Theodore Roosevelt Jr. - Born in 1858, he was an American statesman, author, explorer, soldier, naturalist and reformer who served as the 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909. He organized a cavalry of volunteers, known as the Rough Riders, gained notoriety in the Battle of San Juan Heights. Roosevelt is known for his anti-monopoly stance and his “Square Deal” reform of working conditions for Americans. He was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts that led to an end in the Russo-Japanese war. He is also known for his environmental efforts and for creating the national park service.
