Does anyone else starts to see how many books there are, and how every single one of them has the potential to destroy you and them is 5am and you start crying on Pinterest with your cat at your feet
That’s awesome, I am majorly jealous and so is Kai.
My SO bought me a dragon box.
Y'all can come to the wedding I guess
Aww, this is super cute. I know it’s a big step to share your work with other people and it’s really cool that you’ve done it. I wouldn’t have guessed that English isn’t your first language which is insane. I Ioved this!
(REMEMBER: English is not my first language, so i’m sorry if my grammar is bad. This is also the first time i show any of my writing to strangers so yea be nice plsss)
The room smelled like toast and eggs, Irene’s favourite, and the curtains were slightly open, just enough to light up the room. Besides that, there were also red roses all around her, and of course, there was Kai standing by the side of the bed, smiling like a child and holding a silver tray with breakfast in it.
“Good morning love!” He said, and Irene knew he was trying to hold back his excitment. “Sorry for waking you up early, but today’s such a beautiful morning…”
She smiled and streched her arms. “I’ll forgive you, but only because you made me breakfast.” She sat up and took the toast from the plate, taking a bite out of it.
“Someone’s hungry, huh?” Kai said, giggling, and placed the tray on top of Irene’s lap. “I just hope you like it. Not just the food, i mean all of this.” He picked up a rose from the bed and held it in front of his face. “Did i surprise you?”
Irene laughed. “Well, you do something like this every year, so i can’t say I’m surprised…but i still like it.” She looked at Kai, sighed, and smiled. “And I’m still not tired of it.”
Kai looked down embarrased, grinnig and blushing slightly. “I know it’s cheesy, but we’ve been maried for nearly four years now, and I’m running out of creativity!”
“That’s fine, don’t be silly.” Irene said, cupping his face with her hands. “That’s not what’s this day is about, is it? I’ll be happy with whatever you do for me, really.”
Kai looked at her for a few seconds, and then gave her a kiss. It didn’t last long, but it didn’t need to. It was just another way to say “I love you”, or “I’ts alright.”
“Let’s just have fun today, ok?” He said. “You’ll choose where we’ll go today.”
“Remember this is a day about us, Kai” Irene said, running her hands through his hair. “You don’t need to do everything i want…”
“…Unless i want to.” They both laughed, and Irene took the last bite of her toast.
“Alright, then get dressed, i don’t want to stay home today.” Irene stood up, holding the tray. “I’ll wash the dishes really qui–”
She stopped talking as she felt Kai gently hold her arm. She turned around to see him smiling, looking absolutely beautiful in the sunlight.
“Irene…?” He said, coming closer and giving her one more kiss on her forehead. “Happy wedding anniversary.”
This is amazing! Your writing is beautiful and it’s so in character for both of them- especially the proposal idea which I love. Also Jesus Christ Irene needs a break! Someone get that woman some chocolates, good books and a lock for her door, dear lord. Thanks for writing this, it made me super happy.

Pairing: Irene x Kai
Holidays whilst working for the Library practically never happened. Unless you were injured or someone that you were close to had died in tragic circumstances, you were expected to work. Sure Irene would compare some of her assignments to being like holidays (procuring a book through legal methods on the south coast of France was simply much nicer than thieving one from a mad scientist in Svalbard,) it was incredibly rare that she would be able to sit down and relax without the knowledge that some task was waiting for her.
And that was true for her current assignment, she knew that she was here purely for talks on the treaty, but staying at a very expensive hotel with very little to do outside of the few talks she’d sat in on for the morning, and a panel that she had the next day, to take questions, then she was free to do as she please.
The idea was to try to inform people of the minutiae of the treaty, but most of the people attending were more interesting in making their own much smaller arrangements. She didn’t mind that too much, it meant more paperwork for her, Kai and Sterrington, but as long as they were being civil, they were all quite happy to let the people who had cards in the game to play, whilst they watched and waited to intervene if necessary.
So far, it hadn’t been necessary, so Irene found herself with a free evening, leaning on the edge of the balcony and watching the sun go down between thin wisps of pale white clouds. The sky was painted with brushes of peach and pink, and when Kai looked over from his balcony (one floor up and to the left) he could have sworn that she was aglow with the light.
“Opposed to a visit, madame ambassador?” He softly called, and Irene startled and looked for his voice before finding him. “I fancy a walk in the gardens if you care to accompany me.”
“How long have you been watching me?” She asked, smiling but crossing her arms across her chest. Kai’s pale skin was turned pink in the sunlight, making him look like he had a healthy flush to him, and his hair shone like the wings of a raven as it soared through a summer sky, a black and blue lustre that she wanted to run her fingers through.
“Long enough to know that I’d rather watch you than the sunset.” He replied. “So, that walk?”
“I’ll meet you in the reception in five minutes.” She said. She already had a thin shawl draped around her shoulders but was barefoot.
She beat him down there and she waited by the reception desk. He made her startle again, she’d been watching the lift but he had taken the stairs. “Something is on your mind.” He said as he offered her his elbow. “What is the matter?”
“Nothing.” She shrugged before hooking her arm around his. “It’s so nice and… peaceful. I cannot believe it really.”
“Different to Paris.” Kai acknowledged. “It is quiet. I… kind of like it.”
“I think I would get bored if every day was like this, but it is nice.” There was a side door through into a restaurant, and then patio doors out into the hotel gardens. “I would get so much reading down at the very least.”
“I never thought I would hear you complain about too much reading.”
“No, not that. I don’t know. I think I am too used to things going wrong.” Kai sneezed as they passed a large lavender bush. Irene broke a twig of it off and tucked it into her pocket, knowing that it would make her wardrobe smell of the flowers. “I keep waiting for something to happen. I am tense and anxious because I am so used to things going wrong.”
“I know the feeling,” Kai said. There was a small fish pond and they stopped by it. Kai looked around before tugging her toward the shade underneath a large tree, where they’d only be found if someone was purposefully searching. “I want to relax, but the longer it stays quiet, the harder it gets.”
“Why do we miss people trying to murder us?” Irene sighed before wrapping her arms around his shoulders and rising to her tiptoes in order to kiss his cheek.
“Will anyone miss you soon?”
“No, I have the evening to myself.”
“Excellent.” She smiled. “I have you all evening then.”
“You can have me all night too.” He said with an almost cheeky smirk and a knowing look in his eyes. He tightly wrapped his arms around her middle and pulled her to his chest. “One day, we are both going to wake up and we won’t be waiting for the other shoe to drop. We’ll have days where nothing happens and we aren’t scared for when something does.”
“I want that.” She rested her forehead on his shoulder. “I want to be able to… I don’t want to always feel this massive weight on my shoulders that makes me ache to keep going when things are hard. I want to sleep and not have these nightmares. And I want you to make me jump, not because I am expecting assassins, but because you decided to surprise me.”
Kai pressed his lips to the top of her head. “One day, ‘Rene. I promise you all of that one day. And until then, I promise that I’ll be with you when it is assassins, to hold you when you have nightmares, and I am not half bad at massages, I am sure I can deal with the aches.”
Irene snorted, the sound muffled by his shirt. “That sounds like a proposal.”
“Would it be strange if it was?” She took a step back and looked up at him with wide eyes. “I know that we’d have to keep it a secret and that… if anyone found out we could both be in a lot of trouble, and I am not human but… we could come up with something.”
Irene’s lips were soft against his. One of her hands slid up the back of his neck and found a place in his hair as she pressed herself even closer. He could taste the cherry flavoured salve on her lips and smell the lavender in her pocket as he held her as tightly as she held him. He cupped her face, long fingers stroking over her cheeks and then down the lines of her jaw.
He pulled back a mere inch. “So, what do you say?”
“I don’t need it.” She said, shaking her head. “I need you and your promise, and not any bit of paper or shiny rings.” He smiled. “But if you want that, then yes.” He pulled her in for another kiss, pushing her back against the tree that hid the outpouring of emotions. His hands settled on her hips, keeping her pinned as he parted his lips against hers.
“I don’t need that either.” He said, voice a little rough. “I need you. That is all I need. A promise between just us.” He put two fingers underneath her chin and tilted her head back. “Your word and mine, the promise that we will get peace one day.”
“I promise,” Irene said. She felt a little breathless, heart thudding heavy in her chest. She could feel Kai’s too, beating almost in sync, so close together. She untangled her hand from his hair, and set it against his chest, feeling it underneath her fingertips, feeling the way that it was racing because of her. Racing for her. “I swear.”
“And I promise too.” He said, he ran his thumb below her lip, kiss swollen and parted slightly as she tried to catch her breath, drowning in his embrace but craving that sweet fate of his lips on hers again and a night in his arms. “If we ever don’t have to hide, we can maybe change our arrangement. But for now, this, and you, are absolutely perfect, and far more than I could ever ask for.”
When he kissed her it was hot and rough and just a little bit desperate as neither of them held back any emotion. Irene had never been any good with words, at least not when it came to those purveying to a softer side of her.
But she was good with actions.
And Kai didn’t need any words but her promise when he could feel the outpouring of love that she put into her actions. In the way that she grasped a fistful of his shirt above his heart, in the small, soft purring noise when he parted his lips against hers. In the whimpering noise that she made that night as he kissed his way down her body until they were both sweaty and exhausted and curled up against each other, clinging like the other person was the only solid thing in the world, and like something would rip them away if they weren’t careful.
Irene fell asleep with her head on Kai’s chest as her pillow, hair fanned out like a halo, his fingers running up and down her back and with a promise to fight the nightmares away.
‘Yours, always.’
Yeah, god knows she needs some way to have fun!
Quarantine prompt #18? Bonus if it includes all four characters ;)
“How long will we be inside for?” Irene asked as she stood on tiptoes to fully examine the content of Silver’s kitchen cabinet, specifically the one very well stocked with tea and coffee.”
“Fourteen days.” Kai decided to not point out that, whilst this wasn't Irene’s idea, she had pointed out that it was a good and logical idea.”
“This isn't enough coffee.” Vale muttered, looking over Irene’s shoulder. “Not if we have to deal with Silver for two weeks.”
“You’ll have to switch to tea then.” Kai shrugged, whilst he enjoyed coffee, he didn’t quite understand both Irene’s and Vale’s urge to drink several cups of it with breakfast. It wasn’t that good and most teas had a better taste.
“I suppose.” Irene shrugged. “I suppose that will do, and it’s not like we will ever run out of alcohol staying here.”
Vale hummed. “Yes, the wine cellar is quiet extensive.”
“How do you know that?” Irene was the only one to jump at Silver’s sudden appearance, she’d been examining a tin of tea.
“How on earth do you have this?” Irene interrupted before Vale could respond, holding up the tin of tea. “This is… probably one of the rarer teas in any world that I can name.”
“Do you want to try some?” He asked with a slow smile. If Kai had known that the way to Irene’s heart was tins of rare and expensive teas then he would have done it days after they met, as it was, he did not like the way that Silver looked at Irene.
The expression on Irene’s face was one of shock and excitement that he usually saw when she was reading, it was gentle and endearing and like watching the sunrise. And entirely focused on the tin in her hands, which she was holding like she was terrified of dropping it and spilling the contents.
“What is it?” Kai curiously asked, Irene’s fingers obscured the label.
“Vintage narcissus. I think it would likely be my wages for an entire year for a tin.” She said, looking up. “May I?”
“Of course, little mouse. Anything to see that look on your face again.” Silver raked his eyes over her and Irene wrinkled her nose. “Maybe the gentleman and I will take a foray to the wine cellar to find something that suits our tastes. Maybe some wine for dinner, and then we can have a pot of tea afterwards.” He casually plucked the tin from Irene’s hand and leant across her to put it away again, brushing against her.
Irene bit back a sigh as she felt Silver’s energy brush over her and various fantasies burst into her mind, including one where he’d just drunk the tea, and was kissing her to allow her a chance to taste it upon his lips. She dismissed the notion.
Kai was a far better kisser than he was, she didn’t even need the surge of pain from her brand to ground her against that flash of power, the knowledge that he was more than capable of sneaking up to her bedroom that night certainly did the trick. Maybe with some pilfered alcohol from that aforementioned cellar.
“Alright.” Irene took a large step away and felt a rush of cold air over her skin. “Show the way, because I do not know where this cellar is, and I am very curious about what to steal from you, along with several fascinating books.”
“Which ones?”
“Your Shakespeare folio. I love a challenge, feel free to get more security.” Irene smiled. Kai chuckled. Irene could get quite competitive about breaking in to places, and when he was her student, they would regularly see who could crack a lock (no Language allowed) the quickest. She’d even raced him down a road before, whilst being chased by security, it had been a tie. She was faster, he had longer legs.
Silver led the way back out of the kitchen and to a door at the back of the main staircase. He flicked a light switch and they headed down a steep set of stairs. More lights flickered on at the bottom of the stairs, revealing several rows of shelves full of wines and other alcohols. It looked to be meticulously organised and the shelves were even labelled with types.
“They are in chronological order from when they were bottled.” Silver said. “Starting with the oldest at the far left of the shelf and getting newer toward this side of the room.”
“There’s also an excellent short cut from the servant quarters.” Vale muttered, leaning over so that Irene could just about hear him. “Just in case you need a way in.”
“I could probably get over the garden wall without a lot of hassle.” She replied. “But thank you. Maybe as an exit.” He smirked and nodded. Irene made a note of where he stored the brandy so that, if she did decided to sack the place, she’d have a very good drink before the inevitable arrest.
“Something red.” Silver said with a lazy wave of his hand. “Other than that, see what strikes your fancy.”
This is wonderful! I love seeing them interact all together and I relate to Irene’s intense adoration of tea. The idea of her competing with Silver and Kai for thieving books is amazing, I need more of that! Thanks for writing this.

Oh my gosh, I adore this. He’s super beautiful, thanks for the movie recs as well.
It took me nearly two weeks to figure out who I was picturing as Kai while I was reading. But when I tweeted at Genevieve and she mentioned Chow Yun Fat, that reminded me of Zhang Ziyi (who starred in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon with him) and a movie she starred that I sobbed to last night - House of Flying Daggers. This is a long way of saying I remembered this beautiful man who I was in love with back in 2005 and was who I've been picturing as Kai without even realizing.
Everyone please look at Takeshi Kaneshiro who, circa 1996-2007, is the perfect look for Kai:
Damn, this sounds fantastic, I want to nick food from that picnic.
Any FrostStorm date night headcannons instead? 🖤
Walking through huge palace gardens at sunset (I know they live in Marseille but I'm picturing Alnwick and/or Versailles bc I've never been to Marseille)
There are twinkly lights in the trees and hedges and the fountains are lit in different colours
They go and sit in some closed off area, probably under a tree or something, Li Ming with his head in Ao Shun's lap and Ao Shun absent mindedly running his hands through his hair
Not sure if they're picnic people but if they are, they go all out. Cute blanket, little cakes, cookies, drinks, strawberries, the whole lot
Ao Shun feeds Li Ming said cakes, strawberries etc
As usual, Ao Shun fades into the dark (apart from the glowing red eyes) whereas Li Ming's hair is radiant. Cue the celestial pet names
Li Ming draws constellations on Ao Shun's arms in a silver pen
Adorable kisses which may or may not result in Ao Shun accidentally calling a thunderstorm and/or Li Ming freezing the ground around them
Dancing/kissing in the rain
Li Ming takes his hair down and it's all wavy from constantly being in a plait
The night almost certainly ends in them curled up around each other in their dragon forms
That would be wild, for sure! 😂
Maybe I should write that Irene x Ao Guang thing I jokes about the other month
I love them a ton!!! Silver helping Vale out is especially cute- I really think that they would miss each each other if they weren’t there to make things interesting. This is wonderful, thanks for writing it.
Hiya can I get number 7 of the quarantine prompts for Silver and Vale please? Thanks
"Is this necessary?"
"You sneezed, you get locked away." Silver sounded far too smug. "You must have caught whatever the princeling has. I wonder if you'll be able to convince miss Winters to play nursemaids for you like she is doing for him. I have no qualms if you want me to nurse you to health again though."
"I have several qualms." Vale muttered. "Starting with the headache that you certainly aren't helping." He sneezed again and grimaced. Silver used the cuff of his skirt sleeve to cover his nose and mouth and made a shooing gesture with his hand. "I get it. I'll go to bed."
Vale fell face first into his pillows without bothering to change. He awkwardly kicked his shoes off and blindly dragged half of the duvet over his body and over his head.
He drifted in and out of a feverish sleep, losing track of most of the afternoon as he tossed and turned, waking up uncomfortable and sweaty before falling asleep again.
Sometime after the fifth time he fell asleep and before the sixth, someone knocked on his door and he called out a rather incoherent version of 'go away' which, as it was Silver knocking, went ignored.
"Are you coming down for dinner?"
"Go 'way."
"Thats a no then. Do you not know how to correctly use a bed?" Silver leant on the doorframe. "Or at the very least, correctly use it for sleeping? Your head goes on the pillow, dear. And most people own pyjamas? I don't understand why, it's considerably more comfortable to sleep in the nude of course."
"If I had something to throw at you, I would." Vale muttered, his hair was half undone and he pushed it away from his face.
"You can save the flirting for when you feel better." Silver waltzed into the room and set a tea tray down. "I made you a pot of nice mint tea to drink. Sit up."
"Thank. You?" Vale shifted to upright and squinted at Silver in the gloom, his hair the brightest thing in the dark.
"Drink up. It's boring without you around."
This is gonna be awesome!
the first one scene of this fic is 3500 words
uh
whoops?
Jesús Christ, these are insane. That ice skating one is straight out of a Victorian novel, only in that version you’d die tragically. The canal one is funny as. Irene and Kai’s ones are ridiculously relatable. I once walked straight into a metal sign because I was reading and I had a red imprint of it for the rest of the day.
Invisible Library characters as stupid things that I've done
Irene: missed her stop on the train because she was reading not once, not twice but four times on three seperate occasions
Kai: fallen down the stairs of a bookshop because he couldn't see over the top of the pile of books in his hands
Vale: set fire to a science experiment because he was bored
Silver: fallen over laughing and been too drunk to stand up again.
Everiste: missed a train so he burst into tears
Li Ming: went ice skating, fell through the frozen lake and got pnemonia
Ao Shun: got stuck three miles from home in the middle of a thunder storm because he thought he could run faster than a storm
Ao Guang: fallen into the canal because he didn't want to cycle through a patch of mud.
Aww, this is sweet and explains pretty thoroughly Irene’s sudden decrease in productivity! Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed it.
Kissing prompts 13 and 16
"I'm trying to work, stop distracting me."
"I thought you liked it when I kissed you." Irene slowly exhaled and wished the room was several degrees colder. She toyed with her pen and did not look up at Kai. "You could do with a break."
"I doubt I'll get back to work if I had a break down." She muttered. "I would not complain if you brought up a cup of tea for me though." He smirked.
"So, I'm a very good distraction?" Kai carefully tucked hair behind her ear, stroking the tip of his finger along her skin, over her forehead first, and then down her neck. Irene couldn't suppress a shiver. "I'll take that as a compliment."
"You're incorrigible." Kai shrugged.
"You wouldn't love me if I changed. How about we come up with a deal?" He put his hand on top of hers and took the pen, leaning back and playing with it, spinning it around his fingers.
"Let's hear it." Irene sighed, she wasn't going to be getting any work done if he didn't leave her alone. He was a very good (irritating) distraction. She sat back in her chair, turning it slightly to face him.
She had a large desk tucked against a window so that she could get some of the meagre natural light that made its way through, and if not, the street lamps and her desk lamp did the trick. Right now, Kai's face was thrown into sharp profile by her desk lamp and she wanted to trace the lines of his cheeks with her fingers.
"You put the work away for the rest of today and I'll leave you alone tomorrow afternoon."
"What about the morning?"
"Oh, sweetheart." He swept his eyes over her before leaning in and dropping his voice low. "You're going to need a nice, long lay in once we're done tonight."
Irene swallowed.
"Deal."
I've done 16 before, I'll see if I can find you a link, I'd do it again, but I'm really not in the mood for anything like that right now
That would definitely be fun! 😂
so do we like/want smut in this fandom corner? I'm trying to decide what to write first when I am so super late in joining...
Ooh, that sounds super nice. This post has just devolved into intense cheese adoration and I’m here for it! Guyere is also super lovely, like on a gallette with spinach and walnuts- perfection!
Irern: So what’s for dinner?
Vale: [staring at the food he just burnt] Regret.
You know what’s great- HALLOUMI! It is such a fantastic cheese, I genuinely get cravings for it. Yeah, I understand the French cheese love that you’ve got going on.
Irern: So what’s for dinner?
Vale: [staring at the food he just burnt] Regret.
I’ll go goats cheese because it is a superior cheese and all-round fabulousness. Needs some peppers or some basil and tomato to go with though. How about you?
Irern: So what’s for dinner?
Vale: [staring at the food he just burnt] Regret.
If it makes you feel better, I didn’t even notice anything was wrong and had to proper stare at it to realise what was going on, my brain is like a cheese sandwich.
Irern: So what’s for dinner?
Vale: [staring at the food he just burnt] Regret.
Aww, this is adorable! They’re one of my fave couples of all time.
Kai and Irene walk into a hotel room (pre-lost plot) and Kai sulking because there's two beds
I feel like Kai would have an aneurysm if someone ruined his suit. He’s super particular, but Irene isn’t so bothered.
Kai and Irene dancing a tango during some book heist or another and it's like 90% sexual tension and flirting poorly disguised as them discussing work and 10% them actually discussing the work
It goes off without a hitch but Kai needs a veeeeery cold shower afters.
Like if you agree
Ooh, super pretty. I relate too hard to Kai right now. Yes, all the sexual tension, let’s go!

This is fabulous! You’re is hilarious and I love their dynamic, especially Vale leaping from the chair like his life depends on it. Thanks so much for writing.
Hiya, could you do number 1 on the quarantine writing prompts for Silver and Vale please?
“You. Me. Quarantined for two weeks. Anything could happen.”Silver purred, leaning on the arm of Vale’s chosen armchair, well stuffed, near to the window, within arms reach of a coffee table. It was dark red.
“Yeah. I may kill you. Or we may both get sick.” Vale dryly said, he was flipping through a notebook, going over the notes of a recent case that would hopefully be going to trial when the quarantine was over. “Can I help you? You are in my light.” Silver got up, walked around the back of the chair, dragging his fingers across Vale’s shoulders and back, Vale suppressed a shiver. He sat on the other arm.
“Is this better?”
“If you insist.” He said dryly. “Are you just here as an irritating distraction? Or do you actually have some purpose in being here?”
“This is my home.”
“Yes. You are an incredibly observant man. So you have any other shockingly new observations? Anything else that I may have missed?”
“I like this armchair.”
“I can tell. There were three strands of your hair on it when I sat down, and your slippers in front of it. I assume that the position by the window was intended for you to be able to watch the streets.” Vale said, flipping his page. “You like to know what is going on at all times and the view allows you to see who is coming to your door, and when they leave as well.”
“Anything else?”
“It was recently reupholstered, suggesting that you frequently throw yourself down onto it in a pique of melodramatic fitting.”
“Actually it was because I happen to enjoy bringing my bed partners up to this room.” Vale jumped out of the chair, stumbling over Silver’s slippers. “Oh, good lord you are gullible.” He slipped off the arm and landed over the chair. “No, you were… right the first time.” Vale had dropped his notebook in his rush to get out of the seat and Silver picked it up and held it out to him. “Thank you for the entertainment though.”
Vale snatched the notebook out of his hand. “You disgust me.”
“Would whiskey make you feel better? There’s a drinks cabinet over there.” He waved his hand toward the sideboard at the side of the doors. “If you fancy one, feel free to pour me a glass too.” Vale was going to snap back at him that he wasn't a servant, but a glass of whiskey sounded like a good idea, so he opened up the cabinet and plucked out the first bottle that he found, holding it up to examine it.
“This is good stuff.” Vale mainly said to himself as he unstoppered a bottle and splashed some into a glass.
“Of course it is.” Silver replied with an idle flutter of his fingers. “I have superb taste in alcohol, amongst other…” He watched Vale bend over to put the bottle away again. “Things.” He finished.
“I doubt you have good taste in most things.” Vale replied. He put the glass within Silver’s reach and kept the bottle in his hand. “I will give you this though. Thanks for the drink.”
“You’re welcome!” Silver called as Vale let the door shut with a thunk behind him.
Aww, very cute. Yeah, I agree about Kai being somewhat of a hopeless romantic.
Hiya, what do you reckon for 8 of the otp questions? Thanks
I think Irene probably would prefer if people didn't know that Kai was her student because they may judge her so they say that they met through work which is correct anyway.
Kai probably likes to describe Irene exactly as they met, right down to the gravel in her hair, followed by that he knew she was the one as soon as he saw her argue with Bradamant because he likes that fiery side about her.
Irene tells it very factually and calls him an idiot but kisses him anyway
Thanks, this is exactly what I needed today, it’s been a very fun day and you provided the cherry on top. It’s super sweet and your writing is gorgeous.
Hiya, can I get why are you in a tree for Kai and Irene please? Thanks.
“Why are you in a tree?” Li Ming asked, looking up at Irene and Kai perched on a thick tree branch.
“Why aren’t you in a tree?” Kai replied, Irene had a book in her hands and Kai had been reading it over her shoulder. They’d moved apart slightly when they’d heard Li Ming coming. Kai’s arms had been around her middle with his cheek on her shoulder before hand.
“Are you stuck?” He frowned.
“No, but Irene may be.” Kai replied, poking Irene in the side. She slid her bookmark in between the pages and turned to him with a sniff.
“I am more than capable of getting out of a tree.” She replied, then she looked down at Li Ming. “Is there something that you needed off one of us, Lord Li Ming?”
“His majesty Ao Shun is looking for prince Kai. I will let him know that he’s stuck up a tree.” Li Ming said, before bowing, and disappearing back into the large orchard that was over looked by one of the more luxurious palaces that Irene had seen.
“I suppose that I should see what that is about.” Kai sighed. Irene slipped the book into her bag. “But I will come and find you once we are done?”
“I’ll probably have to start getting ready for tonight soon.” Irene said. “But I will see you then.” Kai smiled before leaning in to kiss her.
“I will see you there, you’re going to be the most beautiful woman there, I already know it.” Irene rolled her eyes. “Don’t look at me like that. I know you will be, you don’t need make up or fine dresses to look beautiful. You just need a good book and your eyes light up.”
“You are too kind.” She replied.
“No, I’m not. It’s like… like watching the sunrise. Watching you light up is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen and I could sit and watch you read all day.”
“Sadly we have duties. You should see to your uncle before he sends Li Ming back out here.” Kai slipped one arm underneath her thighs and the other around her shoulders. Irene laced her fingers around the back of his neck and shut her eyes as Kai jumped down from the tree.
There was a rush of air against her face and then they landed and Kai set her on her feet. She opened her eyes again. “I will see you soon.” She said softly. “Don’t keep me waiting tonight, you’re my dance partner after all.”
“I get a dance?”
“You’ll get two if you ask nicely.”
And constantly only a minute away from being murdered. There’s the small issues of the thieving, the mercenaries, the scheming but yeah, no major bad points.
Silver: we’ve all got our weaknesses
Silver: i, personally, am tragically funny and good-looking
Oh, my, god. The second hand embarrassment is strong in this one. Urgh, this is hilarious!
Kai: Come on, Uncle, the math problem isn’t what’s keeping you and Li Ming apart. You two just need to bone.
Irene: [strangled frightened noise]
Ao Shun: What did you just say?
Irene: Don’t say it again!
Kai: I said you two need to bone.
Irene:
Ao Shun:
Ao Shun: how
Ao Shun: dare you, Ao Kai
Ao Shun: I am a king!
[one minute later]
Ao Shun: BONE?
[three minutes later]
Ao Shun: What happens in my bedroom, nephew, is NONE of your business.
[five minutes later]
Ao Shun: BOOooOOOOONe?
[ten minutes later]
Ao Shun: Don’t. ever.
Ao Shun: speak to me like that again.
This is super adorable! Silver and cats go perfectly together, thanks for writing.
Could you write Silver getting a cat please?
Silver smiled, the corners of his lips curling slowly as he listened to the kitten purr as it eagerly nuzzled its forehead against the side of his leg. “That will not make me go any quicker.” He muttered, not that the pet would ever respond with much more than a Miaow or even more purring.
He regularly spoke to the cat now that it was a semi-regular staple in the house, coming and going as it pleased, he wasn’t even entirely sure on the creature’s name, he just called it ‘Little’, but always coming around the same time in the evening, when Silver was preparing a meal.
He could have had a maid do it, but Silver found something quite enjoyable in the art of cookery, something about the way that he could put his own unique twist on classic recipes, and the way that whoever he was dining with for the night would savour their meal, before their dessert upstairs.
But tonight, it was just Little that joined him, jumping up through the window that he’d left open to allow them in, and then down again, to slink around his ankles and serve as a tripping hazard as he searched for the bundle of rosemary in the cupboard.
He kept some fish, usually just tinned mackerel, for Little, but as he was cooking fish for himself that night, he had put some to the side, covered with a glass dome, for Little to eat with him.
“If you will be patient, we can sit down and eat together.” Silver said, finding the herbs out, more for garnish than anything, in some of the more high tech worlds that he had visited (he hadn’t particularly enjoyed them even if the mobiles had made finding partners so much easier)he could have made a killing posting pictures of his meals to one of the various social media sites that they all seemed to have. Instapin or something like that, he couldn’t remember.
He scooped Little up and put them on a cushioned chair, he then frowned and left the room. He came back in with two more cushions, picked Little up again (who had jumped up onto the counter to sniff at his meal) and set him on top of the two cushions on top of the chair, so that he could reach his plate.
“There we go, a little more civilised.” He collected their plates and set Little’s down. “Bon Appetite.” He had a glass of wine by his seat and toasted the kitten. “What a way to spend a birthday.”
I mean, it’s not really his cat, but the cat does have him very well trained?
Ooh, that’s an interesting name derivation. I too love the storm clouds the sky looks beautiful!
Yeah, when Silver approves, that’s pretty much a guarantee you’ve got something wrong. 😂
Ooh, this is very louche! Silver would approve.
