Your boyfriend came back home, pissed. 

He lost a match. You knew he wanted to be alone, but you just wanted to check up on him. You quietly made your way downstairs to the living area. 

You peaked inside to see rin sitting on the couch, arms around a pillow while he watched his game over and over again. 

“Hi.. baby, i know you probably want to be left alone but i’m worried. You haven’t ate anything all day..” you said softly, standing beside him. 

He looked up at you, jaw ticking, before he looked back at the screen. 

“Not hungry” he said, hoping you’d leave. 

“I know, but I cooked your favorite food to cheer you up,” you said softly, looking at the ground.

“Yn. i’m not hungry.” More bite was behind his words this time. 

“But rin-”

“I SAID I’M NOT FUCKING HUNGRY, JUST STOP!” he yelled, throwing the pillow and standing up. Towering over you. His fists clenched. 

You stepped back, eyes wide as you stared at him in shock? Fear? It took him a second to realize what he just did. 

Your lips trembled, staring at the man you thought you knew. Your eyes burned as tears brimmed your waterline. 

“Fuck. baby, i didn’t-”

“It’s fine.” you said quietly, your voice breaking as you walked away from him. It felt like someone was squeezing the life out of your heart; your chest tightened as you ran upstairs, running to the bathroom. You hear footsteps behind you, Rin quickly follows after, knocking on the bathroom. 

“y/n, listen to me. I’m so sorry, i didn’t mean to yell at you. I swear” he said, his voice coming out soft like he didn’t want to scare you.

“Can you just come out, can we talk, please?” You wanted to speak, but no words came out. You covered your mouth with your hand, warm tears dripping down your face, as you silenced your cries. He internally beat himself up. what was he thinking, taking his anger out on you when you did nothing but want to make him feel better?

“Go away..” it was nothing more than a whisper but rin knew he fucked up.

You know what I just realized… if the Dabi Todoroki theory is true… then Dabi is the only child who got ALL of Endeavor’s looks. He got the red hair, the eyes, the quirk- everything. He looked like Endeavor the most out of all the kids- even Shouto.

And yeah that’s obvious lol but like,,, imagine what that must mean for his relationship with his mom.

Imagine how hard it must have been for her to be in the same room as the kid who looks like Endeavor, How fear must have entered her eyes for a split second every time she saw him. And as she grew worse she probably couldn’t even stand to look at him or be in the same room, and the older he got the more he looked like Endeavor, and he probably noticed.

How could you NOT notice, and at first he must have been so confused, scared he did something wrong, and goes out of his way to try and make it right, only to notice it’s getting worse.

Imagine the crushing realization he must of had when he realized his mother didn’t like him, that his mother was scared of him.

We know she was close to Shouto, and even tho we don’t know her relationship with the other kids I would assume that she would be closer to the ones who didn’t remind her of Endeavor.

And a little kid would notice that.

What if he grew to hate his looks. The looks that made his mother hate him.

And that’s what made him change his hair color and scar his face and body.

As to not be reminded of the fear in his mother’s eyes every time he looked in a mirror…

It’s just a theory ofc but like, if Dabi is a Todoroki his relationship with his mom would be VERY strained.

So basically everyone we've seen around piltover and zaun talks with an American accent, right? If I remember correctly. But not Viktor. He has a... Russian accent? I think? But his backstory is pretty clear about growing up in the undercity. So... Were his parents migrants? Did they move to piltover hoping for a better life, but ended up in the undercity? Did they die of the same illness he has? Did they die disappointed?

! I made an interesting realization just now in the shower! On a couple of occasions, Eragon and Nasuada suggest that Murtagh should act in the way Tornac would have as a way to change for the better and, ultimately, change his true name to free himself from Galbatorix and fight for them instead. Eragon insinuates this without directly mentioning Tornac: "Look at someone whom you admire but who has chosen paths other than your own through life and model your actions upon his." But in the context of Murtagh's backstory, this advice strongly evokes Tornac. And Nasuada outright names him: "Ask yourself: what would Tornac have wanted you to do?"

But that's a very curious demand for them to make because Murtagh is already emulating Tornac. Consider what we know about him. Tornac served Galbatorix, he would have had to for the king to entrust him with Murtagh's care. They lived in Uru'baen together as Murtagh grew up with Tornac raising him and he would have had to be in Galbatorix's service for all that time. Yet, he had no love for the king given that, when Murtagh wanted to abandon the Empire and flee, he was immediately ready to join him and help him leave that very same night. So he served the Empire for many years even though he had no true desire to be support them or the king, in order to provide the care and protection that Murtagh needed, until Murtagh was ready to make his own choice and take his own risk and Tornac turned his back on the king for him without hesitation.

That's exactly what Murtagh is doing. By yielding to Galbatorix and complying with his commands, Murtagh is doing the same thing for Thorn. He's bowed to this broad, great evil so he can look after the needs of an individual when no one else is willing nor able to. He does what he does to prevent Thorn from being tortured, to keep him from being broken, helpless against the king were Murtagh to abandon him. So he doesn't, the same way Tornac never abandoned him. And in the end, they rebel in a very similar way too. When Thorn is ready to carve his own path and fight for the right to claim his own life for the first time, and Murtagh wants to reclaim the life he desired but thought lost, they stand by each other and break free from Galbatorix.

For him to act the way that Tornac would requires that period of reluctant subservience so he can save the one he loves most. They ask Murtagh to follow Tornac's example, ignorant to the fact that the actions they so disapprove of are doing exactly that. And I wonder if this is a root of Murtagh's defining anger, an anger at Eragon and Nasuada's implication that the compromises that saved his own life and provided him much needed love and support through his childhood- the compromises that saved Thorn, the partner of his heart, when no one else (certainly no one from the Varden) would have helped him- were wrong. That they were immoral, they were not worth while, they were not enough, they fell short, they were wrong. Because such an implication is really a dismissal of Murtagh and Thorn's wellbeing- arguably of their lives.
