Gothic Western is one of my favorite sub-genres to sit with and enjoy. Now, I have started Preacher based on several recommendations but when I went to watch it Netflix played the last episode first and I was ignorant to the fact until pretty far in, so I had the a lot of the ending spoiled. I want to go back but I find the motivation hard to find. Also, special mention to Penny Dreadful and Supernatural for being super formative for Dead West but neither really sits firmly within Western Gothic.
Inspired by our friends @theholmwoodfoundation who posted theirs here as well. Be sure to check out their show! If you do, leave them a rating/review and let them know the team from Dead West sent ya!
So here is our presentation on why YOU should listen and support The Dead West Podcast!

Bram Stoker's Dracula, 1992.
(ok, i should learn how to make edits shorter)
β¨π§π»Happy Dracula Day!!!π§π»β¨
Bram Stoker's novel enjoyed considerable success at the time of its publication, but the vehicle that really propelled Dracula to worldwide fame was the staggering number of cinematic adaptations.
Dracula is still used as a model for the development of countless characters from the most varied segments. From horror, romance, and even action, Dracula is a versatile figure.
With its pale skin, sharp fangs and pointed ears or a handsome face free of stereotypical features, the bloodsucking monster has persisted as the embodiment of the vampire archetype for over a century.
I wish I could round up all the faces that played him, but that's a big list. So here are some more names that brought Dracula to life:
β’ Frank Langella (Dracula, 1979).
β’ Leslie Nielsen (Dracula, 1995).
β’ Rudolf Martin (Buffy, 2000).
β’ Gerard Butler (Dracula, 2000).
β’ George Hamilton (Dracula, 1979).
β’ Adam Sandler (Hotel Transylvania, 2012).
β’ Nicholas Cage (Renfield, 2023).
