Adam Frankenstein
(a.k.a. The Creature)
2.5 (?) - he/him - 8"0 - Pisces
After burning down the DeLacey's family cottage, the creature saves the life of a woman after she nearly drowns in a river rapid, but he's shot by her male companion and fleas further into the woods. Injured and alone he resolves to find his creator to demand justice, but his plans change when the woman he saved returns to thank him. Now he finds himself in unfamiliar territory with someone who isn't afraid of his appearance and wants to be his friend.
Evelyn Shaw
23 - she/her - 5"5 - Scorpio
Having grown up in a remote farming community, Evelyn only had her siblings and books for escape from the dullness of her day to day life. Possessing a passionate and independent soul, she never thought she'd meet someone who understood her. But that all changes when she falls into a river and is saved by a mysterious man with piercing yellow eyes. Knowing he's somewhere out there terribly injured she sets out to thank him for rescuing her.
More of Adam and Evelyn! Loved drawing out these cute little interactions between them. It gave me time to work on their difference in size and hone in on facial features. Hope you guys like them!
Work in progress for Adam and Evelyn drawing. Love drawing a flustered Adam <3!
He got a new hairstyle <3
Yes, those are daisies, a little nod to the classic movie versions of frankenstein’s monster. (Bought a new procreate brush set for the stitches and scars).
This is a title card I’ve been toying with for the past month. It might change in the future, but I’m happy with it for now. Let me know if you wanna know more about this story or the characters!
Been working on a comic concept for my creature artwork. Here’s just a small interaction between Adam and Evelyn. Hope you like it!
So here me out, if Victor's description of the creature as beautiful when he was making him is true, and Walton’s description of the creature as a hideous monster upon seeing him at the end of the novel is true, perhaps the creature’s appearance changes as a reflection of how he’s treated.
I believe that the creature appears hauntingly beautiful (as beautiful an 8ft man made from the body parts of dead people could be) when he’s brought into the world, but as he faces constant rejection from mankind and is treated as a monster, his looks begin to reflect his perception of himself. And as his innocence is corrupted and he chooses to act like the monster society sees him as, the creature’s appearance gradually degrades. By the end of Frankenstein, he’s killed four people in his quest for acceptance and has trekked through the arctic, so he looks just like the wretched daemon that Victor always said he was.
…this all to ask, if he was treated with kindness and love would he slowly start to look more human?
I said I was gonna do it… and I did.
"I ought to be thy Adam; but I am rather the fallen angel"
I wanted to try drawing a more book accurate version of Adam, because I personally interpret him as being REALLY uncanny. Like, Victor specifically chose what he believes to be the most perfect parts of him, right? And if we're playing into his ego and genius a bit, then obviously his work would turn out perfect... TOO perfect, one might say. So beautiful, it makes all those who see him have their fight or flight responses triggered. It looks human... That thing is NOT human.
ALSO OTHER DOODLES!! YIPPEEEEEEE
Little tangent, particularly on the topic of Adam's (Frankenstein's Monster's) wife.
So a little thing I've been doing when it comes to her is giving her a name, obviously, and I've seen people give her names which is mighty cool. But what I PERSONALLY call her depends entirely on if she accepts, or rejects Adam.
Simply put it, I like to call her Lilith if she rejects him (which is often the case), or Eve if she accepts him (never gonna happen bro, she's gotten learn what language even is first)
ANYWHO, this is just my little headcanon. :]
I have risen from the dead cause some fucking 20 year old doctor had an ego
Did I mention I love Mary shellys Frankenstein
if victor is the creature's literal father, then by extension the female creature would have been the creature's literal sister. by choosing to break his promise and destroy the bride, victor is breaking the cycle of abuse by refusing to comply to the demand that he dictate a marriage between siblings, like his mother did to him and elizabeth.
[DNI if: approx. 8 foot tall, yellow skin, shriveled complexion, straight black lips, flowing hair, teeth of a pearly whiteness, watery eyes] [TW: mentioned graverobbing, unethical science, parental abandonment, child death, murder]
she franken on my stein till i beautiful! great god! his yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun-white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips.
in all of the frankenstein analysis ive read here, be it you interpret the creature as ugly or only uncanny valley or just a baby with scary eyes, ive not once seen someone mention this line, just after the creature’s awakening:
like?? this should be pivotal, shouldn’t it? that victor acknowledged that the creature was ugly before he brought him to life?

say what you will about victor, but upon victor and the creature’s first real meeting, note that victor first sympathizes with the creature by discerning his feelings, before he makes any remark on his physical appearance:
because frankenstein: a new musical content is elusive as all hell, i’ve created a comprehensive list of all the boots, clips, images, interviews, rehearsals, instrumentals, etc. that i could find that i thought were interesting (2007 original cast, with hunter foster as victor) including boots of four full songs!
none of these are mine/were taken by me, just a compilation of things i found and thought were interesting :+) feel free to comment or message me directly with any errors, suggestions, additions, or anything i missed! here’s the link:

yes victor is an unreliable narrator, and yes we should take this into consideration when we are analyzing the plot and his character and actions. howEVER he is just one of three unreliable narrators, and cherry-picking and dismissing or discrediting whatever victor says when it suits your argument is just plain silly. you could just as easily apply that same logic to the creature, or to walton, and at that point why believe anything anyone says in the novel in the first place? of course there’s inconsistencies in a narration recounted years after these events took place, and of course it is colored by moments of bias where the truth or level of exaggeration of his statements are debatable, and analyzing these moments can be interesting and important! but there comes a point where you have to suspend disbelief and take things that are said at face value. else you wind up picking apart throwaway lines, or quotes taken out of context, and your argument just becomes nitpicky and unfounded, particular in a book that is already filled with plot holes/inconsistencies. give this man some grace
victor frankenstein the type of guy to say “the world just wasnt ready for my ideas” and the idea was an 8-foot tall homonculus he constructed out of graverobbed body parts
