Not Your Hero

Chapter 3

Run Ins and Out Runs

Griffin stares at the angry eyes in front of him, searching for any kind of answer.

"Dad was never around, Grif. Mom took care of us the best she could as a single mother."

Once again, the man was stunned into silence.

"What are you talking about? She was never a single mother when I was around. She would cook for us nightly and dad would take us hunting, fishing and fighting almost every weekend."

Axel shakes his head violently while Griffin takes another step toward the shorter man.

"Who do you think taught you to fight the way you can? Did she teach you how to do that?"

"That's not our father. That may be mom's friend that agreed to step up to take his place, but that's no father."

Griffin lets out a bitter laugh "Is that what she told you?"

"Yes, and I would believe her over anyone."

He rolls his eyes as his brother keeps monologuing.

"Unlike you, dad and just about everyone else in the village, she hasn't left me."

Scoffing, Griffin walks past his brother, shoving him by the shoulder as he makes his way for the door instead.

"Just like she said you would, you're walking out on me again."

The reality of what was said hit him hard. Griffin had seen this situation unravel before. He had seen the way the truth could be twisted.

He heard the same foolish words that his brother was spouting, time and time again, just from different lips.

Griffin couldn't tell anyone the last time he heard something that his mother said from her own lips. He could remember what was said, every wound that was inflicted, every pained expression that passed the faces of the people around them.

Every time his mother said something about him that he heard, it was that Griffin, her own son, was nothing more than a vile beast. Without fail, she would follow it up with every accident he could have ever possibly made, blown out of proportion.

Shaking himself out of the memory, he glares up to Axel.

"You truly must be more naive than you look. I pray to whatever you might believe in that you receive mercy in place of the brains that you weren't blessed with."

    Blind rage overtakes the smaller man as he throws his weight into Griffin's chest. The taller man didn't budge very much, but there was too much pain in his heart to truly care in the moment. Pounding his fist into his brother's abdomen angrily, he growled out.

"You don't know a single thing about me! You left before you could ever take the title of my brother! Who told you that you could just come back here, help me out on one thing, and then lecture me on a family tree that you were barely a part of?!"

With no real struggle, Griffin turned and aimed his fist to the bridge of Axel's nose. Tears sprout in the corners of his eyes. Blood dripped to the floor and stained the taller man's shoes. Another punch. Then another.

A sickening crack. Both men take steps back, panting heavily and trying to collect themselves. Griffin keeps himself to the left wall, and Axel to the right, holding his nose and letting his eyes water freely. Griffin drops his head and shakes it.

"I can tell you every single thing our father did for us and you're going to sit there, stare at me and say it was someone else? I can tell you for the ten years that I was a part of the family what we did and where we started to fall apart, WHY we started to fall apart, and you want to believe that she is the patron saint that saved you?"

Axel slides down the wall and sighs heavily, defeat clear across his face.

"Go ahead then. Tell me. Please, tell me the truth."

—---------------------------------------------------------------

"You look unwell." Obsidian eyes trail up and down the body in front of the oppressor.

"No thanks to you, my love."

A heavy sigh echoes through the room.

"You are in no state to voice your frustrations with me. You are the one who let my sons get away alive. Do not disappoint me again."

The woman's voice held no sympathy, which came as no surprise to the man in front of her. The man takes off his mask tainted with a smile as he nods.

"As you wish, Ximena."

Not Your Hero (an original work of mine)

There are plenty of words a mother could use to describe her son. Dashing, witty, handsome or strong. If someone were to ask Ximena Armstrong, however, only one of her boys would be introduced in such a proud light. If they asked about the other one, they would receive a strained compilation of complaints that he is vile, twisted, or a hateful beast. There are two sides to every story, though. What made a mother turn her back so quickly?

No one has ever gotten close enough to either party to ask for their side. One thing is for certain, Griffin Emiliano is a dangerous man, and Ximena Armstrong is a pathological liar.

Yet on an uneventful day in Betrothal, a group set out to find the answers to all the possible questions anyone could ask. When they find two boys, an anklet and a pile of bodies, there are too many questions to ask and not enough time for the answers before the doors are busted in and everyone is a suspect.

Chapter 1

“I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but if you run any slower, the snails will escape before we do!” A bellowing voice echoes through the halls of the underground chambers. Clambering behind him, a much softer voice rang out. “I’m sorry! This is my first time performing illegal acts, so sorry I can’t keep up with your vigilante lifestyle!” Turning on his heel, Gryffin casts a stone cold glare to his brother. “Don’t forget why we’re in this mess. You thought it would be a good idea to find the anklet, now three guards are dead and the blood is on your hands, kid.” Looking to the floor, Axel shrinks into himself; “I didn’t mean to…” “doesn’t matter the intention. It is the result that everyone will see. Remember that in everything you do.” Before another word was said, a loud crash brings the brothers out of their tension and drives their attention back to the situation at hand. Escaping certain death and bringing the anklet home to their mother, the smartest archeologist in their village. The winding chambers seemed to be getting slimmer and turning into simple tunnels, but with that, the duo noticed that the end of a tunnel was in sight. With reinforcements hot on their trail, Gryffin roars “Ximena will kill us if she finds out people died for that thing.” “Can you just call her mom?” “Not when she won’t call me her son.” “Well maybe if you-” Axel’s voice is cut off with another crash, the barrels in front of them breaking, causing whatever fruits and vegetables to scatter across the floors and stain their shoes more than the mud could. “Not another step, thief. Such a shame that I’ll have to tear such a pretty face to shreds” A masked man with a gentle but firm voice says, backing his words with a sword pointed to Axel’s face. The mask was unsettling at best, sporting a crooked smile with red teeth and white eyes, it’s a wonder the man could see through it. Though unsettling, he was right about Axel’s face. Unlike his brother, his face was pristine and untouched, his pale skin was a perfect target for a sadistic man such as the one in front of him. Questions hung on the tip of the blade as well as the tip of his tongue he realized it was getting closer, but he hadn’t taken a step. “If I can’t take another step, why can you?” “If I can’t take the anklet, why can you?” Comes the quick retort. “Well, technically you could, you just didn’t take that leap that you needed in order to actually grasp it.” With his sharp words and the tension rising, Gryffin grabbed Axel and made a mad dash for the light they witnessed moments earlier. Axel thrashed wildly, kicking the boxes of fruits and vegetables down to make more of a mess for the masked men to clean up later on. “I’m going to drop you if you keep doing that.” He warns with a scowl. “Right, sorry.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was nothing fancy about the village the boys lived in. Past every market on the left there was an alley that the homeless would find themselves digging through, praying to whoever was out there to spare a little mercy for one more day as they cling onto what little humanity they hold. For the homeless that couldn’t fight their way through, the market’s right side would hold the bodies. It seemed everywhere one turned there was another person riddled by disease and famine. When the people in command were brought to the village to speak their grievances, they were brushed off, laughed at and then given one day’s worth of food for the women and children. Proving that they were simply sitting with another government that couldn't care less for the people under their control, but gave the bare minimum so there were still people able to BE controlled. Griffin hated everything about the village. He could never wrap his head around why so many people still lived in such a ghost town. The people were reduced to nothing more than beggars and thieves with nothing to live for, but had the fight and the iron will of soldiers with the world to lose. Under heavy lids, he drags himself into a makeshift shack, calling it a house for them to stay in as the night ticks by. Axel stared at the ceiling, wondering how long it had been since he saw his brother. His once soft features now hardened with the years of war and murder, tanned skin now scarred and hands calloused. Those green eyes that once shined like stars now cut like emeralds that were thrown to the ground by a child throwing a fit. Black hair that was once short and well taken care of has now grown unkempt and matted. “What is going on in that head of yours?” The man in question growled out. “How old are you now, Grif?” “Twenty three, but you didn’t answer my question. What is the issue?” Axel shakes his head quickly. “I was just wondering what went wrong with us… Why did our family fall apart the way it did? Why did you leave? Why-” Griffin cuts him off swiftly “You ask too many questions, Ax. That will be your downfall.” A deep silence settles across the room after Axel nods “mom says that too.” Griffin lets out a heavy sigh after a while and asks something that he sounds like he has been dreading for a long time. “Where is dad?” Axel stands with a speed like no other and starts for the door. “Ax-” “If you can call that monster our dad but can’t call her our mother then you are no brother of mine.” Confused, angry and a little hurt, Griffin throws the closest object at his younger brother’s feet. “Are you gonna tell me what happened or are you going to let me believe that he was a good man and she was the monster, kid?”
Okay but who invented the trope of the 'hero's side kidnaps the Villains very sweet,meek, kind sidekick/friend/relative for a hostage situation but turns out they're actually scarier than the villain' and have they been awarded a noble peace prize yet. (Bonus points if they're very bossy and the villian is low-key scared of them. Also if they're very old.)
"Hello Villain, we've kidnapped x—" "I'm sorry." "Well you should be and uh," " No, I'm sorry for you, good luck." *Hangs up*
Hero "We don't want anybody to get hurt." "Me either," *standing up already having undid their bindings* "So if you'll just step aside."
*Tiny person dressed in bloodstained pastel colours and floral designs walks into villains lair with a single fork in hand* "Villain! How long does it take to pick up a single person from the hero's, I had to walk all the way over here!" Villain*sweating* "I'm sorry."
Peak himbo/herbo/thembo energy in the trope of "being sure your enemy has crush on when they absolutely definitely 100% don't"+ making more and more ridiculous reasons to believe they do.
Villain-: Did you see how red they were when they saw me!! They are sooo smitten.
Overworked henchmen-: could be cause they had chase you on rooftops across half the city but *shrugs*
Villain-: they literally turned the city upside down to find me! They missed me so much. Ahhh
Henchmen- I mean you were holding people hostage but what do I know.
V-: They love watching me work. They were in my lab the entire day yesterday.
H-: You literally kidnapped them but sure.
This trope is my drug.
So close to 100follows. Pls help
Obsessed with the new dynamic that I'll call 'youre fired if you die'
A is boss/king of b. A is gruff and mean and socially awkward. B is sassy and sunshine and also mean. They do NOT like each other.
What follows is an idiots to lovers office romance filled with lots of bickering, ordering around (by grumpy) and mediaeval fantasy equivalent of unionization attempts ( by sunshine)
Highlights include-
"You're late." "It's literally just half a minute." "It'll be cut from your pay."
*sneezes in front of expensive object* *from the other room* "That'll be cut from you're pay"
*working slowly cause they cut they're hand or something* "Work faster." "I'm literally bleeding, can't you ask how I'm doing like a normal human." *Unable to in fact express concern like a normal human* "Well, stop bleeding."
And off course, *Actually dying* *in tears* "I'll fire you if you die"
Pls follow to help grow
I’m lost
Ok so I’ve been trying to find content with a VERY specific story/ship and I’m out of luck so I’m turning to tumblr to see if you have any answers.
So the whole thing basically goes like the hero party has one member that is vastly under appreciated and is at some point betrayed/left behind by the group. Then this can go one of two ways cause both are awesome:
Either the villain finds the character and takes them under their wing, eventually reuniting with the hero’s party where the character WRECKS them. Villain x character romance is alright.
Or the character finds their own way out a d BECOMES the villain, learning from their past and becoming badass. Eventually reuniting with and kicking the asses of the people who left them.
Thank you for any help you can give!
:)
