Behind the name [OC Lore]

WILLOW "OSWALD" PELEKAI

FIRST NAME:

There's really nothing behind the name "Willow." I found it a cute and fitting name for Oz. I did research around the name afterwards, and Willow Trees have biblical meanings of Loss and Hope as well as deep rooting in God, which, fits her being Christian and her past.

CODE NAME:

"Oswald" was a name given to her by her former Captain, Oscar "2-Bit" Watts. 2-Bit had always loved Disney and thought the character Oswald fit Oz well. They met while she was a pilot in the Airforce. He was the only member of the Army, especially one of his rank, to really give her respect. Though she hated the name at first, it grew on her.

(Heres some connections between Oz and the Lucky Rabbit:)

• Flight- Oswald the character uses his ears to fly, which corresponds with Oz being a pilot.

• Her hair- Since Oz leaves her hair in double braids, 2-Bit and her team would often joke that her hair resembled bunny ears.

• Luck and Loss- Like the Lucky Rabbit, Oz doesn't see herself as "lucky." She lost more than she's gained. Though she constantly makes it out alive when she should be dead; she always feels like she losses a part of herself each time.

LAST NAME:

"Pelekai", believe it or not, is the last name of my grandma. It's also the last names of Lilo and Nani. I thought it was a suitable fit for Oz.

• "Pele" is the Hawaiian goddess of Fire and Lava. She's also my favorite Hawaiian god. If you grew up learning Hawaiian mythology, you'll learn that other than Maui; Pele is also responsible for the creation of land when she fought her sister Namaka, Goddess of the Ocean. It's my prefered story of how land was made in the Pacific compared to Maui fishing the lands out the ocean.

• "Kai" means Ocean. Ocean is an important aspect of Hawaiian life. I mean, you're surrounded by it. So put the two together you get, "Fire Ocean" or "Ocean of Fire."

Oswald: *Randomly breaks the silence with full seriousness* A widow was at her husbands funeral

Soap: What?

Oswald: A man came up and asked if he could say a few words. The widow says "sure, go ahead." So the man leans down and says to the dead husband, "Plethora."

Soap: ....

Oswald: The widow says, "thanks, that means a lot..."

Soap:

Ghost: Pfft-

Soap: I'm going with Price next time

Ghost and Gaz in the kitchen eating beans on toast:

Oswald walking in grabbing an empty bowl: Oh hey

Gaz mentally preparing himself for the classic American banter: Hey Oz-

Oswald: Yo can you pass me the can?

Ghost: Okay?

Oswald: *proceeds to dump the whole can of pork n beans in her rice*

Gaz: WTF-

Ghost: Beans on rice?

Oswald: I grew up poor in Oahu, so let me enjoy my food in peace

Gaz: But rice?

Oswald: Its a local comfort food. Plus, both are just beans on carbs anyways

Ghost: She has a point

Soap walking in: You're all disgusting

Price: So as we know, terrorist groups have been hijacking American transported weapons as well as distributing them to other organizations in Latin America.

Oswald: Gee I wonder why...

Graves: Why am I being targeted here?!

Farah: Oh, so the failure to transport deadly American missiles wasn't your fault?

Graves: It's not my fault our artillery is so valued

Price, Oswald and Farah: *Stares at Graves with a deadpan expression*

Graves: In every meeting its always like this...Remind me why I come to these things in the first place?

Price: So we can clean up your messes

Oswald nodding in agreement: Sorry Graves but your shady organization hasnt been so lucky as of late. I mean how do you fail a job so badly?

Farah adding on: Then have the audacity to cover it up and backstab the allies who helped you track down those missiles?

Graves getting up and walking out: I see that my efforts here is not needed as well as my presence. I wish you all luck on todays meeting

Price: Great, I'm sure Shepard would appreciate your absence

Graves slowly walking back into the room: Lets just get this over with...I hate you all...

Price: My teams great. We have our laughs, we protect each other with our lives. Theres a mutual trust between all of us.

Soap screaming in the background: WHICH ONE OF YE BASTARDS PUT YE FILTHY HANDS ON MY LUNCH?!

Gaz: IT WASNT ME THIS TIME I SWEAR!

Ghost: OH, SO IT WASN'T YOU THE LAST TIME MY TEA WAS SPIKED?

Soap, Gaz and Ghost screaming and tearing each other apart outside Price's office:

Price sipping his tea: This team will kill me faster than any bullet.

Mana: Is stabbing someone immoral?

Smokes: Not if they consent to it

Dice: Depends on who you're stabbing

Oswald: It's not if it's an accident

Laswell: YES???

I clown on the British, but I think beans on toast is an ok meal. I grew up with pork n beans on rice and thought that was the epitome of culinary.
