And now, a brief yet pathetic looking-for-sympathy note:

The 南疆山匪 (southern border mountain bandits??) arc is So Hard for me! It’s all “This character who is a friend of that character who you just met is laying a trap for this other character who is a friend of yet another character that you have Not yet met yet, plot plot convoluted plot” with absolutely no kissing and practically no pining and this is exactly why I am re-reading 杀破狼 Stars of Chaos while making a chapter-by-chapter Notes document of Romance Only for future rereads.

My 杀破狼 Romance Only Notes only have a couple of paragraphs from Ch 40, and it doesn’t look like I’ll have much from Ch 41.

This is taking too much discipline to read.

Priest, give me less massacring and more Mutual Magnetism!

My new favorite passage describing a character is from ch 337 of 2Ha, describing Jiang Xi:

他的打扮永远让人觉得他在说：“我很有钱，欢迎来抢”，但是没有人抢得了他。

His style of dressing always led people to feel he was saying, “I am very rich. You are welcome to rob me,” but no was ever able to rob him.

他那张俊脸上好像也写着：“想睡我吗，我知道你想”，但没有人能睡得了他。

That handsome face of his also seemed to announce “You want to sleep with me. I know you want to,” but no one was ever able to sleep with him.

(Translations are mine. You can tell because they are very bad and don’t convey just how clever this passage is. Translating is hard!)

Regarding May 12 Dracula Daily / Re: Dracula,

SO! Cloaks do not “spread out like great wings” when you’re crawling face-down the side of a building UNLESS you have arranged some hooks or clips or some such to keep the cloak in place.

I wanna see Dracula getting annoyed at his cloak, which keeps falling over his head when he’s climbing downward head-first, Until he finally devises some method to attach the cloak to his wrist and waist / thighs / ankles, which cleverly keeps the cloak spread out on his back despite the best efforts of gravity.

Can anyone here draw? Or has anyone already done this? Please point me to the right place!

the 7s translators for spl and guardian have mentioned pipi editing the manuscript for physical eng publication before tho! this would explain why there's so much discrepancy between the online pirated version you're reading and the official eng print

I rather prefer the online pirated version, probably since I lived in that book for, like, ❤️a year❤️, but I guess that makes sense.

I spent a fair potion of my formative years idolizing Frank Frazetta / his artwork. He gave hope to all those who didn’t look like modern-day wraith-thin models. Though you have to do a Lot of working out to look like His models. Time to go do some push-ups!

older lotr illustrations sometimes depict éowyn wearing ridiculously small armour. apart from the problem general sexualisation of the only female character (who really does anything), there’s another hilarious thought:

éowyn pretended to be dernhelm, a man. to fit in, she must have worn men’s armor. so the armor in the illustrations is normal for rohirrim.

therefore, all the rohirrim rode to war just like that:

As I’m preparing my copy of MDZS to lend out, I’m re-reading about how crazy and difficult it is to translate XianXia.

Of course, I can’t share any of these posts with my uninitiated friends, since even the Name meta contains a spoiler. Ugh!
