Yes, yes, yes! Someone has finally said it! ππ»ππ»ππ»
Umm,,, who said that poppy x cas is now poppy x cas x kieran? Their love for kieran is not the same as the love they have for each other π how many more times do they have say this? Just because they are joined now doesn't mean that they are in a poly relationship (which is okay if they are but they're not). The atlantians had joined wolven and mortals far before poppy was even born and Jen never said they all were in poly relationships. Why do the rules change now? Because it's poppy and she can't have sex without being in love with someone? Why are you guys being hypocrites?
Honest to Nyktos.
Kieran is like "why does Poppy ask so many questions" my brother in Nyktos you keep answering them.
twotq thought dump
it's not as if the bond between poppy and keiran came out of nowhere. they bonded over someone they have a deep connection with being taken from them.
i can't really say i understand the feelings around the joining because i think it was handled extremely well. i think that saying it's suddenly a poly ship is just factually untrue. let's remember they even said that if keiran found someone he wanted to live forever with them they would do the joining again.
i think that people upset with the post joining way they are are people who may not be able to get passed the monogamy-centric ideals of western culture to see that sex and love are a complicated beast.
it was a well done exploration of how sex and love come in all forms and i adored it.
i totally called poppy being a primal btw.
i love her powers so much, and it was so fun to see reaver and nektas again.
thank god isbeth is dead. fuck that bitch.
"I hate this book so I'm gonna make 63826 hate posts about it" my sister in christ you can simply not read it or ignore its existence altogether
after perusing twitter for a bit, i have stuff to say so have some more twotq content.
what we're not gonna do is be fucking racist because you don't like the joining. if you can't criticize it without using slurs, then shut your goddamn mouth.
what we're also not gonna do is twist canon around.
the joining was always implied to have sexual undertones. it just was. it was set up that drinking blood from someone can be a sexual experience.
casteel and keiran are basically soulmates. casteel trusts keiran with poppy. he always has. this idea that he walk cucked or betrayed is fucking stupid and degrading to their relationship.
poppy, cas, and keiran have been in sexual situations together.
keiran heard cas finger poppy in the forest, the night of the wedding, when poppy woke up from her assention. their dynamic has never not had at least touches of sexuality in it. it's simply a fact.
i mentioned it in another post but i really think that these ideas of monogamy as the only true form of love that are so ingrained in our society are really what's pushing this victimization of cas and it's fucking ridiculous.
all three of them wanted it, and their dynamic really didn't change afterwards.
a giant portion of the fandom is just blowing this so far out of proportion. it would be funny if it wasn't so frustrating.
Honestly, though. What's wrong with everyone complaining about the concept of the ENTIRE series..? Didn't you read the ones that came TWoTQ at all? There could not have any other scene as anticipated as the Joining in the book. Plus, Kieran and Poppy built an entire relationship. It wasn't slow, exactly but it was also not so abrupt as for people to not see it coming.
I did not find a single instance of 'emotional cheating' as some people are calling it. It was more trauma bonding that anything else and it was completely pure.
Only after Casteel comes back do they even think about it. Every single step, including the process of Joining, is discussed between all three of them and decided on. In fact, Casteel is ready to dive in while Poppy and Kieran slowly overcome their hesitation about the Joining.
Until the very moment it happens, Kieran gives both of them the option to turn back, no questions asked. It didn't happen at knife-point and he wouldn't have held anything against them. It was Cas and Poppy who could not imagine life without him who decided to go ahead with it.
Leading upto this, Kieran and Poppy did not have a single inappropriate scene. Not a single one. There is one scene, from the many where Kieran sleeps in her bed in wolven form, when he turns back to his mortal form to console her and he's naked. Even at this time, nothing happens. I think the feelings do develop and build slowly over time( if they even do, because they may or may not be romantic, as much as a soul link kind of thing).
I actually think that if Poppy and Kieran actually got together behind Cas' back( as some people keep saying), Cas would probably not mind. Because it would NOT be behind his back. Whatever Poppy feels, Poppy might herself not understand but Cas always has and always will. He may have known it since the very beginning.
Another thing that Poppy keeps repeating is that she's afraid to lose Kieran as much as Cas, and that's the main reason she pushes for the Joining. And Cas agrees with it and has brought it up before on many occasions before when they would've been Joined to him instead of Poppy. He was much more onboard with the plan, than the other two ever were.
Last, I promise, this is the last thing. Cas has never ever, ever been jealous of any Poppy-Kieran interactions. The very first time he, um, relieves her in the forest, Kieran is right there and quite obviously, within earshot which meant he had to know that Kiran would know.
Later, he holds onto a naked Poppy who was, um, busy, with Cas and not in her right mind and Cas doesn't say a word about it. Then when Cas is completely unable to think beyond his hunger and Poppy's helping him come back to himself, Kieran's there, too. And both Poppy and Cas realise that they missed him when he left them alone with each other.
Cas-Poppy-Kieran are soulmates. Maybe in a lot of different ways than the ones some people are able to comprehend. I really was disappointed with the hate the author was getting for her work. Even if you didn't like it, you could've just stopped reading. What's the use of taking it out on the author when she had already made repeated mentions of the events that took place in the story?
Hope people learn to read and interpret for themselves, and own up to their own decisions instead of blaming others. <3
after finishing the war of two queens, i came to the conclusion that some of you simply cannot read <3
