You know it. I see the way you look at me and I know, you know. As hard as you’ve tried to stamp it out and ignore it, I have tried harder! I have tried harder than you to be quiet and to forget it and to not bother my family with my problems. But I can’t try anymore because it hurts. I don’t want to be going through this but I am. DAWSON’S CREEK: 2x15 - “… That is the question.”

“Guess we’ll find out,” he replied, licking his lips. Not that Luke had ay opportunity outside these walls to get to know Lia. For the majority he was either on the ice, on the field, or out. He didn’t answer to anyone but himself except when it came to social ties. Being Big Man on campus came with it’s draw backs, mainly not being able to be around those kind of girls. “Lucas,” Luke greeted, “But you can call me Luke, Sweets.” He turned his body so he’d be facing her directly. Her figure a much better view than the drama sets. “You ditching or just coming in?”
“Guess we will,” her lips pulling into a small smile as she leaned back into the less than soft cushion behind her. they ran in similar circle, the popular crowd more so than anything. Watched a few of the hockey games when tori or vanessa would drag her to them, and she knew he was one of the few stars of the team. and while she also rarely saw him around the after parties, or any of the parties thrown, she still kept an eye out, for what reason she didnt know. “but Lucas has such a ring to it dont ya think?” shrugging as she caught his gaze, “both, didnt feel like going to my first class but now im stuck here because I also do not feel like going to the next,”

“don’t tempt me, li!” she responds with a cheeky once-over, doing one final spin in front of the mirror and pushing her boobs up to imagine a little extra va va voom. “it’s been forever since i’ve gone out out, if you can believe it” her entire time in italy she went to one nightclub, and her experiences behind the bar at this new upscale lounge she works at do not count, mostly because she’s forced to stand there in the most dreadfully boring black dress and oftentimes spends her evening deciphering whether the clientele is just being friendly, or trying to invite her to a threesome on the yacht (more common than one might think).
“i was weird for a while about who kept her–” apparently the post partum separation anxiety they tell you about extends both ways. “but now that she has my mom and her dad and welll…i have you, we gotta do something fun and crazy like we used to. enjoy these precious moments before you’re somebody’s wifeyyy” her voice is sugary sweet, with a lilt of amusement as she goes to start the oven. and there’s a smile that sneaks on her lips as she watches the two of them interact. no one ever warned her of what it’d be like to see two people you love most in the world start to love each other too, but she feels like her heart could burst right out of her chest. “bigger everyday, now since she’s babbling jake thinks he can get her to pronounce the names of power tools” she announces with a playful roll of her eyes. it’s way more endearing than she lets on. “well push comes to shove there’ll be plenty of leftovers” she informs fondly, always ends up making more than she needs, blames the italians and their insane portions and being the ones that taught her that dinner was supposed to be an experience. “you gotta catch me up on everything else though, how’s wedding planning? oooh, and when’s the next runway show for your line–i need front row seats!” it shows in her speech, how immensely proud of lia she is for being such a little girl boss, it’d be just as easy to sit around and capitalize off her wealthy fiancé. honestly, she couldn’t blame her if she did, knows from experience that holding onto a man like that can feel like a job of its own. but one thing about their pair, since they were young girls, independent by both nature and design, they know how to get it on their own. and by any means necessary.
“You deserve a good night out, I think we both do, and I can make sure it’s better than some passes towards you about a yacht,” she teased, having heard one or two stories from Toris days behind the bar. Something she had been thinking about, wanting her cousin to make a little extra cash for Veronica. Lia knew Tori loved her freedom, and what she was experiencing, but Lia wanted to bring her a little closer. Having spent so far apart, it was a way for her to spend more time with Tori if she were to maybe offer a position in her company.
“I hear that a lot from moms, and I hear it’s good to keep them close. They’re used to be bundled and wrapped all the time in the womb,” Lia spoke, smiling softly at her niece. And flashes of a little toddler running in and out of frame popped in her head. She could’ve had that, already had a cousin for V, but she choose a different path. And never had she regretted it more than finally getting to meet her niece. “Trust me, I need a day outside of this whole atmosphere, recharge in a way only we know how,” her signature mischievous smile on her face, “you’ll learn soon enough V, I’m the aunt that’s gonna keep you out of trouble,” she spoke softly, already knowing she’d had her back in any situation. “I’m excited to see all this fancy food you’re cooking up, I can only imagine the skills and flavors you’ve picked up,” making her way into the kitchen, placing V in the high chair she had purchased before Tori got back to the states. “Perfect fit, see I know how to plan ahead, and yet everyone doubted me,” Grabbing the bottle that Tori brought, and moving over to the large glass cabinet above the counter. Filled with all sorts of different cocktail glasses for when her and Declan hosted at their place. “I still need your help in the wedding planning, but we’ve got the venue and the date. I set an appointment for dress shopping this weekend, I was hoping you’d come, with V or not.” Bringing Tori glass to her and placing it on the counter, jumping up onto the island to take a seat. “The show is coming along amazing, we need one more model, but we are booked and ready to go in a months time. I can’t believe it’s my third show already, time is fickle. But I guess marrying rich has its benefits in terms of business,” faking a cheers and taking a sip of her drink. Thankful that she had started her business before getting into her relationship. It seemed near impossible to get into something in this world if you marry into it, expected to be almost a perfect housewife and never step out of line. And yet it was still everything she dreamed of since she was a kid.

All Vanessa could do was nod. Of course he’d have some hometown girl by his side, plenty of high school turned frat boys, and a town rallying every game. It was the life people always spoke highly in regards to the Dallas child. She couldn’t imagine the pressure of having the world on her shoulders like that. Her heart immediately dropped hearing the phrase puck bunny. “Oh.” That was all she could manage. It wasn’t her place to feel insecure about other girls, but knowing Dallas played into the idea it only made her feel like Dallas wouldn’t be interested if held out.
She fixed her demeanor, quickly flashing a soft smile and brushing pieces of hair out of her face. Vanessa didn’t want it to seem like it affected her at all. “I would.. very much like that if you could? And I can totally pay you back or bake you waffles or something,” she added sweetly.
The space now closed between them, Vanessa could feel the tension in her body growing as her eyes stayed locked on his lips. She had been thinking about it all night and was practically holding her breath waiting for the moment. “I….” Vanessa’s voice’s attempted before being cut off my his lips. Her small frame wrapped into his arms, Vanessa felt like air being lifted in spirit. Vanessa’s face an obvious flush of red as she pulled away slowly, but still only inches from his lips. “Then I’ll be there.”
He watched her face fall at his words, furrowing his brows in slight confusion. “I like that about you, it’s not a bad thing. The other girls work to hard to get the teams attention, in anyway they can, it’s exhausting. Not knowing what reason they’re talking to you for, or why they’re with us.” He spoke, a soft smile on his lips, “I like the fact you aren’t just throwing yourself into us and into our lives, it’s refreshing. It’s honest,”
Dallas watched her movements, having noticed the piece of hair himself. “I will gladly oblige, and maybe take you up on those waffles. Cheat day of you will,” he sent a wink to her with a small laugh.
He had finally got to kiss her, something he admittedly had thought about more times than just in this room. Holding her gently as he pulled her closer, gently melting into the kiss before she pulled away. He acknowledged the light tint in her cheeks, his eyes immediately finding hers as she spoke, “I’m very glad to hear that,”

once they speakers and outside voices finally seemed to drown out, vanessa realized it really was just her and mike. she knew what the game meant and what most of her friends were planning on doing once they with their respective crushes, but for vanessa the way wasn’t as clear. vanessa wasn’t as comfortable as those around her in being undressed or the catcalling from the boys during gym. boys like mike dallas. it would be a lie to say she didn’t keep her ear somewhat pressed onto the grapevine around Guelph in regards to the boy. vanessa knew the stories, the whispers, and from the way girls swooned just to get a smile there had to be some light to them.
but vanessa didn’t want to let that sway her too much. after all, if that’s what dallas was into or wanted to do––she wasn’t what he wanted. the girls at their school hiked their skirts up, applied make up like walking instagram filters, and tight fitting uniforms. vanessa on the other-hand only had her small size going for her which forced her skirt to be above her knees which the basketball team happily told her time and time again.
right now though, she’d enjoy whatever time she had left with him and go back to day dreaming about him and what she wished she would have had more courage to do during cheer practice. “nice to finally be formally introduced to the myth and legend that is Mike Dallas,” she joked lightheartedly. “are you… are you excited for the game this weekend?”
He enjoyed the air she held around her, something different than the usual people he was used to being around. It was different, he wasnt afraid to admit that. Used to girls openly spilling what they felt to him, or simply throwing themselves at them. He could sense something from her, whether it was nerves or uncomfortableness or simply something else; he wasn’t sure. The words spoke about it him around the halls of degrassi wasn’t anything secret, they weren’t at the top of the food chain quite yet but people still liked to talk.
Dallas wasn’t a stranger to the words spoken about Vanessa through the various sports team. She wasn’t quite like the other girls that were more than ready to let the team do what they wanted. And that intrigued Dallas, something he kept to himself. Not for fear of what his team or the other guys would say around the halls. But because he understood her difference, she was something else around the halls and he enjoyed her presence. Dallas wanted to get to know her more and more as time passed, he just wasn’t sure how to go about it.
He hoped that tonight would span more conversations and times they could be together, but for now he’d take what he could get and at least talk to her. A small chuckle falling from his lips, his tongue licking his lips slightly before nodding. “Excited, and a lil nervous as usual. No matter how many times I’ve done it they’re still there,” he shrugged lightly, “I can only assume you’re joining us all there?”
