you and one blow from a different direction might just take you down immediately if it ever lands.
Toji stayed for about half an hour before calling Megumi who definitely fell asleep on Yuiâs bed. Meanwhile, your little girl was sitting beside her big bear, whining about the burns on her face, begging you to call her Dada.Â
âWeâll just put medicine on it, okay?â She stomped her little legs, pulling at your shirt to pick her up. âItâs because you wonât let me put sunscreen on your face properly earlier.â You clicked your tongue, letting her sob on your shoulder. âDadaâŠâ She wiggled in your arms, a small hand holding her cheek.
âJust give Satoru a call. Or get him to come over. She probably misses him.â Toji picked his son up. The latter option shocked you a bit because you didnât expect him to actually suggest the man heâs so uncomfortable with to come over and be around you. Even if itâs not for you, you still didnât see it coming out of his mouth, especially after all the fights you had.
âTheyâll meet in a day, anyway so itâsââ You started but he cut you off by talking to Yui. âDada will come over, itâs okay. Stop crying.â The toddlerâs cries softened to sniffles as she looked up at him. His hand patted her head, before turning to you to give you a kiss on the forehead. âShe needs him right now. You know how kids are.âÂ
The gesture made you feel a bit sad. Youâre aware that this is not about the two of you but still, you know how he is when it comes to Satoru being with you. âYou shouldnât hold back if thatâs what Yui needs.â You shouldnât hold back if thatâs what you need. He wanted to tell you that as well.
He remembered asking you casually about how you were with Satoru. Of course, you found it weird and got worried. You kept saying things to comfort him to which he quickly reassured you that it wasnât like that.Â
âOf course, I did.â You told him, swirling the liquid inside the sippy cup. You wouldnât look up at him the whole time. You placed it beside the other cup before moving to sit beside him. âWe had a rough time, but it wasnât always like that.â There was a hint of nostalgia in your voice; a mix of melancholia and fondness for the lost time.
âWhy did it become like that?â He leaned on his elbow, fixing the ornaments in front of him. âBecause of the rush, I guess. Bad timing.â You shrugged, drumming your fingers on the marble counter. âWe just became parents. We didnât have time to become lovers.â You chuckled half-heartedly.
âBut I know I did.â So, Satoru wasnât lying when he said you were in love. âHave you ever wondered if⊠if itâs just because of the responsibility that you share?â He prodded further, feeling like he was having the watered-down version of the conversation that he had with Satoru. Something he apologized to him for 2 weeks later.
âProbably at first. All of it is just for Yui. But at some point, I just found myself looking forward to days with him.â You sighed, staring blankly as you probably tried to recall more memories. You quickly looked at Toji, realizing the words that came out of your mouth. Itâs not supposed to be like that. Youâre not supposed to speak like that.
âDid you everââ He began but youâre quick to cut him off, getting more and more worried about his behavior. Youâve been having open talks with each other, deciding that it might help with the crack in your relationship with him but this still makes you feel anxious. Because what if you hurt him again? What if something you say makes it worse?
âAre you alright? You keep asking unusual things.â You jokingly put your hand on his forehead, making him grab your wrist as he pulled you to him. âHey, I was just curious. I want to do better.â He kissed the back of your neck. Itâs true that he wants to do better for you. Hell, he wants to be the best for you.
But sometimes, the best isnât what our heart wants; the perfect isnât what our heart seeks.
âAlright, Iâll try to contact him. I doubt heâd be here, though. Itâs a work day, I donât really want to bother him.â You squeezed his hand reassuringly before walking with him to the door. Megumiâs small arms were wrapped around his neck as he bid you goodbye for the day.Â
You wanted to ask him if itâs really okay with him but you reminded yourself that if itâs for Yui, it doesnât matter if itâs not okay with anyone. âText me when you get home.â You told him after he put Megumi in his seat. âYeah, love you.â He kissed your lips once more before getting in his car and driving away.
You watched his car disappear, rubbing your babyâs back as she started to whine again. âAlright, weâll call him.â You walked back inside, spotting your phone on the coffee table. You kissed Yuiâs cheek as you dialed Satoruâs number. It rang twice before you heard his voice from the other line.
âHey, everything okay?â You ignored the way your heart swelled at how alert he was to your calls. You figured that heâs probably working, "Dada!" Yui called to him, kicking her little feet and making you grab them. You put the phone on speaker "What's wrong, love?" Satoru's voice was full of worry because of how his daughter cried.
"She got sunburnt. She was swimming with Megumi earlier and now it's starting to sting." You pushed her hair back as she tried to take the phone from you. "Are you busy? She keeps asking for you. I didn't want to bother you butâ" Without letting you finish your sentence, you could hear the chair scrape the floor. "Don't think like that. I'm never too busy for Yui."Â
"Would it be⊠Is it ok if I come over? I'll get ointment on the way." You could already hear the car keys and you pictured him walking out of his door and to his car. "Yeah, it's fine. Toji actually suggested that because Yui won't stop crying. Thank you." A small silence can be heard from the other end.
"I'll be there in a few, text me if you need anything else." After that, he lets you hang up the phone, waiting patiently for you say something. "Dada will be there. Stop crying now, you weren't crying earlier." You checked her face, feeling bad that she has to pay for having fun. But you think the blush that it left on her cheeks are cute.
After a little while, a knock on the door pulled you away from your phone. Even though, you already know that it's Satoru, you still peeped through the hole just to make sure. The night his mom stormed in your house and threatened fo take your child away was still vivid. You don't want Yui to see something like that again.Â
"Da!" She immediately cried when she saw him, reaching for her father to take her. "Hey, why? Where's your ouchie?" You saw a couple of bags in his hand as he took the crying child. "I brought you guys something, I thought you might not have had your dinner yet." He sounded shy, taking the smallest bag.
âOh, thank you. You should eat with us, sorry for calling so abruptly. Sheâs being fussy.â You smiled at him, not missing the fond sigh that escaped his lips. âItâs nothing, itâs a win-win situation.â He jokes, tickling the little girlâs belly which caused her to erupt into laughter.Â
âLetâs put this cream on your face so it doesnât hurt, alright?â You watched the two of them sit on your couch and all of a sudden, thatâs the highlight of your day. How he removed his shoes when she asked him to lay down, how he listens to her almost incomprehensible rants, how he gently applied the ointment on her cheeks, producing the most beautiful giggles.
It almost felt like a normal family, resting after a long day of staying out. With her favorite show playing, you watched her look up at her father just to make sure heâs watching the same thing. And heâd go and nod, talking to her like itâs the most serious thing in the world.
âYou should eat with us.â You found yourself saying as you wiped your hand. You reminded yourself to text your boyfriend as you turned away, feeling wrong for how you feel but how can you not feel that way when the scene you used to dream of just came alive in front of you?Â
Maybe youâre just tired. Maybe you just wanted the comfort of your bed. Maybe you just want to not think about it, maybe itâs better to ignore these feelings because there are other things you should be feeling right now. Like wanting to see Toji and be with him. You shook your head, setting up Yuiâs table.Â
And there he comes, with your daughter in his arms, wearing one of the house slippers you left under the couch. âCan I borrow these?â He chuckled and you could feel the stretch on your cheeks from how small they look on him and suddenly, itâs just the three of you again. Eating under the warm kitchen light, talking about your daughter.
Like how you always wanted it to be.
ââââââââââââââââââ
âJust take care of her for me. Iâm sure she wants it from you.â
Toji pursed his lips as Satoru's words reverberated in his head. He knows nothing, he thought, glancjng at you from the mirror. You were busy checking Yui's bag, completely unaware of the thoughts of the man in front of you. Toji has been selfish before. But his head was clear enough to finally judge things with deep consideration to the external factors.
Any man or woman wants nothing but to work things out for their family. But sometimes it just gets too much for them. But for some, they just need time. And he doesn't know how to feel when he thinks about how you and Satoru probably just needed time to fix yourselves as individuals for the relationship to work.
Even though Megumi already understands that his mom will never be home. There are still instances where he would ask Toji about her and by that, he could tell that his son's wishing for her. Whenever you'd do something for him, he would say "Like mom?" and he don't want you to know that not even the smile on your face could ease the searing ache in his chest.
âWhat do you think about getting back together with Satoru?â The question already escaped his lips before he could even think. Your eyes snapped at Toji, looking at him like he just said the most obnoxious thing. You walked to him, stopping his hands to do his tie yourself.Â
âWhy are you suddenly asking about that now?â You counted back to the first time he was talking about you and Satoru.âNothing. I mean, he mentioned that his motherâs never around him anymore. Isnât she like the bane of your relationship with Satoru?â He peered down at you, curious as to how youâd react.
Toji didnât mean to ask it so abruptly, but he knows that he has to talk about it sooner or later. He knows that the both of you are trying and your relationship shouldnât be this hard if only adjusting comes so naturally.Â
He knows that you put in a lot of effort just so he wouldnât feel insecure and overthink. He also knows that sometimes it just shows, youâre probably just denying that to yourself. Heâs also too aware of how the both of you would tread carefully around the topic of his wife.Â
âI donât want you to feel like you canât miss her or talk about the things she does.â You told him that once but still, Toji canât help but feel bad when those days come and he knows that heâs not giving his full attention and mind to you.
âIâm literally in a relationship with you, stop asking if Iââ You tried to chuckled it off, brushing the palm of your hands on his chest to straighten the fabric but Toji caught them. âWhat if this isnât working?â He sighed, squeezing your hand as if it will lessen the weight of his words.
You donât know if youâre hurt that he probably wants to end it or if youâre hurt that thereâs a hint of truth behind his words. âWhat are you saying?â As if suddenly coming back down to reality, Toji shook his head and pulled you close. âI think I woke up too early, come here. Sorry about that.â He kissed your forehead but didnât take away your worried face.
âToji you canât just say that and expect me not to overthink.â You donât know if youâve prepared yourself enough for this possibility. It would hurt you if youâll lose such a good man in your life. âIâmâŠI donât know if I still feel comfortable, or if Iâm just getting used to it Y/N. I know you try, you do it so well, baby but,â He took a deep breath, pausing.
âI donât think I can continue like this. I donât think we should continue like this.âÂ

Benâs âdeathâ fucking destroyed me because everything about it was so heart breaking and perfect. Him possessing Klaus then getting to hug and say hi to Diego?? All of season one him getting mad at Klaus for wasting his life?? All of that then him giving up his to save his sister. All for love. And then making damn well sure Klaus knew it wasnât his fault he stayed so long.
In conclusion I love Ben Hargreaves with all my heart and soul.

I devoured this story.
It became one of my favorites here.
Everything is so amazingly written and makes you feel so much emotions đđđ
Can't wait to read the rest of this beautiful story that broke my heart with the "we have something beautiful here, but I have to go home soon and I can't continue what we have" plot đđđ
After a recent breakup, you decide that you still want to join your townâs Christmas Competition - and are encouraged by friends to ask your brooding coworker to be your partner.Â
Unwilling to get too close and let your feelings for the man ruin your new friendship, you attempt to keep your distance. But heâs also keeping his distance - and maybe even throwing the competition to an extent - to protect a secret of his own.Â
This is pure Hallmark cheese, but just to cover my bases:

Night has fallen over the city. Thereâs a calmness to the air that makes you softly smile as you wait for your husband to finish washing up. You pass the time by reading a book in bed, ready to turn in for the evening soon.Â
The chapter youâre currently on has you completely absorbed that you donât hear the water in the shower shutting off or notice a shirtless Marc entering the room a short while later. Itâs only when he snatches the book out of your grasp and sets it on the nightstand do you finally acknowledge him.
âBabe, I wasnât done with that,â you huff as Marc crawls onto the bed, settling between your legs and wrapping his arms around your waist. âAlthough, I guess it could probably waitâŠâ
âMhmmâŠâ he hums in response, gazing up at you sweetly that it made you forget what youâve read in the last fifteen minutes. âHi, baby.â
âHello to you, too,â you reply as Marc nuzzles his head in your stomach as if youâre a pillow. You feel him breathing in the scent of you, savoring the warmth of your body against his.Â
Smiling, you thread your fingers through Marcâs dark, damp hair. âYour hair is really soft after you wash it.â
âThank you,â he mumbles into you, voice thick with exhaustion. âI used your conditioner.â
You lightly chuckle as you twirl each silky curl around your finger. âI know. Iâve been smelling it for weeks now.â
âItâs a really good conditioner. Smells like strawberries, too.â
âIt surely does,â you agree, gently drifting your nails through his locks. You then move your fingertips in circular motions on his scalp before moving to his temples, drawing out soft blissful groans from his parted lips. His breaths come out slow and even against your skin, and itâs quiet and peaceful and relaxingâ
Then, Marc starts to snore softly, and you hold back the giggle trying to escape your lips, afraid that itâll wake him from his slumber. Even though youâre beginning to feel pins and needles from where most of his weight is resting on you, you donât have the heart to disturb him.
Itâs rare seeing Marc this way. The usual deep furrow of his forehead and worry lines creasing his face is all gone, serenity now painting over his features. He melts into your hold; finds safety and comfort in the way a home does. Because thatâs what you truly are to himâ his home, his everything.
You take it all in, embrace the simple delicateness of this moment and let it etch itself into your memory for an eternity.Â
Nights like this remind you of your abundance of love for him. And as you carefully brush Marcâs hair away from his forehead to press a kiss there, you wonder how life could be any more beautiful than this.
âšÂ send me an ask with a sentence + a character and iâll write the next five âš
