I can absolutely see him sobbing if one of his favorite plants die, like there isn't perfect weather to revive it, like he isn't the garden state where literally anything is possible. He will sob and he will do it in front of the other states, he doesn't care if it's "not manly" or "weak" of him, that was his baby damn it!!

The thing with the smell is that it's only the turnpike and really only centered around the Newark area, it honestly isn't noticeable at all once your literally anywhere else (except the swamps going down the shore specifically to WildWood, then it's sorta bad cause it's a fishin area)

Listen he may be very smart (NJ has basically the best educational system in the country) but that doesn't mean he is when it involves him, why keep dirt on himself when he can focus that on others. It does have the downside where he kinda just...forgets certain things, like he is way stronger than he should be and that no it isn't normal to be that obsessed with diners.

(Must say in some weird way this has made me feel better, maybe it's the fact I live here idk lolz)

He’s kinda insecure about the fact that he doesn’t really have a pleasant smell (I’ve been in Jersey once and it wasn’t too bad actually lmao) due to the state itself not really having a pleasant smell

I feel like he gets really really sad whenever a plant dies, especially if he put a lot of effort into trying to help it survive.

He often forgets his own strength and the fact that he’s absolutely jacked and ends up accidentally hurting the other states pretty often.

Aye I'm fine with it, some credit and maybe being asked first but I don't really care. Honestly though go right ahead :D

NJ is strangely really good with hair. And that goes for literally every hair type. Unruly and ruined by bleach like Florida’s? Easy. Wavy and incredibly messy like Texas’s? No problem. Louisiana on the verge of tears cuz his curly ass mess of hair got tangled in the humidity of the summertime and he’s only hurting himself more by trying to brush it? No problemo, NJ will gently and delicately Dutch braid it.

NJ and Loui. Theres something between them. Idk what it is. But there’s something. Potential parental stuff perhaps. But something.

NJ can and will adopt any younger state that gives off "yeah I have parental issues" vibes

But uhm- yes here’s some NJ angst for ya >:D

New Jersey and New York were currently participating in one of their favorite activities to do together. Play fighting! The two have them have always loved play fighting with each other no matter where they were. It was a good way to get out the loads of energy that the two of them had stored up 24/7, and it was quite enjoyable for both.

NJ grunted a little bit as he was headbutted in the chest by NY, who was previously being held in a chokehold. He didn’t let go though, despite NY’s cat-like biting and scratching. He was basically immune to it at this point, being NY’s token scratching post (this is a half joke). The Garden State put in little to no effort when fighting NY, seeing as he was significantly stronger than the latter. That didn’t make the playfighting any less fun though!

That was, until….

New Jersey completely forgot that this was just a play fight, and he threw New York over the couch when he saw the opportunity. See, this would’ve been okay-ish, if NY got up right after. And it would’ve been okay-ish if Jersey didn’t hear a loud whimper along with a thud. Ahhh hell.

He stood there for a minute catching his breath, as well as getting more and more concerned and afraid when his little brother didn’t get up immediately. And he started panicking after hearing the loud whimper. Oh god. Did he actually hurt New York?? What if he did??? Oh god- did NY hate him now???? Was he scared of him maybe???? Either one would be just as bad…. What would the others say if they found out that he hurt a fellow state???? Much more that he hurt his own little brother????? Surely they would hate him….

New Jersey had been so lost in his thoughts that he hadn’t noticed New York calling his name until he felt a gentle bap to the face. He snapped out of it and looked at whoever had just slapped him. New York stood there, with a mildly concerned look on his face. New York stood there. He was okay. Okay. Good. New Jersey would’ve never forgiven himself if he actually hurt his little brother.

"….Jers? Ya good?? We lost ya there for a second." New York said, playfully punching NJ in the shoulder.

"Huh? Oh- yeah- I’m. Im fine."

Based on how New Jersey suddenly found himself pinned to the couch with a hug, New York could tell that that was pure bullsh*t. He wasn’t going to force the Garden State to say anything. He’ll just hug the sadness out of him.

After a few minutes, New Jersey speaks up:

"Did I uhh….. Did I uh- hurt ya by any chance…?"

"No?"

"Mk….. ya sure?? Don’ make me check ya for injuries." New Jersey said sternly, but there was a worried lilt to his voice.

"Jers. I’m fine. Jeez yer soundin a lot like Masshole. Bein’ a mother hen and crap…"

New Jersey just chuckled a bit and laid there comfortably, listening to his little brother’s rambling. He was happy too. That meant that New York okay…..

It's my birthday today! Which I am happy about, I'm 17 which...not so happy about but whatever.

I don't really feel older, honestly I'm kind of just out of it. I suppose it doesn't really feel like my birthday much at all, that happens when you get older right? You feel it less and less? I don't know man I'm spitballin here.

I'm going swimming in a little while, which will be fun, hopefully we're getting OutBack since we haven't in forever and it's my birthday damn it. I originally wanted to go skating today but with me staying up all night and poppy needing to work it just didn't work out, maybe that's why I'm out of it, who knows (I sure don't).

After today the only thing I'm looking forward to is the beginning of the NHL pre-season because OH do I have plans for that AND the season it's self, it's gonna be real fun (so long as I keep up with it).

Anyway, y'all have a good rest of yer day, I'll have a good rest of my B-day, byeeee!!

I have Jersey headcanons and gosh darn it, it's a tad long, so I'm only doing like one page at a time, I'll post the other ones later probably...if I remember. ANYWAY HERE!!

New Jersey

Constantly moving, either tapping his foot or moving his legs, always dancing too, if there’s music he’s moving

He also tends to sing whatever song is on his mind, whether it’s English or not

He knows all of the states comfort foods

Controls the entire StateHouse garden, and is the reason there is a flower garden, if you want a flower in that garden you talk to him to figure out where said flower needs to go and what conditions it needs

He and New Mexico managed to convince Gov to let them have a pool at the StateHouse

When he was learning the south’s comfort foods, he managed to convince Texas to teach him how to make a brisket, yes it’s not really any of the south’s comfort food but it’s a southern thing so of course he needed to learn

When angry he’ll switch into different accents, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, and surprisingly to some, southern

South Jersey is pretty southern, one of his comfort foods is grits

When he hosts NE dinner at his home, he makes sure to add in dishes that are shared favorites

Any and all produce that can be grown in NJ climate, is grown in his back garden with all the accommodation they need

Mafia boss, he doesn’t partake anymore and technically the guy he was is dead but still, the power remains

Used to be a show boy, occasionally still is with Nevada

Just mildly obsessed with roller coasters

During the summer, if he’s not at the shore then he’s most likely at Great Adventure

While it’s not his favorite game, he LOVES to play Just Dance

His room is actually in the south hall instead of the north, he’s between Texas and Oklahoma, he switched with New Mexico because he would have had to be between Penn and Mass and he would rather die than be between that warzone

Has lots of animals on his farm but his favorite are his horses, a few of which he was given by Kentucky

Taught Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio how to play poker and blackjack, the only thing is, is that Jersey taught them how to cheat without them knowing

Jersey never actually cheats in card and money games, he just knows how to play

Stopped talking to Nevada in the 80s because of Atlantic City, Nevada understood it was because they were rivals and also the mafia but it doesn’t stop Jersey from feeling bad about it

Despite what everyone tends to think, Jersey likes to keep to himself and is relativity quiet for the most part, it just so happens that he is normally around people that he either likes (NY, NM, NH, Cali, Rhode, Del) or has strong feelings about (Mass, Penn, NY, Connecticut, Virginia), which makes him loud
