We Have Lived Through This Before.

We have lived through this before.

People said Gore wasn't good enough, that he was Bland and uninteresting and middle of the road and something had to change. So they voted third party or they didn't vote at all. And the Democratic party didn't wake up, and we got George W Bush and all the absolute hot garbage that came with him.

And they said Hillary Clinton was the wrong candidate, that she was middle of the road at best and conservative for the Democrats at worst, that she was entitled and they were going to vote for a third party or they didn't vote at all or worse yet, they voted for the other candidate as a joke because it's not like those votes change things, you know? And the Democratic party didn't magically wake up, they didn't majorly change, and we are still dealing with the fallout from that.

And that's not only twice in my lifetime, but twice in my voting lifetime. One of the important things you learn in therapy is that you cannot change other people, and you cannot set your expectations based on how you think they ought to react to certain things.

If you are refusing to vote, or voting third-party because of what you think it's going to make someone else do, please reconsider.

If you want to make the liberals or the centrists or whatever you want to call them wake up, you're going to need to do something that hasn't already been done twice in the last 20 years.

its been p common knowledge for decades that light pollution can be massively reduced by just putting shades on streetlamps, and that doing that would save energy, help wildlife, and let us see the stars better, but are society says if u wanna change any minor little tiny thing u gotta dedicate ur whole life to campaigning for it and this is a good ways down the list of priorities for most ppl, so instead i gotta walk past newly-installed streetlamps that are just dumb glass globes that use half their electricity to blast half their light directly into the sky where it does only bad things for no reason and think "we should overthrow the government"

Kaeya spends a lot of time working really hard to keep Childe from ever even talking to his brother, coming up with various sneaky plans to keep Diluc safe from this evil fatui dude who clearly doesn't deserve him

And then it ends with him discovering they were dating all along anyway

image

Ok, but Diluc thinks that Kaeya just wants to spend time together. And doesn't realize that it's a plan to keep him away from Childe.

So it ends up with Diluc stretching himself out, trying his best to spend time with Kaeya and Childe while also trying to do the winery work and his nightly activities.

And Kaeya discovers all this when Diluc just ends up overworking himself and falling asleep and missing his appointments with both Childe and Kaeya, so they just show up at Diluc's house. And find him sleeping at his desk. So it all comes out, and neither realized that Diluc was doing his best to accommodate both of them.

I believe a truce is called shortly after that.

Because well... Kaeya is honestly touched that Diluc was trying so hard to spend time with him. And Childe cares too much about Diluc and his health to really try and fight Kaeya.

Big fan of angels being autistic btw. "How does an entity like that have a neurological condition" Well they can act like that. Angels having traits that read as autistic. Incomprehensible being trying for their best mimicry of human behavior. You understand

i just remember sitting with my parents before school saying i just cant go and them telling me exactly this. i really hated going to school, it was loud and people never liked me that much. i felt strange all the time but i just tried to pretend i wasn’t some days, then others it was too much and i just couldn’t handle anything

Twitter/X thread from Victoria Duncan on X:
"At some point, very early on, undiagnosed neurodivergent children are faced with a terrible dilemma.

They will tell someone they're in pain, someone they trust, and that person will say no they're not. That didn't hurt. It can't have. They're being selfish/dramatic/lying.

The child has to get their head around it. They feel pain, but a trusted caregiver says they don't and they're being bad for saying so. How can it be true?

There are only two, bad, options.

The child may choose to believe the caregiver and decide that they are wrong about their pain. They will make this choice again and again over the years and slowly learn to ignore their body until they are barely connected to it at all. They learn not to trust themselves.

Or, the child might not be able to ignore the reality of their pain. In which case, they have to give up on pleasing their caregiver by keeping quiet as demanded. They learn that adults won't believe or take care of them. They learn not to trust other people.
I think whichever choice you make, you carry the rest of your life, disconnected either from your own body and experiences, or from other people and meaningful relationships. Maybe both.

Anyway, diagnosis is the only way out of the dilemma. It's the only way your reality can be different from other people's without someone being at fault - is if you have a word like "sensory overwhelm" to explain the difference.

That's why diagnosis changes lives & why people want it so much.

This is about saying you're in pain because of sensory overwhelm, but it can also be about saying you're tired from sitting still or socializing or reading and someone says you can't be. Saying you "don't like" an activity you find hard, and having people assume the worst of you.

I haven’t seen this said yet, even though I think it’s vital: if you’re a Neil Gaiman fan who is freaked out by the sexual assault allegations against him, Tumblr and Twitter are not good sources of information.

I spent five minutes looking to see what the public opinion was after reading several articles about this, and there was a lot of misinformation and shaming being done on every side of something that we shouldn’t be arguing over. It’s honestly not worth it to look, and if you’ve been at it for a while, consider taking a break to regroup. There’s a lot of misplaced anger and it sucks to see innocent fans get caught in the crossfire of a situation that, quite honestly, has nothing to do with them.
