Completely unrelated but I have a RWBY Enneagram chart in the making ! Some types are harder to fill out than others (let's just say some types are overly present on Remnant xD) but I'll manage... somehow. Probably.
If you know anything about enneagram don't hesitate to share with me your predictions 👀
If you know nothing about it but you're curious, don't hesitate to check it out here !
For a short summary : enneagram is a typology system (like MBTI or Socionics or other stuff hanging around). But moreso than personality & simply giving out traits for you to relate to; Enneagram is actually a helpful tool, focusing on WHY you act the way you do, discussing the coping mechanism that built themselves out of your childhood traumas/struggles (big & small). Enneagram is about fears, motivations, and how you relate to 3 main emotions (fear, anger & shame). There are 9 types : 3 for each emotion because it distinguishes 3 main ways to react to them. For short & more crudely... enneagram tells you how you suck and why xD But also & mostly, it can help putting words on (maybe) some of your struggles & how to grow from there. And if it doesn't do anything for you eh, ditch it no harm no foul !
On a lighter note you can totally just use it for fun to compare yourself to fictionnal characters. Nothing scientifically proven here, no need to overthink over it. Just a potentially helpful tool & a chance to have fun !
There’s a lot of things to like about Kaito as a character, but one of those things that I don’t see talked about nearly enough is his absolutely fantastic character arc. Yes, you heard me – while his main role in the story may seem to be to support Shuichi and Maki’s development, that doesn’t stop Kaito from having an arc of his own too. It’s technically not character “development” if you define that as a character growing stronger and overcoming their problems, since that’s rather pointedly not what happens with Kaito, but it’s nonetheless a progression that is a clearly deliberate part of the story. It’s just done very subtly – which is precisely why I like it so much and one of the biggest reasons Kaito is my favourite character in V3. I still enjoy character arcs that are fairly out in the open, like Shuichi’s and Maki’s are thanks to Kaito encouraging them to talk about things, but I enjoy delightfully subtle character writing even more, and that’s exactly what Kaito’s arc is.
So I’m going to talk about it. At great length. Strap yourselves in.

Reaching Out breakdown Part 1 : Luz & Amity
Last ep was AMAZING. Best ep of the S2B in my opinion, seeing as the show (so far) has suffered a bit from trying to put 2 plotlines in each episode (I don't hold it against them seeing as Disney is cutting them short), plotlines that weren't always cohesive or could appear to take time from each other. But the last one ?? *chief's kiss*
To start off : we are still left with 2 plotlines (even more we could say) but as they are all focused in the same place, the overall pacing & the episode itself is way more cohesive and it allows them time to let everyone have their spotlight & development without any frustration. There are even more plotlines than the previous ep and it is still AMAZING. Because let's review, we have :
Luz struggling with the aniversary of her dad's passing + still reeling from the ramifications of not being able to go back home
Amity trying to relate to her dad, fighting for her future and suffering the consequences of Luz's inability to reach out
Eda scheming and attempting to get informations out of the warden Wrath regarding Raine & the Day of Unity
Edric feeling useless, overshadowed & out of place compared to his siblings because of his "jack-of-all-trades" disposition that isn't highly valued by most of the witches world.
Development of Amity's family in general, through making Alador more of a character with his own failings (neglect) different from Odalia's downright abusive and controlling behaviour, and showing more of Edric & Emira's personnalities.
And all of the plotlines went together swimmingly, which I really really loved ! Like, my fav character is probably Hunter, I really liked Any Sport in a Storm, but I can't tell you how much I appreciated Reaching Out. It made me love & care soo much about Luz & Amity all over again.
Point n°1 : The Lumity, and Luz & Amity themselves, were absolutely amazing. I absolutely love these girls' relationships but was personally sorta dissatisfied with their intervention in Any Sport in a Storm... Mostly because I don't really care about the Luzura books and thus this subplot really didn't speak to me. THIS EP THOUGH ? Both of them really shined, as HUMANS with mistakes to their name.
-> Luz, for starter, is an amazing teenager. She's friendly, curious, full of energy & compassion. But it's also refreshing to let her make mistakes & be imperfect : in this episode, she wasn't. She was going through a really hard time, and inadvertently used Amity to distract herself from it even if it meant only ''pretending'' to be doing this for her & inadvertently causing her trouble in the end. The episode acknowledged it, but didn't bash Luz in any way for it. Because we as humans are a complex canvas and wonderful people can make mistakes, can hurt people. And it doesn't make them any wonderful as a package. Luz, in general, has a problem (similar to Eda) with sharing what's bothering her. It's 2 times in a row now that she's failed to share with Amity what was on her mind and brushed her off, and this time really managed to show how hurtful it can be as the other party, even if Luz doesn't have any ill will while doing this. This episode allowed Amity to be upset over Luz (however inadvertent) hurtful actions & how her tendency to run away from her emotions can come back to bite her in the back later.
Luz acknowledged what she did was wrong, that she had reasons but not excuses, she even let herself express some ugly feelings; and she genuinely apologized. She allowed herself to be weak and to share what was bothering HER, all while admitting that her way of coping wasn't healthy or fair to Amity. I loved that, not because I hate Luz but because she's a teenager, she will make mistakes as we all do, and what she did showed an incredible emotional maturity. I am only proud of her <3
-> Amity got another episode to shine again as her own person, to explore her aspirations for the future outside of her realtionship to Luz, and how she felt about her other parent. She was allowed this episode to be disappointed & upset over the turn of event, and to show how Luz's inability to share her problems was hurting her girlfriend (both mentally & in more concrete ways). At the same time, Amity showed incredible care & gentleness because these two love each other and Luz had a damn good reason to be feeling down and out of place. A concept I heard in a Cinema Therapy video is called "putting it on a shelf" : it occurs when (in any kind of relationships) both people have something they want to do or say, or both have an issue; but one of said things/issues is way more important at the present time and so you put "on hiatus" your own situation to properly take care of the other. Amity this episode made a great use of this concept, and showed herself to truly be an "Awesome Girlfriend".
Amity listening intently to Luz and dropping the judgment as soon as her girlfriend opened up, as well as taking the time to reassure her that she LISTENED, she HEARD and she definitely CARED for what she was going through was an absolutely amazing show of love; and I appreciated that so so much.
In conclusion : an incredible Lumity episode, that doesn't hesitate to tackle some very real issues with honesty but kindness. These girls are still growing, they're bound to make mistakes. But so long as they care about each other and vow to do better : they will be okay.
Part 2 with the other plotlines incoming !
And another meme for the road !
I made myself sad with this meme bc I realized that the last box is basically just characters who learnt that disagreeing lead nowhere good and they can't win :) (headcannonish in Tai's case but I just can't see Raven concede a point to anyone in a debate) *holds gently the three* You deserve better.
For clarification :
- Cinder only avoids people who disagree with her in the sense that she kills them. - Maria ain't got time to argue with people and she doesn't care.
- JRP + O are civilized and then there's Nora - RWBY all have different ways of dealing with disagreements so I guess they're balanced in that sense at least
I established the difference between "Their opinion is as valid as mine" & "I will talk to them" in that characters in the latter are firmly convinced to be right and aim to change others' mind. Whereas characters of the former category have their opinions but don't necessarily think they're more right.
Gonna make some memes for fun in the following days
Enjoy (or not and yell at me for my dubious choices)
YES YES.
THIS. SO MUCH.
The finale with Fria was so good and more than enough of a real girl confirmation 😔 It was basically magic itself telling Penny, our Penny just as she is, "yes you're a real girl."
Giving her a human body was so unnecessary and it even goes against the previous reassurances of "real girl Penny" :((
Ah I have so much to say about Penny
I love her but she deserved better
I know this meme is a LITTLE LATE but so is Penny, so
Just wanted to pass by to tell you that I loved your analysis of Neuvillette's type on PDB! Full disclosure, my opinion is subject to intense bias since I'm an ISTP myself (~90% certainty) however I hope this is at least some validation for your part. It's amusing since his behaviors are significantly different from mine, and yet his words all 'make sense', for lack of a better word. Contrast to Wriothesley, who elicits a 'well he's right, buuuut...' feeling. Difficult to describe in 500 charas.
Hello kind stranger ! This was a very unexpected ask i'll say, even though I suppose my username IS exactly the same on PDB as it is here, making me quite easy to find in practice haha
I'm really happy my comment made sense to you ! Even now, I still firmly believe everything I wrote, and particularly that Neuvillette is a high Ti user. I don't know if you've read it, but I think there's another very good example of his Ti in his character story 5; when he describes his opinion on constellation and "fate"
One as great as he should have no need for a constellation to shine over him. After all, "fate" is merely the manner in which the present ruler of this world plays with living beings. Now that he has obtained one part of seven of the authority over the mortal realm, and reforged the throne and title of a "Fully Fledged Dragon," he is one strong enough to equal and rival "the human realm," and logic would dictate that he need not subscribe to this system known as "fate."
I think this is another good example that, at the end of the day, Neuvillette's thinking process is closer to Ti than it is to Te. There is a lot of "If Y, then logically following from this premise we can conclude X" when we're actually given the opportunity to delve into his mind. Pierce made the distinction between Ti & Te this way:
→ « Introverted Thinking — judgement based on what is subjectively denoted; i.e. a priori analysis; e.g. “If you accept my definition of 'murderer', then you must conclude with me that Colonel Mustard is one.” »
→ Extraverted Thinking — judgement based on what is objectively denoted; i.e. empirical science; e.g. “We all see the evidence (bloody hands, scene of the crime, etc.) therefore, we must all conclude that Colonel Mustard is Mr. Body's murderer.”
And I think that if we look at how Neuvillette thinks "for himself", beyond his role of judge where he is supposed to follow the laws, he really does fit the former more. Another example I developed somewhere else on his page that even Vautrain's trial shows this tendency imo ! Forgive me for this copy-past and ramble haha, this was in answer to someone asking how exactly Neuvillette could be "impartial" but have a subjective function as dominant, & my answer went like this:
This impartiality & "objectivity" while being subjective is further shown in his story quest. Despite Vautrain being one of the people he is closest to, he does not treat him differently from others in the court. but his judgment is still subjective, as evidenced by the ease with which he considers "different kinds of justice" during the trial. Te users, due to their "inherent" objectivity, often think that everyone with the same information should come to the same objective conclusion, while Ji users do not. Pierce described… Te : “We all see the evidence (bloody hands, scene of the crime, etc.) therefore, we must all conclude that Colonel Mustard is Mr. Body's murderer.” Ti : “If you accept my definition of 'murderer', then you must conclude with me that Colonel Mustard is one.” The way Neuvillette approaches that trial shows that for him, laws are simply a "definition", a logical premise from which a logical conclusion follow in the context of a trial.
Neuvillette: I acknowledge your arguments. Vautrin, your revenge could be seen as a form of justice. Neuvillette: I understand your decision. Which is why I cannot help but feel regret… and even grief about the judgment I must now impose. Neuvillette: However, personal justice does not equate to justice as defined by the law. To execute your plan for revenge, you abused your authority and conducted informal executions. Your actions have thus violated the law. Neuvillette: Therefore, you will be declared… guilty.
Neuvillette personally understands Vautrain's actions, and even "agrees" that depending on your definition of justice, his actions can be seen as just and right. However as the chief's justice, his job is to follow the established laws. And the way he describes that decision is how we can see the use of Ti despite his "following of the laws". Because the way it describes it pretty much echoes the colonel Mustard example. -> Personal justice does not equate justice as defined by the law. If we can agree that this court judges whether actions are just or not depending on whether they follow the law, then we can see that your actions have violated it. This makes Vautrain, according to the law, guilty. This is basically what Neuvillette says, in subtext. And he stays impartial by holding strong to these kind of decisions despite personal feelings on the matter. It's his job, so he follows the rules of his job. What he personally thinks and how he takes decision outside of it though is a whole other matter.
I feel like Genshin has become much less stereotypical & much more interesting in his character writing as of late so Neuvillette is very dear to my heart on that subject ! And he's, as you implied, a very good reminder that MBTI is first and foremost a system that deals with COGNITION and not behaviour. Thus it is how a character thinks, and not its actions, that should be examined to determine his MBTI type. Thank you again for taking the time to tell me here what you thought of my argument, it was unexpected but very much welcome <3 Hope these additions also make sense to you !
What is your take on rwby chara's mbti types? I think
Weiss - xSTJ, thought that she was ESTJ at first but ISTJ makes a lot of sense too.
Winter - ESTJ
Pyrrha - ESFJ
Emerald - ISFJ (I've seen some ppl type her as INFJ but I don't see how she is a Ni dom?)
Whitley - ENTJ? I'm honestly not sure abt that..
Adam - fucked up xNFJ, probably INFJ (seen him typed as xNTJ but his delusional thinking process imo screams unhealthy Ti and I think his manipulation of Blake and the WF is more Fe than Te
Qrow - was thinking ISTP but with the more recent volumes I'm really not sure..
Penny - ENFP
Ozpin - Uuuuuh INTP maybe?? But I've seen some people type him as INFJ. INFJ 5w6 would make sense as to why he might appear as an INTP but idk..
Bartholomew- ENTP
Jaune - no fucking idea honestly
Ironwood - ENTJ
Sun - Seen ppl type him as ENFP but I don't see any Ne at all..,,ESFP?
Yang - ESxP, maybe ESTP
Cinder - INTJ
Mercury - ISTP
Oscar - ISFJ
Ren - ISTx?
Hello anon ! I see my love for typology hasn't gone unnoticed 😂 Thank you so much for the ask !
I prefer enneagram over MBTI because I find it easier to type; so fair warning that I'm not an authority on MBTI-typing. But I do have have an ongoing RWBY typing that includes MBTI sooo... here goes !
(I'm putting my ennea typings along with it, but not explaining them on this post)
Ruby • xNFP 6w7 9w1 2w3?
I just can't decide between the two fors Ruby because... it kind of goes both way ??? Like Ruby definitely feels as INFP for the first half of the series; she's got a clear Fi > Ne preference... But then when she develops her Tert in V6 it's just... Te ? And she really doesn't show much Si actually she fits more the Si inf vibe in the form of forgetting about bad memories and her mom until people dig it up and she's like "nooo !" ?? So it looks like Te > Si but also Fi > Ne; conclusion idfk
Weiss • ISTJ 1w2 6w5 3w4 sp/so
Clear Fi tert rearing its head along with the 1 so I'm going with ISTJ; I also never really saw any Ne. Her type isn't too disagreed upon so tell me if you want a lenghtier explanation.
Blake • ISFP 6w5 9w8 4w3 (in some order)
Wooh this might get the anger of some (i have experience with the INFJ typers) but Blake goddamn REEKS of Fi. Less so recently but for the first seasons oh my god. She straights up catch you by the shirt and tells you "I'm doing the right thing"; and said right thing is so heavily dependant on her own subjectives values, which is why Blake can't reconcile with the current White Fang; because she doesn't have a strong Je vision of "what objectively works in the end", she only sees actions in terms of immediate right and wrong, and this b&w dichotomy stems from herself. What the WF is doing is wrong and the circumstances don't matter for judging the morality of their actions (of course I'm not talking about murder here bc that's pretty wrong ALL THE TIME but for example the stealing occuring in V1 bc of the WF is a better example)
Yang • ESXP 7w8 8w7 2w3
I'm sorry about that but I can't help you on that aspect anon, I still can't make up my mind about whether Yang has Fi or Ti. I have seen arguments for both, and i'm not the best at picking up on Ti so it's hard for me to tell.
Jaune • ESFJ 6w7 3w2 9w1
No strong opinions on his MBTI, it's kinda just based on vibes
Nora • ENFP 6w7 9w8 3w2
Textbook ENFP, not much to say here x))
Pyrrha • XXFJ 2w1 1w2 6?
In my list Pyrrha is currently written down as ISFJ but that's mostly based on the general consensus and me wanting to get rid of the XX. I don't actually have any convincing arguments to decide on Ni or Si, so I could go either way if someone else makes their case well. I feel like she's Fe aux more than dom, but even about that I could change my mind. Pyrrha didn't have that much screentime in the end :((
Ren • ISTJ? 9w1 5w4 4w5
Ironically I'm not sure about his type, kind of like you. I've mentionned I'm not very good at picking up on Ti right ? And Ren was a background character before V4 really. I had him written down as ISTP for a while but I've seen some convincing arguments for ISTJ so I might lean toward that actually but who knows. The thing I'm very confident about is his 5 fix = )
Sun • ESFP 7w6 2w3 9w1 so/sx
I don't see any Ne at all either so I don't understand the ENFP typings...?? Maybe the 7 stereotypes ? Imo Sun is just a very good boy; certified ESFP 7 himbo; triple positive sunshine !
Ilia • Ti-Fe axis ?
Again, not enough screentime for me to make an educated guess. My only certainty is : not high Fi. It's the source of their conflicts. Blake confidence in absolute right & wrong, tracing lines in the sand between acceptable & unacceptable. Whereas Ilia can only shake her head and say "Because it works", or cry out "I don't know what else to do !"
Adam • 3w4 8w7 6w5
I honestly don't really have much of an opinion about Adam's MBTI, i'm sorry anon ;; I don't know enough about how he thinks
Ozpin • INFJ 5w4 2w1 1w9
I would personally call him an INFJ. I... never really got INTP vibes from him ? I don't see the Fe inf work out with his interactions : he's always rather at ease, he knows how to navigate around people... His focus inherently lies on doing what's best for the "group", the people, humanity. Fx functions are both concerned with ethics, in different ways, and I think Oz reflects that well. He IS concerned with the moral weight of his actions, but it's a more adaptable and unpersonnal concern than Fi people. He regards Ironwood's soul machines as something wrong, but can still agree to use it if the situations demand it for example. So... if the INFJ + 5 makes sense to you, well that's what I'm typing him personally. I also feel like Ni fits him more than Ne. Ozpin has a very linear way of planning, he does use his fair share of symbolism in every day conversation... Even when taking decisions, he... kind of cares about the meaning of things a lot ? It's hard to explain but like; the way he highlights the difference between an army and a guardian, and the emotionnal response it brings. I don't know it feels like there's some Ni vibes in there x)
Oscar • ISFJ 9w8 6w7 3w2
Oscar's type honestly isn't the one I would have the easiest time explaining in lenght but yea. It's mostly vibes; also just like Ozpin he doesn't seem to have a particularly Fi reasonning. And he feels more grounded, I don't really remember any Ni so... yay ?
Ironwood • ENFJ 6w5 1w2 3w4 (pre-Vol8); ENTJ (post-Vol8)
Might be weird if you think he was a dictator from the start, but I kind of entertained the idea of Ironwood being Fe dom ? From his very first interaction it was very clear that he was a Je dom to me; he's all about objective results; he doesn't give off the "internal framework" or "personnal values" vibe AT ALL; so it was more a matter of picking Te or Fe. He LOOKS super Te don't get me wrong; but he also has an enneagram tritype that is very common amongst XXTJs (and TJs stereotypes thus derive from it). And just like Oz, his focus at all time seemed to be the greater good and doing what's best for the people still. So I was like... Eh, a "harsh" ENFJ I think that's interesting ? Plus Fe ethics actually derive from their environment, kinda like "everyone agrees that Y is wrong", and if you consider that James is from Atlas... Well his way of thinking and ethics align pretty well with the military.
His character took a turn for the worse in V8 (whether too quick or not depends on who you ask) and past that point he's a clear ENTJ; but I feel like it was more debatable before that. Idk though I might be overthinking this in the hope of making more interesting combinations xD
Qrow • ISTP 4w3 6w7? 1w9? sp/sx
I don't really see anything else than ISTP for Qrow... But he's not a character I would want to find Ti arguments for either.
Raven • ENTJ Cp6w5 8w9 3w4
Most villains get called ENTJ at the first occasions tbh zlqfznhqzkf but I think it fits Raven for the most part actually...
Winter • ESTJ 1w9 3w4 6w5
The whole Schnee family has the same enneagram tritype in different order/different wings, it's ridiculous I think she has a higher Te than Weiss, and Fi inf fits her more. She struggles more to reconcile with her emotions and the idea of a personal right/wrong than her little sis.
Penny • ENFP 4w3 6w7 9w1 sx/so
Perfect example of a healthy 4, she's a great friend a cutie pie. ... Sorry we were talking about MBTI x) Well again, textbook ENFP. Not much to debate here.
Whitley • 3w4 1w9 6w5?
Not enough material for me to guess a MBTI type correctly either, sorry... I could see some kind of xNTJ yea but it's really just vibes and not enough concrete.
Cinder • 8w7 3w4 6w5
Never cared to guess her MBTI type. I hereby type her as insufferable qkfqskfq. More seriously, I don't really know sorry Anon :/
Emerald • 2w3 ?w? ?w?
I never got Fe vibes from her tbh, I just think she's a 2. And Fe as a function is very infused with 2 stereotypes. So yea. Like, she isn't even that worried about the morality of her actions or anything more than the other villains. She just cares more about her personal relationships and being loved, so she automatically looks much nicer, especially with 2 mechanisms of trying to make herself useful and needed. Also because she's surrounded by 8-ish people xD
Mercury • 8w9 7w8 ?w?
ISTP doesn't sound too farfeteched, but I never MBTI-typed him either, sorry.
+
Bartholomew Oobleck • xSxJ 5w4
The only vibe he gave me is Si somewhere because of all his talks about learning from the past and everything repeats itself and it's a mine of informations at Mountain Glen... That's really the only time I tried to put down anything for him, and it was Si + 5. He could be some kind of xNTP nerd too for sure, but that's more vibe and I couldn't make an actual argument for it.
I took full advantage of the lack of precision each RWBY character has regarding their orientations or gender; and I made use of that fun template I found.
I'm putting the blank at the end : don't hesitate to reblog with your own headcannons. With or without the templates tbh, you can just tell me "I headcannon X as Y", that's still interesting !
This is a big mix of what I headcannon, what I can imagine best, and also just trying to complete the template in general x)
(Trans here encompass ftm, mtf or NB ! So go wild with your headcannons !)
As a bonus that I wasn't able to put here : my main headcannon for Ozpin is Agender Ozpin 🖤🤍💚 I like asexual Ozpin too but I'm really not picky and I like most content with him. Agender Ozpin is always super nice to see on the other hand ;;
Blake & May are both canon LGBTQ+, good for her ❤
Other than that I feel strongly about asexual Ren, bisexual Qrow & Pyrrha, gay Clover and bi/pan Sun ! I put the Aro/Demiromantic spots late into the making, but I'm pretty satisfied with the three I put there honestly. Weiss & Mercury here stand as Demiromantic, and Harriet as aromantic !
