i read like 5 high republic books in a week.
Lendo: Star Wars: A Alta República: Na Escuridão, da autora Claudia Gray.
O post é mais uma nota do que resenha, ja que ainda não terminei, então indo lá:
Comecei o livro a uns dias atrás, e esse é o meu segundo livro da Alta República fase 1.
Estou gostando bastante da história, e com o conhecimento prévio do livro anterior, eu to BEM curioso para saber o que vai acontecer com o padawan Reath no final do desastre do Hiperespaço.
Também to intrigado com a Affie e plot dela com a guilda.
Amo o Geodo.
Curioso com a missão passada da Orla com o Cohmac. Quero saber os paralelos nas quais ficam se referindo.
Coisas que me incomodaram, e umas dificuldades minhas com o texto tem:
A descrição de objetos externos e de certas cenas que rolaram. Não sei se sou eu (Mas acho que pode ser), mas a descrição da estação espacial passou voando na minha. Eu só entendi como se parecia quando achei ela sem querer numa HQ da alta republica que tinha.
O uso de parenteses da autora. Pra mim ta sendo uma faca de dois gumes. Ou ela da uma informaçâo interessante, ou revela algo que poderia ficar ambiguo até sabermos depois.
E de incomodo e critica foi só isso até agora. E no momento não subtraem nada da obra para mim.
Trocando de ponto, eu acabei me auto spoilando sem querer quando fui rever minhas HQ's da fase 1. Então provavelmente leia elas após esse livro, pra uma experência melhor. (Tenho todas menos a Adventures.) E foi justo nessas HQ's, que achei a representação da Estação. Também me supreendi com o cameo da Orla nelas, que nem sabia quando as li anteriormente.
É isso. Ainda não terminei pra dar um julgamento completo, mas ta sendo uma boa leitura.

OH THE ACOLYTE WAS AMAZING!! THE VISUALS AND COMBAT!! EPISODE ONE WAS A GREAT WAY TO START THE STORYLINE! MASTER SOL AND OSHAS RELATIONSHIP IS VERY SIMLAR TO AHSOKA AND ANAKIN. THE SCENE WHERE MASTER SOL FOLLOWS OSHA INTO THE CAVE IS VERY PARALLEL TO THE CLONE WARS. DONT GET ME STARTED ON MAE AND OSHA SISTERHOOD RELATIONSHIP. THEY HAVE NOT SEEN EACH OTHER IN YEARS, YET MAE CALLED OSHA “OSHIE.” MY HEART!! GOSH THEN YORD LOOKING SO GOOD! HELLO NEW CRUSH ALERT.
Seeing the Celebration Announcement for “The Ronin” has been hyped for more Visions figures down the road.
First off, the quality of the packaging itself, and then the wired soft-goods robe and droid really delicate the figure. This is what Black Series figures should be, and hopefully we’ll get to S.H figurearts levels of quality & accessories. I’m technically a vintage collection collector but i definitely pick up Black Series figures if they really strike me.
I’d love to see more Visions figures get made in both scales.
F is from my favorite Visions EP in the whole series and I desperately need a figure of her. Lop & her droid would be a unique sculpt for the line while Juro is just such a badass and would look great on the shelf. And finally, The Bandit Leader Kuro is a must so we can display her battling the Ronin.
From S2, Aau and the Sith Mother both have very different but incredibly unique designs while the Jedi & Sith from “Journey to The Dark Head” are such a perfect pair. That Sith design is so dark & sleek, imagine that chain lightsaber on the shelf!
My hopes are that we get a Celebration announcement of a High Republic figure that has such grand packaging like this. An Avar, Stellan, or Marchion would be a ✨Dream✨ collection item and would cap off the publishing event in a nice way I think.
Really excited about this new manga that was announced recently!
Knowing that we’re finally getting more stories set in the sequel era is exciting and it will be interesting to see someone so disconnected from the Jedi try and piece together what it means to be a Jedi knight.
Rey had Luke, Leia, and the ancient Jedi texts and she now has the tools to guide the new generation.
Plus connecting the high republic to this era works soooo well thematically. The Jedi of this era were more open to change and operated more freely within the republic and I think that Rey’s new Jedi order could return back to these roots while adding more layers of growth. And that potential “dark sider” behind her could be trying to learn about the sith of the past and trying to emulate that, and taking the wrong lessons from their failures and this leading to his own defeat.
Very excited to pick this story up!
Look at how incredible this is! I cannot wait to get this in person and actually read it. I know that the audio book is also going to go so hard *just like they all do*
Plus it’s going to be 500+ pages…..we are so not ready for what this book is about to bring. With everything, I know it’s gonna be a rollercoaster from start to finish.
I’ve been keeping up with the High Republic since it was first announced and seeing these characters grow and change has been such an emotional/fulfilling journey. It’s gunna be hard to say goodbye to these characters for awhile. I’m gunna miss em so much. Avar, Elzar, Stellan, Vernestra, Marchion, Bell, Keevee, Xylan Graff, Marda, Kevmo, Loden, Imri, and Gavi all of you will have my heart forever 🫶🏽🫶🏽😭
Kinda niche but I hope that we get a cool moment for master Xo Lahru by the end of phase 3. He’s 1 of only 4 cannon grandmasters we have so far and I would love to know more about him.
Pra-Tre veter got such a badass end to his character fitting of a grandmaster, having an incredible show of strength in the shadows of starlight comic. We’ve also gotten to know him and his personally quite well in the Yoda comics and shadows of starlight, while also having a historic death that really impacted me while reading it.
That Fight scene in Shadows of starlight will forever live rent free in my head tbh. And the armor he wears is top notch, and I’ll always be a Master Veter defender
I think Pra-Tre really had the “grandmaster aura” and I hope we get the some love for Lahru and Ry Ki-Sakka because they have such cool designs and I don’t want that potential to be wasted
Been rereading Path of Deceit and I forgot how much I love this book. There’s something so thrilling about seeing the force through the eyes of Marda & the Path of the Open Hand. It really is suspenseful and as the story progresses throughout phase 2 the cult really gets more and more terrifying.
A midsummer sequel portrayal of the force in Star Wars really is gratifying.
Plus seeing such open queer representation in Star Wars and the tragedy between Marda/Kevmo & Yana/Kor. I’ll never be over them, living rent free in my head at all times
I’m a big Star Wars Visions fan and I’m always excited when they release a new season. It’s always so intriguing to see how the Star Wars universe is interpreted through different cultural perspectives and there’s always an exciting addition to the universe.
To be honest I like to view each episode as a sort of “soft cannon” with it being completely cannon to me unless contradicted down the road.
I tend to think that each episode fits into 1 of 3 categories
Category 1: Can’t be “officially” cannon without complete reworking
The Duel- a gorgeous reinterpretation of the Star Wars universe but it completely reworking the way the world works
Tatpooine Rhapsody- Could definitely work but makes the Inquisitors and Vader seem less threatening by having them never notice he’s a Jedi. But it is a very heartwarming and fun story!
Category 2: Could work but need some reworking
The Twins- A great story mirroring the skywalker Saga but it can come off a bit extreme/outlandish to some people. I would see if we dial it back (like the force unleashed) and found a right point in the timeline it might work.
Aau’s Song- a beautiful short that uses music in such a unique way. The only thing needed would be to clarify where/when it occurs in the timeline. (I’m thinking after the Old republic but before the high republic)
Journey to the Dark Head- Some of the best action we’ve ever had in Star Wars and I think it could work if we found the right place for it. Again, I’m thinking the old republic era.
Category 3: could seemlessly fit into Cannon
Bandits of Golark- a young force sensitive kid on the run, Inquisitor, and the hidden path. It fits in and doesn’t contradict anything.
The Spy Dancer- A great story about lost family during the empire that would be a nice cannon story.
The Village Bride- A fugitive Jedi on the run from the empire helping save a village from pirates. On of my favorite Visions stories that fits perfectly into cannon.
All of these are such great stories and I can’t wait for S3
In a perfect world these 3 would all be happy and living there life together. Aiding planets, stopping pirates, and being the cutest polycule in the galaxy
Alas….all we high republic fans know is trauma. God I love these books
Very excited to see more acolyte merch, and we're finally getting our first official "figure" of the stranger!
I think things like this are important, characters like Torbin and Aniseya probably won't get much merch so getting things like this in the collection is always exciting
Definitely gunna try to get 1 of each in my collection
Also- how cool would it be to get something like this for the High Republic books. Getting figures feels like a dream but something like this could be a more realistic goal and I know high republic fans would love it
Imagine a mini-Marchion, Loden, or Avar Kriss!
A phase 1 & phase 2 wave would be sick! I feel like we need something big to kick off the final wave of high republic books
Took a break from Star Wars for a bit after The Acolyte and had the pleasure of exploring some other fandoms for while
Now that I’m divining back in there’s so much more high republic media I gotta catch up with in 2025
Looking forward to to how much joy and ✨Trauma✨ that the High Republic gives me
