reblog linguistics this is a fascinating discussion i dont have much to add so im keeping it in the tags i dont think we have as strong of an accent divide in Australia but its definitely still there among the “regular” accents i have never noticed much of a difference and haven't seen people comment on it BUT i think there is somewhat of a negative correlation with broad Australian accents the idea of “bogans” could be argued to be a little classist considering most of them are farmers and the like not exactly rich ykyk anyway aussies make fun of bogans pretty often sooo yeah thats my contribution
