Just a PSA to the Marauders fandom that I think we all could use (just a warning cuz this is gonna be reeeeallyy long, sorry 😅):

It’s called FANFICTION and not CANNON, FOR. A. REASON.

Also idk about any other sites bc the only one I use is ao3, but it has tags describing the fic and the things you’ll see in it for a reason. If you don’t like something in it then don’t read it. If there’s something you don’t like in it then don’t read it. Simple as that.

And I’m not trying to be disrespectful but iv seen a LOT of people like all around being disrespectful about other people’s preferences, for example different ships and weather or not it would have been realistic in cannon.

Obviously we’re all gonna have different types of things we like to see in a fic so we’re all gonna have different opinions on different topics.

Some of the most common ones I see are Jegulus and Snape vs. James stuff.

Im really sorry because this is jumping all over the place but the point I’m trying to make is that we all (and if not all of us then definitely the majority) read marauders fanfics or whatever to escape the absolutely tragic end of the cannon marauders. Like, there ALL dead in cannon, so we make up stories to keep them alive forever. Weather or not we change their personalities a little bit, or their appearance, or their preferences ,or the settings their in, whatever, it really doesn’t matter. They’re still gonna be the marauders at the end of the day.

Anyways, please remember to stay respectful to EVERYONE and their preferences. No matter if it’s realistic or not bc be so fr, we’re taking about a bunch of dead wizards who we have going into COMPLETELY different AUs all the time. None of this is realistic.

My end point is going to be that if you don’t like something in a fic or podcast or where ever it is you get your content then don’t read/listen to it. In the end it’s really up to you what you put in your brain and what you chose to do with it so please chose wisely and chose what’s gonna bring you the most happiness.

Anyways sorry this was so long, I got really tired of seeing all the disrespect in this community and just need to get this off my chest, thank you so much for reading all this and PLEASE ignore any grammatical or spelling errors😭

I have a Marauders fancast opinion that may or may not rustle some jimmies: now don’t get me wrong, Andrew Garfield as Remus, Aaron Taylor Johnson as James, Evan Peters as…Evan etc are good fancasts on their own. Sofia Bryant as Mary, Beabadoobee as Marlene, Filah Lah Lah as Dorcas etc. are also very good fancasts on their own, but am I the only one who finds it kind of weird when they’re all part of the same fancast? for example the fandom can’t be like “oh Karen Gillan/Sophie Skelton are too old to play Lily anymore, gotta find a younger one” but somehow at the same time still be fine with currently 35-45 year old men.

I definitely do think that's weird, I don't understand why people have the need to hate on others for their fancast aside from when it's problematic. For example, Dane Dehaan and Jamie Bell as Peter. You can't excuse the fact that Peter is CANONICALLY PLUS SIZE! Due to a headcanon that "Peter only got fat because of the stress of being Voldemort's mole", or because of the "stress of the war" when he was described as plump in his youth.

As for the age differences it's really not that weird if you really think about it. Most often we see fancasts in edits, and in those edits they usually us scenes of Aaron Taylor Johnson in Nowhere Boy, and Ben Barnes as Dorian Gray, and Andrew Garfield in The Amazing Spiderman. During the times those films came out ATJ was 18, Ben Barnes was 28, and Andrew Garfield was 29.

Sofia Bryant is 23, so is Beatrice Laus (Beabadoobee), and Filah Lah Lah is 24. So in the grand scheme of all these fancasts the age difference isn't really that big. The largest difference is between ATJ and Andrew Garfield and that's only 11 years.

So I definitely do understand where you're coming from but if you take into account when they're being fancast it really makes so much more sense.

My Marauders Headcanons Pt. 4 ~ Peter Isaiah Pettigrew

Raised by a single mother who works very hard for her children

Middle Child Syndrome

He has an older brother and an older sister and a younger brother and a younger sister

Speaking of Peter's spot in the common room is closest to the fire

So when someone took Peter's spot one day Sirius gave them a death glare til they got so uncomfortable they let the common room altogether

My Marauders Headcanons Pt. 3 ~ Remus John Lupin

(Daniel Sharman as Remus Lupin makes sooo much sense, in my head. I mean he is soggy, wet dog of a man like Remus. He plays a werewolf on Teen Wolf. He has the hair, and if cocky, cool Remus is your thing he can pull that off too. Also there's a pic of him in a cowboy hat for all the Cowboy!Remus going on rn)

Hes an old man at heart and he always has been

He's very awkward, like if it weren't for the marauders he'd probably have like no friends

He actually gets along with everybody despite the facts he's awkward as hell

Became friends with The Pantheons/Slytherin Skittles/The Emeralds (whatever your preferred term is) after the prank

His first tattoo was a sun in between his shoulder blades he didn't know why but when he got home, home where it was always cold and the people there were too he knew. Sirius thrashed and cried and begged for her not to cut his hair but she did anyway, she didn't even care for the cuts she left on him as he tried to get her to stop

When she was done she simply told him he wasn't her son anymore

She wanted nothing to do with him

And Sirius begged for something he didn't even know what for

He doesn't like shaving but he prefers to be free of hair

Sometimes if Walburga was feeling nice and his father wasn't home which was rarely ever but it did happen occasionally Walburga would allow Sirius to crawl in bed with her and lie his head on her chest while she combed her fingers through his hair

Despite the affection this still hurt Sirius because she'd never look at him, and she wouldn't even acknowledge when he spoke to her. Never returning his declaration of love so he learned to accept her seldom affection in silence

Walburga was somehow even harsher after these times as she learned to view love and affection as a weakness

Sirius Black is the father of all time. He works on homework with Teddy the second they come home with it, even though they’re just a kindergartener. He kisses every single injury, from paper cuts to broken arms. He carries them everywhere. He reads bedtime stories every night. He celebrates every birthday like it’s a massive milestone. He plays all the silly games they come up with and is completely in character it the whole time, be it dress up, tag, or make believe, he’s down. He never raises his voice, let lone his hands. He wakes up to change diapers or feed in the middle of the night. He welcomes every friend and partner into the house with open arms, so long as they’re good to his Teddy. He attends every parent-teacher conference and pays rapt attention to everything the teachers say. He bakes cookies every weekend and keeps track of all of their favourite foods so they’ll always enjoy what he makes. He buys thoughtful gifts at least once a month just to show his love a little more. He makes time for all of their school plays and sports games and competitions. He brushes their hair even when they’re well past the age he should if they forget to, just because he can. He pays for their wedding and pretends not to cry when he sees how happy Teddy is. He drops off fresh baked goods and leftovers at their house when they move out whenever he can. He shows them how to fix their car and appliances and everything else. He teaches them how to do makeup and hair when they ask. He gives advice on anything and everything. He researches all of their interests so he can have good conversations with them. Eventually, he becomes the world’s greatest grandfather, doing everything he did for Teddy and still being there to help them alone (he babysits whenever he’s allowed because he loves them all so much).

Remus Lupin calls Sirius Black baby!! It doesn’t matter that Sirius is 6’5” and 300lbs with a strongman build, covered in tattoos, heavily pierced, and insanely strong (in all ways possible), he is Remus’ baby. He sits on the ground between Remus’ legs and rests on his thighs while he works. He curls up against Remus’ side, arms around his waist, nuzzling into his neck when he feels too vulnerable. He routinely lays on Remus’ lap and silently begs for forehead kisses and praise. Remus refers to Sirius as “baby” in public and then this massive bear of a man walks over and wraps his arms around Remus and pulls him into his chest and people are terrified. But Remus is just like “yeah that’s my baby! Hi baby!” and Sirius kisses his head and calls him the most heart-wrenchingly touching and beautiful names ever… I love them to death omg

Wrong! Sirius loves his partners and takes care of them but they are the ones who are pathetic for him. They literally beg for his attention and cry if they don’t get it. His whole harem is viciously envious of one another and brags whenever Sirius focuses on them. You would not believe the amount of bragging when Sirius fucks somebody. People cry because he doesn’t have them on the floor sucking his dick. They literally fight over who gets to be his toy for the hour (he enables all of it but makes sure they are all cared for don’t worry)

I don’t gaf who you ship Sirius with as long as they are literally willing to get on their knees and beg for his attention. That’s all. He should always be worshiped by his partners because he’s literally the best and they all know it. Fuck you. OH MY GOD YES THANK YOU!!

In Hogwarts, Peter always thought she was really pretty. He was shy and quiet in public, but very funny and charismatic when he got close to people. He’s not a conversationally attractive guy, and he’s pretty insecure about that. He’s very smart, smarter than most people give him credit for. He’s obviously good at transfiguration, being an animagus and all, but I also think he excels in herbology, care of magical creatures, and history of magic. He has a snarky, sometimes cruel side, especially when he’s younger. He likes pranks and he’s the kind of person that can and will hold grudges (he works on that and being unnecessarily cruel when he’s older, don’t worry). When he’s at Hogwarts, he goes on a handful dates, but nothing really sticks. Once he graduates, he decides to focus more on his friends, family, and career. He, again, goes on a date or two, but never makes it past the third date.

Background stuff: 5’3, fat, straight + demisexual+demiromantic, healer who specializes in kiddos, grew up with a single mother and big sister. His father was a muggle who left a little after he was born because the guy couldn’t deal with magic anymore. He visited with his grandparents a lot growing up and was very close with them (they helped his mom out a lot!). He doesn’t have any cousins or uncles/aunts.

Charity, meanwhile, was very popular. She had a big friend group and knew a lot of people outside of that. She’s very, very kind and compassionate, very much a lover, not a fighter, and very pretty. She was a Hufflepuff, so they didn’t talk a lot, but I do think that they were both in the chess club for a little while. She was also very smart, excelling in muggle studies (obvs), charms, herbology, care of magical creatures, and ancient runes. She’s very forgiving and always sees the best in people, but it sometimes goes to the extent of her becoming a doormat and being too trusting of the wrong people. In Hogwarts, she goes out with a lot of guys (and even some girls), even has a couple of relatively longterm partners. Later in life, it’s about the same. She’s a few months out of a 5-odd year relationship when she meets him. Her friend group also gets smaller and closer as she gets older.

Background stuff: either 4’10 or 5’5 (can’t decide if I like the idea of her being taller or shorter than Peter but I’m leaning towards shorter because I think it fits her personality better) quite small, either pansexual or bisexual, muggle studies professor at Hogwarts, grew up as the youngest of four sisters with a loving mom and dad. She’s a pureblood, but she has a muggle grandmother whom she loves dearly. She’s the biggest daddy’s girl in the world and is very close to her sisters. She has a few aunts/uncles on both sides and a lot of cousins. Family reunions are big for her!

Between them, Charity is the more confident one. She asks him out. It’s a private affair, they’re just sitting together and she turns to him and admits that she likes him a lot. They’re ~30 by then. By that point, they’ve been friends of varying degrees of closeness since they were ~24. They’re pretty fast friends and start to like each other relatively soon, but Charity is nervous about taking it further after her recent breakup and Peter doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. When she’s recovered from that, she waits a few years again because she also doesn’t want to ruin it.

They are very much the dates-in-the-park and cute little hangouts kind of couple. They both like romance a lot and enjoy very stereotypical couple dates. They do a lot of cute PDA (i.e. cheek kissing, hand holding, whispering to each other) and really enjoy quiet, domestic time with one another. If they love soppy, sickeningly sweet movies and quoting the sappiest lines at each other.

Moving in together/getting together is easy for them because of how long they’d known each other by then. They both love sleep, so they spend a lot of time cuddling in bed, just existing together. Their favourite thing to do is slowly wake up in the morning, kiss and snuggle for a while, go back to bed, and repeat a few times until they decide it’s time to actually wake up. They also both like cooking and food, so they make it a point to cook, at the very least, breakfast and dinner together. They also bake together quite often.

If they’d gotten together in Hogwarts, I think they would’ve loved going to parties together, but, as they get older, I think it would become less and less important to them. As it stands, they are the most domestic domestics to ever domestic. Charity also gets align with the Marauders really well, even though she thought they were a little obnoxious back in Hogwarts. Peter gets on with her friends (Aurora Sinatra, Sybill Trelawny, Septima Vector, Bathsheda Babbling) as well.

Ultimately, they fit together really nicely and I love them so much. I think they’re so cute!!

May I suggest Peter Pettigrew x Charity Burbage? I think that would be fun. I headcannon Peter as being really insecure hit desperately wanting someone to love him, then Charity, an attractive, kind, confident girl just kind of. Shows up? She pinches his cheeks and kisses his nose a lot. He melts every time. His friends tease him about it, but they’re all way worse about their significant others.

I think that in a good AU, Peter would become a healer, probably one that specializes in treatment of kiddos (wizard family doctor/paediatrician). We know that Charity is a professor at Hogwarts. I think they didn’t really know each other when they were students. They knew of each other, I think, but only had a couple of conversations in shared classes. Peter always thought she was pretty, but never did anything about it.

Later in life, they met and got closer through Remus when he became a professor, too, at some point in their mid-early 20s. They took it very slowly, starting as acquaintances, then friends, then, after at least a few years, started dating. Now, despite getting together so slowly, I think that they were close enough by the time they finally made it official that they were a bit quicker than usual when it came to becoming serious. The second they got together, they were exclusive. Maybe eight months later they move in together. I’m imagining they’re nearing 30 at this point.

When they get engaged, it’s Charity who gets down on one knee. They get married, like, a year after moving in together. Not a lot of people are invited, but it’s a pretty big event. They both like big parties and events, but they also have a strong sense of family and would want to keep their close friends/family there without people they don’t know well.

I think I hate people because on my fic about Sirius struggling with societal norms and wanting to dress feminine but not wanting to be perceived as weird I explicitly stated TWICE that he wasn’t trans (in that fic) and somebody STILL commented about how it was a great female Sirius fic??? I’m so sorry are we illiterate? Are we dumb? What happened? I literally told you he’s a cis guy. He made a big deal out of it. It’s a fic about how society puts people into boxes based on appearance and he didn’t want people to do that. Where do I go wrong? Did they just not read part of the fic? Did they just close their eyes? It was literally tagged as “boys in skirts” what do you mean female Sirius???

Remus: excuses himself from a party after 10 minutes bc he wants to go knit. Wearing the most heinous jumper even your grandfather would shy away from. Blacks out after one (1) beer. Dies if someone makes eye contact with him. Sits awkwardly in the corner trying not to cry when he has to stay in a party for too long (fails every time). Bones pop 87 times every time he stands up. Cannot sit on the floor or he will need to be picked up bc his back is so bad. Asks Sirius + James + Peter to kiss his booboos bc his mummy used to do it and it made it feel better. Always has at least 3 books on him but needs Sirius to carry them bc he’s too weak. Hates smoking bc he’s worried about cancer. Very awkward. Loser.

I need more sapphic WolfStar with trans Sirius.

I want transfemme Sirius with a buzzcut and a tight little tank top and cargo pants and massive boots and piercings and tattoos. She first grew her hair as long as possible to prove her gender to the Blacks, then, when she ran away, buzzed it and has cycled through every haircut imaginable since, just to stick it to her family that she can be a woman with short hair. She cuts her own hair, too. She pierced her own ears and septum and did stick-and-poke tattoos on her ankles in her bedroom at 12 Grimmauld Place (everything else is done professionally). She’s taller than most men and absolutely uses it to her advantage.

I want fem!Remus who wears ankle-length skirts and 70-year-old-man jumpers and blouses only grandmothers wear. She has curly hair that she doesn’t know how to take care of and usually just wears it in a messy ponytail. She always has her mom cut her hair. She tries to cut her own bangs a few times. She tries to do her makeup on special occasions, but, somehow, it never ends up looking as nice as it does on other people. She spends all day in bed when her monthly cycles match up too closely. She bites her lip and chews her nails.

I need Sirius teaching Remus how to do her makeup. I need Remus teaching Sirius about periods and what it was like growing up a girl and all the little things that she missed out on. I need Sirius seeing an “I <3 girldick” shirt and buys it for Remus (who refuses to wear it in public, but it’s comfy and oversized, so she ends up wearing it at home). I need Sirius who knows about periods, but is fucking appalled to learn how bad they can get, and spends all of Remus’ worshipping her. I need Remus who keeps getting whiplash every time Sirius changes her haircut but cannot get over how nice she looks constantly.
