My secret is that I love physical media. My aunt gave me a big box of movies she didn’t want and I felt like a kid on Christmas.

They actually make physical media for a much larger percentage of movies than they ever did in the past. Often with a lot more care than any small release was treated in the early dvd days. Its just if you only watch streaming stuff or the big new recent box office hits you won't see that. It is so ridiculously easy to get physical media for movies that even 5 years ago you couldn't even find. Like yes Netflix is a stingy bastard but so many things are available on disc WITH special features than ever before

I used to fall for this trap like, a stupid amount. I was so worried about being repetitive in my writing I forgot to make it easy to comprehend. And the more I thought about it the more I realized that I never noticed when writers only used a characters name unless I was actively looking for it.

The POV thing is such a great way to put it and it really helps you to immerse yourself in the world of the character. Plus, if a character is mentally referring to someone as “the doctor” you can have a fun moment with the shift from using that to their actual name when the MC finally learns what it is.

using a descriptive pronoun ("the doctor" referring to a doctor who has already been named, "the brunette" referring to a brunette who had already been named) is simply bad writing. it creates a momentary rift in reader comprehension and does not help the story in any capacity. don't do it

I am frothing at the mouth to see the rest of this scene! It is so so fun to get to see Alastor and Charlie have what feels like their first real conversation. Also Alastor sort of letting his guard down? Just that moment of “you don’t know what I’m thinking or how I feel because I keep my guard up” was so so fun to see. Also he’s soooo about to tell her about Carmilla which I think is so interesting. Cause like, sure, it could just be to spice things up and see what Charlie does with this information. But it could also be because he wants to help her. Like a lot of what he says to her feels like his form of a peptalk, even if he is being an ass about it. I’ll be really curious to see how it all plays out when the episode drops.

1. You probably dont suck at your craft as much as you think you do, I bet a lot of people are amazed at what you can make, and

2. If you actually are the Literal Worst In The Whole Wide World at your craft... who the fuck cares? What are they gonna do, call the police on you? Keep making your shitty little things, youre the boss of you, fuck the haters.
