[1] it's getting cold outside. it's has snowed way too much and the gang are literally stuck @ monmouth because it's just much to dangerous to drive home with the amount of snow that has fallen and continues to fall. i dont even know where i'm going with this. i just imagine huge cuddle puddles on gansey's bed, copious amounts of hot chocolate being consumed, noah being banished for a bit cause HE'S mAKING IT COLD! a lot of poking and "who did that's?", sappy platonic love confessions
[2] “i love you all so much i could kiss you” everyone halfheartedly wiggles away from gansey cheek kisses. what a sap. they love him too. adam and blue fall asleep in the cuddles first. gansey and ronan don’t bother continuing much of a conversation after that. they watch the snow fall from the windows until their eyes are too heavy to keep open. Noah makes sure they all have covers on them so they don’t get sick. he loves them so much.
this is so dang cute gdi
i’m so yikes at all the people praising @maggie-stiefvater for the lgbt ship being treated ~so well~ in trk just bc…. the lgbt characters weren’t killed off or turned into trees, and that’s just….. so sad.
as if pynch wasn’t completely treated as an afterthought, because they totally were. their scenes were super short and had no dialogue whatsoever, nor did they have any sort of confession of feelings or clear confirmation of their relationship while the hets got clear i love you’s and official declarations of their relationship to literally everyone and unnecessary drama……….. like i’m super happy that they’re both alive and happy and together and have a little hooved daughter that they love but.
that shouldn’t be our standard. it’s mostly just sad that our expectations are that low that we’re praising an author for sidelining the lgbt ship and treating them nowhere near as well as the straight ship. and again so much of pynch was subtext and extremely subtle stuff that you have to read in between the lines, as it has been since the beginning.
and i don’t even blame any lgbt people for being happy about it bc we’re used to being treated so awfully that we’re basically ecstatic about getting just scraps bc well, it could be so much worse. but stief is nowhere near revolutionary and actually giving good and equal representation and we deserve better (and any straight people praising it just need to shut up, thanks).
i mean, if you can say one positive thing about it, it’s that the two lgbt characters got the strongest and most intricate individual arcs, but as a ship they were absolutely sidelined and underwhelming after all the hype and build up.
the best parts of the tdt outtakes:
when it’s ronan’s turn to take out the trash he takes the bag to kavinsky’s place and dumps garbage all over his lawn and/or car
actual puppy richard campbell gansey iii hoping that blue will notice he’s giving consideration to adam’s work scedule; blue not noticing because she’s too busy fixing her hair
“why can’t you be like you used to be?” / “i don’t know”
gansey, ronan, and noah deciding that the dead nightmare-bird-man thing was too gross to deal with without first showing it to blue and getting the Blue Sargent Stamp of Approval on the fact that it’s gross as hell
ronan looking at jesse dittley’s yard and seeing that all the random debris had been repurposed for flowers and beauty and recognizing that as a sign that blue had been there, how sweet is that
“i was unaware kavinsky was familiar with the nuances of the united states postal service” gansey u are being blackmailed right now pls act like it
ronan quoting ovid at an inappropriate time; adam recognizing it, being “furious” and probably turned on
“ronan,” he’d said, voice tragic, already blaming himself, making it about them and not ronan, “you damn fool”
the entirety of the last scene, which i’m not going to touch with my dirty hands
in conclusion: see you all in hell bc i’m there now
gansey: *sighs dramatically, looking out the window*
ronan: what, is adam late for your nerd circle jerk?
gansey: *face pressed into the glass* yes
THE TRAGEDY OF LOVING A SOLDIER: the battlefield never really leaves them. (you see his hands still shake, finger glued to the trigger) THE TRAGEDY OF LOVING A GENERAL: the battle may be won, but the war never ends. (you watch sleep continue to elude her, eyes dull with grief) they both look at each other as though begging the other to be selfish. (the bloodshed ends, but they never find peace)
