Here’s a wild plot twist

Rick riordan is actually a minor god of writing and his favorite demi god is the son who he wrote a story for, but wait rick riordan got stripped from his godly powers for writing that much about demigods and almost exposing them and also offending the gods in some of his books and now he lives as a mortal with his favorite demigod son and thats why he wrote “the trials of apollo”. Boom. Exposed.

Greek Demigods: Wired for the greek alphabet, they have dyslexia.

Roman Demigods: Wired for roman numerals, but unlike greek demigods they’re used to the latin alphabet, they have dyscalculia.

Norse Demigods: Wired more for norse oral tradition, cause runes weren’t used for much more than simple short messages, they have dysgraphia.

Egyptian Godlings: Constantly being possessed by gods and hosting them in their bodies, they have issues with disassociation

He lives as far away from the castle as possible 

But his children, Nico and Hazel, live in the castle 

He had another daughter, Bianca, but she died of illness a couple of years back 

Zeus’ advisor, Athena, is well known for her intelligence, but also her coldness and detachedness 

Her daughter, Annabeth, tries to copy her, but is too full of energy 

Bellona and Ares are co-incharge of the army 

But while they have a rivalry, Reyna and Frank, their respective children, get along very well 

Ares’ daughter, Clarisse, stays clear of them both 

Hermes is the messenger 

He has twins, Conner and Travis, who are full of life and are loved by the court 

But his eldest son, Luke, is known for being bitter and hating the monarchy system 

Aphrodite is a wealthy lady, and cousin to the king- so she lives in the castle 

She’s followed around everywhere by her handmaidens: Silena, Drew, Piper and Lacy

Apollo is both the healer and the court entertainer

The most notable is Will, who has noticeable talent as a healer

They are rivalled only by the army set up by Bellona’s eldest daughter, Hylla 

Demeter is a prominent farmer and is in charge of the country’s produce 

But her daughter, Meg, runs havoc throughout the castle 

Hephaestus runs the forges and armoury 

His son, Leo, will take over someday and, though he is a trouble-maker, is amazing 

Posiedon’s son, Tyson, also has a passion for the forges 

Dionysius is that one drunk guy that no one likes 

Chiron is the tutor Zeus’ children, but tutors the other children in the castle, too 

And over the sea there is that warring-country of Valhalla 

And no one is ever quite sure what goes over in the pyramid-land. They don’t even know its name.

Rick Riordan is so savage like he made it seem like his books were just gonna be like every other kids series out there and then once he’s ensared all these people into reading this world he’s created, he adds a gay couple that actually gets more than just a mention or two, a genderfluid character that is shown to be an utter badass and as capable and human as anyone else, and a Muslim girl who despite literally being involved with the Norse gods, still keeps her faith and religion close to heart. He even made the choice to give Apollo a backstory that envolved love stories with both men and women. He knew that if he included all these things from the start that not as many people would have read it, so he waited until there was an entire world filled with these characters you‘d grown to love, and then added ones that may have detered you from reading the very first book had that character been in it. And yet because you’re already so enthralled in this storyline of mythology, it doesn’t matter that the characters are different. Of course there are going to be those people who drop out, but for those who stay, you’re teaching that representation matters. That even in a world filled with demigods and valkyrie and all sorts of mythological beings, being like those characters that were added is perfectly alright. It’s more normal than Mount Olympus being at the top of the Empire State Building. Imagine what kind of effect that’s going to have on the kids who grow up with Magnus Chase and Trials of Apollo. They’re going to look at characters like Alex or Sam or Nico, and they’re going to think, “I wish I could be just like them.” Rick Riordan is a legend and you cannot argue otherwise.

I like the idea of Nico taking up his roman title “The Ambassador of Pluto” as his job and becoming Hades’ liaison for other afterlives; negotiating for disputed souls, solving territorial issues, presenting conflict resolutions, signing treaties and accords, getting to know the other gods, their helpers and the most important inhabitants of each afterlife (maybe even make friends that way). 

And obviously, he gets to stay, as an honored guest, for all the ceremonies and feasts, and see different traditions, so he ends up being quite worldly.  But also consider:

Nico visiting the Norse Valhalla- Magnus: Oh, so you’re a greek demigod? My cousin is a greek demigod too! You might know her, Annabeth Chase?  Nico: What a coincidence… 

Nico visiting the Egyptian Hall of Judgment- Osiris: Meet my daughter Sadie, she is not dead, just passing by. Sadie Kane: Oh, so you’re a greek demigod? I have a very good friend who is a greek demigod too! You might know her, Annabeth Chase? Nico: Okay what the Fuck?
