Meena was in her dressing room, taking a breather. She had been performing in Mr. Moon's theater for a little over a year now. She still suffered from panic attacks, but not nearly as bad as she did at the very beginning and she had Mr. Moon to thank for that.
He was the one who pushed her to be all that she could be. He helped her find her confidence and helped her learn to believe in herself.
"Don't let fear stop you from doing the thing you love." He had said. And she she tried to live by that qoute. If not for Buster, she'd never had gotten the confidence to ask out Alfonso.
Her phone dinged and she peered at home and smiled.
Speaking of which. She opened a message and saw he had sent a photo of him holding her favorite ice cream with the caption "thinking of you" with heart emojis following after.
A soft knock at her door brought her back from her thoughts and she fumbled with her phone before calling out "come in!".
The door opened and Johnny walked in. "Hey, Meena, got a second?" He asked.
"Sure, Johnny, what's up?" Meena asked as he took a seat in a secluded chair reserved for anyone who might wish to sit and chat.
"Has Mr. Moon been acting strange to you?"
Meena blinked, taken back. She racked her brain, trying to remember the past week and how her boss and mentor had changed. "I know he hasn't been sleeping well. And gets really jumpy. I tried to ask him a question last week and nearly jumped out of his skin. Told me I shouldn't sneak up on people like that. He laughed it off, but I could tell he looked really nervous."
"Sams thing happened with me and him yesterday. Me and Nooshy were performing and he came in. Nooshy was just messing around, so I really didn't think about it till this morning, but she was spinning around and grabbed Mr. Moon by the coat and lifted him up. Now that I think about it, he looked really scared."
Johnny stopped as his mind traveled back to Crystal Tower's Theater. He remembered when Mr. Crystal suddenly appeared and grabbed Buster from them. They were watching Rosita's part of the show when Buster was taken up the lift. Johnny remembered hiw he tried in vain to cry out to his boss.
And when Jimmy dropped him...
Johnny turned away from Meena and shut his eyes as he felt tears suddenly form. Never had he felt so useless. He had half a mind to jump after him, but before he could, Rosita swung in to save the day. From his view on the platform, he watched her swing in and clutch the koala tightly to her chest before releasing him gently onto another platform. Johnny felt his knees buckle in relief as he mentor and friend sat up, seemingly physically unharmed.
But mentally? That seemed another matter.
Another knock interrupted them and the two turned to see Miss Crawley walking in with two cups of tea. "You two have been working extra hard today, so I thought you'd need a little pick-me-up."
"Thank you, Miss Crawley." The two young adults said in unison.
"Miss Crawley? How long have you known Mr. Moon?" Johnny asked.
Miss Crawley wriggled her hands a bit. "Oh my, a long time. I was friends with his father." She said.
"You were?"
"Oh yes. His father was like a son to me. I knew Buster's mother as well."
Johnny and Meena exchanged glances. Never once had Buster's mother been brought up in conversation. As far as they were concerned, his mother had passed shortly after he'd been born and it'd just been he and his dad.
Miss Crawley continued. "Actually I knew his mother before I knew his father. She and her family were my friends." The old lizard took a deep breath. "First his mother passed, complications with his birth and then his father. Years of washing cars led him to get bad bouts of pneumonia. One year... he finally succumbed, leaving only Buster and his theater and I became his only family." She then looked up and smiled. "Till he met you all."
Johnny took her hand in his and gave it a tight squeeze. "I was... I was so afraid... that I was going to lose Buster too. That night in Red Shore?" She said, softly.
Johnny hugged the older lady tightly before she cleared her throat. "I better go and finish with the tea." She gave them each a small smile and a pat on each of their cheeks before exiting the room.
After she had gone, Meena remembered her experience. She watched Johnny as he prepared to jump after him. Before she could stop him, she saw Rosita. The whole ordeal was traumatic and terrifying.
When Buster joined them again, she was the first to grab him into a big hug, nearly breaking his back in the process. When the curtain call came, they all gestured for Buster to join them. Rosita and Gunter stood on either side of him and Meena could just catch the relief in their eyes as they shared a look, each taking a paw of Buster's.
She couldn't imagine what they felt from their standing point.
~
Gunter remembered how he felt. From his spot on stage, he was watching Porsha practice her moves, but his mind was elsewhere, back in the city.
It was their part of the show and in the midst of trying to comfort Rosita, he saw that her focus was no longer on her fear, but on something else.
SomeONE else.
He followed her gaze and his heart turned to water. Buster was falling. Faster and faster.
With no hesitation at all, Rosita forgot her fear, forgot her worries and ran straight off the platform. Her focus was now Buster.
Gunter had remainedon the ship, trying desperately to control it, to make it returnto the ground so that he can see Buster for himself. Then he saw Rosita, flying through the air, a smile lightining up her face as she sang her heart out. Gunter risked a glance and saw Buster, safe and making his way back to the group.
As soon as he was safe, Gunter felt so relieved, so happy, he burst into song and together he and Rosita performed their act, flying around the theater, singing to the music and gliding to the rhythm.
When they met back to do the curtain call, it took everything Gunter had not to drop kick the white coated wolf as he walked out, claiming Buster's success as his own. He wanted nothing more then to show that total jerk dinkkesplat what dirt taste like. Matter of fact, he could tell by the grip Johnny had on his hand that he was feeling the same. But instead of making a scene, the group decided to humiliate him by leaving him to be laughed at by his public. They watched as he was escorted out by police officers, Gunter silently cursing the wolf in his native language.
"Earth to Gunter!"
The dancer snapped out of his thoughts and noticed Porsha trying to get his attention.
"Vhat? Oh! Very nice!" He praised, trying to force a smile.
Porsha bowed, dramatically as she twirled off to practice once, leaving Gunter with his thoughts.
How could Porsha be related to such a cold-hearted ass- jerk? Sure, she a bit dramatic, maybe even a bit of a spoiled wild-child, but she was still a kid. 18, Gunter guessed. 2 years younger then Ash. She was still learning.
~
Rosita remembered the shock.
She remembered the fear as well. The fear she had when she looked down into the vortex. But when she saw Buster falling, it became a whole new fear. A fear of losing one of her closest friends, a fear of losing a member of her family.
That fear was greater then her fear of heights. She could faintly hear Gunter calling her name, but she ignored it. Her only focus was saving her friend, her brother. She had a title for her little family. Buster and Gunter were her brothers, Ash, Meena and Johnny were her kids and Miss Crawley, wonderful Miss Crawley was her mother figure.
As soon as she leapt off that platform, her arms reached out, frantically holding them out for the little koala. When he was in reach, she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him close to her chest, holding him tightly, afraid to let go. Afraid if she let go, she'd lose him. Another platform neared and, as gently as she could, she released him and continued the show, as he would have wanted.
When they met on stage, she wanted to hug him again, hold him close.
More so, she wanted to take a bat to Jimmy's head and beat him to a pulp.
She remembered as they were bowing on the stage, when Crystal appeared, taking credit for Buster's work, she remembered when his grip tightned and he attempted to pull away. So while Jimmy was addressing the crowd, Rosita scooped up Buster and they rushed back stage to leave Jimmy to be humiliated. She could hear Gunter muttering in his language. She didn't need to speak it to know he was practically cussing Jimmy out.
A mom just knows.
Normally, she wouldn't approve, but under the circumstances, she wasn't against uttering a few swears herself.
Once backstage, she finally gave him a once over. Checking him for broken bones, bruises, in case Jimmy had hurt him before hurtling him off a platform. Buster wasn't able to calm her down till she had satisfied herself that he was okay, physically anyway. It never occurred to her, in that moment, how mentally he would have been affected.
On their way home, she and Buster never got a chance to talk about what happened. In all honesty, she didn't quite know where to begin.
She wasn't sure Buster knew either. It was clear he was avoiding the subject altogether.
Rosita frowned as she stood, her mind made up.
It was time for that talk. She left the practice area and headed up the stairs to her friend's office. Surprisingly she found the door closed. Buster had an open door policy, the only exceptions being he had a meeting or a very important phone call. Rosita put her ear to the door and listened. When no sound came, she knocked.
Silence.
"Buster?" She called.
Silence once more.
She wondered if he had stepped out, but she never saw him come back down the stairs. Anxiety started building up in her chest as she opened the door and peaked in. The office appeared empty, but, Like Nana, Rosita was familiar with Buster's usual hiding places. She first checked behind the couch and then under the desk. Then she sat on his chair and knocked on his drawer. There was a small scuffle before the drawer inched it's way open and familiar, gray fluffy ears popped from within.
Buster looked started for a moment. "Rosita! Is something wrong?" He asked, plastering a smile and attempting to look busy.
"Yes. We've been avoiding a certain subject. And I'd like to bring it to light." Rosita said.
Buster groaned inwardly. He wasn't ready for this. Not yet. "Rosita, the show is in 2 days. Can we discuss this afterwards?" Hoping that was the end of it, Buster leapt out of his drawer and began walking towards the door.
Rosita quickly followed and grabbed his arm.
"Buster-"
What followed next told Rosita the exact amount of damage that was caused.
As soon as she took hold of his arm, Buster went into full panic. Having not recovered from his last episode, Buster yanked his arm from Rosita's grip in pure fear. In doing so, he stumbled and fell against his desk. He closed his eyes and wrapped his large ears around whilst pulling his legs close to his chest. His whole body began to shake violently and he began mumbling. Both fear and embarrassment overwhelmed him. He tried with some difficulty to hide his emotions, but today that just wasn't the case. And Rosita was the last person he wanted to witness his panic attacks. For goodness sake, she saved his life! He should be comforting her! He should he thanking her! But the words wouldn't come as he sat, attempting to hide himself behind his ears.
Rosita stood in shock. This wasn't just simple nightmares. This was PTSD. This was pure fear. Buster was reliving his near death experience.
Rosita pulled her hand to her chest as she watched her friend grow smaller, if possible. She felt tears form, blaming herself for this most recent attack.
Regaining her composure, she got down on her knees and attempted to match Buster's height as she edged her way to the koala. "Buster? It's Rosita... can I move in closer?"
No reply.
Rosita took this as a sign of approval. She got close enough to lay a paw on his shoulder. One of Buster's paws reached up and grasped hers. They sat for a moment before Rosita gradually moved in closer. Buster, his eyes still shut, allowed her to gently pick him up and cradle him as if he were a child, her child. He weighed less then one of her piglets and Rosita could guess it was because of his recent eating habits. Even in Red Shore, Buster had trouble finding his appetite. Nearly a month's worth of lack of meals was taking it's toll in his new weight loss. Trying to keep Mr. Crystal happy, keep his group safe and away from his wrath and doing his best to make sure the show was just as meaningful as the name it was given had taken much of his energy and time.
The Showman let out a shuddering breath as sudden exhaustion swept over him. Weeks of sleepless nights was finally taking it's toll. Rosita could feel his body shaking, but the longer she held him, the faster the shaking ceased. Buster sniffled and burried his head in her chest and she slowly rocked him as the panic attack gradually subsided.
Content on staying, Rosita sat as Buster fell into a deep slumber, possibly his first real sleep in weeks.
She could feel his heart beat as it began to beat in unison with her own, still beating wildly in his chest, but not nearly as bad as it had been a few moments ago.
She thought back to thay moment she saw him falling. Everything in that time span was forgotten. The show, the crowd, her fear of heights, everything. The only thing she saw was Buster falling to the ground below. The fall was enough to kill any animal, let alone this small koala. Her own body shook with the dreaded question that had been keeping her up for days.
What if she missed?
What if she hadn't jumped?
The thought was horrifying. She could see his body, on the ground, not moving.
She tightened her embrace, allowing her breaths to fall in sync with her friend. Her brother's.
She told herself the same thing she'd been telling herself all week. Buster was alive and here with her, with all her friends. She hadn't failed him.
Rosita wrapped her arms around the small frame in her lap and gave him a mama-bear kiss on the tuft of fur atop his head as she tightened her embrace, once more, afraid to let him go.
"You're safe, Buster." She whispered. "You're okay."
Story is not over yet. The healing process is just beginning.
He is insomniac 😞

Hi @biaweck. I just got word that you are doing a Sing Asks series and I read the post, so I decided to give this a shot. But anyways, let's get down to business.
PS: I hope I did this right
To keep things busy, I decided to create a new series:
✨Sing Asks✨
In this series you will ask questions to the Sing characters and I will make a post with the character answering your question or request.
If you want to ask a question, the options for how to do so are:
•Do a ask
•Reblog this post
•Make a post tagging me
Don't worry if you can't do asks, just use one of the other options mentioned :D
I LOVE THE SING MOVIE FRANCHISE!! WOOHOOO!!!!!
Love those characters!! Although, Big Daddy/Marcus is the best one in my opinion. Great Job!!!
Love this story! What a Powerful Message!!
This piece brought me out of my comfort zone in more ways than one.
Love yourself. Believe me, I know it's hard, I have trouble doing so myself. But like Amelia, you have people who think you're beautiful.
How on earth was this possible? Good work!
Amelia's alive
I guess if they saw it, they would definitely save Buster Moon. Love it!!
Rosita and the gang if they had known about Crystal's threats.
Just a quick sketch.
Love this art piece and Story!!!
Buster's muscles were aching by the time he came to an abandoned alley way.
He cursed to himself for not knowing Porsha's home address. She always visited them.
Maybe he could find Crystal Entertainment? Surely either Porsha or Suki Lane will be in office?
After searching nearly an hour, with no success in finding a phone, Buster finally slumped on a bench and sighed. He had no money for a taxi or even food. "There's only one thing to do." He said to himself as he jumped up. "Start walking."
He then began and started to cross the busy road along with other pedestrians. He was halfway to the other sidewalk when animals began to scream and scattered the street. Buster whipped around just to see a great bus heading towards him. With a mighty hiss, it came to a stop right in front of Buster. The koala swallowed before his world went black.

"Eddie, you've been pacing nearly an hour. Care to tell us what's on your mind?" Rosita said.
The group was gathered backstage. Marcus and his team had arrived shortly after Rosita contacted them. Berry and Stan were working on the security system whilst Marcus sat in on the conversation.
Eddie stopped in his tracks, his back facing the others. "I, well I called someone who I think can help."
"Who?" Ash asked.
"Amelia Homes."
"Are you crazy? She's in the UK! And probably was busy with her own work when you called!"
"She's a detective, she can help." Eddie defended, still seeming to avoid looking them in the eyes.
"Jà, she probably can, but, Eddie, you should have talked to us first." Gunter said.
Eddie paused, his hands clenching into fists. "Has it occured to you that my best friend is missing?"
"He's all our best friend." Ash said. And he's more then a friend, he's a mentor... a dad, she thought sadly.
Johnny looked to her and placed a comforting hand on her paw.
The sheep then whirled around and glared hard at the porcupine. "He. Was. Mine. First!"
The group jumped a little at his tone.
"Eddie-" Rosita tried, but the sheep interrupted her.
"NO! He is MY best friend! You animals hadn't even of heard of him until he called you up on stage! He was a stranger to you! You've known him for, what a few years? And suddenly you have him figured out?! You save his life, Rosita and you think you know him? All his quirks? His habits!? NO! YOU'VE JUST SCRAPED THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG!!
The group shrunk back as Eddie stood to his full height. His eyes were full of rage.
"I'VE known him since we were young! He was my college roommate! My best friend, MY brother! He taught me how to be cool, he showed me the ups and downs! Did any of you know that he sold his HOUSE that he and father lived in to pay for his theater?! Did you see him crying his eyes out on the steps of the theater when his dad passed?!"
The group exchanged glances.
"My family sacrificed their TIME AND MONEY to help pay for his, his stupid theater!"
Ash winced at that.
"I was there for his first show! MY FAMILY PRACTICALLY PAYED FOR IT!! I was there when his shows started to die out! Were you there? Did you see how his shows were crumbling all around?"
"No."
The groups turned to see Meena in the background. Hesitantly, she took a deep breath as she stepped forward. "But at least we supported him." She said, glaring at him.
Ash turned to face the sheep as well. "Yeah. We were the ones to go back and try to get him on his feet. For goodness sake! Meena was the reason we got to put on a show at all! Buster heard her song and suddenly, he was back in the game!"
Marcus crossed his arms. "Yeah, mate, where were YOU when Buster was strugglin', huh? You even ignored him when his theater came crashing down. Hopped right into a car and sped away."
"I had to help Nana!"
"Nana seemed to be doing just fine. It was this group right here that went to make sure Buster was all right, while you slept."
"I gave him a place to crash!"
Marcus growled. "Seriously? The pool house?!"
"Marcus-" Rosita tried.
Eddie spun to face her. "And YOU! IT'S YOUR FAULT HE'S GONE!"
Rosita paused, shock was plastered on her face.
Marcus jumped up. "Don't you dare put this on her, you walking pincushion!"
"If she hadn't forced him to go to the doctor he'd be here!"
"None of this is Rosita's fault. She worried about his wellbeing, as a good friend should! We know how Moon is with the doctor. They were just in the wrong place at the the wrong time! So don't you DARE blame this amazing woman or so help me-"
"Listen, Eddie." Rosita said, standing, placing a hand on Marcus' arm to calm him. "I don't need you telling me something that I already know. I already blame myself."
Johnny frowned. "Rosita-"
But the dancer continued. "Buster may be your best friend, but he's ours too and you have no right to speak to us like that."
Eddie growled as he stormed towards the door only to have it slam open, knocking him to floor.
The visitor peaked in and winced. "Sorry, mate."
"Amelia!" Johnny smiled in relief.
Marcus grabbed the fox into a hug. "You got here quick!"
"Hello, all, and truthfully I was already in the states collecting information on a case." The familiar fox smiled as she walked in. The looks on the rest of the groups faces told her that something was wrong. And not just the fact that Buster was missing. "What is going on?"
"Nothing." Eddie growled. "I called you, we'd better go talk." He started to escort her out, but Mia stopped him.
"I think this involves everyone, Noodleman."
Eddie bristled. "Fine! Go talk with them. I'm going to look for my friend."
Mia shook her head. "What? Are you crazy, we don't even know all the facts."
"I know that I don't want to discuss Buster with any of these animals." And with that, Eddie stormed off leaving a very bewildered Amelia.
The fox shook her head. "What was that all about?"

"Mister.... are... yes! Wake up, Mister Moon!"
Buster groaned as he shook his head. Then his eyes came into focus and his heart nearly leapt out if his chest with joy and relief.
"Porsha! Suki!
"Hey, Mister Moon!" Porsha Crystal cried. "Good thing we stopped in time!"
"I'm driving from now on. And give him some space, hun. Mr. Moon, what are you doing here!?" Suki Lane asked.
Buster sighed. "It's a long story." He said as he gave them a quick run down.
"You just can't stay out of trouble, can you?" Suki asked.
Buster gave her a smile. "Ah, Suki, what's life without risk?"
"Safe."
Buster managed a laugh before he shivered. "To be honest, I am getting a little tired of these things happening. I'm a magnet for danger it feels like."
Suki gave him an sympathetic smile. "Hey, you're also a magnet for good talant." She assured as she gave him a hug.
Buster chuckled as he blushed. "I'm glad you were the ones to catch me."
"What were doing in the middle the street?" Porsha asked.
"Trying to escape."
"Who are these guys anyway?" Suki asked, looking outside the window.
"No clue." Buster admitted. He peered around. "Where are we? Is this yours?"
"Yeah! This is totally like Suki's idea to promote the business more!" Porsha said. "After Dad... well, after that whole thing, Suki decided that we should start looking for new acts and stuff. Because you guys completely wowed her!"
Buster smiled at Suki who blushed. "I wouldn't say wow- okay, yes, I was impressed and that got me wondering what other talents were hidden within this city. So, we purchased this bus as a sort of on-the-road auditions vehicle. We drive around the city, offering to anyone who wants to try out."
"Yeah, and we're like totally more open minded then daddy was. So we've got a lot more animals wanting to try out for Crystal Entertainment."
Buster beamed. "That's amazing!"
'Well, wouldn't have considered it if it weren't for you, Mr. Moon, and your talented crew." Suki said.
Buster then remembered why he was here. "I wish we could have met under better circumstances."
"Are they still after you?" Suki asked.
Suddenly, the glass on the bus's front window burst as a brick sailed through.
"My guess is yes!" Buster yelped.

Amelia looked up as the theater group all walked in to Buster's office where she had set up a mini HQ. She had been using the showman's desk as her own. It was now covered in newspaper clippings, photos she had gathered from the local police department, as well as witness statements and camera footage.
"I have some news." She said once they were all in. "Truthfully, this ties into a case I was already on. There had been a case of robberies throughout the cities lately, so Scotland Yard sent me to gather intel. I was in the middle of an interview with a bank manager when Eddie contacted. So, with my findings and the ones from your local P.D., I've been able put together some of the puzzle. The porcupine has been identified as one Saul Spikes. With some digging, I found that he goes under several alias and is notorious for robbing banks, specifically in Zootopia. He originally started in smaller towns before getting cocky. Police were able to catch and secure him when he released his quills on him, though small, they caused serious damage, one officer lost an eye."
Rosita gasped.
"After that, he fled Zootopia, started again with small towns before striking here. The difference between now and then? He had a partner before he struck here. They split up. Turns out, that was a mistake, as both needed each other. The partner, a coyote called Denison Longtooth, from England was caught and imprisoned in another city. I was sent here to investigate because it was Longtooth who tried to steal the crown from the Queen. In broad daylight."
Marcus facepalmed. "Idiot."
"He managed to escape and come here wherehe was arrested. Anyway, since then, Spikes has been alone, at least, that was our original thought."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Nooshy asked.
"Whilst he was escaping the bank, a paper fell from his pocket, with the name of the bank and the initials J.B. printed upon. He has obviously found another partner..."
"So... what's this mean for Buster? That's the question we're all wondering." Rosita said. "With all due respect, Mia, I don't give-" Rosita took a deep breath. "I don't care about the animals who took him. I don't care about their motives, their wants, I- WE care about Buster."
"As do I." The fox replied. "But we need to get the facts straight, so we know what we're up against."
"Then you do that." Nooshy interrupted. "You gather the facts, you decide what we're up against. You take care of all that. What good are we in that field, huh?"
"Nooshy-"
"She's right though," Johnny said. "We'd be useless. You have more authority in this then us. As far as the police are concerned, we're just his friends. We'll be the last to know should anything come up."
"Johnny has a point." Meena said. "You're our only hope in this, Miss Mia."
Mia frowned as she looked each and every animal in the eye. Each were filled with tears, some were already falling. These were her friends. Her second family.
Buster meant just as much to them as he did to her. And they proved more then once that Buster was more then their friend and leader.
But for now, she couldn't be their friend. She needed to be the Detective they thought she was. They needed her to be strong and figure this out. She couldn't allow herself to let tears fall. She needed to be their rock.
She leaned on Buster's desk and nodded. "I'll get him back."

Porsha whimpered as she stood behind Buster and Suki as the door to the bus rattled and finally clicked open.
He breath caught in her throat as she watched a familiar wolf step in. "Hello, princess." It was the wolf with gray patches.
"Richie." Porsha managed to spit out.
Buster's ears shot up. "Richie!? You know him!?"
Porsha shrank back. "He's my cousin..."
"Sorry, kid, but you got something of mine. A witness, so to speak." Richie's eyes locked with Buster and he curled his lips into a smile. His eyes then brightened as he dragged them from Buster's to Porsha's. "Well, I just got an idea."
He snapped his fingers and two wolves climbed into the bus and secured Suki and Porsha.
"Spikes!"
The porcupine jumped into the cab of the bus and growled. "What?"
"I know a way to make more money then merely robbing small town banks." Richie said, staring at Porsha. "Meet my little cousin. Her pop's my 1st cousin. They're loaded. They got cash to burn. Her ol' man's in prison for attempted murder. But I know a few animals who would love to pay her ransom."
The porcupine snuffed. "What, you want to change the plan?"
"Oh, no, we're sticking to the plan. I'm just saying it couldn't hurt to have a back up plan."
"Listen, Crimson, by all means, do what you think is best. But make up your mind. I don't like hangin' out in big cities."
"You worry too much." Richie Crimson nodded his head. "We'll take the wolf and koala. Leave the dog. But leave her with a reminder."
The wolf who held Suki threw her to the ground and prepared to knock her unconscious before Crimson stopped him and leaned down to her current level. "Listen, sweetheart, we're gonna take this little pup away for now. But we'll be in touch soon."
Before Suki could respond, Crimson snapped his fingers and there was a loud bam before Suki fell to the floor, unconscious.
Buster was speechless as he was thrown into a bag. The only sounds were Porsha's attempted screams that were muffled by a bag.

Night was falling, but no stars shined down. The sky was dark with clouds and very soon rain began to beat on windows of the theater.
Amelia sat at the desk, her head in her paws, staring at the news paper articles, the notes, the photos that lay before her, trying to take in information, as if trying to search the world with her mind, searching for Buster, a clue, anything. Unable to eat, unable to sleep, she slammed her paw on the table. As she did this, thunder cracked as she looked up.
A knock on the door snapped her back to reality and she shook her head as she straightened her uniform. "Come in." She said.
The door opened and Rosita walked in carrying a cup of hot chocolate. "Thought you might need some nourishment..."
"I thought everyone would have gone home by now." Mia said.
"Not yet. We're awaiting news from the police or Buster himself."
"As am I. I got in contact with some ZPD officers and one called Officer Hopps said she hopes to have some more information for me tomorrow morning."
"I suppose that's good news."
"It's better then nothing." Mia said as she shook her head in frustration. She offered Rosita a small smile to reassure her.
Rosita frowned. "Drink the cooca, I'll bring you some food."
Mia's gaze darkened. "And reward myself for nothing?"
"You're not doing Buster nor yourself any good if you don't eat."
"I'll reward myself with nourishment when I have good news, until then, my focus is on the papers and notes that lie before me now."
Before Rosita could argue, the office phone began to ring. Neither fox nor pig spoke for a moment before Mia picked it up.
"Officer Holmes.
"Hi, this is Sgt. Cambell with Red Shore City Police Dept."
Rosita stiffened. "Red Shore! That's where the car was heading!" She hissed.
Mia nodded before replying. "Yes, sir, how may I help?"
"We probably might be able to help you. We just came up on a bus. The driver had been knocked unconscious. But when we got her up and talking, she explained that her boss and a koala were kidnapped by a bunch of wolves and a porcupine."
Amelia was writing as he continued. "The hostages were identified as Porsha Crystal and Buster Moon. Is this the koala you guys say was kidnapped?"
"Yes, sir!"
Rosita whimpered. "Porsha too?"
"Well, the victim here said that the kidnapper was related to Porsha."
Mia stared at Rosita who looked on the verge of fainting. "What was his name?" She asked, her paw clenching the phone.
"Richard Crimson, cousin to the hostage. Told the victim that they'd be in touch for ransom information."
Rosita sighed. As long as it wasn't Crystal, she thought.
Sgt. Cambell continued. "We'll keep you updated on the situation."
"Thank you, sarge. Good bye." Once she hung up, Mia went straight to Buster's computer, looking up any information she could get on Crimson before shooting Officer Hopps the text to do the same.
Rosita watched, in silent horror before a knock came to the door and Eddie peeked in. He cleared his throat. "I need to speak with Holmes alone." He said.
Rosita frowned. He was avoiding her gaze. The fight from before must still be fresh in his memory. But the dancer respected his wishes. She nodded to Mia before heading the door.
"Rosita," Mia said. "Tell everyone to head home. It won't do anyone any good just to sit here. You can let them know about the phone call."
Rosita nodded, still in shock at the whole new situation that had been thrown into their laps. "Thank you, be safe." She said and walked out, closing the door behind her.
"You as well." Mia whispered, sadly.
Eddie sniffed as he rubbed his eyes. "I came to see of there was any news." He said.
The Detective raised an eyebrow. She had only heard a brief telling of the story behind the fight between Eddie and the cast. "We received a phone call from Red Shore police." She said as she explained what the phone call consisted of.
Eddie glared. "So, what? Now that daughter of the guy who tried to kill him is involved?"
"Aye. But she's a victim."
"I don't give a-"
"Porsha is not to be blamed for her father's crimes, understand? She's in the same position as Buster right now. At least we know he is alive."
Eddie then frowned. "I, uh, may have messed up."
"May?" Amelia asked, knowing exactly what he was talking about.
Eddie shifted uncomfortably. "But they've only known Buster for a few short years! They can't know everything about him. I've practically known him my whole life."
"Rosita saved his life. Buster and that group downstairs have been through hell and back with each other these last few years. It wasn't your place when you spoke to the group as you did. They love Buster just as much as you and me. They didn't need to know him their whole lives to form a family. What they went through together is what built their relationship. Now, this isn't my business, but they deserve an apology. This is not the time to separate now. Buster needs all the support he can get."
Eddie frowned as he listened to her words. Finally he stood. "I'll... think about it." He said. With that, he walked out, leaving Mia alone. She sat back in the chair and ran a frustrated paw through her tuft of fur.
It was going to be a long night.
And that's page 2, hope you guys enjoyed it.
Stay tuned for page 3.
@phoenix-the-mistfit-fire-bird I love this pic, It certainly goes well with your story.
No art this time. Kinda lost motivation for it, 😕
But enjoy this chapter. Fair warning: This is a LOOONNG one. I debated on making it a two parter, but decided not. And little bit of Eddie being out of character.
It was nearly 7 in the morning by the time Amelia finally got in contact with Suki Lane. The dog sounded as tired as she was, but was coherent enough to answer Mia's questions.
"How many wolves would you say."
"Four or so. Five including Crimson."
"How did Buster seem? Was he hurt?"
"No, he seemed fine before they took him. A little winded, maybe. I'm sorry I haven't been able to talk sooner. The police found me unconscious in our bus. I've been nursing a concussion since then."
"I understand and I'm sorry. You must be worried sick about Porsha."
"You have no idea. I wasn't too happy to be placed on baby-sitter duty, but she's really grown up and taken on more responsibility. I'm proud of her. I think we've been good for each other. She definitely keeps me on my toes."
"Well, miss Lane, I promise I'll keep contact and deliver any news we may receive."
"Thank you so much, Detective."
Amelia hung up and glanced at the desk.
The Red Shore Police had yet provide anymore information. Two days had passed and still no ransom note.
Meanwhile, downstairs, the rest of the gang had arrived and were waiting anxiously for Mia's news. Judy had left and returned to Zootopia to see about getting more info.
Ash was sitting alone in the back of the theater, looking worriedly at her phone. Hoping for a call or even a message from Buster to let them know he was okay. To let her know. But no notifications arrived. Instead, the device sat, silently in her shaking paws.
"Ash?"
The porcupine looked up to see Meena. "Are you okay?"
Ash quickly wiped a lose tear and cleared her throat. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, don't worry."
"You don't look fine."
"It's nearly been 2 days..." Ash admitted.
"I know."
"Why hasn't he called? Or texted? What if that animal found out Dad- Buster was in the car and, and-"
Meena lay her paw on Ash's shoulder and she calmed a bit, taking a deep breath. Meena took this a sign and gave her a tight hug which Ash returned. The elephant then went and sat beside her. "We're going to get our dad back."
Gunter watched this scene from his spot on stage and frowned. "That dinklesplat will pay for this." He muttered.
"You're right."
Gunter looked up, not knowing anyone had heard him, and his eyes met Clay's. The old rockstar was sporting his leather jacket and held his helmet tightly in his paws.
"That, that, dinkle- whatever ya called him WILL pay for this. Your pal's been through a lot this year, no doubt 'bout that. But he always come through, doesn't he?"
"Well... jà." Gunter admitted.
"I'll bet by this time tomorrow, he'll be back on this stage, with his usual optimistic attitude and ordering us around." Marcus said as he approached.
Gunter chuckled. "Jà, perhaps you're right. But, tomorrow... seems like a long time away, jà?"
"Only a day away."
The dancer smiled at the Moon Theater's Security guard's unusual change in personality. A hopeful one.
"So how are you holding up, stud?" Clay asked. "I talked to Ash as soon as I found out and made my way out here. To offer any support."
"That's... that's good of you." Gunter said.
"We're... not great."
"It's been a difficult few days." Marcus admitted.
Rosita was having problems of her own. She sighed as her phone went to voicemail. Eddie was ignoring them, which worried her greatly. No telling what he was planning. He could have gone off in search of Buster alone.
Desperate, she tried one more time. Suddenly, he answered. "Yes, Rosita. "
"Eddie! Thank goodness. Where are you?"
___________________________________________
Eddie looked up at the theater entrance. "At my place." He lied.
"Are you okay?" Rosita asked.
"I'm fine. Listen, my parents are calling me, gotta go."
"But-"
Eddie hung up and snuck to the back entrance. He could hear the theater gang talking and moving around near the stage area. Quietly, he snuck up the stairs to Buster's office and softly opened the door.
Mia looked up at as he entered and her tired expression turned to one of annoyance as well as concern. "Where have you been?"
Eddie ignored her. "Any news?"
"On Buster's situation? Yes, have you had been here, I would have gladly-"
"The only thing I want to know about that guy is whether or not I can fit my hands around his neck."
The fox raised an eyebrow. "Watch yourself, Noodleman, I may be a friend, but I am still an officer of the law."
Eddie's attitude suddenly changed. "Then what I am supposed to do, DETECTIVE!? Because you're obviously not helping! I asked you down to help! And you haven't moved from this room!"
"We have no whereabouts on the suspects. I am doing what I can."
"That's not good enough!"
Mia raised a paw to calm him. "Noodleman-"
"Shut up!" Eddie then did something Mia believed he didn't have the nerve for. He grabbed her by her coat and brought her over the desk with strength the fox had no idea he possessed. "You gotta help him! Do your job!"
SMACK!
Eddie blinked as he sat up the floor. He was strong, but Mia was stronger. Having had enough, she slapped him away. Regaining her composer, she stared Eddie as he recovered from his shock. "If you don't get a hold of yourself, I'll inject you with a sedative." She growled.
The sheep nodded and as he relaxed, Mia got a good look at him. He had bags under his eyes and his cheeks were puffy, possibly from crying.
"Sit down." She ordered.
Eddie nodded as he picked himself and sat himself down on the couch.
Amelia could tell something was bothering him. "What is it?"
"What?"
"Buster has been in situations like this before, what makes this any different? Why are you acting as you are now?"
Eddie frowned.
"Noodleman."
"I got a phone call."
Mia felt her blood boil, but she immediately caught herself. In the state he was in now, Mia needed to remain calm. As if she were feeding a bird, Amelia needed to tread carefully. "And... what, you didn't think contacting us would be a good idea...?" She asked, her accent becoming stronger as she spoke.
"It was from Buster's phone, but it wasn't him. I didn't recognize the voice."
"And?"
"Well... I over heard it saying 'it'sthe koala's phone' and another voice said 'they know we're in Red Shore'. After that, I... I heard someone laugh and i heard the word, faintly, but I heard 'kill'. And that's when the call ended..."
"We could have traced the call, did you think of that?"
"My worries were on Buster at the moment." Eddie defended. "I think they're gonna kill him!"
"Calm down." Mia ordered. Then she took a deep breath. "You should have told me."
"Buster's MY friend."
Mia felt her ear twitch with impatience. With the fuzzy feeling in her head, she looked Eddie dead in the eye. "Let's not cross that bridge again, Noodleman. It's already started to crumble, let's not shatter in entirely."
Eddie frowned as he looked away.
"You haven't apologized to them yet, have you." It was more a statement then a question as Mia raised an eyebrow.
"No."
"You'd better do it now. You withheld vital information. Apologizing to the cast will be your punishment."
Eddie looked up. "Punishment?! I'm not the one-"
"With that call we could have traced it back to Buster. You kept it to yourself. Those animals down there was sitting and shaking, worrying just as much as you. You owe this to them, Eddie."
"They shot back!"
Mia growled in frustration. "Fine. If you want to mope about, be my guest, Noodleman. I came here to solve a case, not to mend a wound that shouldn't have been made in the first place." The fox then sighed. "Leave, Noodleman. I'll keep you posted on updates."
The sheep frowned as he stood. With a huff, he exited, slamming the door shut on his way out. He was planning on exiting the back way when he heard a familiar, deep voice.
"Where do ya think you're goin', fluff? Trying to leave without sayin' good bye, are we?" The old gorilla asked.
"I'm leaving, isn't that what you all wanted?"
"Not until I did this."
"Do wha- ARGH!" Eddie yelped as Marcus grabbed his arm and practically dragged Eddie to the stage.
The group turned as the two appeared and they shared awkward glances.
Eddie wasted no time as he stood, heading for the front entrance, but Clay blocked him. "Eddie, wait-" Rosita said, running up.
"Let me pass."
"Go ahead, Mama Rose,, let 'im pass. Nevermind he kept something from you." Marcus said.
"What, what are you talking about?" Rosita asked.
"The sheep here got a phone call, said he over heard strange voices. Kept it from Amelia. Could have been a chance to trace the phone call. But no, Noodleman decides to keep this information for himself."
"Is, is that true?" Ash asked.
"So?" Eddie simply answered.
Gunter pushed Rosita out of the way and grabbed Eddie, tears forming in his eyes. "We're his family! You should have told us."
"You and your band of, of misfits were formed ONLY because of Buster."
"Watch your tongue." Marcus growled.
Johnny, having been watching the scene play out from the shadows, finally made himself known. Quickly, he pulled Gunter away from the sheep. "Enough, you two, you're actin' like children!"
"No! Let Gunter beat him, he kept this from us!" Ash cried.
"NO ONE IS BEATING ANYONE!!"
The group stopped and turned to see Mia standing on stage. "Your arguing is pointless and getting us no where. Bloody hel- you're supposed to be a family. Start acting like it. Buster is missing, possibly in danger. But when we find him, when we save him, he's going to expect a welcome back from his family. His WHOLE family. Eddie, Rosita, Ash, everyone." Mia took a deep breath. "I know. Things are stressful. We're ALL worried about him. But this isn't the time to separate. We must stand together. All of us."
The group settled for a moment, seeming to take in Mia's words. Suddenly, the entrance doors opened and Meena walked in. Despite being absent during the last few minutes, her strong ears heard everything. Shyly she cleared her throat. "I found this on the door." She said, fearfully. "I think it's a ransom note."
The gang watched in silence as Amelia took the envelope and opened it. Her eyes narrowed and a growl rose in her throat.
"Get me Judy Hopps."

Buster frowned as his stomach began to remind him that his last decent meal was too long past. And the fault wasn't only his kidnappers'
He sighed as he remembered all the lectures and speeches Rosita and the others give him about his health. Living on coffee alone wasn't going to help him be the best he could be.
Determination set into his chest. If and when they got out of this mess, he swore that he would be a better, healthier version on himself.
He jumped when he heard the door click open and Lance strolled in. The porcupine was still sporting Buster's gift to him on his cheek. His eyes darkened as he focused on Buster.
Buster smirked. "I knew I made a right choice in not choosing you for my show. Your ugly mug would have scared away my guests."
Porsha winced. "Mister Moo-"
"Shut up, you washed up nobody." Lance snarled. "Ash could've been the NEXT American Rock Star Legend! Why the hell did you stick with you and that rag tag team of misfits!?"
Buster glared. "Because we saw her. We didn't leave her to sing background vocals. We treated her like the amazing kid she was and she blossomed."
Lance yelled as he launched for the koala, but Buster was quicker as he dodged the attack and leapt to the side before he knocked Lance into the wall. "Listen here, Dinklesplat! Ash is not an object you can own! Not a force you can drain! She knows her worth and she won't let any animal tell her she's not valued! Especially a worthless piece of-"
Buster yelped as he felt himself being tugged off the ground by his ear until he was eye level with Crimson. The wolf laughed. "Fiesty little thing, aren't ya?"
Buster shrank back before he saw in the corner of his eye Porsha raise from the ground and stepped towards Crimson. Buster winced as she kicked the wolf where the sun don't shine and Crimson released a pathetic whimper as he dropped to his knees, losing his grip on Buster in the process. Porsha caught him before he hit the ground and held him close. Baring her teeth, she snarled at her cousin and Lance.
Crimson cleared his throat as he struggled to his feet. "We'll be back." He said, his voice strained as he grabbed Lance by his jacket collar and forced him out.

"Here, look here."
Nick Wilde glanced to Judy who was busy typing away on their policr cruiser's computer.
"Spikes causes injury to Zootopia Officer. Officer loses eye."
Nick winced. "Ouch. Is he still with the force?"
"Uh... no, it says he retired shortly after the whole ordeal."
"Heads up, Carrots, you're getting a phone call.
Judy looked ar her screen and saw Rosita was the caller. "Hello?"
"Judy!"
"Amelia? Where's Rosita?"
"Right here, we got problems, mate. We got a ransom note. If you're free, I'd appreciate your assistance."
"We'll be there in a hour." Judy assured as she hung up. "Saddled up, slick, they got a ransom note."

Buster was shaken awake from his slumber and looked up to see Porsha.
"What's up?" He asked, suddenly alert when he saw the panic in her eyes.
"Get up." Lance said, coming into view.
Buster growled as he sat up. "What now."
"In a few hours, you and I are goin' on a little drive."
Porsha shifted behind the koala as Buster stood. "Over my dead body."
Lance chuckled. "I wish." He smiled. "If ya don't do what I say, it won't end well for Ash."
Buster glared.
"What's the plan, spikey?" Crimson growled, walking in.
"Why should you care? My plan doesn't conflict with your own."
"You're using a few of my wolves, I have the right. 'Course, I could take 'em back."
Lance held up his paws. "All right, all right. I see your point, but-" he looked to Porsha "Let's discuss this elsewhere."
The porcupine and the wolf exited, but Buster made his way to the door and applied his ear.
"There's an old bridge between here and Moon's city. It's not being used because it's under construction, or was anyway. There's access to and across, but the ground is unstable. They quit working on it a few months back. Completely abandoned. My plan is to meet with them in the car with Buster. They'll bring Ash, an arguement will happen, ect, ect. I convince Ash that no harm will come to Buster if she came with me. She agrees, I get her in the car, we jump in. And that's when your guys come in. That's when we permanently get rid of the showman."
Buster swallowed.
"Yeah? And how ya gonna know they ain't gonna plan somethin' to get out of this?"
"They're idiots, believe me. And besides, they won't risk it with their friends' lives on the line."
"Mister Moon?" Porsha asked. "What can you hear?"
The koala frowned. "Nothing important." He said. I have to find a phone, Ash is danger, he thought to himself.
His ears picked up another sound. The sound of sobbing. He turned to face the young wolf that sat mere feet from him.
"I'm scared, Mister Moon." She said.
Buster made his way to her. "I know, kid. Me too."
"Are they going to kill us?"
The theater director frowned as he took her paw.
Porsha wiped her tears and let out a shuddering breath. "My dad wasn't always a shrewd businessman..."
Buster sat down to listen.
"We actually used to have a close relationship. He'd take me to the beach, to get ice cream, the movies. Once we were at the beach and I was hunting for sea shells when this huge wave came and knocked me down. The wave started to pull me into the water and I was super scared. But Dad rescued me just in time. I was a mess, but he was too. I don't think I'd seen him so scared. We didn't go to the beach for sometime after that. But he took me for ice cream after it."
Porsha sniffed. "When his business started taking off, he started having less and less time for me."
Buster patted her paw, gently.
"How do you know that jerk?"
The question took the koala by surprise.
"Well, he was Ash's boyfriend when I asked her to join the show."
"Ash dated that guy?"
"Believe it or not, she actually liked him. When they first auditioned, he sounded like claws on a chalkboard. But Ash had potential. So I told Ash she was in and he was out. And let me tell you, neither were happy."
Porsha pulled her legs to her chest as she listened.
"Anyway, Ash came back and it wasn't long before she found out that Lance was cheating on her."
"That's horrible!'
"Actually a blessing in disguise, if you can believe. It led Ash down a road to self discovery, and led her to write her very first song. She found self worth and self respect. She never lets any guy telk what she is or isn't worth." Buster sighed, proudly. "She's really grown up. And I couldn't be more prouder."
"So what happened after?"
Buster shifted uncomfortably. "Well, Lance wouldn't let up after he saw her first performance. Started stalking her. Got to the point where Ash was so terrified, I let her stay at my apartment."
"You must love her a lot."
"Well, I never thought of having kids before. The theater was everything to me." Buster reached for his wallet that was in his blazer and pulled out a picture he had of each if his crew members. He gazed at the one he and Ash were in, celebrating her first album. "Now my family is. Thanks to the show, I gained three kids." He smiled at Porsha. "And after Red Shore, I realized I gained one more."
___________________________________________
"....have Ash drive to the abandoned bridge, midnight. No cops, no friends. Ash only. The koala will be returned, unharmed." Judy frowned as she finished reading aloud. "And you're sure this is Lance's paw writing?"
"Ash confirmed it." Mia said, pacing. "She recognized it from when he used to write songs."
"So what do you do?" Nick asked.
"You're the police." Mia pointed out.
"And you're a Detective. This is way out of our area, Ames." Judy explained.
Amelia face palmed. "No police. No friends."
Judy frowned. "We could abide to his wishes... set a trap...?"
"I won't allow Ash to be put in that kind of danger. She's already been abused by that brute, I won't let it happen again." Amelia frowned.
"She agreed to it though."
The three officers turned to see Eddie standing in the doorway. "Ash agreed. Let her go up there, let her go with Lance. We'll get Buster back. She lived with Lance. She can handle him."
"This doesn't concern you, Noodleman." Mia glared, appalled he would suggest such a thing.
"That's my best friend in trouble!"
Here we go, Judy said, rolling her eyes.
"Go back downstairs, Noodleman." Mia said, attempting to stay calm.
"NO!! I'M THE ONLY ONE DOING ANYTHING! Ash agreed! Let her do this!"
"It's too bloody dangerous, Noodleman. Please understand this. We'll working out a way for everyone to walk away safely." Mia assured.
Eddie frowned as he turned a way, holding back tears.
"Eddie-"
Suddenly, Eddie whirled around and delivered a punch to Trixie's nose. The fox fell to the floor. She wiped her nose and saw the blood on her sleeve.
Numb with shock, Amelia yelped as the sheep grabbed her and slammed her against the wall. Her eyes were piercing green, burning with rage and fury.
But she couldn't bring herself to hard this hurting sheep. She been in this line of work to know this attack wasn't personal, but Eddie was looking for someone to blame and until they found the culprits, she was his victim.
Eddie stared back into her eyes before Mia looked up and saw the photo frame of the gang hanging just above them. Buster's familiar smile and the groups happy faces. The attack, for a second was forgotten.
It was a second too long.
Eddie delivered a punch to her gut and smacked the side of her face. He was about to grab her again when Marcus suddenly appeared and thrusted him on to the couch.
"That. IS. ENOUGH!!" Judy screamed,
Eddie tried to move, but he powerless against the gorilla.
"Eddie Noodleman, you could be put in jail with assault on an officer of the law. This little temper tantrum is ending right now. Do you understand." It was more a statement then a question and Eddie frowned as Judy continued. "You are acting like a child. Amelia, are you alright?"
"I'm fine." Amelia finally spoke. Grunting, she picked herself up. "Let him go. It's not his fault."
Eddie frowned, but Nick was furious. "Are you crazy? He attacked you!"
"Eddie." Mia said. "I know this is hard, believe me, but if you interfere again. I WILL have you put under house arrest until this matter is solved."
Eddie's eyes widened a bit. "But Buster-"
"Is no longer... your problem." Amelia took a deep breath. "I've put up with you in this case until now. You're not stable enough. You could end up getting someone hurt or even killed. This is includes Buster."
"You can't just-"
"This is for your safety as well as ours." Mia said.
"It's best to do as she says, Eddie." Judy put in. "I know this is difficult. But we can't have you involved with this case any longer. You can go home and await news.... or we'll confine you there. Marcus, please escort him downstairs."
"It's not forever, fluff." Nick added, his green eyes softening. "Just until we got Moon back."
Eddie frowned as he looked from Nick to Judy, to Amelia. He then silently stood and followed Marcus to the door. Mia frowned as she leaned on the desk, her strength nearly gone. "I will find him, Eddie. Mark my words."
The sheep said nothing, he didn't even look back as he walked out. He was nearly down the the stairs when he realized something. He casted a glance over his shoulder in the office just as the door was closing. Once it clicked, he allowed himself a small smile.

Rosita frowned as she looked down at her shakey hands. The scene that had played out upstairs had gone unnoticed by the rest of the cast.
Gunter frowned as he walked up and gave her a cup of cocoa which she excepted, gratefully.
Gunter then stood. "I can't gonna sit around, not when we have a note upstairs. "
"Mia said wait here-"
"What did it say again?" Johnny asked.
Rosita frowned as she took her phone. She had managed to snap a picture before Mia and the officers took it upstairs.
" 'dear Moon Theater. Did you think you could get rid of me that easy?'" Rosita shuddered a bit as she continued. "'I have Buster Moon. Have Ash drive to the abandoned bridge, midnight. No cops, no friends. Ash only. The koala will be returned, unharmed. If you don't, Buster takes a late night swim." Rosita suddenly growled. "More then anything I wish I could get my paws around that punk's neck."
"Your paws are to small." Gunter pointed out.
"I'll get Johnny to do it then."
Usually the gentle soul, Johnny gave no sign that he was against this.
Marcus suddenly approached, looking ragged and furious.
"Dad? What's wrong?" Johnny asked.
"Eddie attacked Amelia." Marcus replied.
"What? When?" Clay demanded.
"Just now. Lost his temper."
"Is she okay?" Meena asked.
"She's handling better then I would have. They're upstairs now discussing how to go about this."
"Let's, let's do something." Meena said suddenly said.
"Meena, there's nothin' we can do," Johnny said.
"We can drive there and demand Buster back. We could threaten him or, or-"
"Meena, honey-" Rosita tried.
"We could trade!"
"Only thing he wants is Ash." Johnny growled.
"Jà and he'll have to get through me to get to her." Gunter growled.
"Gunter is right, Ash has got animals behind her." Clay said. Then he realized something. "Where IS Ash?"
__________________________________________
Mia frowned as she rubbed her neck. "It's a risk. But, if Ash agreeable, we'll go with it."
Judy nodded. "Ash drives there alone, as instructed. Nick and I follow along with our civilian car, not lights. Set up the spike strips. So when Lance pushes out Buster and speeds away, his tires will shred. Get Ash, arrest Lance and who ever he has as an accomplice."
"Then boom, everyone's home safe." Nick smiled.
"I hope so." Amelia says.
"Mia!"
The officers turned as the door was thrown open and the theater group barged in.
"Ash is gone!"
"What do you mean, gone?" Amelia asked, jumping up.
"We've looked everywhere," Rosita explained. "I called her cell, we found it in her dressing room. She's gone! Marcus and Clay are searching the area!"
Nick frowned as he looked to Judy. "You don't think Eddie-"
"Kidnapped Ash and went to go get his friend back?"
"....that's oddly specific."
"Eddie!?" Rosita cried.
"Mia and he got into a small scuffle. We ordered him to leave." Judy explained. "And now... we may have reason to believe he kidnapped Ash to exchange her for Buster."
Rosita and the group stared, horrified. They didn't think Eddie was crazy enough to do this.
"He's out of his mind!" Johnny cried.
"At the moment, it's safe to say yes." Mia said. "He could be walking into a trap. There's no telling what could happen. He might get Buster, Ash and himself killed."
"So, Amelia, what do you suppose we do?" Nick asked.
"You tell me."
"Don't you have any idea?" Johnny asked.
"We did, but this complicates things."
"You're being unbelievably calm in this situation." Johnny pointed out.
"I'm trying to think, son." Mia replied. She cleared the fuzziness and leaned back in the chair.
After a few seconds of agonizing silence, she leaned forward. "I'm going after them."
"Are you crazy?" Nick asked. "What if there's a gun fight?"
Mia put her paw to her side and was met with the familiar cold medal of her revolver. "That's a risk I am willing to take." She said, softly.
"Let us help, Mia, we could be useful!" Rosita tried.
"I'm not bringing a group of civilians to a hostile situation. Wilde, Hopps, I still want you to lay out those spike strips of yours. But carefully. I don't know how Lance will react if he sees Eddie went with Ash. This could be a blood bath..."
"Do you really think any of the animals mentioned are really the type to create a... blood bath..?" Meena asked.
"Lance? Difficult to tell. The wolves, however, I would bet good money." The fox's eyes shifted to the window. Night was falling fast. Midnight would be there before they knew it. With a growl deep in her throat, Mia buttoned her coat and took out her revolver, checking its bullets. "It takes an hour to get there, we'll go in separate vehicles." She said, turning to Nick and Judy. "Johhny, mind if I borrow your car?" She asked.
Johnny hesitantly threw her his keys and she snatched them. "Stay close behind me, you two. But out of sight and OFF THE BRIDGE. I looked it up, too many vehicles and the very ground could shift. The bridge could very well collapse. I'll get as close to Eddie and them as I can. Perhaps, if there is trouble, I can try to negotiate.... if not," The fox cocked her weapon. "And you," she continued, turning to the group. "Stay here. Is that understood?"
The group nodded, solemnly.
"We'll be back with everyone safe. You have my word."
With that, the three officers raced out the door.
Johnny glanced at the group before him. "So.... don't tell me we're just gonna sit here."
"For the moment, jà." Gunter said.
"What!?"
"Or until I find my keys." Rosita smirked pulling her keys from her purse. She clicked the button and her van chirped from the ground below.
Johnny smiled. "Let's go kick some tail!"

Buster groaned as he opened his eyes. Twice it has now happened that he had been knocked unconscious. He shook his head and felt that his hands were now tied behind him and he was in the back seat of an unmoving car. Porsha was nowhere to be seen, but a soft chuckle told Buster he wasn't alone.
Lance was there.
"Where is Porsha!?" He growled.
Lance, seated in the front seat, ignored him as he started his own conversation. "I hated myself, for what I did to Ash. That wasn't me. I'm a great guy!"
Worry still itched for Porsha, but Buster decided to play along. "Did Becky say that?"
"Becky? She left me. Couple days after your stupid show, actually. Caught me trying to call Ash."
"You tried to call her?"
"She blocked me. I met her a couple of times, after rehearsals. She didn't want anything to do with me. And then, what can I say? I wanted her back. She still loves me, deep down."
"Maybe she did." Buster said, coldly. "But that was before you started stalking her."
"That's over and done, Moon. I am different now, I've changed!"
"For the worst."
"And don't worry about Ash. So long as she does what I ask, she'll be all right."
"Why are you doing this. You seemed happy with Becky. I mean, obviously. You left Ash for her."
"Becky's not a rockstar. Ash's name could become a sensation! But she remains in that theater or crappy clubs, her potential being wasted away in petty plays."
"She seems happy."
"That's because she doesn't know what she can become!"
"You're just wanting the fame for yourself. This has nothing to do with Ash. You're just using her to become famous yourself." Buster growled. "You never paid any attention to her. Not until she appeared on that stage!"
Lance's grip tightened on the steering wheel. "I suppose you're wondering what happened to the wolf."
Buster frowned. Lance was trying to change the subject, which, he admitted, was fine with him. "Where is she!?"
"She's in the car behind us. With Crimson."
"But she knows just as much as I. She'll rat you out."
"Possibly."
"What, that doesn't concern you?"
"We're taking a risk putting you out. Besides, her name is a lot bigger then some little theater director's. And she's pretty naive. Probably won't take much to keep her mouth shut."
This guy's an idiot, Buster thought.
Suddenly a knock came and Lance opened the door to see Crimson. "What?"
"Gotta have a word with you." The wolf growled as he pulled the porcupine out, leaving Buster alone.
The koala looked around before his phone picked up a faint buzz. For the first time in hours, he felt his spirits soar as a light appeared from a familiar object.
Lance had left his phone.
The theater owner, though his hands were tied, quietly crept over and opened it to the phone call. With his tongue, he punched in Rosita's number.
__________________________________________
"Will someone answer that?" Rosita asked as she drove.
"It's an unknown number," Gunter said.
"Answer it anyway."
"Hello, like, this is Rosita's phone."
"Gunter!"
The familiar voice nearly drove them all off the road. Rosita gasped as she gained control. Gunter took the AUX cord and plugged it into the car, allowing Buster's voice to be heard through speaker.
"Buster Brandon Moon! Thank goodness! Where are you!? Are you okay?! Are-"
"Rosita! I don't have long to talk! Listen, I need you to call Zootopia police, tell them that there will be a robbery at the bank-"
"Who cares, Moon!?" Mike argued.
"I do! There's a rare diamond there! This is will be a chance to catch Saul Spikes once and for all."
"Fine, we will. After we save you!"
"No! You'd all be in danger! Where's Ash!?"
The group exchanged nervous glances.

"Noodleman kidnapped her and is bringing her to the old bridge." Clay's voice rang.
It took all Buster had not to scream. "E-Eddie...?" Why would his beat friend kidnap his daughter?!
"He's desperate." Johnny said.
The showman took a deep breath. "They're...he's..."
"Calm down, Buster," Gunter said.
"Calm down?!" Buster hissed. "My best friend kidnapped my kid and is about to hand her over to Lance! Calm down my-"
Buster stopped as he picked up the sounds of foot steps approaching. He held his breath until they passed.
"Eddie's upset, worried and desperate." Rosita explained. "Though I am completely disappointed in him, I can see where he's coming from..."
"Still, it wasn't right!" Gunter said.
"Officers Hopps and Wilde are on their way, and Am-"
"You need to turn back." Buster interrupted.
"What!?!"
"You're outta your mind, Moon!"
"Not bloody likely!"
Buster frowned. "This is getting too dangerous, guys. You need to turn around. Please. I will not see one of you hurt."
"Who stays that'll happen!?"
"Please, guys. Go back." Buster swallowed.
With that, he hung up.

"Buster? Buster Moon!" Rosita cried, tears forming as the phone clicked.
"Can we call him back?" Meena asked.
"Wouldn't be wise." Gunter warned.
"So what!? We just turn back!?" Johnny asked.
Rosita frowned as she slowed her vehicle down. As it was was nearing midnight, no cars seemed to be on the road. Sighing, she came to a full stop on the shoulder.
"We can't just leave him!" Meena cried.
"Mia is there. She'll figure out what to do. We need, we need to follow Buster's orders..."
Johnny frowned. "But-"
"No buts. Now hand me my phone. We need to call Zootopia police."

Mia sat in Johnny's truck, hidden in the darkness over looking the bridge. She was glad for the teen's old truck, at first glance, it looked as though it had been here for some time, forgotten.
The bridge was hidden in the darkness, over looking a ravine a good 100 feet down where rough rapids shot through, daily.
The quietness and stillness of everything made the seasoned fox nervous.
It wasn't long before Amelia received a text, telling her Judy and Nick were preparing the spike strips. The darkness concealing them.
Thunder rumbled above, the clouds making the night sky darker then usual.
Eleven forty five.
Mia glanced away from her watch and waited.
Five minutes later another vehicle pulled up, a black car.
Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. The calm before the storm, so to speak.
