when you watch the mp100 anime you get total whiplash when you switch gears to check out the manga holy shit
the way reigen quit smoking because mob started hanging out at the office. and actually gives really really good advice. and helps mob with his powers. and his confidence. and still helps his customers even though it’s not the way they think. and is. IS A GENUINELY GOOD GUY.
he’s actually one of my all time favorite anime characters. he’s the only character i’ve ever heard say “it’s okay to run away” and he literally attacks extremely powerful antagonists who could easily kill him just because he doesn’t want kids to have to fight / mob to use his powers to hurt people.

The thing is all characters are plot devices. All characters are created to tell a story and to progress that story. Within the telling of that story any created character has no agency. They are at the whims of the writer. So saying you dislike a character because they feel like a plot device is kind of redundant. I'm not saying you should like Law. It's perfectly fine to not like him, especially with that point you made about not relating to him. Being able to relate to a character is the biggest reason why most people would like said character.

I don't really like law all that much like the rest of the strawhats or other side characters (like Bartolomeo that guy is a riot). Don't get me wrong his df is cool as hell and his backstory is really good, I just didn't connect to his as much as the rest of the crew. He came off as a standoffish plot device in a way. Maybe that'll change later in wano arc but idk I'm kinda indifferent on him for the time being. Idk law stans what am I missing lmao

ok so I haven't gotten any time to really watch a lot of the whole cake arc but here are my thoughts

-the conflict with Luffy and Sanji really hit me hard
-Luffy really went "babe imma be there just give me a sec I got put in prison and cussed out a big woman"
-the end of the conflict tho sniff my heart why did you do this to me
-AND THEN SANS SHOWS UP fucking katakuri comes in with his cool ass cowboy boots like dhdjfjf
-He looks sick and I can't wait to see him
-literally thought big mom and brook were gonna bone and I'm glad they didn't but we don't know what went down behind those door man
The continuity of this makes my brain hurt and WE WOULD NEVER BE BLESSED WITH COOL COWBOY HAT ROBIN THE TRAGEDY

Mini rant because the whole cake arc is hitting me like a truck rn:
I always thought Sanji after the time skip kinda sucked since his gag of being a huge simp hit a high during the fishman island arc.
I'm pretty sure it was a way to write out chopper and sanji until the end to focus on the other strawhats but it still bothered me a bit.
He's cool when he wants to be and it was really prominent in enbies lobby. His simp gag was portrayed in a better way where he refused to fight the bubble lady due to his principles.
His gag gets dragged a little too much in time skip imo. I still like his character but I feel like I had to get that out of the way
Gonna go and watch him suffer in this arc tho ahaha
