My pitch for Absolute Impulse

(and Thad, but shh)

Instead of Bart being saved and sent to the past by Meloni and Iris, he instead stays in the future and under the rule of President Thawne.

He is then basically groomed and made into a super-soldier/mercenary for the government along side Thad (who is Barts' twin and not a clone). The two grow up in VR together and the simulation basically trained them to be said soldiers.

Then they two get sent back in time by President Thawne to kill Wally - who is their father, because we don't have Barry.

In the end, the two have a redemption arc and end up helping Wally while still having the skills and mindset of children who were groomed into soldiers.

The reason Bart and Thad grow up together in VR is to create a sense of only having each other. They won't be loyal to Thawne, only to each other simply because they are the only ones they've ever known. The lack of human contact in Barts' backstory always seemed weird to me, since it wasn't really explored, so having the two of them will allow them to still have the sense of humanity.

The ageing problem: For those unaware, Bart experienced rapid ageing dur to the speed force and was only able to start ageing normally when Wally fixed him. This gets changed to the scientist fixing them, but after a longer time - so Bart and Thad are both ~15-16 when they go to the past instead of being 12-15.

Wally being their dad is so they have more of a connection (also I think It'd be really cool if Wally didn't know and Bart and Thad used it against him once he found out). Also because, again, there is no Barry.

Lastly, the whole VR thing. I always found it weird that the VR was like a weird game/fever dream. Like, why would the government spend so much money and time on a child to get nothing out of it? So, having the VR actually be more similar to something like Elden Ring or Skyrim where it's opened world and they can talk to whoever - but they have to fight a bunch of big bads. It'll also be really intreating to explore the lack of care for other human life because they wouldn't realise that people aren't just code until later. (murder twins, and when Wally gets mad at them they get confused because they simply don't understand)

Uhhh... yeah. Bart and Thad being brother and child soldiers for the government sent back in time to kill their father is something I'd like to see.

(I just want to explore the consequences of children being raised in VR and not being socially conditioned properly... man, I have issues).

If Thad was to ever come back (and was characterised/written correctly), he should join the Outlaws to complete the set of Bat, Kryptonian, Speedster, and Amazon.

It would also be really funny to watch everyone else react to that (especially Bart and Tim)

Thadd should use the name Hermes after Inertia.

Hear me out !

First, I can't belive there is no speedster names after the swiftest of the Gods of Olympus !! I'm not sure if he's exactly the god of speed, but he's close enought anyway !

Second, like many other people, I think Bart should become Mercury instead of Flash, and Mercury is also known as ???? Hermes !! So if Thadd was the inertia and Bart the impulse, when Bart becomes Mercury Thadd should become Hermes ! So it's stay in the theme !

Third, I like Thadd juste having is own identity as a hero and not juste take over the name of an other speedster.(even if it keeps a link with Barts name)

Fourth, it's just funny ! Like, Mercury is some kind of copy of Hermes, when Thadd is what we can call a copy of Bart ! I like the irony !

Fifth, because no speedster have use this name yet there is no connotation nor legacy behind it, so that allow Thadd to be who he wants ! A hero, a vilain, a anti-hero, anything he wants ! And even the non-heroic options make sens with the name Hermes 'cause the guy's also the god of thieves !

Yeah, I know Hermes is alredy a character in the comics, but he's not really important and he's not considered a speedster, plus it wouldn't be the first time two entirely different characters share a name.

Also, why Thadd could decide to change his name ? Well, it could just be because Bart change his so Thadd want to do the same, or, in a redemption scenario, Inertia could be a bad remember about all the bad Thadd has done.

Anyway, I had this idea after I hadn't sleep for like 48 hours so it's may not really make sense but I like it !

So yeah, my boyfriend randomly asked me how I thought Thadd would react if Max told him he was proud of him, so I drew this to show him!

The Max and Bart hug is just 'cause I was feeling down and drawing Bart is my cure !

Part 2 of random Flashfam headcanons !

- When someone points out the weird color of Bart's eyes, they just invents a stupid story each time to explain it ("this is what happens when you become blind and then regain your sight" "I am half dragon" "a wizard cast a spell on me" "it's a sign of higher intelligence"...)

- Bart's hair make them look taller than Thadd, and he don't like it.

- Wally has a dinosaurs phase when he was a kid.

- Literally every speedster passed Jay and Joan off as their grandparents to other people. (Barry: Yes Jay is my grandfather. Yes he is also my nephew's and grandchild's. No none of this is weird.)

- All speedsters are somewhat capable of cooking.

- It remains to be seen if their cooking is really edible for non-speedsters...

- The best way to woo a speedster is to offer him food.

- A speedster only offers food to people tey likes.

- Bart learned to knit to keep their hands busy and started giving away what they knit for Christmas and birthdays.

- They still have problems with sizes. But everyone loves the effort. (Max wears his every Christmas)

- Because of their metabolism, all speedsters give off a lot of heat and resist the cold very easily (being able to wear t-shirts even below 5°C) So, for many, speedster = radiator.

- Thadd tricks Bart into doing his chores for him.

- Despite being super smart 'cause he was basically raised on a giant computer, Thadd tends to believe a little bit of everything he reads on the internet.

- Bart likes to make fun of conspiracy theories (even if he himself is convinced that the center of the earth is made of nougat.)

I think Thadd and Dami could really get along, or at least understand each other in a way other can't !

Hear me out !! They were both raised and created in violence/hate, they are both crushed by their legacies (the Revers Flash and Batman/Al Ghul legacies), they are both seen by others as psychopathic kids unable to have feeling, they both just need love and guidance to become better, they are both compared to "better" versions of themselves (Bart and the previous Robins), they are both very intelligent, neither of them had a real childhood, in a certain way they both been lied about their destiny... etc.

I may not be a Damian expert, so I might not be entirely right about all of this, but I still think they could get along when Thadd finally begins his redemption arc !

I need an identity crisis arc for Thadd! Like, the kid's whole existence has been based on him being someone else!! How can he find out who he is, when he only learned to be Bart??

I swear, one day I will become a comic author for DC comics and I will wright a solo comics just for Thadd !

Thad' needs his redemption arc ! Mercury Falling literally made me cry(twice !!!) ! This boy just needs to be loved :'( Let him get the love he deserves

Yeah yeah, I recently reread Impulse 1995 and got a little emotional again about the Inertia arc during Mercury Falling :') I love this little grimelin

I started the Impulse comics very late(26 years late), but my god how much I love these two ! I didn't even know I could like two characters and their relationship so much !
