โ Auroraโs first word is โMama,โ but she says it while looking at youโEllie is fake-offended for weeks.
โ She has Ellieโs intense green eyes and habit of staring too long when sheโs curious.
โ Aurora clings to you constantly; even as a toddler, she whines when someone else holds her.
โ Ellie builds her a mini bookcase for baby board booksโand Aurora immediately organizes them alphabetically (with help).
โ Aurora is the kind of baby who needs a strict routineโif youโre even five minutes late for nap or cuddle time, she notices.
โ She hates when you leave the room. Ellie jokes that youโve got two wives now.
โ She calls Ellie โMamaโ and you โMommy,โ but if youโre upset or sick, she calls both of you โMommyโ in solidarity.
โ Aurora shows signs of hyper-intelligence early: solving puzzles meant for kids twice her age.
โ She loves bedtime stories but gets frustrated when you skip a wordโsheโs memorized the entire book.
โ Ellie reads her scientific journals out loud like bedtime stories, and Aurora actually listens.
โ She mimics Ellieโs mannerismsโcrossing her arms, frowning when she concentrates, pacing.
โ You catch her โlecturingโ her stuffed animals in Ellieโs exact voice.
โ Aurora draws family portraits every weekโand youโre always in the center.
โ She panics if youโre not there to drop her off or pick her up.
โ Ellie tries to be logical about it but secretly loves how attached Aurora is to you.
โ Aurora shows early signs of perfectionismโshe erases drawings over and over if theyโre โnot good enough.โ
โ When she throws tantrums, only your voice calms her down. Ellie has to tag you in.
โ Aurora is incredibly picky about her routineโshe wants the same food in the same bowl with the same spoon.
โ Her favorite word is โactually,โ and she uses it to correct adults constantly.
โ She collects facts like trophiesโEllie makes her flashcards and they study together for fun.
โ Aurora tests into the gifted program in her first year of school.
โ She doesnโt like group projectsโshe prefers doing everything herself because โno one gets it right.โ
โ Teachers say sheโs โbrilliant, but intense.โ
โ Aurora only talks about two things at school: science and you.
โ She makes laminated labels for her school supplies like Ellie does with her stationary.
โ Every art project is somehow about youโshe brings home a clay mug with โMommy #1โ carved into it.
โ She corrects her teacher once in class and becomes slightly feared. Ellie is so proud but warns her to โmaybe chill a little next time, baby.โ
โ Aurora wants to skip recess so she can stay in and read.
โ She keeps a picture of you in her backpackโpulls it out when she gets anxious.
โ Ellie and Aurora have โstudy nightsโ where they work quietly side by sideโsame posture, same concentration.
โ Aurora watches you cook and scribbles notes like itโs a culinary lecture.
โ She insists on helping you clean the house but gets mad if things arenโt organized to her standard.
โ You call her your โtiny professorโ and she beams every time.
โ Aurora and Ellie both hover when youโre tired or sickโlike youโre the sun and theyโve lost orbit.
โ They fight over who gets to sit next to you on the couch.
โ Ellie gets petty when Aurora gets more cuddles. Aurora gets smug.
โ Aurora likes brushing your hairโshe does it methodically, like a ritual.
โ She sleeps best when curled up beside you, even at age 7.
โ She draws up โmom schedulesโ to divide your attention fairlyโEllie cheats her way into extra time.
โ Aurora reads scientific textbooks for fun.
โ Ellie teaches her how to use a microscope at age 6.
โ She becomes obsessed with astronomy after you buy her a star chart.
โ Aurora cries when she gets a 98 instead of 100.
โ Ellie talks her down using logic. You soothe her with affection.
โ She keeps a journal with facts about her โfavorite personโ (you).
โ Aurora canโt stand when someone is wrongโshe has a meltdown if the teacher mispronounces a word.
โ She gives book reports like sheโs defending a thesis.
โ Her handwriting is meticulous, just like Ellieโs.
โ She wins her schoolโs spelling bee and dedicates the win โto my mommies.โ
โ Aurora doesnโt handle change wellโmoving a couch makes her cry.
โ Youโre the only one who can help her calm down when she spirals.
โ She leaves sticky notes with โI love youโ on your bathroom mirror.
โ Ellie keeps a stash of emergency snacks and plushies for when Aurora gets overstimulated.
โ Aurora talks to you about everythingโeven stuff she hides from Ellie.
โ She always wants to know where you areโcalls you if youโre late home.
โ If you travel, she leaves voice memos asking when youโre coming back.
โ Aurora once stayed up crying because she thought you wouldnโt love her if she failed at something. You reassure her constantly, even years later.
โ Ellie hugs you tighter at night after watching how much both of you mean to each other.
โ Aurora and Ellie gang up on you in debatesโbut itโs always playful.
โ They both get quiet when they think youโre upsetโlike they canโt stand disappointing you.
โ Aurora wears a matching lab coat on Ellieโs โbring your kid to workโ day.
โ She calls the three of you โthe brain squad.โ
โ Your fridge is full of Auroraโs detailed school projectsโEllie annotates them like a proud academic.
โ Aurora copies how Ellie kisses your temple when youโre working.
โ They both wait up for you if youโre lateโeven if itโs past bedtime.
โ When Aurora gets awards, youโre the first person she looks for in the crowd.
โ Family movie night has to be educational and cozy or she gets annoyed.
โ You are the center of their universeโboth of them would burn the world for you without hesitation.

Ellie sat across you, as you took the blunt between your fingers. You brought it up to your lips, as you took a deep breathe. As you breathed in, you closed your eyes as the smoke filled your lungs. Slowly breathing out, you already started to feel fuzzy.
It was Ellie's favorite time of the day. It was night time. There was barley any light in the room where you and Ellie sat- it was only the moonlight shining in from the windows.
Ellie couldn't help but to stare at you in awe. Your lips slightly swollen, you eyes closed, head thrown back- and the moonlight shining across your features made it 10 times better.
You were dressed up. Wearing a blue flowy summer dress. You had planned on going out that night, but then Ellie showed up and begged you to go smoking with her, and you said yes because who wouldn't? its Ellie fucking Williams.
You being dressed up, and under the moonlight, had Ellie going feral. She wanted nothing more but to get up and rip your clothes off of you. But she didn't. She couldn't. Because you weren't hers.
You suddenly opened your eyes, and Ellie started blushing- in fear that you might have caught her staring. You sat up slightly giving her the blunt.
"here" you said softly and Ellie just knew by the sound of your voice you were higher than a kite.
It was moments like these where Ellie fell more and more in love with you. The two of you, alone. Doing one of her favorite activities- smoking.
Ellie loved getting high with you. Hell, you were a drug to her, so you and weed together fucked her up even more. She wished you were hers. Her girl. Her lover. She wished she could get high with you all the time.
She wished she could get high with her lover, who isn't her lover. Yet.

You laid on the sofa across from Ellie, you legs sprawled out in front of you. Your dress was riding up your thighs as you kept moving and Ellie felt like she was going to explode by the sight. Your eyes were still closed, your head still thrown back.
'fuck me' me ellie said out loud.
'mhm' you questioned, opening one eye to look at her. You were so fucking high. It felt like you were floating. You heard Ellie mumble something and it brought you back to earth.
'n-n-nothing' Ellie said quickly.
Ellie never stutters you thought to yourself, but you assumed because she was just as fucking high as you were.
'c'mon hurry up' you said motioning at the blunt Ellie was holding.
'oh yeah' she said as if she forgot that she was smoking.
Truth be told she did. You fuck up her mind. You make her nervous. You make her forget things.
She quickly gave you the blunt and once again you took it between your lips and closed your eyes in pleasure. Ellie wondered if you were doing this on purpose. Teasing her. Taunting her.
Smoke filled the room as you breathed out and Ellie was staring once again. eyes trailing your body. She took the blunt from your hand, your fingers brushing slightly and she felt a jolt of electricity go up her spine at the touch. Before she could put the blunt into her mouth, to try and shake off these thoughts she was having of you, you reached down into your bag to grab a tube of lip gloss. Ellie watched you carefully, as you laid back down. You opened the lip gloss, and applied it to your lips.
Ellie wanted nothing more but to lean over and kiss you. You felt her eyes burning holes into your head, you turned to her she looked away immediately. You put the lip gloss down, closed your eyes and you let out a soft 'hurry up'.
Ellie was fucked. She was turned on. She was in love. She was obsessed. She was high. She didn't know what to do.
There you were laying across from her. Exposed thighs, glossed lips, eyes closed, head thrown back. 'Fuckmefuckmefuckme' she thought over and over again.
She decided there and then she was never getting high with you again. (she knew she would invite you again)

She could already imagine it. Coming home after patrol you being there waiting for her. Maybe in the kitchen cooking for her, wearing no panties. Maybe shed walk in on you waiting for her on the bed. She imagines coming home to you already licking the sides of the blunt, handing one to her as the two of you smoked in your home.
Her dreams could become a reality if she wasn't such a fucking pussy. Ellie would never admit it to anyone but you were her safe heaven. Over the years of knowing you, you somehow became her comfort. After hard days of patrol she'd always go visit you and her mood changes instantly. Apart from all her dirty thoughts Ellie wanted nothing more but to come home to you, and to comforted by you. To be held. To be babied.
The world you lived in was hell. It was darkness, but you were her light and you didn't even know. She felt free with you. She felt safe. If she could she would escape from this world. And she would take you with her.

As the night went on the two of you got higher and higher.
You were asleep. The moonlight looming over your features and Ellie just admired you. She loved the moon. She loved you. She loved you to the moon and back. She always wanted to be an astronaut when she was younger. She wanted to go to the moon and she wanted to take you with her. (She assumed there would be no infected on the moon) She laid on her side watching you as you slept. She silently thanked the moonlight from making you look even more angelic than you already were. She took one last puff before the blunt was finished and when she was done with it she discarded it somewhere on the table and she looked at you. There was nothing she wouldn't do for you. Getting high with you was the best decision she ever made.
She watched as you were sleeping, your chest rising slowly, your thighs still on display. You were going to be hers. She will make sure of it. Nothing and no one was going to stop her. She was going to make you her lover.
And she just did just that. A few days later the two of you were in the room cuddling and getting fucked up together.
Ellies dreams finally became a reality. She was getting high with her lover.

part 1
โ Ellieโs confession wasnโt a soft one. It was raw. Blurted out late one night when it was just the two of you on the porch, sitting too close. Her voice trembled but her eyes never left yours.
โ โI like you,โ she said, almost angry about it, like it was your fault. โIโve liked you for a long time.โ
โ You froze. Not because you didnโt like her backโbut because you did, and that scared the hell out of you.
โ The next day, you avoided her. No text replies, no opening the door when she knocked, no hanging around when your brother invited her over.
โ Ellie noticed instantly. Her texts got more frequent. Shorter. More frantic. โDid I fuck up?โ โPlease talk to me.โ
โ When you left a group hang early, she stared after you the whole time. She didnโt even say goodbye.
โ Ellie didnโt sleep much that first week. She laid awake, staring at the ceiling, wondering how she misread things.
โ She started watching your house. Just sitting in her truck a few houses down at night. Waiting to see your light go off.
โ She played songs she knew you liked in your brother's room, loud enough for you to hear through the shared wall. Hoping youโd listen. Hoping youโd knock.
โ You didnโt. It made her worse.
โ She started keeping things you left behindโa hoodie, a pen, a lip balmโand holding them like they were sacred.
โ Ellie got moodier. Snappier with your brother. She barely made eye contact with him, but she was always asking where you were.
โ You caught her looking at you from the edge of the hallway once. Her eyes were glassy. She didnโt speak.
โ Her drawings? All turned into versions of you. Your hands, your mouth, your hair, the sad curve of your shoulder.
โ She stopped hiding it. Started wearing her obsession like a badge, because if she couldn't have youโshe needed to remember every inch of you.
โ Ellie started showing up everywhere you went. Coincidence at firstโuntil it wasnโt.
โ Grocery store? She was there by the lemons, asking if you still liked green apples.
โ Coffee shop? She was sitting at the back, watching you sip your drink, fingers tight on her cup.
โ She wouldnโt talk to you directly. Justโฆ look. Let the air buzz.
โ Your friends noticed. One asked, โIs she stalking you?โ You didnโt answer. You werenโt sure.
โ Ellie started writing about you in her journalโparagraphs of frustration, lust, guilt, rage, and helpless longing.
โ She imagined what your skin would taste like if youโd let her kiss you.
โ She imagined saying your name and hearing you moan hers back.
โ Every sketch was darker, more desperate. You with tear tracks, with your lip between your teeth, with bruises she imagined leaving.
โ Her mind spiraled. She thought maybe you were rejecting her on purpose. Punishing her.
โ She started dreaming about you. Wake-up-sweating, breathing-hard dreams.
โ When your brother invited her over again, Ellie scanned the room like a wolf. You werenโt there. Again.
โ โSheโs been busy,โ your brother offered casually. Ellie didnโt respond. Her jaw clenched.
โ The silence became unbearable. You missed her. Wanted her. But you couldnโt act on itโnot with your brother. Not with the mess.
โ But Ellie was done waiting.
โ She showed up at your place with a book she claimed you left behind. You didnโt. She just needed an excuse.
โ You opened the door an inch. Tried to keep it cold. But your eyes gave you away. You still wanted her.
โ Ellie stared at your lips the entire conversation. All two minutes of it.
โ When you shut the door, she stood there for five more minutes. Breathing. Shaking.
โ That was the night she made a decision: sheโd make you tell her the truthโeven if she had to corner you for it.
โ You were coming back from class when you felt itโthat prickle on your neck. The instinct. Someone watching.
โ You turned and there she was. Hoodie, jaw set, standing at the mouth of the hallway.
โ You tried to walk past her. She stepped in front of you.
โ โWhy are you avoiding me?โ she asked, voice low, clipped.
โ โEllie, pleaseโโ you said, but your voice cracked.
โ She moved closer. โNo. You donโt get to run anymore.โ
โ You backed up, heart pounding, until your spine hit the cold concrete wall. Nowhere to go.
โ โDid I scare you?โ she whispered. โIs that it?โ
โ โNo,โ you whispered. โYou didnโt.โ
โ Her hands hit the wall on either side of your head. Trapped. Her face inches from yours.
โ โThen what?โ Her voice broke. โYou didnโt even give me a chance.โ
โ Her eyes were red-rimmed. Wild. โI tell you Iโm in love with you and you disappear?โ
โ โEllie, Iโm scared,โ you admitted. โYouโre my brotherโs best friend. If something happens, itโll ruin everything.โ
โ โSomething already happened,โ she growled. โYou ruined me the second you stopped talking to me.โ
โ Your breath hitched. Her lips brushed your cheek. โI dream about you,โ she whispered. โEvery fucking night.โ
โ โEllieโฆโ Your voice was soft, needy.
โ She tilted your chin up. โSay you donโt want me. Say it and Iโll leave you alone.โ
โ You couldnโt. You didnโt. Your mouth partedโbut no words came.
โ And thenโher lips crashed into yours.
โ It was messy, all teeth and tongue and heat. Weeks of tension unraveling in one kiss that felt like it might end the world.
โ Your hands gripped her hoodie like a lifeline, pulling her tighter, closer, until you couldnโt breathe.
โ She kissed like she hated you for making her wait. Like she needed to memorize you.
โ You whimpered into her mouth and she swore she almost lost it. Her hands fisted in your shirt.
โ Her leg slipped between yours. She swallowed every sound you made.
โ When she finally pulled back, you both were panting. Her forehead pressed to yours.
โ โFuck,โ she breathed. โIโve wanted to do that since I was seventeen.โ
โ โIโm sorry,โ you whispered. โI didnโt know how to handle it.โ
โ โYou donโt have to,โ she said. โJust donโt run. Please.โ
โ Her fingers traced your jaw. โI meant what I said. I like you. Iโm not walking away.โ
โ โEven if my brother finds out?โ
โ โLet him,โ she said, voice thick. โIโll fight him if I have to.โ
โ You laughed softly, and Ellie smiled like she hadnโt in weeks.
โ โSoโฆ what now?โ you asked, breathless.
โ She swallowed, eyes dark, voice hoarse: โGo out with me. Tonight. Tomorrow. Every day after that. Be mine.โ
โ You kissed her again. And this time, it wasnโt desperateโit was a yes.
Are you okay?

This story contains dark and emotionally intense themesโplease read with care. You are responsible for what you consume online. Please read the warnings before reading.
You moved into the safe zone two months ago. Quiet, kind, polite. You kept to yourself, helped at the medical tent, smiled when people passed. Ellie noticed you right away.
Not because you stood outโat least not to most. But Ellie saw the way your hands trembled slightly when you stitched a wound. How your eyes scanned the environment like you were waiting for someone to come back. Or leave.
She liked that.
She liked the way your window lit up at night, a soft amber glow behind sheer curtains. You read. Sometimes you cried. Once, you laughedโjust onceโand she pressed her forehead against her window across the alley and watched your lips form around a sentence. She imagined you reading to her. Her name in your mouth. Her name in your bed.
She told herself she was just watching. But then it became routine.
She started to learn the rhythm of your days. When you left. What time you came back. What you wore. What you ate. The exact second you turned off your lamp and slid under the covers. Sheโd stand in the shadows across the street, chewing on the skin of her thumb, eyes locked on that sliver of light between your curtains.
Ellie didnโt smile much anymore. Not unless she thought of you. And even then, it wasnโt a smile. It was something darkerโsharper. Something that clenched her stomach like a fist and made her palms itch.
She wasnโt supposed to feel this way. You werenโt hers. But that didnโt stop her.
You first met her when she came in with a deep cut on her forearm. Self-stitched, jagged. Her expression unreadable.
โYou shouldโve come in earlier,โ you told her, gently cleaning the wound. โThis couldโve gotten infected.โ
She just stared. โDidnโt want to waste your time.โ
You paused. โYou knew it would be me?โ
Her jaw flexed. โYeah.โ
You smiled. Ellie didnโt.
But later that night, she traced the shape of your smile in the fogged glass of her bedroom window. Over and over until her finger bled from the cold.
Ellie started showing up more. Dropping off supplies. Asking if you needed help moving crates. Pretending to look for something just outside your tent.
โI heard you play guitar,โ you said once, handing her a bandage kit. โDo you still?โ
โOnly in my head.โ
You wanted to ask what that meant. But her eyes were dark that day. Watching you like she already had the answer.
You didnโt know she was in your hallway the night you cried into your pillow. That she sat just outside your door, back against the wood, fists clenched, listening.
You didnโt know she stole one of your gloves when it dropped outside the infirmary. That she kept it in her jacket pocket. That she touched it every time someone else looked at you too long.
You didnโt know you were the reason someone disappeared.
That guyโtall, arrogant, always flirtingโhe hadnโt shown up in over a week. No one knew where he went. Ellie did.
She watched him follow you to your door one night. Heard you laugh nervously when he touched your arm. Saw the way you recoiled when he leaned in too close.
Ellie followed him into the woods the next day. Said nothing. Did what she had to.
For you.
One night, you came home late. The infirmary was overwhelmed. Blood on your shirt. You were tired, broken, still so beautiful. Ellie watched you through the crack in your curtain.
She saw you undress.
Saw your bare skin in that soft yellow light. Saw you pause in front of the mirror, fingertips grazing your ribs like you didnโt recognize yourself.
Ellieโs breath hitched. Her hand trembled. She pressed it to the windowpane like she could reach through.
You looked sad. You looked lonely. You looked like you needed someone.
Her.
The first time you saw her watching, it wasnโt on purpose.
You pulled your curtain aside to close the window and there she wasโacross the alley, standing in the dark. Still. Unmoving. Eyes glowing faintly under the porch light.
You froze. She didnโt.
She just tilted her head. Slowly. Like a predator curious if its prey would run.
You didnโt.
You closed the curtain. Heart pounding. Skin hot. You shouldโve been afraid.
But you werenโt.
Ellie showed up the next morning like nothing happened. Gave you a thermos of coffee. Smiledโfor the first time. You stared at her fingers as they brushed yours. Cold. Calloused. Familiar. You let her in that day.
She sat in your chair. Looked at your books. Touched the necklace on your shelf like she already knew its weight.
โYouโve been watching me,โ you said, not a question.
Ellie blinked. โYeah.โ
You swallowed. โWhy?โ
She stood up. Walked toward you. Stopped just short of touching.
โBecause I love you.โ
You shouldโve laughed. Shouldโve run. Shouldโve screamed.
But all you said was: โSince when?โ
Ellieโs voice dropped. โSince the first time you turned on that fucking light.โ
You kissed her. You didnโt mean to. Or maybe you did. Maybe you were just as broken.
It was desperate. All teeth and breath and guilt. She gripped your waist like she was afraid youโd disappear. You gripped her jaw like you wanted to know her shape from the inside out.
It wasnโt soft. It wasnโt sweet.
It was dangerous. But it felt like breathing after drowning.
Now sheโs in your bed almost every night.
She never stays till morning. Always slips out before the sun rises, back to her shadows, back to her window.nBut her scent lingers on your sheets.
And when you close your eyes, you feel her watching.
And when you open them, sheโs there. She always is.
The first time you tried to distance yourself, Ellie didnโt speak.
You had turned to her in bed, barely whispering, โI think I need space.โ
Your voice cracked. You hated how small it sounded.
Ellie didnโt flinch. Didnโt argue. Just nodded. Kissed your shoulder and slipped out like always. But that night, your window stayed open.
She didnโt watch you through it. She was already inside.
She started leaving things in your house. Quietly, deliberately. A book you mentioned onceโresting on your nightstand. Her hoodie folded on the arm of your couch. A note in your handwriting that you didnโt remember writing.
โYou miss me.โ
You found it under your pillow.
Your hands trembled as you stared at it. You told yourself you were imagining things. You told yourself it was just coincidence. You told yourself Ellie wouldn't do that.
But deep down, you knew better.
People started asking if you and Ellie were together. You always paused too long before answering. Smiled too tightly. Said, โItโs complicated.โ
Ellie never used that word. She said, โSheโs mine.โ
She wasnโt just watching anymore.
She was following.
Youโd leave work and catch a flicker of her hoodie in the crowd. Youโd step outside at night and feel her behind you. Youโd dream of her fingers wrapped around your wrist, yanking you back into her.
One night, you turned the corner too fast and slammed into her chest. She didnโt apologize.
Her hands gripped your arms.
โI didnโt know you wereโโ you started.
โYes, you did,โ she said. Her voice was a blade.
You didnโt move. Neither did she.
The tension curled around your throat like smoke. You wanted to run. You wanted to stay. You wanted her to tear you apart.
Inside her mind, it only made sense:
She knew what you liked. What you feared. What you needed.
She could protect you. She could fix the ache inside your chest.
You just had to stop pretending you didnโt feel it too.
You were hers. You just didnโt understand it yet.
Ellie started keeping a journal. It wasnโt full of words. Just drawings.
Of you.
Sleeping. Smiling. Naked. Crying.
Sometimes sheโd draw herself with youโyour hand in hers, your head on her chest. But always, always, your eyes were closed.
She liked it better that way.
When another woman tried to flirt with you at the market, Ellie was there before you could even react. Just a shadow beside your shoulder.
โSheโs not interested,โ Ellie said, low and cold.
You touched her wrist. โEllie, stopโโ
The woman blinked at her. โIโm sorry, I didnโt meanโโ
Ellie didnโt respond. Just stared. Long enough to make her leave. Long enough to make her afraid.
Later, Ellie brushed your hair off your cheek and whispered, โYou donโt need anyone else.โ
You didnโt answer. Because part of you agreed.
You started hearing her voice even when she wasnโt there.
Soft murmurs at the edge of your consciousness. A whisper behind your ear.
โYouโre mine.โ
You looked over your shoulder constantly. Not because you were scared. But because you hoped it was her.
One night, you confronted her. โAre you watching me when I sleep?โ
Ellie didnโt lie.
โYes.โ
Your throat tightened. โWhy?โ
She stepped forward. Her hands cradled your jaw like you were something fragileโsomething sacred.
โBecause itโs the only time youโre honest.โ
You shuddered. โThatโs not love.โ
Ellieโs eyes flashed. โNo. Itโs more than that.โ
She started sleeping on your floor.
Didnโt ask. Just curled up on the rug like a stray wolf. Eyes closed, but never fully asleep. You stepped over her on the way to the bathroom and felt her fingers brush your ankle.
You didnโt stop her. You didnโt speak.
You just left the door unlocked. Every night.
Eventually, your light never turned off.
You didnโt pull the curtains anymore. You let her see.
Because pretending you werenโt hers felt worse than giving in.
And the worst part? You started watching her too.
You counted her steps. You tracked her breath.
You studied the scars on her knuckles and the cracks in her voice when she said your name.
You wanted her under your skin, even when it hurt. Especially when it hurt.
It wasnโt love. It wasnโt sane. It wasnโt safe.
But it was real.
And in this world, that was all you had.
The cabin was two hours from the nearest town.
You didnโt remember falling asleep in the car. You didnโt remember agreeing to come.
You just remembered Ellieโs voice: โThereโs too many people around you. Too many eyes.โ
She made it sound like love. And you were so tired of fighting.
You woke up wrapped in thick blankets. The fire crackled low. Rain tapped against the window like a pulse.
And Ellie was already watching.
She sat in the rocking chair, legs spread wide, one hand curled beneath her chin. The other rested on her thigh.
โYouโre safe now,โ she said.
You sat up slowly, brain hazy. โWhere are we?โ
โSomewhere they canโt reach you.โ
You should have run. Instead, you pulled the blanket tighter. And whispered, โOkay.โ
The first few days felt like a dream. A stillness you didnโt realize you craved. Ellie chopped wood outside shirtless, sweat glistening down her spine. She cooked, fed you, fixed the fire. She moved like a soldier, like a lover, like something primal that found peace only when she could watch you.
โDo you hate it here?โ she asked one night. You shook your head.
Because here, she didnโt have to hide what she was. And neither did you.
She kissed you after dinner. Hard. Possessive.
You tasted desperation in itโan edge like she was afraid youโd disappear mid-kiss. Her hands slid under your thighs, lifting you effortlessly onto the counter. The plates clattered. You didnโt care.
โTell me youโre mine,โ she growled against your throat.
You couldnโt breathe. Couldnโt think. Your head lolled back as her hand slid up your shirt, gripping your breast with a brutal need.
โSay it.โ
โIโm yours,โ you gasped. It felt like a vow.
That night, she took you.
Face pressed into the mattress. Hands pinned above your head. Her mouth feverish on your skin, trailing teeth and tongue in frantic worship. Every thrust came with a litanyโMine. Mine. Mine.โpunctuated by bruises blooming under her fingertips.
You came with a scream you didnโt recognize. You came again, sobbing her name.
And when it was over, she curled around you like armor.
Whispered, โI wonโt let anyone take you from me.โ
You didnโt reply. Because you didnโt want to leave.
Days blurred.
Ellie read to you, bathed you, watched you sleep. She didnโt let you touch the keys. Didnโt let you wander past the woods.
โItโs not safe,โ sheโd repeat. โPeople lie. I donโt.โ
You believed her. Or you needed to believe her.
One night, she tied your wrists with her belt. Not out of cruelty.
But because you asked her to.
Because your mind was starting to slip tooโspiraling in on itself like hers.
โI want to feel it,โ you whispered. โWhat itโs like to beโฆ owned.โ
Something in Ellie snapped. She fucked you on the floor. Face flushed, voice shaking. She held your chin and made you watch her as you came. Over and over.
โYouโre not leaving,โ she told you afterward. You smiled, dazed.
โWhy would I?โ
You found her journal. Pages filled with youโsketches, fantasies, maps of your body. But also lists. Daydreams:
"Her in a collar"
"Me watching her sleep, knife under the pillow"
"Keep her full. Keep her scared. Keep her close"
"Fuck her in front of a mirror until she canโt tell who she is anymore"
You shouldโve been afraid. But instead, you wrote your name in the margin next to hers.
By the second week, you stopped asking when youโd go back.
By the third, you stopped wondering who you used to be.
You were hers now. And worse?
She was yours.
Because obsession, when shared, is just another kind of love.
You donโt know how long youโve been in the cabin.
Days feel like water slipping through your fingers. You forget what month it is. Sometimes Ellie forgets your name. But you always know hers.
She carved it into the headboard, right above where she made you hers. She whispers it into your skin every night like a ritual. She branded it into your bones.
Ellie.
She watches you brush your hair. Stares like sheโs never seen a woman before. Like youโre some phantom that might slip through the cracks if she blinks too long.
โI think Iโd kill someone for you,โ she says one morning.
You donโt flinch. You smile.
โWho?โ
She doesnโt answer. But that night, thereโs blood under her fingernails.
You break first. It happens slowlyโyour grip on reality softens like wet paper.
You cry when your reflection doesnโt smile back. You scream at the storm outside like itโs mocking you. You bite down on Ellieโs arm while sheโs fucking you because you need to feel something real.
She doesnโt punish you. She moans.
Ellie starts hearing things.
She locks the door even when no oneโs around. She kisses you with a hand on your throat now, like sheโs making sure you donโt lie. You find notes stuffed in her boots:
โSheโs slipping. Sheโs forgetting me. Iโll make her remember.โ
You donโt tell her you read them. Instead, you leave one of your own:
โIf I forget you, kill me.โ
The next time she fucks you, itโs on the front porch. Naked. In the cold. Rain on your bare chest. She wants the world to seeโwants the sky to know youโre hers. You ride her with your hands knotted in her hair, blood dripping from your lip where she bit you. You come like youโre trying to leave your body behind. She drags you back in with her mouth.
You stop caring about survival.
You drink wine for breakfast. You forget how to spell your last name. You tell Ellie sheโs inside your lungs and she kisses your ribs like thatโll keep her there.
โI want to die here,โ you say one night.
She presses her forehead to yours.
โWe already did.โ
Thereโs no mirror in the bedroom anymore.
You smashed it after Ellie asked, โDo you still recognize yourself?โ
You didnโt.
You donโt.
And that was the point.
The last time you go outside, itโs because Ellie begs you to. She wants to show you somethingโthis twisted, gorgeous mural she painted in the barn. It's all you.
Your eyes. Your mouth. Your cunt, over and over, blooming like some unholy flower.
โItโs worship,โ she says.
You drop to your knees and lick the paint off her fingers.
Thereโs no turning back.
Not now. Not when the lines between captor and captive, lover and lunatic, have blurred past meaning.
You are two sides of the same sickness now.
Two gods of one deranged altar.
Two corpses in one grave, still moving, still wanting.
You kiss her like drowning. She holds you like possession.
And when the world finally forgets you existโ You are relieved.
The cabin is quiet. Too quiet.
Ellie hasnโt spoken in two days. Not really. She hums to herself, sometimes, drawing you in her sketchbook over and over until the pages wrinkle under the pressure of her pencil.
You ask what sheโs thinking.
She just looks up and says, โYouโre so quiet when you sleep.โ
Like that answers anything. Like that means everything.
That night, she takes you to bed like itโs the last time. Sheโs soft with you. Gentle, even.
Kisses your eyelids, your palms, your knees. Cradles your hips like sheโs trying to memorize their weight. She doesnโt fuck you like she wants to own youโshe fucks you like sheโs already lost you.
You cry. She doesnโt ask why.
When you wake up, the gun is on the pillow. Itโs cleaned.
Oiled. Loaded.
And next to it is her final drawing: the two of you under the covers, a red thread wrapped around your throats, knotted into a bow at the center.
Underneath, sheโs written: If we canโt live like this, we donโt live at all.
You find her on the floor, knees tucked under her like a child. Sheโs holding a second pistol, one she probably stole months ago.
When she looks at you, she doesnโt smile. She just says, โWill you let me do it?โ
You nod.
Because thatโs love, too. Trusting someone to end you.
She holds you in her lap, like a lullaby. One hand buried in your hair, the other on your pulse. You breathe together.
Youโre not afraid. Not anymore.
โI love you,โ you whisper.
Ellie kisses your temple.
โI know.โ
The first shot rings out, and the birds fly from the trees.
The second shot follows, echoing through the forest like a vow.
And thenโ Nothing.
When they find the bodies, you're curled together, as if sleeping.
No notes. No names. Just each other.
Forever.

Summary: All Ellie wanted was for you to forgive her
I know that you're hiding something from me
That's been close to your heart
And I felt it creeping up every day
Baby, right from the start
Ellie sat across you, as she watched your hands fidget. She knew there was something off about you. She knew you were hiding something from her. And if she had to guess by your recent behavior she could tell that it was serious.
Youโve been acting strange for the last few months now. You were distant. Cold. You werenโt that ray of sunshine she fell in love with.
As the days go by Ellie canโt help but feel more and more alone. She didnโt only feel alone, but she became touch starved by the distance you kept from her. You were there but you werenโt. You were hers but you werenโt. You started talking to her less, you stopped any form of physical contact with Ellie. No more hugging, no more cuddling. Nothing.
And in the beginning Ellie was concerned. She thought maybe you were sick, or hurt. But as time went on and you were pulling away from her not just physically but emotionally too- Ellie knew there was something much deeper than a sickness. For weeks sheโs searched her brain to try and figure out.
What the hell was wrong with you? How could she help you? Did Ellie do something? Was your behavior her fault? What the fuck is happening to the love of her life?
I know that look you give when we're fighting (fighting)
We're fighting (fighting)
'Cause I used to be the one who was lying (lying)
Oh, lying (lying)
Ellie stared at you, your gaze cold. She looked into your eyes, and normally when she would look at you, your eyes would be filled with love and admiration for Ellie- but all she could see was anger. Hatred. Ellie became sick of your behavior and she decided to confront you. The argument started off simple, with Ellie saying something along the lines of โare you ok? ย youโve been acting weird babe. You know you can always talk to meโ What was supposed to be a normal conversation escalated very quickly.
โBaby look I donโt want to argue with you- I just need you to be honest with meโ Ellie begged. She looked at you with pleading eyes.
You scoffed โas if you have ever been honest with meโ
As soon as those words left your lips, tension filled the room. The room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop.
One night after a very rough day on patrol, Ellie and Dina went out. After a couple of drinks, the two girls ended up, hooking up in your house. It didnโt take a long time for you to find out. Ellie wasnโt really good at hiding things.ย And when you found out you were crushed. And Ellie knew she messed up a good thing as soon as she saw the tears fill your eyes as she told you. Ellie was filled with guilt and regret.ย You almost left Ellie that day. But you didnโt. You stayed. You stayed because you loved her. You gave her a second chance. A chance to prove herself. It was hard for you in the beginning but eventually you and Ellie went back to โnormalโ. But that normal didnโt last very long.
Oh. Now everything made sense. Ellie sat there, mouth agape, at your response. She heard you let out a huff โlook Ellie- I love you. But I canโt just forget and move onโโ
ย Before any words could leave Ellieโs mouth you spoke again โI need space, I need someone who wonโt do what you did, because if really did love me, you wouldnโt have slept with Dinaโ
The words rang in Ellieโs ears:
โ I need someone who wonโt do what you didโ You wanted someone else?
โIf you really did love me, you wouldnโt have slept with Dinaโ
Ellie sat there in silence. She watched you pick up a bag walk to the door. โIโm going out donโt wait upโ And you left. You didnโt look back. As soon as the door shut Ellie let out a sob. A gut wrenching sob. She knew she made a mistake but she didnโt know that it would lead to this. Ellie loved you. You were her entire world and to hear you say really did love me you wouldnโt have slept with Dina hurts because she loved you. She loved you more than life itself. ย
The words bounced around in her head over and over again โI need someone who wonโt do what you did, because if really did love me, you wouldnโt have slept with Dinaโ
โI need someone who wonโt do what you did, because if really did love me, you wouldnโt have slept with Dinaโ
Oh (oh), is there someone else or not?
'Cause I wanna keep you close
I don't wanna lose my spot
'Cause I need to know
If you're hurting him, or you're hurting me
If I ain't with you, I don't wanna be
Is there someone else or not?
Ooh, or not
Ellie felt her eyes gloss over as she watched you sit at the end of the bed. She felt her tears run down her face, in an attempt to not look so vulnerable Ellie brought her knees to her chest, and she put her chin on her kneecaps. You werenโt looking at her- fidgeting with your hands.
Ellie knew you were nervous; the fact you arenโt making eyes contact with her was already a sign. Ellie wasnโt sure why she was crying, all you did was walk into the room and you sat down on the bed. But Ellie had a feeling. Her gut was telling her you were going to say something she wouldnโt like. You were there to break her heart. Ellie let a small whimper and turned to look at her. You didnโt reach out to her, like you normally would. You didnโt comfort her. You just looked at her and you said โEllie now is not the time to cryโ Your face was as beautiful as always. You voice calm, while Ellie was wreck across from you.
โIs there someone else?โ Ellie whispered. And as soon as those words left her mouth, Ellie could tell by your facial expression there was. There is someone else.
โNoโ Ellie whispered, frantic as brought her hands over her ears as she let out loud sobs, repeating the words no over and over again. There is someone else.
For how long? Was it a girl or a boy? Ellie was the other women.
Ellie needed to hear the words leave your mouth. She needed you to say yes. She needed to know if she lost her spot. Being the girl you came home to, being the girl you shared your hopes and dreams with. She wanted to be that girl forever, but she isnโt that girl anymore. There was someone else. Ellie needed to know. Ellie didnโt want to be with anyone but you. You were her everything, even the thought of her being with someone disgusts her.
As Ellie sat there rocking back and forth screaming her lungs out, she felt you gently holding her, and shushing her.
ย โSh sh sh baby its okโ you said softly. Even with the current situation Ellie immediately leaned into your hold, grabbing onto your t-shirt and sobbing into your arms. You were humming a soft tune, because you knew music always calmed Ellie down. You knew her better than she knew herself.
When Ellie eventually calmed down she pulled away from you slowly, looking at your beautiful face. Your cheeks were slightly wet, from crying as well. Ellie asked the question again:
โIs there someone else?โ
And that three letter word let your mouth. Ellie wished you didnโt confirm it. But her question was answered when you let out a simple;
โYes.โ
I don't deserve someone loyal to me
Don't you think I see?
And I don't want to be a prisoner to who I used to be
I swear I changed my ways for the better, the better
'Cause I wanna be with you forever, forever
Ellie was drunk. That night that she hooked up with Dina. She was drunk. Alcohol is not an excuse for cheating, and she knew that but she was drunk. Ellie didnโt think that one drunken mistake would cost her the love of her life.
You were too good for Ellie. Too loving. The things Ellie has done in her life that was disgusting, and cruel. Ellie was heartless. Ellie thought no one could love someone as dirty as she was. But then there was you. You loved Ellie for who she was, and now because she was drunk she lost you. The only person other than Joel that mattered to her. Ellie didnโt deserve you. She didnโt deserve someone as loyal and loving like you were. And even when you gave her that second chance she knew she didnโt deserve it. She deserved you leaving her. She deserved you getting with someone else. Ellie tried changing her ways, because she wanted to be with you forever. Till she took he last breathe she wanted to be with you.
ย In the months after you and Ellie broke up, she tried proving to you that she was a good person. Even when you broken up she tried. When you had announced this someone else you were seeing was your girlfriend it ruined Ellie. Because she canโt live without you. The fact that you were in a stable relationship with someone that is not her hurts. And even though you had a girlfriend Ellie would still try. She writes you notes, sends you messages through people, pleading that you would give her another chance. Ellie needed you.
ย But the more Ellie looked at the situation, the more she realized that this was the consequences of her own actions.
Oh, is there someone else or not?
'Cause I wanna keep you close
I don't wanna lose my spot
'Cause I need to know
If you're hurting him, or you're hurting me
If I ain't with you, I don't wanna be
Is there someone else or not?
Ooh, or not
Ellie looked the grin on your face as you walked down the aisle, you looked beautiful in your wedding dress. Ellie dreamed of this day. The day you would walk to her, and get married. And that you would end up her surname.
But now she was a part of the crowd. She watched you walk down the aisle to your girlfriend of 2 years. Her name was Abby. An outsider that joined Jackson in the recent years. You were marrying the women you had left her for.
ย As the pastor exclaimed you may now kiss the bride, both you and that girl smiled as you leaned in for that kiss. You were married. To someone else. The crowd screamed when your lips locked with hers, and Ellie couldnโt help but let her tear fall at the sight. There was no saving your relationship. It had been almost 3 years since you and Ellie broke up, and she still couldnโt move on. Ellie became a shell of the person she was after you left. Ellie was never the same. And Ellie never will be the same.
Many times Ellie fantasies that Abby was the women that cheated on you. She fantasizes that she was that someone else you left Abby for. But that was not the case.
For the rest of Ellieโs life, she grieved your relationship, while you lived your happily ever after.

can you do hcs of ellie williams taking care of sick reader :)
โ- Ellie is a very observant person. Itโs actually annoying how well she can read you. She would most likely know you were sick even before you realized you were.
โ- Ellie protects. She serves. She looks after people. She cares. As soon as she finds out you are sick her natural instinct is to provide and to care for you.
โ- Even if it was a small cold Ellie freaks out, she usually acts like youโre on the brink of death:
โEllie itโs just a coldโ
โYou could suffocate in your own mucus thoughโ
โNo- โ
โ- She would show up at your house randomly, sometimes breaking in just make sure you were ok:
โEllie you were here 3 hours agoโ
โOk so?โ
โ- She would cook you something to eat (or attempt to because letโs be honest it doesnโt look like Ellie can cook) and force you to eat it:
โItโs burntโ
โShut up baby, I know whatโs good for youโ
โ- Sheโd run you a bath (daily), give you massages and she would sing to you.
โ- Ellie literally treats you like a baby while youโre sick( she wonโt even let you basic things by yourself)
โEllie I can tuck myself inโย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย
โShhhh I know what Iโm doingโ
โ- Most nights Ellie wouldnโt sleep, sheโd stay awake to make sure you were getting a good nightโs rest.
โ- Very affectionate (more than she normally is)
โEllie donโt touch me Iโll get you sickโ
โEllie stop kissing meโ
โEllie go awayโ
(She can be suffocating at times)
(You canโt even pee alone)
โ- She would most likely cry when you mention any pain youโre feeling, because she hates seeing you in pain, or hearing that you feel anything but happiness.
โ- Is worried that maybe you didnโt have a cold, and that you had something more serious and life threatening
โThe medical books say that the headaches could be a brain tumorโ
โEllie what- โ
โ- When you eventually get better, Ellie still follows you around, constantly checking if the cold/flu came back.
โWhy do you keep touching my forehead?โ
โYou could be sickโ
โEllie I was sick a week ago, I feel betterโ
โThatโs what a sick person in denial would sayโ
โI- โ

โNow I got you in my space
I wonโt let go of you.โ
You werenโt supposed to meet her.
You were just passing through. One night, shelter from the rain, a hot meal traded for clean bullets. Then you saw herโ
tattooed arm, flannel rolled to the elbows, eyes sharp like she was built of steel and sorrow.
She didnโt say much that first night. But she watched you.
And you watched her back.
People in the commune whispered about Ellie Williams. About what sheโd done. Something about vengeance. Something about blood. But no one dared speak it aloud.
Except you.
You werenโt scared of her. You were intrigued. You thought you could handle it.
Oh, how wrong you were....
Somehow, it became a routine.
She'd show up at your cabin. Late. Unannounced. She never knocked.
Sometimes she came with a cut on her lip. Dirt on her hands. Sometimes she didnโt say a wordโjust grabbed you by the collar and kissed you like she was trying to fuse your bones together.
It was thrilling. Addictive.
You never asked where she went. You didnโt want to know. Because deep down, you liked it.
The chaos. The danger.
The way she latched onto you like you were the only thing left in the world keeping her human.
And you let her.
One night, she doesnโt come home. You wait. You pace. You ask around. Thenโsomeone finds her.
Covered in blood. Breathing, barely. A man dead beside her with his throat slashed.
She wonโt say what happened. But something in her eyes is... off. Hollow.
You nurse her back to health. She never thanks you. But she doesnโt leave, either. That night, she holds you tighter than she ever has. You wake up unable to breathe.
And thatโs when the dreams start.
Blood. Wolves. Her face but twisted. Smiling.
You should've been scared. But you latched onto her.
You find a journal in Ellieโs bag. You know you shouldnโt look. But you do.
Inside: drawings. Of you. Over and over.
Sometimes smiling. Sometimes sleeping. Sometimes... injured.
One page stops your heart.
It's you, lying dead. Ellie crying beside your body.
A note scribbled beneath: โIf I lose her, I lose everything.โ
You shut the book. Pretend you didnโt see.
But something shifts after that.
You start to feel itโhow tightly she watches you, how she tenses when you talk to others, how she clutches your wrist, not your hand.
This isnโt love.
Itโs possession and you were stuck.
You try to leave one night as she slept peacefully.
She catches you before you reach the gate.
"Where are you going?" Her voice is low. Calm. Terrifying.
"Ellie... I can't breathe anymore."
She steps closer.
โYou said I made you feel safe.โ
"You did. But now it feels like a cage."
Something flickers behind her eyes. And she smiles.
โThen I guess I have to make the cage prettier.โ
She gently took your hand, and she took you back inside. You were trapped. She could've put you into a cage and you would've preferred that.
One night, you manage it. You drug her water. You run.
You make it to the riverbank. Steal a boat. You're free.
Or so you thought...
Until someone jumps from the shadowsโ
a blade to your neck.
But itโs not Ellie.
Itโs Dina. Bruised and alive.
โGet away from her,โ Dina spoke with a voice filled with sympathy. โSheโll never let you go.โ
Your mind spins. โButโshe said you were goneโโ
โShe wanted you to think that.โ Dina starts as she slowly brings the blade away from your neck.
"You need to get away"
Ellie appears behind her. Calm. Smiling.
"You were never meant to find each other," Ellie says. Both you and Dinas head snaps into the direction of her voice. You felt your body go cold. Dina's eyes widen with fear.
You can't even recall what happened next. All you remember was the sound of gunshots. It was all a blur.
Dina shoots first.
Ellie dodges.
You grab the gun and fireโ
Ellie collapses.
You donโt breathe until her eyes close.
You watched Ellie- the women who has been tormenting you for the last few months bleed to death on the ground before you.
You hear Dina talking. You don't even know what she's saying, the only sound you could hear was the ringing in your ears.
Months went by and you live with Dina now. The two of you donโt talk about Ellie.
You donโt talk about how you sometimes wake up reaching for her.
You donโt talk about how, sometimes, you still hear her voice.
And you definitely donโt talk about the page in her journal you kept.
The one that wasnโt of you dead. The one where she drew herself, alone.
Underneath, it read: โIf I let go, I lose her.โ
If she scared you so much, why are you still latching onto her?
<3
Idk if you're taking requests but if so can you write a kinda angsty fanfic where the reader is insecure asf about her looks and is jealous of bestfriend!Ellie because Ellie is so pretty. And as she's gotten older the reader has learned to be less jealous (or just suppressed the feeling) but like one day her jealousy is revealed when her and Ellie are drinking together and like ellie is shocked because she's always found the reader cute. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME ๐
Hi anon!! this idea sounds so cool!! i went back and forth between giving it a happy ending or a sad one. I wanted to kill off a character honestly. But on this rare occasion, let me write something happy lmao. lmk if you want another version:)

But sometimes, being next to her felt like standing beside a lit matchโclose enough to burn, too far to be warm.
She was everything you werenโt. Confident. Effortless. The kind of pretty that people noticed without her trying. When you walked into a room together, you disappeared behind her glow like a shadow behind sunlight.
She didnโt mean to make you feel small.
But she did.
โGod, youโre so dramatic,โ Ellie laughed, flopping back on the couch with her third drink in hand. โI did not flirt with that guy.โ
You rolled your eyes and took a long sip. Your face burned. โHe literally tripped over his words when he saw you. I donโt blame him.โ
Ellie raised a brow, cheeks flushed. โYouโre being weird tonight.โ
You forced a smile, eyes on the floor. โJust tired.โ
That was a lie. You werenโt tiredโyou were cracking.
Cracking under years of silent comparison.
Of wondering if she ever looked at you the way you looked at her.
Of trying to be fine with being the best friend.
Three drinks turned into five.
And five drinks turned into the kind of honesty that stung more than alcohol ever could.
You were lying on Ellieโs floor, legs tangled in a blanket, the moonlight filtering through the half-open curtains. She was beside you, laughing at something stupid, lips glossy with whiskey and chapstick.
You watched her laugh and felt it againโthat ache.
And this time, it didnโt stay quiet.
โYou ever get tired of being... the pretty one?โ you slurred, staring at the ceiling.
Ellie blinked. โWhat?โ
You swallowed hard. The words came like a flood.
โI mean, I donโt blame anyone. Youโre fucking gorgeous, Ellie. Always have been. Itโs justโ"
You choked out a laugh, bitter and small. "Itโs hard sometimes. Being the... invisible one next to you.โ
The room fell dead silent.
You didnโt dare look at her.
Ellie sat up slowly.
โYou think youโre invisible?โ she said quietly.
You shrugged. โItโs not your fault. You didnโt ask to beโฆ perfect.โ
โJesus, Iโm not perfectโโ
โBut you donโt get it,โ you snapped. โYouโve always been the one people see. Even when youโre quiet, they feel you. Iโve spent years trying to be okay with being the second choice. The backup. The ugly friend.โ
You buried your face in your hands. โGod, I canโt believe I said that out loud.โ
Ellie didnโt respond for a long moment.
And thenโgently, almost shakilyโshe said, โYou really think I donโt see you?โ
You looked up, eyes rimmed with salt.
Ellie was staring at you like sheโd never really looked before.
โIโve had a crush on you since we were seventeen,โ she said flatly.
Your heart stopped.
โWhat?โ you breathed.
โI thought I was being subtle. I figured you werenโt into girls, or you just didnโt see me like that, so I never said anything.โ
You stared at her, stunned. โEllieโฆโ
Her voice dropped, softer. โYouโve got this way of... pretending youโre fine even when you're screaming inside. You think no one notices, but I do. I see every flinch. Every forced smile. And I think youโre the most beautiful person Iโve ever known.โ
Your eyes welled up againโbut this time, not from jealousy.
From shock. From relief. From finally being seen.
The next morning, your head throbbed, but your heart felt light.
Ellie made you coffee. She was quiet, her usual sarcastic wall softened.
โDo you remember what you said?โ she asked, gently, sliding you a mug.
โEvery word,โ you admitted, clutching the cup. โIโve never felt so stupid.โ
She tilted her head. โWhy?โ
โBecause itโs embarrassing to want something you thought you could never have.โ
Ellie walked around the table and crouched beside you, hand on your knee.
โYou already have it,โ she said softly. โYou just didnโt know.โ
You blinked at her. And thenโfinallyโyou let yourself believe it.
It wasnโt all easy after that. You still had bad days. Still saw someone in the mirror who didnโt feel enough.
But Ellie never let you spiral alone.
She kissed your forehead when you hated your body. Held your hand when you felt like disappearing. Told you she loved your laugh, your eyes, your stupid sarcasm.
And every time she did, you started to believe her.
Little by little. Step by step.
Until the mirror didnโt feel so cruel anymore.
Until โprettyโ didnโt have to mean her instead of you.
Until you stopped being jealous of Ellieโฆ
And started being in love with her instead.

Masterlist
You met Abby during a supply run in Jackson. Just two soldiers assigned to the same patrol, nothing special. But there was something about youโyour laugh, maybe. The way you didnโt flinch when she barked orders. The way you looked at the world like it hadnโt completely fallen apart.
That was two months ago.
Now, she watches you from the shadows.
She doesnโt mean to. At first, it was casual. Coincidental. A walk past the stables. Lingering near the training yard. Asking around. But then she saw you with someone else. That girlโMia, from the medbay. Too close. Touching your wrist. Whispering.
Abbyโs jaw locked so tight her molars ached.
She waited. Quiet. Calculating.
She told herself you werenโt hers. But that wasnโt true. Not really.
You were hers. You just didnโt know it yet.
โSheโs gonna be dead, I just got a magic wand.โ
You started noticing strange things.
Your door left slightly ajar when you knew you closed it. The sweater you thought you lost suddenly reappearing on your cot. A shadow behind you in the glass of the dining hall. At first, you brushed it off. The world was full of paranoia and traumaโmaybe it was just stress.
Then Mia disappeared.
She never showed up to her shift. Her bunk was untouched. No note. No signs of struggle.
You asked questions. Abby watched you from across the rec room as you begged the search party to look further. No one had the energy to care. People disappeared sometimes.
But Abby cared.
Abby had taken care of the problem.
She didn't use a "magic wand"โjust her hands. Just enough pressure. She didnโt scream. Abby was proud of that. No mess. No loose ends.
She thought you'd notice her now. You didnโt.
You started pulling away. Spending more time alone. Your smileโher favorite thing about youโbegan to dim. She hated that. Hated that you didnโt know she was trying to protect you.
Abby tried to get closer. Leaving you small things. A can of your favorite peaches. A leather glove you mentioned needing. You thanked her, politely.
But not the way she wanted.
โI need to get her out the picture, sheโs really fucking up my frame.โ
Abby started dreaming about you. In those dreams, you kissed her like you meant it. You let her hold you. You begged her to stay. Woke up to soaked sheets and a clenched jaw.
Reality was uglier. You barely looked at her now. You were scaredโshe could see it in your eyes. That made her blood boil and her stomach twist.
It was that fucking patrol leader next.
Sergio.
Too friendly. Too smug. Too willing to walk next to you, show you how to hold a better grip on your rifle.
Abby followed him. Took his knee out behind the stables. Broke his arm and left him in the snow. Said she found him that way.
It wasnโt about jealousy, she told herself. It was about clarity. You and herโthere was no room for anyone else in the picture.
They were ruining the shot. The life she could see so clearly with you.
Sheโd fix it.
โI wanna be found, passenger in your car.โ
You knew it by the fourth disappearance. This wasnโt just coincidence. Someone was doing this.
Someone was doing this for you.
Thatโs when you found the journal.
Hidden under the floorboard in the old stables. Pages and pages of your name. Drawings of your face. A lock of your hair taped to the corner of a page. Abbyโs messy handwriting scrawled beneath every entry:
โI saw her smile today. I think she smiled at me.โ
โShe wore her green coat. It suits her. She looked coldโI should bring her another.โ
โShe looked at her again. I want to rip her throat out.โ
โShe's mine. She just doesn't understand yet.โ
Your breath caught. She was watching you. All this time.
โYou got a new friend, it hurts. Iโll make you one, Iโll make you one.โ
You confronted her. Cornered her in the greenhouse, where no one else went anymore.
"Abby," you said, voice trembling. "What the fuck did you do?"
She didnโt deny it. Just looked at you like she always hadโlike you were the sun burning through her skull.
โI protected you,โ she said. โThey didnโt deserve you. None of them did.โ
โYou killed them,โ you whispered.
She stepped closer. You flinched. That hurt herโcut deep.
โIโd do it again,โ Abby murmured, voice soft and low. โIโd do anything for you.โ
You shouldโve run. You shouldโve screamed.
But something in her eyesโsomething fractured and sincereโrooted you in place.
She reached out, calloused fingers brushing your cheek. You didnโt move.
"You donโt have to be scared," she whispered. "Iโm not gonna hurt you. I just want you to see. We can be good, you and me."
And despite everythingโthe deaths, the obsession, the blood on her handsโyour heart stuttered.
Because some broken, desperate part of you wanted to believe her.
Wanted to believe you could be loved that completely.
โPlease donโt leave me now.โ
Abby kept you in a cabin miles from Jackson. Safe. Stocked. Secluded. A place where no one could come between you.
She made you tea. Lit the fireplace. Spoke softly. Touched you like you were made of glass.
You tried to run once. She found you hours later, frostbitten and sobbing.
She carried you back. Wrapped you in blankets. Kissed your forehead.
โYou donโt get it,โ she murmured against your skin. โYouโre all I have left.โ
And eventually...you stopped fighting. Let her touch linger. Let her hold you at night.
You told yourself it was survival. But when she kissed you the first time, your lips parted.
Not in protest.
But in surrender.

"Staying in my room
This feeling is vivid on a sleepless night
Yeah, I know what I want
Sensitive sense
The face that emerged between the shimmering moonlight
Baby, oh, it's you
Then my heart is on fire, fire"
You screamed into your pillow as soon as you woke up.
You hated her. So fucking much.
Her entire existence bothered you, the way she talked, the way she breathed.
You hated Ellie Williams so much.
You yelled and yelled till you had no more air left.
When you left the house you saw her, when you were helping Maria in the garden you saw her, you saw her when you did your grocery shopping.
You could blame Jackson for being so small, everyone knows everyone here. But you still hated seeing her. You wish she never came here.
You didn't like the way she smiles, you don't like the way she says your name, you just don't like her.
You laid on the very pillow you just screamed into. Heavy breathes left your mouth as you looked out your window. You've been having vivid dreams about her.
She's haunting you and she didn't even know that.
You laid on your back looking at the ceiling and thinking about the dream that ruined your sleep.
You were walking through a forest. It felt so real.
The moon was high in the sky, casting a beautiful blue light onto your surroundings. You could smell the ground, you could feel the dew on your skin, you could hear the wind blowing. You were at peace.
You smelled her. You knew it was her.
You should've walked away, but you were drawn to her. You heard leaves crunching under your feet as you walked closer.
She was here. You could feel her.
You stopped when you saw a figure standing in the dark.
"Ellie" you whispered.
She took a step forward, the moonlight reflecting on her face. You took in her green eyes, her beautiful smile, her autumn brown hair.
She was beautiful.
"Hi" she said with a smile.
Before you could say anything, you woke up.
She's everywhere in Jackson, you see her stupid face everyday, why should she show up in your dreams too?
You hated Ellie Williams.
But if you hate her so much, why does your heart ache for her?
"Sรญ, I know you bad for me
But why are you doing this?
I keep wanting and wanting
This craving for you
I've been losing sleep over you
I've been losing sleep over you
I only think of you again
I can't sleep
Losing sleep over you
I've been losing sleep over you
White long chestnuts
Yeah, I need you by my side"
You stared at her when you went to the cafeteria the next day.
You've heard the rumors. Everyone knew of Ellie Williams. The amount of people who dream to have one conversion is endless.
Every time you hear her name, its either a story of her hooking up with someone or her homewrecking a relationship. She is a disgusting human being.
Why do you want her so much? Why do your cheeks heat up when she smiles at you? You crave her. You're starved for her despite her bad reputation.
No wait. You cant want her.
You hate her... right?
Right?
You're afraid to fall asleep. You're afraid that she'll show up in your dreams again. That one dream ruined everything.
Every time you closed your eyes you saw her smiling face.
You needed to escape her, you needed to get away from her, but she's following you around like a stupid fly.
When you lay in your bed at night, you could only think of her.
What she wore that day, with who she talked to.
She's everywhere you go, she consumes most of your thoughts, she haunts you in your dreams, she's making you lose sleep.
You really hated Ellie Williams.
"I can't bear it anymore
The flame spreads through the growing thirst
Call your name
Yeah, I can't stop
All night, all night, yeah, I think of you
Even if I close my eyes for a moment, I dream of you
I'ma dream of you, oh
All of your A to Z
Sweet toxic to me
No one but you
Put this feeling to rest"
You cant take it anymore.
Your body ached for her, in a way you've never experienced. You were thirsty and the only person who could quench that thirst was her.
Everyday without her became harder and harder.
She was all you thought you about, you saw her in everything. You cant stop.
You were addicted to the version of Ellie you created in your head.
You needed her and you were desperate. So desperate that you decided to ask her out.
It was a chilly day and you saw her standing next to Joel. You took a deep breath before you walked towards them, you gave Joel a polite "hello" and he gave you a nod.
You asked Ellie if you could talk privately and she said yes.
Holy shit, she said yes.
Your heart beat faster, she was willing to listen. The two of you walked a little distance away from Joel before you turned to her and immediately asked: "do you want to go on a date?"
She shrugged and said "sure"
She said yes.
You gave her a awkward handshake and you ran home screaming into your pillow.
This was really happening. It's not a dream anymore.
You walked into the tipsy bison, excited to finally talk to her. You stomach dropped when you saw Ellie and a redhead.
Ellie's hand was on her thigh and, and you felt sick.
They were right about her. You've been losing sleep over a girl like Ellie?
This put the feelings you had for Ellie to rest. You were done with her.
You turned and you walked out the bar, before you looked up at the sky.
You really fucking hated Ellie Williams.
